I dont’t have many love at first sniff but Bronze Goddess was one. It’s so beautiful. It’s a solar perfume but it also have a fresh side. For an eau fraîche, the sillage is very good. With Bronze Goddesse Estée Lauder continue to produce quality perfume at very reasonnable price.
MikhailFrolov – :
When I put this potion on, I feel like a Bronze Goddess indeed. This fragrance perfectly embodies the notion of a fantastical, tropical, exotic woman, and I’m thrilled that I discovered it. I’m a Hawaiian, so I can get away with wearing this nearly year-round. I’m pretty sure when people smell me and the wafting of this Tahitian Tiare flower, magnolia, and sandalwood concoction, they think (and see) a bronze goddess as well. Even if not, what matters most is how I feel when I wear it.:) Yay for aromatherapy, 5/5.
mmmax – :
Tiare and neroli/orange blossom flowers tempered with bergamot, sandalwood, and coconut. An hour after spraying it softens into a rounded vanilla amber with citrus, vetiver, and lavendar.
If you like the idea of Bobbi Brown Beach but found it a bit too literal or are looking for a grown-up, beachy version of JLo Glow, then EL Bronze Goddess is for you. It is an Eau Fraiche which is less concentrated than a cologne so I don’t worry about over-spraying too much as I spray wrists, chest, behind the knees, hair, etc.
This is my jam! I live in a place that is hot and humid most of the year. This is where most fragrances go to die or are too much for the heat. This blooms in the heat without being overpowering and can be uplifting in the rain. I will never fail to pack this for a summer trip.
Chuchmeg – :
This was a Christmas gift but I tried it on in early spring. My first thought was “this is definitely going to my sister”. I couldn’t bear wearing it. Then I forgot about it and today I found it in my drawer and decided to give it another try. Well, I will hold on to it for the summer as it smells much better now that we have over 35 C. I get mostly coconut, tiare flower, amber and myrhh. It is a melange of exotic and oriental notes and reminds me of old movies filmed in the Orient.
alfirka87 – :
I cannot stop wearing this scent this summer. It reminds me of Bain de Soleil gelee, Nuxe oil, and the beach without smelling directly like any of these things. It is light, but my daughter will say she smells it 10+ hours after I have sprayed it on. Comforting, breezy, and a perfect every day summer scent. I have worn it pretty much daily for a month with pleasure. I am delighted with it.
Payclarkpap – :
spray this on top of La Prairie Midnight Rain and thank me later 😉
byh693speagoessenda – :
Perfect hot weather/summer scent.
The combination of citruses add a little (just a little) brightness, it is mostly soft, mossy coconut and tiare flower on my skin. Expensive suntan lotion, salty sun-baked skin.
It’s has a youthful feel — nostalgic for me — but I don’t know if young girls would like this one.
Longevity is pretty good, still smell it on my skin 5 or 6 hours in, I’m happy to have it in my collection 🙂
Mebpq265bedyWelty – :
It’s the perfect beach scent for me. I live in a place where summers never really get hot and sunny, and bathing in the sea is completely out of question for me here. It’s nice to have a bit of reminder of those few holidays I’ve had in the Mediterraneans.
Bronze Goddess is tropical, but it smells more like suntan lotion or a coconut beverage than the atmosphere of a sea. It’s fizzy and happy, it’s heavily underlined by citrus notes and white flowers, especially tiare. I don’t get much of the base notes, but that’s fine. I wouldn’t want BG to be too heavy. This perfume puts me in a better mood when the sky is gloomy outside and I’m daydreaming about 30+ celsius.
It projects loads on the initial spray, and I get nice whiffs of it throughout the day, but it does mellow down into a soft scent indeed. Longevity is not that bad either, 5-6 hours easily with 4-5 sprays.
speedhelp – :
This is so sharp and green on me. All I get is vetiver and citrus. I’m so disappointed because I wanted a creamy, beach scent.
ANATOLY777 – :
Wonderful! I get hardly any coconut but a great amount of myrrha and vetiver. Which is nice. Not at all the hot mess the bottle indicates, imo. I cannot smell any difference between Azuree Soleil and Bronze Goddess and as I’ve understood from others EL says themselves that it is the same scent in different packaging. Really worth every penny. Would make a great masculine as well as vetiver is rather prominent. Definitely a gourmand and very sexy. As it is a skinscent you would think it needs to be re-applied during the day, but I do not recommend. The staying power is immense and sillage quite heavy so overdoing it is easy. I do not find BG reminiscent of any sun cream I’ve ever owned, I wish I would as then the sun screen would be yammy. Get your hands on this before it is too late, as it already might be. But no worries, new year brings a new bottle. And hey, this is really close to Annich Goutals Myrrhe Ardente. At least on me! Love!
ard13 – :
Very summery exotic scent…makes me feel like I’m on a tropical island somewhere listening to “Hot Hot Hot”.
bIPYc – :
This fragrance reminds me a fresh glass of pina colada . It is perfect to wear during the summer , reminiscent of the Aftersun.
Dogi gm – :
I am speechless.I can’t believe people are massively pouring themselves with this stuff. I have seen it in perfume reviews on Youtube and thought it’s something tropical and lovely. But it smells seriously unpleasant. How sun tan lotion scent can be supposed to be a perfume I can’t get it. All my life I even don’t use that stuff or look for unscented products and it baffles me how other people pay bucks to stink of pure chemicals. Sorry, just opinion. If you hate sun tan scent or industrial coconut scent, don’t waste your time.
AsydayVal – :
I will admit I bought this because of all the hype over it and I do like it but I don’t think it will become a favourite. I get spicy coconut from this and it does hang around a reasonably long time but for me,this isn’t anything special and I wouldn’t class this as a summer scent specifically. Gorgeous bottle though.
shegon22 – :
I’m wearing it today and I swear I can smell nutmeg?! The coconut is a little weak for me unfortunately as this was primarly why I bought it, however it is still a really pleasant summer scent and a real mood-lifter. The only problem is what everyone else has stated, it doesn’t last and is slightly too soft for my liking.
kotiar – :
Wonderful summer scent to wear all year long! The first note is a bit of coconut and some tropical garden. I lived a year in Hawaii and this made me think of early morning air at the beach.
The scent is light and soft and although it does not last for hours, it is a joy to spritz it on again later in the day.
My man friend’s first choice perfume on me is Eau de Soir, but in blind sniff tests, he always gives this a high score.
Perfect for daytime wear.
zotik9174 – :
love at first sniff, I overspray this because I want that first blast of topnotes to last longer! it’s is Devine coconut tropical dreaminess, not too sweet, just right. Will continue to buy this.
max654321 – :
A day of sunshine, coconuts and drinks on the beach are to be found in this bottle. mmmmmmmmmmm
forerunner – :
This is rather unlike anything else around, or anything I’ve smelled before. It’s quite delicious but not in a gourmand way. It’s intriguing. Definitely try before you buy.
It’s a girl in a cocktail dress drinking a pina colada at a beach party.
JUNK – :
This is a perfume, that makes me think of tropical beach, clear sky and hot sun.
Not just a summer fragrance, it’s a tropical summer in the bottle. Coconut is the strongest note. It’s pure and delicious, a little medical, but it’s not bothering me.
It’s get nicer and nicer as the time passes.
In my home country we don’t have anything else like it, so to me it seems very original.
kokos_2 – :
I just tried Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 2014. I am male and I have Encre Noire. Suprisingly – I mean I was not expecting it-, it smells very much like Encre Noire. If you will not be able to find Bronze Goddess, go for Encre Noire or Sport. It even might smell more like the Sport one.
ilya4171 – :
I’ll be upfront: I’m the palest of the pale in terms of melanin content. But when I put this potion on, I feel like a Bronze Goddess indeed. This fragrance perfectly embodies the notion of a fantastical, tropical, exotic woman, and I’m thrilled that I discovered it. I’m a Floridian, so I can get away with wearing this nearly year-round. I’m pretty sure when people smell me and the wafting of this tahitian tiare flower, magnolia, and sandalwood concoction, they think (and see) a bronze goddess as well. Even if not, what matters most is how I feel when I wear it.:) Yay for aromatherapy, 5/5.
Deroxytdic – :
I was going to buy this fragrance today mainly because of its natural and non-alcohol composition. Instead, while at the Estee Lauder counter, I chose to spray my self and my jacket with it and waited to see how it was going to release its scent throughout the day.
At first, it does come out as a beautiful tropical flower scent and smells like sunscreen. After about 2 hours the scent smelled more like gardenia with the tahitian tiare flower and jasmine. There is actually very little of coconut in it.
People might think of coconut first because they might have a hard time distinguishing the smell of the tahitian flower with the gardenia.
Nevertheless, this is a knockout sexy fragrance which I think can be worn on special nights (and special days) any anytime a woman wants to feel like a woman…
NancyTk – :
For me it is not like a sun tan lotion type of perfume. It is exotic, it is coconuty and warm, but they also have a fresh side. It is not very creamy, for me it is fresh, spicy, warm and this combination gives exotic feeling. I really do not smell flowers a lot. Everything is well blended.
I think that I will use this also in autumn and winter sometimes, because Bronze Goddess is my summer most favourite perfume, and it will be reminder of summer. Because of sandalwood it will be good also for winter. It is not typical fresh summer scent, it is exotic and sexy.
It is skinscent, so I always spray it more than other perfumes. But on my skin it sticks very well and I am satisfied with that.
plartyom – :
Very beachy scent, yeah. Tropical, a bit spicy, a lot relaxing. However, it reminds me a little of a sunscreen lotion smell. Or maybe it is just beachy vibe? Try yourself.
BTW, for a skinscent it has a very good stillage.
asunrise – :
First impression was linked with kahlua drinks, because besides obvious coconut scent, whole composition reminds me of summer time in bars. Simply, I think that the persence of alcohol in perfumes is responsible for that so maybe it wasn’t intended. Anyway, for me scent is perfect. Sexy, hypnotic, a little bit harsh because of vetiver which in fume keeps me thinking about warm beach sand.
I think the most important is Bronze Goddess is not tawdry, as some of users writing and comparing too simply to sun tan oils.
Meqzt769Diobtetty – :
This IS sunshine, sunscreen, coconut drinks, sand, and an azure beach mixed expertly and bottled into a glorious half-transparent golden bottle. I don’t know what magic is going on with the golden coating on the bottle, but it’s nothing like I’ve seen before. Anyway, back to the scent: it’s a creamy coconut based woody floral: coconut is the base of everything, comfortably enveloped and hugged by the sandalwood, tiare, jasmin and a tinsy bit citrus. To tell you the truth this scent is too complex for me to tell all the notes apart, but these are what dominate the scent to me. It’s wonderful, a perfect substitute if you -like me- has no chance to have a real beachy holiday.
Longevity is moderate, and it stays close to the skin.
Editing to add: the spritzer is veeery generous, so be careful how many times you spray. I use 4 sprays a day and after 10 days of usage the liquid in the bottle is down by 5mm. Now I understand why Bronze Goddess is coming in 100ml bottles only. A smaller one wouldn’t last a summer probably with my moderate usage 😀 (Although I do think BG is quite pricy to allow such a waste.)
EvgeniIvanov – :
It’s perfect for a summer holiday, although the coconut is the strongest note I detect. I want to weat this on my honeymoon somewhere exotic.
spaceshiva – :
No change in scent just the look. Estée Lauder NY says, when I called to enquire;)
streetracer2009 – :
Bronze Goddess 2014 is, literally, Summer in a Bottle.
I was looking for a perfume that would smell like Coppertone sunscreen which, to me, smells as a combination of coconut and tiare scents.
And, at last, I found it!
This is my absolute favorite summer/beachy scent. It has a definite coconut creaminess to it, so it may not be for those of you who are not a fan of coconut.
It is light but not fleeting, and seems to warm on the skin into a gorgeous floral/creamy coconut suntan oil scent. It’s perfect in the summer, but also great in the dead of winter to remind you of great times spent in the warm sunshine. I can’t recommend this one enough! Knowing that it is a limited 2014 edition, I will stock up with, at least 4 bottles.
Try using the whipped body cream and layer to make it last longer because the longevity of this eau fraiche is not a plus, it lasts for about an hour or so. Projection is moderate.
Believe me, you do need this perfume in your perfume wardrobe. It may not be a haute couture scent and it may be relatively uncomplicated but, this is the essence of summer as well… All we need is a bikini, the sea breeze and flowers in our hair!
Enjoy the perfume quest!
SHMELb – :
by the notes i thought i was going to love this. i dont get any coconut. i cant really pick out what it smells like on me. i imagine though a mother outside hanging laundry on the line in summer. her linen dress blowing in the breeze. on me its a mature 40+ scent. im really not loving it. i was hoping for a coconuty creamy summery beach scent, and while its summery its not a beach scent on me. not for me. i think if you are a mature woman you could pull this off. and maybe if you get more coconut it would be more beachy and maybe younger?
kadriya36 – :
This is awesome. It’s the closest one yet to Azuree Soleil which I have but hardly use because I’m afraid of the moment when my bottle is finally empty. :p
This is less salty but I can live with it. I will bring this with me as I travel and use it on a daily basis in the summer and keep Azuree Soleil for special moments. The bottle of this one isn’t nearly as cute but that’s a good thing! I wont be afraid of bringing it with me on vacation or just throwing it in my purse. Sillage is amazing, one spritz is more than enough.
Perfect for layering with jasmine scents. Love!
Update:
Be really careful when spraying this on. I only spray once and nearly choked my boyfriend to death. He was not impressed. Lots of men seem to dislike coconut notes for some reason?
888357b6 – :
I was searching for a new summer day scent and out of the dozens of decants I checked out, this was far and away the winner. On me I mostly get sandalwood, vetiver, tiare and coconut and it smells simply delicious. I’m not a big fan of vetiver, but it smells fantastic in the base of Bronze Goddess. This scent has just enough coconut to make me feel like I’m at the beach, and just enough sophistication to make it a wonderful perfume. As an aside, I don’t really get why so many people voted this a night fragrance – it really is a skin scent which I rarely associate with night wear.
ICE_91 – :
I got it recently. This is my first Bronze Goddess and oh my, I love it. It is a perfect summer scent for me. I get creaminess, hint of flowers ( tiare mainly) some fresh note I can’t really identify, coco milk and sandalwood. I am not a fan of fresh citrus perfume, so this is a salvation for me in hot spanish summer.
The scent is quite complex actually,I prefer it over Escada and Lancaster so far.
It really remains on me. Would work as day and night time perfume. I find it very sexy, attractive and feminine.
As you can tell I am quite pleased with BG.
Garry00 – :
I had this a few years ago (2010) and winded up selling it for the next big thing at the time, whatever it was. Well I got a craving for it again so here it is! It’s a nice scent to keep in your wardrobe for summer, it’s not too strong, nor too gourmand, or too suntan lotion-y. Just something to wear for going out for the warm summer evenings. You’ll get a burst of scent but it’s not oppressive.
CosyAbubs – :
I have wanted this since last year and I finally got bottle! I don’t know what it is about this perfume that is so crave worthy because it IS a simple scent but something about it intoxicates and excites me.
On first spray it does smell like a nice, non chemically suntan lotion as many have mentioned. An up close sniff of the wrist I can very easily pick out the lemon and orange and probably the bergamot. It does then settle in to a creamy, coconutty warm skin day at the beach. Its kind of hard to explain because if you were to say to someone “this smells like good suntan oil” then why wouldn’t you buy sun tan oil for $5.99 instead of the $60 + this costs, right? But it is so much more creamy and soft and all around makes you feel like you just got home from the beach minus the sweaty, oily stinkyness a day at the beach can actually smell like. This is like someone bottled all the good parts of “beach smell” and threw in “shower fresh” for the best of both worlds. I am a huge coconut lover and am usually disappointed in scents that claim to have coconut, but this one comes through on the promise. My husband, however thought it smelled like “Old ladies and sex” before he smelled it on me and swore he would hate it. He tested some on his hand and said he could smell it all day and it was revolting. So when I sprayed some on he never said anything and I said “do I smell like old lady sex?” He looked confused, sniffed me and said “No it actually smells good on you”. So this is probably one of those love it or hate it things and I happen to love it!
zxdx1 – :
To me Bronze Goddess smells mainly of sandalwood with a hint of supporting vanilla and coconut notes. It reminds me a lot of Sensuous minus the honey. Bronze Goddess is less sweet. I really like it, great warm scent that smells like summer, just like skin after a day at the beach. Sensual and great for day or night.
JuiceFruit – :
I heard rave reviews about this so couldn’t wait to try it! But it just smells musty and off on me, not the coconutty, holiday scent I imagined at all 🙁
elation86 – :
So, it’s early May and I am thinking I could really go for a new summer scent. Having read a lot of enthusiastic reviews for Bronze Goddess, I sought it out at my Macy’s today. I couldn’t really smell much of anything when I sniffed the nozzle, so I said “what the hell” and gave my wrist a good squirt. Note to self: Look harder for paper test strips before spraying a new-to-you scent with abandon. This was not for me. I like coconut, but this was not what I expected. Whatever else is mixed in with it just made it smell like musty coconuts on me. Make that woody, musty coconuts. I was sort of embarrassed to have this scent on me; I actually worried that I smelled offensive. Sadly, this was a scrubber for me.

I was told exactly the same thing a butterbean (and have just left a comment on the article).
soldat34 – :
there is no difference in composition between 2013 and 2014 (I have both – they are IDENTICAL)
In fact, according to Estee Lauder all of the Bronze Goddess scents through the years are the same scent. I was told this by the EL manager at a department store and called EL headquarters in New York, and confirmed that the scent is the same, only the packaging and bottling change.
In Summer 2013 this is what was listed on the EL site for Bronze Goddess – it is the ACCURATE note listing for 2013 Bronze Goddess. Almost identical notes, and it smells identical side by side, and EL confirms it is the same scent.
From the Estee Lauder website in 2013, listed
“Bronze Goddess:
Top Notes:
Sicilian Bergamot
Mandarin
Middle Notes:
Tiare Milk-Tahitian Gardenia Petals
Coconut Oil
Orange Flower Buds
Jasmine
Magnolia Petals
Myrrh
Base Notes:
Amber
Sandalwood
Vetiver
Caramel
Coconut Cream
This scent is: BEACH, TROPICAL, SUN, SOFT, CREAMY COCONUT, LIGHTLY FLORAL. “

All about coconut, nothing special to my nose…
Edit: I got the body cream as a birthday gift! It will be coming with me on my holidays to the Greek islands! I hope we both enjoy our new affair! LOL !

*Moving my review over here since they finally added a page for the current version*
Bronze Goddess 2014 was an instant love for me. Light, creamy, warm, and somehow fresh all at the same time. The notes pyramid on Fragrantica are not at all correct. The fragrance is actually much more complex than this page would suggest. Bronze Goddess opens with a hint of lemon (sort of herbal, almost a lemongrass) under a creamy blend of florals and coconut. The initial blast does smell like sunscreen, but an expensive non synthetic blend rather than Coppertan. The drydown is heavenly, creamy coconut, a hint of magnolia, sandalwood, myrrh, and a glimpse of vetiver. It’s the perfect fragrance to make me feel warmer on dreary winter days, and I can’t wait to see how it does in warmer weather! Normally I would be a little put off that I couldn’t purchase a fragrance in a smaller bottle size, but I like this one so much that the 100mL shouldn’t be a problem for me to tackle. In fact, I may need to purchase a backup or two!
TL;DR: Try Bronze Goddess. You won’t be sorry. The EL site says that this fragrance worships every inch of you, and they’re definitely right.
kolea8806 – :
This is exactly what you’d expect from a tropical fragrance. Very exotic and beautiful, just as I’d hoped it would be. I was immediately transported to past summer holidays and romantic thoughts of sandy beaches in the sunshine. It does smell like suntan oil, but also has a certain freshness, which I didn’t expect. Very sweet and coconutty, which I really like. I sprayed this three times on my neck and on both wrists at the EL counter, wandered across the store and then realised that I could hardly smell it, so went back to the counter and sprayed a couple more times. Unfortunately I could hardly detect the scent within a couple of hours and even during that time it was very faint. It was lovely when I got wafts of it in the breeze but it has very disappointing longevity. Much as I loved the smell, I could only imagine wearing this on holiday or on very hot days. The need to constantly reapply would frustrate me, so regrettably I think I’m going to have to give this one a miss.
