4711 ICE BLUE COOL DAB-ON is a relaunch in the collection of Maurer & Wirtz 4711 announced as a modern eau de cologne with accentuated notes of fruits and luminous citruses. This fragrance is coming back on the market after perfume fans submitted numerous letters and mails to the address of the brand Maurer & Wirtz requesting a relaunch of the edition Ice Cool from 2008
Fragrance 4711 Ice Blue Cool Dab-On is perfect for summer and it arrives just in time. It offers an abundance of freshness provided by sparkling notes of bergamot, green accords of privet, violet and pineapple. The heart features a prominent note of mint with strong icy-cold peppermint aromas united with lily of the valley, peach and plum. The base is very sensual, composed of white musk, along with scents of amber and cedar.
The fragrance arrives in cylindrical glass flacons evoking frozen drops of water. The flacon is blue, with a metallic blue cap, leaving the impression of a cooling and refreshing fragrance inside. The fragrance 4711 Ice Blue Cool Dab-On is available as 40 ml eau de cologne.

More than a fragance, this is a product for the body care. The equivalent to a Mentos mint sweet. Smelled from the bottle, the cologne has nothing to do with the classic 4711, and recalls more fragances like Victor Green Tea or CK One (although it does not contain green tea among their ingredients). Reading the label of the product, I can see it contains menthol (like the 4711 shower gel) and Aloe Vera, in order to prevent this can dry too much the skin. As Mamehaviolette has noted before, the presentation is very original, and instead of a spray has some sort of sponge that you have to rub on your skin.
When you dab it on your skin, you feel like if you have rubbed a Mentos mint on it. That minty freshness, slighltly camphorous, with hints of eucalyptus. However, this feeling is ephemeral, and soon you are greeted with the same smell on the vague of CK One that you could detect from the bottle. In the other hand, the sensation of the menthol is still there and lasts a bit longer, although not too much.
As long as I know, this was first released during the 70’s, and had then a green box and a diamanté bottle, now used for the Acqua Colonia range. Its presence in the market was intermitent, and had several repackagings and surely and reformulations. It was, I think, very popular in some Asian countries. It was discontinued in the late 2000’s, and then reintroduced in 2014 in the current version, because of popular demand, but I think that only in Germany. It is a pity that where I live is really hard to get, because, mostly during the summer, it would have a great success.

This cologne is the pure essence of cool ice. The feeling of sharpness is given by the bergamot and a soothing, chilling effect is given by the coldest peppermint.
This bottle is very particular. It has a sponge on the very end and you have to squeeze it on your skin to “spray it”.
The price is almost unbelievable: 5,95 for 40ml!
