Description

The collection that will mark the beginning of 2016 at the The Body Shop is the new fragrant line BRITISH ROSE based on and inspired by beautiful fragrant English rose flowers exuding elegance and femininity. Rose flower, according to the brand The Body Shop, has rich and diverse scent, from fresh, dewy, gentle and cold, to elegant, warm, deep and velvety shades. What is most important for this flower is that it is rich in vitamin C and other very nutritious matter which nourish the skin and provide it with particular gentleness, softness and silky effect.

The English rose used for the new collection BRITISH ROSE originates from rose farm, growing organic plants, without use of pesticides and without chemical processes, with an aim to preserve the nature and maintain balance in eco-friendly environment. Rose scent used for this collection is extremely elegant, gentle, very smooth, just like rose petal. The roses used for the collection of British Rose are hand-picked by breeders, carefully selected and extracted as the purest natural organic roses, aimed at creating top quality products.

The Body Shop British Rose collection includes a 100ml EDT; British Rose Instant Glow Body Essence – perfumed body lotion which will make your skin as gentle as rose petals and hydrate the skin during 24 hours; British Rose Shower Gel – perfumed shower gel with essences of hand-picked rose; British Rose Petal Soft Hand Cream – perfumed hand cream which does not grease the skin and is absorbed immediately; British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter – perfumed body butter for normal and dry skin, providing 24 h hydration and British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub – perfumed body peeling which includes real rose petals.

I feel like the child who said the emperor has no clothes because most of the reviews here are gushing, but I have to report that this is weak and almost nonexistent. Spray, spray, spray…tiny bit of rose…boof! Gone.
The glimmer I get is really nice. Rose without peony for a change. Sometimes I think I smell a little of it…just a whiff.
Unacceptable performance. I will keep this to spray on when I want a slight pick me up since I adore roses. So sad.

very good quality soliflore, on me it’s fresh and green: like a freshly cut rose still with the green stem. surprisingly long-lasting on my skin, given that it is a body-shop EDT. I find it very handy for layering too. Just now layered it with a local amber body mist (not listed here) it’s haven, smells super expensive, warm, and comforting. I like comfortable and wearable scent for everyday use. And this is it.

Very nice and elegant rose here. Longevity is moderate so that’s good. Reminds me of Ralph Lauren romance, but it isn’t a copy.

Very elegant, fresh and pleasant. Refined, far from cheap/trashy. Relaxing and kind in its nature. And the bottle is Nice, too.

This one is citrusy rose…very similar with Gabriel Chanel

fisrt blast is citrus and soapy rose, then morph into more subtle and creamy rose. unlike atlas mountain rose, british rose doesn’t turn sour on my skin. but eventho it’s EDT, the longevity is just weak as the other fragrance mist.

    Like
Very good, lasted well, far more than the usual body shop offerings
I usually have s rose bottle from the body shop on rotation, somewhere.
    I would buy
This and the black musk lasted well, the others in the women’s range are like a fart in the wind.
No, I’m being mean, um, the general range IMO are layering or for mixing, but if you have ofther perfumes use them up. TBS range are more inexpensive so that’s good, this rose one is a goodie, this is a summer test though, in winter it might only last an hour- but I’m guessing there, so go try and make your own mind up.
Oh, it’s not far off the rose perfumes that l’occitane provide.

What a beautiful surprise! I have been on the hunt for a fresh, clean and pretty rose perfume and what a struggle it has been. Everything I had tried was too sweet, powdery or heavy. And most rose perfumes seem to turn sour on my skin. So it has been tough! The only one that I have been reasonably happy with is Florabotanica but that is even sometimes too much. I had given up but this caught my and eye and gave it a test without expecting much. I was taken back by how fresh and realistic it was. A bit green but that’s the way I like it. Prevents it from becoming sickly I find. I didn’t want to get my hopes up so I let it settle to see if the usual sourness appeared. But no it remained a clean and pretty. Perfect for year round use, any time of the day. Just like a breeze carrying the scent of beautiful fresh roses. In the dry down I detect hints of Coco Mademoiselle. Such a delightful find!

A very elegant scent, it actually smells like roses. The negative part is that is NOT long lasting. In 15 min, it’s all gone. Too bad, because it needs layering and it can be expensive.

Nice and yes, very British, perfect rose scent but unfortunately with a really bad dry down. First smell is wow and after two seconds it’s yuck.

Ok so alot of rose perfumes have been introduced lately but theres always something wrong
    Either too harsh
    Too soapy
    Smells old
Or the dry down is aweful
This however is a winner 🙂 I’ll explain
Its got a very classy floral notes to it kinnda like pleasures by esttee lauder
The rose note in it is very elegant tea rose , fresh & dewy (watery)
    Great price
Can layer it with its body butter or Lotion
EXCELLENT & well done body shop

I am absolutely in love with the EDT. To me, it has a bit of Coco Mademoiselle vibe to it. It could be because of its very strong rose note. What’s more it’s reasonable price is what attracts me to it & the nice simple bottle design

The body butter is currently all I have in this collection…but let me say that it is perfection!!! Rose along with citrus and peach to create a bubbly, fresh, addicting scent! I must get the actual edt now! I am head over heels in love!!!!!

    @Gigi The Fashionista
The first time I fall in love with Rose scent is when I tried the Rose A’La Folie By Givenchy from Eau De Moiselle line. It’s smells dewy, fresh, green & sweet at the same time. So so so in love !
The type of rose scent that I don’t really fancy is the rosy, powdery & warm. It’s lovely & sensual but I just can’t.
Tried this 3 days ago and I love it. But was hesitant to grab it because it’s only an Eau De Toilette scent so I knew it will be bad in projection & staying power.
But after reading your review, i definitely will get it along with the body butter and in fact I might probably get the shower gel as well. Thanks for the wonderful review, Gigi.

Great composite rendering of a fresh, young dewy rose. It is mild yet crisp and manages to capture the airy aroma of a rose. I like that it is not herbal green yet has a hint of the fresh citrus that a primrose would have. It is not long lasting, but it does last a bit longer in warmer weather. The body butter is wonderful and elevates the liquid fragrance. I love that it is not cloying and that it smells nice on clothes and scarves. It plays well with the other fragrances containing rose that I have combined so far. This is a solid neoclassical repeat buy. Thanks, TBS!

A pretty tea rose scent, fresh, sweet, definitely can detect the underlying “tea” aroma. Not a musky, or old fashioned rose scent. Subtle. This works best if you layer the fragrance over the coordinating body butter, then the longevity improves. Delightful summer fragrance.

    Low longevity… fresh rose

A pretty rose fragrance, smells like a fresh and dewy David Austin pink rose after the rain. Very British rose scent. Increase the longevity by layering it over the body butter. If they had only made a dusting powder to lock in and enhance the longevity of this beautiful fragrance.

  20. :

I do enjoy wearing British rose! It is an eau de toilette, so longevity is a bit lacking, but if you are a rose lover I believe it is one of the closest perfumes to the genuine product. It is very gentle but not too sweet, probably smells more like a rose bud than a proper blooming flower.

  21. :

This is the kind of rose scent I’ve been waiting for for a very long time. I like it better than the Atlas Mountain Rose. It reminds me so much of a fresh, dewy bouquet of roses. No frills and additives, just pure rose. Longevity could be better, but will always leave a faint hint of the scent on my skin even by the end of the day. Lasts 3 hours on me.

  22. :

Love this scent. It last forever on me, like literally 3 to 4 hours.

British Rose is a delightful fresh and balmy rose scent with a touch of citruses and hint of green, mildly honey sweet. I love this as much as I love Moringa and Vanilla Chai.

  24. :

    3 out of 5

A delightfuly light scent, British Rose is perfectly peppery, soapy, sweet. There’s definitely more than just rose going on here. Though the scent is largely linear, it’s not exactly one note. I get bergamot and hibiscus at the opening and something like sea salt is there too, something crystalline.
Poor longevity and silage unfortunately. This is a fragrance to wear to the office.

    Top notes: Bergamot and tangerine
Heart notes: Waterlily, rose water and peony
Base notes: Peach and cruelty-free musks
There is not Only rose in it, Guy . I bought this perfume yesterday and I found it kind a nice even it is not 100% made by Rose essential oil. The rose essentiAl oil Ramon one of the expensive essential oil in perfume industry. First impression when I smell it was ok . It is not the expensive in Canada. Only 20$

    Fragrance Review For British Rose
    The Body Shop
    Notes
    Rose
For a simple, realistic floral rose scent, this is such a fine fragrance.
In the vein of a Bath & Body Works scent, but as a solifore. Not quite a Rose Water by Crab Tree & Evelyn, and not a monster rose like Tea Rose by Perfumer’s Workshop. This falls in a lovely middle area. I have the fragrance and the body butter. I love to smell of roses after my bath. The body butter helps to bring out the fragrance and give it a projection although it’s not too heavy either.
This smells like a traditional English rose, green, aromatic, and a tad sweet. It’s a fragrance of rose and bushes of roses. It’s summery and fresh. It goes so well with my skin chemistry. Out of all the flowers the rose has always blended well with human skin. It’s green and citrusy, sweet and strong. It does not smell of hand soap or powder. It’s pure rose out in the wild.
This is a new fragrance from The Body Shop so it’s out there and waiting for you to take her home.
Because it is such a fine and down to earth rose without sugar sweet candies and powder, it’s also a good room spray for your home. I can never tire of the smell of roses and I find it to be quite romantic and like a rose garden.
    Buy it today!

This is how I like my rose perfume: only rose, nothing added. This is a very realistic, natural, beautiful rose perfume. I have the whole set and I especially love the body butter!

I REALLY love this fragrance. It is so fresh, so nice, not overwhelming and really easy to wear. I like to use it before the gym, before bed at night or somewhere where I don’t want to wear a fragrance bomb. On me, it lasts about 4 hours and then after that, I can still smell it but only very lightly. If I spray it on my clothes it lasts for days. I always get so many compliments when I wear this fragrance. It’s a big thumbs up from me.

This is more than simply rose, I just need to work out what else!. A freshness is there, crispness.

THIS is what a rose perfume should smell like, it’s very pretty, subtle, extremely natural smelling (not at all synthetic like so many I have tried so hard to find in a rose fragrance). It is lovely on its own but can so easily be layered with a multitude of scents since it is so natural and “quiet” with a very flirty sexiness to it. LOVE it and I’m not even a big floral scent person but with it being a TRUE rose aroma, it’s really quite gorgeous!
Just a personal note/opinion: I’m not much of a lavender fan and I know many love to spritz their pillows with it to achieve a relaxing, calming feel. This is a beautiful substitute for me (and others who may not like lavender too much). It gives off such a pleasant, enticing and definitely a candlelight mood setting environment, for the perfect added touch of a sensual setting. ☺

This is a nice basic green rose. It does smell like the flower itself, so natural and green and demure. Believe me it is exactly the scent of a rose in the garden. But there is nothing more but rose. I like it. The bottle is simple and elegant. However the perfume has really poor silage and is gone in 2 minutes. One needs to keep re-applying. I did catch a faint hint of the fragrance on my clothes the next day but that was me squirting the perfume at least 6-7 times. I will use it up fairly quickly but wouldn’t repurchase. I wish it had the body and life of the sadly discontinued Moroccan Rose that cost 8 British pounds.
I had a lot of respect for body shop until I read the label and found most of their skin care is loaded with Alcohol ,Silicones and sulphates. I had just hoped for a bit more from their fragrance.

It is like a spring/summer breeze, very pleasant but not strong. Maybe some peony present as well.It is rather like a body spray. Perfect if your aim is to smell fresh at work.

  34. :

Light, simple, unexceptional rose, smelling rather like hand softener. Longevity is not as bad as I initially thought, it’s just that it’s a very soft scent.

  35. :

Had a trial spray of this one today. So simple and light that it almost smells like an expensive rose candle. This is not a watery rose like Kate by Kate Moss and doesn’t have the depth and musky notes of Stella. It does have a dewy green note that comes through every now and then and a little bit of a sugary/sweet thing going on as is the case with virtually all TBS fragrances. I also compared it to TBS Atlas Rose and it is quieter and more youthful, without that harsh plastic feel that Atlas has.
The bad news is the longevity. Literally 30 minutes tops on me, and I’m one of those oily skinned people who can really hold a scent. I also tested on a hot humid day but it was still skinscent city within 15 minutes. Maybe the bath and body range will save it.
This is definitely more of a soft English Rose than a cheeky, bold British Rose.

    Roses upon roses. And roses.
Nothing more really. Very linear. Clean, crisp, dewy. Roses.
Nice little spray for spring. Keep it in your purse, because you’ll want to re-apply. Lasting power is…meh. Fuji Green Tea is in the same product category, and that one lasts a lot longer, even when being labeled as a cologne rather than an EdT.

    A lovely light rose fragrance.
It’s too sweet to directly remind me of any particular rose, but it’s pretty and rosy nonetheless.
Feels like a body spray more than an edt, but if sweet rose is what you love then it’s certainly worth the low price.

    Just tested this afternoon.
A simple rose fragance, with citrical and watery notes in the opening and a velvetly background. Very reminiscent of the previous Moroccan Rose, by TBS, too, and Yves Rocher Rose Fraîche. Lasting power and sillage are almost zero. It’s nice and pleasant, but not original at all, and this thing has been done dozens and dozens of times before. I think the main purpose of this is to complement the new matching line of bath and body care products based on British Rose. There are far better rose fragances in the market, and some of them are even cheaper.

Bought it yesterday, was originally intrigued by it when it was mentioned by a fellow fragrantican. It is lovely, subtle and slightly fruity rose. Reminds me fondly of Oceanus that I used to wear it by the gallons during my teenage years which has sadly been discontinued. Having said that, it feels rounder and more soothing than Oceanus which some commented the sharpness of it. Longevity is quite weak on me, about 2 to 3 hours. I quite like it and it is affordable enough to be sprayed on liberally. Nice and comforting fragrance on the whole.
