Description

Boyfriend captures the smell of men’s fragrance mixed with women’s, men’s cologne that lingers on the skin of his girlfriend, merging woody notes with amber and flowers. Dark plum and myrrh open the composition, fading into a floral bouquet of lily, night blooming jasmine and musk.

“You ever miss the scent of your boyfriend on your skin? Well, I did. So I created BOYFRIEND, a fragrance inspired by him but made for us. It’s got all the floral notes that we ladies love and that warm, woody, amber musk that makes you purr like a jungle cat. Now you can take your Boyfriend with you wherever you go. Stay tuned…I can’t wait for you to meet my BOYFRIEND.” Kate Walsh tells us.

The fragrance was developed in collaboration with the company HSN (Home Shopping Club) and Givaudan perfumery, created by the nose Marypierre Julien. Terry Richardson is a photographer of the advertising campaign featuring naked Kate wrapped in a sheet holding the bottle and slogans “Boyfriend” and “Wear Him”.

Vintage like bottle is shaped as the classic Chanel editions. The names of her former boyfriends are printed in ghostwriting on the bottle of the Boyfriend fragrance.

Kate Walsh Boyfriend launches on 11th November 2010 as a collection of five products. It includes 15 ml EDP, 5 ml pulse points perfume oil, 30 ml dry body oil, 50 ml body cream and 24 g candle, all packed in a black cosmetic bag at a price of $ 79.99.

Culty, and it carries that price
It has the same warm, vanilla vibe as Joop, Cashmir. These are so beautiful. But my boyfriend is quite a dud, diluted, not spectacular. There’s no woody “masculinity” in this, if that’s the reference for his name. It’s not lasting. And since I didn’t own the original, I cannot tell you how it would compare.
Not in must buy, must have, better get another before it’s too late, gift me lists
Not worth dating. My momma said move on

Luscious vanilla, amber, and plum.. like a decadent, syrupy dessert. I don’t find this to be at all masculine so I’m not sure where the name “Boyfriend” came from as this is very much a voluptuous, womanly scent.. perfect for evening wear as it’s rather heavy and cloying if oversprayed. It’s quite strong, one spray will do! Not my style of scent but I appreciate it and can see why it’s so hyped up.. it’s really good for a celeb scent!

I love this perfume. I am on my last bottle from before it got discontinued, I just bought the new release of it as well, just in time. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this. I hope the new release hasn’t been changed. I am starting to ordr Alkemia oils from Etsy. I love Hippie Spirit, it smells like incense but has many layers, unlike the oils I am used to getting. Psychedelic is another great from Alkemia if you like incense. I like unisex, incense scents. I stay away from sweet, food scents, not usually a fan of vanilla, but I do like amber.

I’m absolutely thrilled the original Boyfriend is coming back! What concerns me is the reformulation! I read our beloved Boyfriend was undergoing testing prior it’s release. It they changed it, it will not smell like the Boyfriend we loved. I’m hoping the scent will smell the same, because I’ve spent a fortune buying the original in samples/used bottles/new bottles on Ebay. I will never understand why they discontinued it in the first place. It was a VERY POPULAR PERFUME. I love it so much, I could bath in it. If there’s one scent I could wear the rest of my life, this would be it. I’ve worn a lot of scents in my life. I get more compliments wearing the Original Boyfriend than any others I’ve worn. Let’s keep our fingers crossed this will smell just as amazing as the original!

This is apparently coming back. Saw it mentioned on Kate Walsh’s Instagram, and there’s actually a Boyfriend Perfume Instagram with a link in the bio to click to sign up for notifications of when it’s available. So just sharing. I wish some other perfumes would come back. Sigh. Lol.

I have the pulse point roller oil. Basically, this is a very very dry vanilla. Period. It is not sweet. It smells like a dry woody vanilla with maybe some musk underlying. No florals. No plum.

If you loved Boyfriend and are looking for a dupe of it now that it’s discontinued, definitely try out Valentina Myrrh Assoluto by Valentino. The resinous myrrh note is extremely similar.

Boyfriend is a heartbreaker. It’s like that one crush that got away.
Boyfriend is a gorgeous scent, full of warm amber and woods.
This is very much a lush, woody oriental fragrance. The floral notes add some lightness, but they are not prominent.
Sadly, Boyfriend is a bit of a unicorn. You can find bottles, but they are pricey. The standard eBay caveats apply – might be spoilt, might be fake, might be perfect.
This is still one of my favorites and I’m carefully using my bottle as a special pick-me-up. People love this and always ask about it – always a nice thing to have happen when you’re feeling a bit blue.

Perfume oil spray is fantastic very lasting moisturizing perfume. Smells sophisticated, not typical celebrity brand,
    too bad discontinued.

I tend to avoid celebrity fragrances but this is an exception. Very unique, rich, warm scent. Surprised not to see leather listed as a note. When summer starts to fade to fall, this will again go into my weekly circulation.

  11. :

    4 out of 5

I tested this without checking the notes in advance, and I will tell you that I am surprised to see this fragrance listed as a floral-woody-musk! It behaved more like a woody-oriental on me.
I know this makes no sense based on the notes that are listed, but I can tell you that it was definitely (on my skin) a sticky-sweet patchouli-myrrh-aoud scent! The patchouli does fade in the dry-down, but there was no denying its presence in the top notes

Deep smoky woods, Amber and Myrrh with a hint of boozy plum and a touch of sweetness. What’s wonderful about this scent, is that all the best notes that are usually at the BASE of a scent are the most prominent, I can hardly notice the florals at all. I think it’s just assumed with women’s fragrances that most women don’t want the dark, dirty, intense notes to be too noticeable in a scent. It’s too masculine, thus it took a concept scent like Boyfriend to finally deliver for us woods/resin loving women, what is usually assumed to be better suited for men. Just sniffing the cap was enough to make me swoon, and when it hit my skin…This really smells wonderful and I can’t imagine why this was ever discontinued. I can definitly see what all the hype is about with this one. Without a doubt, it’s the best celebrity scent ever created. For us woods/resins lovers this really could be the holy grail of fragrance, BUT it sticks pretty close to the skin. If it projected a bit more it would be perfect. Ah hell, it’s perfect anyway. Someone needs to start a petition to bring it back. Maybe I will. UPDATE: this really has the most wonderful inside of a cedar chest smell but even more, it smells like cedar sap, cedar resin if you will. Something I am very familiar with from my childhood in Colorado. This makes me cherish this scent even more. For those looking for a similar scent, the plummy amber with a woods base is very similar to Marc Jacobs Decadence.

THIS!! This! This is the stuff of legends. I can understand many things, but the discontinuation of this fragrance is not one of them. I die a little each day knowing this smell has a limited shelf life. I have been on a nasal quest since this fragrance stopped being produced, but why? Why I ask?!! Give me a dupe!!!!!! I don’t UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!
*Someone is auctioning bottles on ebay right now, don’t know how they got them, don’t care… I got one for $75. Worth checking into if you’re looking for a reasonably priced bottle.
**Also, while the pulse point oil is nice, it’s not very similar to the perfume. Much sweeter/balmier.

I love Boyfriend perfume. It is perfect for fall and winter. Very cozy! It is still being sold. Yeah! Just google “yourboyfriend.com”. Hope this helps anyone who loves this fragrance.

If you miss this, try Golden Sand by Al-Rehab and Midnight Shimmer by Michael Kors. They’re similar to this one. Sweet, fruity, woody vanilla and amber with a hint of floral as well.
Contrary to the review above me, the original Boyfriend is not currently being sold on yourboyfriend.com they had some old stock about a year ago, but now only small bottles of Billionaire Boyfriend available and my understanding is the original Boyfriend is discontinued.

Lovely comforting scent but EUR 370,90 seems an absurd price for 0.50 oz of it. My sample is gone now so I am enjoying it for the last time in all probability. Never mind, it was good while it lasted.

I wish this was still being sold… I miss it and want it esp with fall coming. 🙁 It’s deep and rich. I love it

During the opening of Boyfriend, the myrrh is strong and I suppose slightly bitter, and I don’t really enjoy it here, even though I like this note in other perfumes. A thick, sweet and viscous amber then takes over, before something a bit sweet and fruity, that smells kind of soft in a “perfumey” sort of way. I think this is the plum. The benzoin resin emerges next, and it is present through to the dry-down, along with some sort of light woods. There is a thread of vanilla that winds its way throughout the duration of this scent as well, and I do find this to smell synthetic. My skin will always prominently project a synthetic vanilla, and here the amber and the vanilla are the two most dominant notes that together give a sweet, smooth and creamy feeling.
The top-notes of Boyfriend remind me of another perfume. I think it similar to something like L’Accord Code 119 Caron or Dior Miss Cherie (heavy amber, plus sweet fruits) without the dominant patchouli. I always thought that if I ever smelt something similar to the aforementioned scents (without patchouli) I’d be into it, but I’m indifferent to this. However, if you love perfumes similar to above two but you don’t enjoy that “heavy feeling” that they all seem to have, try this, as here there is a similar sort of “feel” whilst it always remains light and never smells heavy.
Whilst I love the idea behind this scent, it doesn’t smell like “the scent of my boyfriend” on me. I find it too sweet for that, but perhaps this is a skin chemistry thing, I’m not sure. Longevity is for about 6-7 hours; soft to moderate sillage.

This is one of my favorite fragrances, I really love it and wish I had bought the large bottle when I first purchased it. It is a boozy (in the best way possible, like bourbon, w a hint of vanilla), lightly smoky, wood amber. After the opening (which is not my favorite part) it quickly settles into a smooth fragrance with good projection, but not overwhelming for others. I don’t smell the Myrrh as the strongest note and it is quite sweet while being ‘masculine.’ I am still in shock that this was discontinued and I stopped spraying so freely when I found out. It seems like such a shame, especially with all of the positive reviews!

I only have a roller ball of this…so regret not buying this back then and I came SO close to… ugh bummer 🙁
So creamy and vanilla; a warm soft comfortable blanket of a scent on me 🙂

I love Kate Walsh fragrances and they love me back. This goes so well with my chemistry. I brought a five roller ball set with the certificate for a larger bottle. I can’t decide on which, but I will most definitely add the creamy, woodsy, rich and lush, soft and powdery sweet smelling dream of a scent. It is different from most of my scents in my collection. I must keep it in.

This was instantly my signature the moment I smelled it at Sephora, I knew it. I had never smelled anything like it. It was just what I wanted but didn’t know existed until that moment and it was a eureka moment for me. I became obsessed with fragrance after that. I first started wearing actual perfume and not just body spray or essential oils when I was 25 and my first one was Lancôme Poem wich was my signature I guess. I wore it every day because it was my only perfume, I liked it and got compliments but i was not in love like I am with Boyfriend at all, I was in that 25 year old like it enough place. I thought Poem was the best there was for me, was the best I could do. I had not entered the world of unusual perfumes yet even slightly and I was/am an unusual type person. Boyfriend is the perfect combination of unique and exotic but also extremely wearable and balanced. It is pure perfection to me. It has it all, sweet and warm for the gourmand lover, a sexy tease of soft floral that is hard to single out but makes the dead sexy manly musk and woods a feminine scent just like a magic wand.
Like I said, it is my signature scent and I am heart broken I can’t get it anymore. I covet my half of a bottle I have left like golem does the Ring…my precious! *tear*.
Does anyone know if those websites that recreate discontinued scents ever do a good job or better yet have you ordered boyfriend off of one of them? I am so close to jumping that route.

I really love this perfume!!! The description of this sounded enticing, and I bought a sample of it several years ago. I never wanted to splurge on a bottle of this, so I eventually bought a rollerball for less money. Unfortunately, I always felt that the rollerball oil was a little off from how I remembered my sample vial to smell. Since then, I came across an entire gift basket of this at the Goodwill for $5.99!!! WOW!!!! It looked like someone received this as a gift and took one sniff and sent it on its way!! I had to buy it!! Now I have a bottle of it, and I will probably never give it up 🙂 It is a great unisex scent that really does smell like a men’s cologne. I have gotten compliments on this, and it also lasts all day on me, which is awesome! It does have a somewhat vintage men’s cologne scent about it, but then again, it smells like a fresh cologne at the same time…I am 36 and I do really love it. It is more of a winter scent for me, and I think it could be an everyday scent as well. But I have so many scents I have to rotate and choose something each day based on my mood 🙂

I wore this for a few years as a year-round (both summer and winter) everyday scent. I had grown tired of Obsession and wanted something else. It’s an amber rich, sandalwood scent. It lingers and I love that. Lovely, the sort of scent I always fall for. I haven’t smelled it in a while since I’ve run out and can’t find it in stores any more. After a few other go-around with other fragrances, I went back to wearing Obsession daily.

Very rich, powerful amber scent. Kind of intense.

What was I thinking blind buying this fragrance. I’m so particular about my fragrances, and this is just awful. It’s so bad it’s making me laugh, and nauseated. It’s very heavy on the Frankincense, so if you like that type of heavy, sweet scent, you’ll like this. Just don’t wear it riding next to me on the subway during rush hour. Oh well. I’m never blind buying fragrance again.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so nice. I really like it and glad I received a sample. It really does smell like it is described. Like when I use my wife’s towel after a shower and smell a little gender confused afterwards.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

I have the oil version and it’s a little rough around the edges, I prefer her other scent, Billionaire Boyfriend.  This seems unfinished, unbalanced.  It’s mostly myrhh and while I love myrhh, I would like a little something to balance it out.  Like, more acid needed in a rich dish to balance out the fat.  It is lovely though for what it is.  The concept is very cool, totally unique.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

I have mixed feelings about this fragrance. It’s a strong perfume. It smells vintage, and I’m not always into that type of scent. It also has a bit of earthy sweetness. It reminds me a little of Prada Amber. I thought for some reason this had patchouli. It does have a great lasting power and strong silage.
Bottom line, it’s a perfume I would just keep a sample of, or wouldn’t mind finding a good deal for a roller ball. I would wear it whenever I was in the mood for it, every now…and then. Don’t love it enough to buy a full bottle.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I LOVE this scent and am so bummed that it’s being discontinued! It smells so much better than Billionaire Boyfriend in my opinion, so I’d much rather have seen them discontinue that one instead.
A little bit about my scent preferences: I am a 33 year old woman (who still feels and acts like she’s 16, unfortunately or fortunately) and I have always loved scents that are masculine leaning. For example, I LOVE Oud Wood by Tom Ford in the lotion form. I love wood and leather scents, but I also love some sweeter stuff mixed in like vanilla and amber.
I regularly use Tokyomilk’s Excess (so awesome!) and Tokyomilk’s Tainted Love (leans a little feminine, but soo delicious!). Boyfriend by Kate Walsh is my third favorite scent. My 68 year old mother loves it too and, whenever she wears it, I have to stop and ask what she’s wearing. It smells a little differently on her than on me, but delicious all the same.
This scent has the perfect balance of sweet smells like amber (do I also detect some vanilla?) and masculine smells (wood, smoke, incense). It does not last very long though, which is my only complaint.
I’d suggest spraying it on clothing and hair to get a longer lasting scent.
When I spray it on before bed, by morning, it is barely detectable but does leave behind a really nice powdery wood scent that wears close to the skin.
I do prefer this scent in the body oil and rollerball forms. These smell better to me than the spray.
Oh my gosh, also, the limited edition scented candles that she released when this first came out are the most amazing smelling candles I’ve ever had (and I’ve had lots)..
I recommend snatching this scent up from the website and/or ebay before they have sold out for good!
p.s. Just my two cents: I really hate when someone calls a scent an “old lady scent”. Ageism is just as offensive as racism and sexism. How do you think a 60 or 80 year old woman who is still young at heart feels when you call something a “stinky old lady scent”? I cringe whenever I’m hanging out with my mom and I hear or read something like this. SO offensive! I hope when the people who say these types of things are old themselves, they will finally understand how rude they’ve been. Grow up and think about what you’re saying before you spit it out of that mouth of yours.

Boyfriend is the only celebrity scent that I own. I bought it because another reviewer mentioned that it is a dupe for Organza Indecense. Since OI has been reformulated and the reviews were not favorable, I decided to give Boyfriend a try. Although they are very similar, IMO, the quality of the ingredients in the original OI are much better. With that said, Boyfriend reminds me of warm cinnamon buns with raisins that have been iced with an orange glaze. I don’t find anything masculine about it. It is a nice scent for fall and winter.

I recently ordered another rollerball of oil from eBay.I have only used the oil.I like this in cooler weather, never in the heat.It has a warming effect on the skin: very spicy, sensual and mystical. The myrrh is the standout for me and I love its seduction.

When I first spray Boyfriend, I get a massive blast of vanilla and bourbon. I’d be in a mighty heap of trouble if I got pulled over by the police. A few minutes later, I also begin to smell a very sweet bubble gum note, which I assume is the plum. The woods are there, but very faint on me. I wish Boyfriend weren’t quite so sweet. I can’t smell the forest for the candy shop.

  38. :

This is ok. I didn’t love it or hate it. It was woodsy, but I prefer many others over this.

This one smelled absolutely divine…on my boyfriends co-worker. She leaned in to hug me and I just HAD to know what she had on. She said it was ‘boyfriend’ and I made my boyfriend get some for me. Unfortunately it did not smell at all like it did on her. On me it smelled sharp and synthetic, on her it smelled like a creamy, woodsy, vanilla dream. I guess I can only enjoy it on others *sigh*

  40. :

    3 out of 5

I got a sample from a friend who said there are some guys who like this too.
To me, it’s another vanilla concoction. I can smell a bit of almond and a slight bit of musk as well but there’s nothing groundbreaking here.
In my opinion, it’s a very feminine fragrance.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I can’t hang with this one. I was SO excited to try it due to the rave reviews, so I blind-bought it. I thought it sounded like something I’d really love, since I tend toward those sexy, semi-masculine, heavy perfumes. This did not work out for me at all. I think it’s horrible and cheap smelling.
I didn’t like how it smelled in the bottle, but I’m enough of a perfume veteran now to know the scent often changes on your skin, so I took one for the team and put it on. I think I made it about 30 minutes before I tapped out and practically scrubbed my wrist raw trying to get rid of it. I’ll say this: that shizz LASTS, y’all. Ugh. It hung around for most of the night and nauseated the hell out of me. It’s one of those ones you can feel scratching at the back of your throat every time you breathe. Yay.
If you’re on the fence, I really, really recommend trying to get hold of a sample first. This is not a safe one to blind buy, in my opinion. Good luck.

The brief for this one must have read, “We are shooting for sexy potpourri.”

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Wow- what a surprise 🙂 Thanks to a lovely memeber I finally got to test this.
Although I really find it lovely and well made I am surprised about the sweetness the scent developes on me. A juicy or more of a “rumy” plum mixed with amber and myrhh and a little woodiness. Kind of like a Christmas cocktail if that makes sense. But a very delicious one!
I agree that this would be loved/liked by Prada, Fancy Nights or even Marni owners as well. It’s definitely part of that family.
    Great job, Kate!

Gorgeous. Autumn leaves, cool weather, a fire place and hot chocolate. Oversized sweater, jeans and socks. Definitely comfy and cozy. A beautiful fall scent.
I’ve read so many reviews before where a perfume is referred to as “buttery”, and I’ve always wondered what they meant. Well, one sniff of this and my mind immediately conjured up a large tub of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. That’s not to say it smells like butter, per se, but this scent is an extremely buttery amber/vanilla. Lovely and yummy, as long as you can get past the thickness of it – almost smells like Glade’s Cashmere Woods room spray.

  45. :

    4 out of 5

Ok…the first few spritzes are VERY spicey and incensey on me…almost to the point where I smell like Christmas potpourri more than sexy perfume….I get the impression of more than just myrrh here, but I think that is the combination of myrrh and woods mixing with my chemistry.
I don’t get any dark plum in the opener, and it takes a bit for this to soften up on me, but once it does, it is divine!
It was a blind buy based on all of the reviews, and luckily it is still available online for decent prices.
Once this scent starts to dry down, I get a wonderful woodsy notes with warm amber and the myrrh still lingers, offering a resinous spice to the mix…and the musk is a soft cozy musk, just like the boyfriend’s fisherman’s sweater that has been borrowed to keep warm in on a blustery fall day. No jasmine or LOTV show up on my skin, this is so well blended they might be there but as background players.
I’ve already gotten a backup of this one, and I just have to urge anyone that tries this to understand that the opening is not indicative of the full scent. Give it a chance to warm up on you, you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

  46. :

    3 out of 5

Not to be bold, but this perfume smells like you just had a role in the hay with your boyfriend. It is very woodsy and spicy. I get a real sense that my sweet sophisticated perfume just intermingled with his spicy woodsy colonge. Now, we have given birth to “Boyfriend.” It has very unisex qualities to it. On me, the cedar accord is very dominate. On the skin, I can smell the sweetness of the parfum. It is not sickly sweet by any means. It is more of a comforting sweetness. My boyfriend wears very woodsy colonges; so this parfum reminds me of him in the best way. I love this perfume. I love the concept. It has become my cold weather staple. It is super long lasting and fabulous!

  47. :

When I first spritzed this on I felt like I smelled a bit like a hamster cage but then after a about a half hour I just loved it. Its warm, creamy and I smell a bit of a vanilla even though there isnt any in it. I love this and definitely would wear it again.

  48. :

    5 out of 5

This scent is absolutely beautiful. It is rich, sweet, smoky, toe-curling, and embracing. I ordered this in a tiny bottle, because I wasn’t sure if I would like it. Well…I adore it. The plum mingles elegantly with sweet myrrh…And I am in a near panic that it has been discontinued and I wont be able to find it anywhere (why Kate Walsh? why!?). The downside is that it seems to project very little, and the staying power is very disappointing. It is like a “whoosh” of the most perfect thing I have ever smelled, and minutes later it grows quiet and fades gently away. I will probably buy the oil, just to see if it lingers on the skin better than the fragrance. If not, I will be beginning a life long quest to find a suitable substitute/ dupe : ( If anyone knows of one, please let me know!

As soon as I saw these notes I knew I would love Boyfriend. I hunted down a bottle and blind bought it and I was not disappointed.
Boyfriend is a treasure – rich, smoky, sweet and warm. So unlike any other celebrity scent I have ever tried. Definitely one for cold weather, perfectly comforting.
I immediately found a larger size bottle and bought that too.
Sillage is moderate and lasting power on me is wonderful.

This to me is in the same vein as Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black, but this is better. It’s creamier, lasts longer and has more depth. I like this perfume. I’m not really sure who Kate Walsh is, but from reading reviews I’ve gleaned she’s some sort of celebrity. I like that this isn’t your predictable celeb scent loaded with fruit and sugar and such. I know there isn’t vanilla in the notes, but I smell a thick, non sweet vanilla. Maybe it’s something else giving the impression of vanilla. This makes me yearn for a log cabin in New England in the winter with a nice whiskey and a comfortable sweater and a fire place. If this had some smoke in it I’d be in heaven. Very laid back, relaxed scent.

I had absolutely no interest in this scent since it had come out. By chance, I had put a little on a few weeks ago and could not get the creamy syrup-y woody notes out of my mind AND it smells so expensive.
Purchased the roller ball oil as it turned out to be a MUST have.
It opens with sweet amber, dry wood and a hint of plum, almost in a dried fruit form. As it lingers, to me it almost smells of cashmere on a rainy day; cozy, musky, woody serenity.
It is actually doing very well in warm weather too!
UPDATE: I applied this about 8 hours ago, only to one arm and the scent is still incredible, detecting from about 8-12 inches away…

I have this in the roll-on. It’s just a little too sweet to be a true gender neutral, but it satisfies the effect of wearing something with his cologne on it over something with your own perfume. It’s a kicky blend and I like it a lot.

I really like the woodsy note. But this one is not diluted (to my nose) or sweetened by anything else, so it comes off as too dry. Like I was rolling around in wood shavings all day long and did nothing else.

A spicy, almost masculine opening greets you. And then it warms up to you, and wraps its arms around you for the rest of the day. I ended up loving this scent from start to finish. It’s like wearing a big, comfy sweater, daring bra, and sexy jeans for hanging out at home.

Boyfriend would be a great suggestion for someone who loves “Paloma Picasso” but thinks that one is too strong/unwearable. First spray of Boyfriend was heavy, warm myrhh and it was almost like men’s cologne– but the drydown is beautiful and reminds me of a more gentle “Paloma Picasso” 🙂 I woke up and the incredible scent was still there.

Warm, sweetly-spiced, inviting, impressive: warm amber, bit of a plum note, & a sweet myrrh blend = delish! <3
The first time I tried this I wasn’t all that impressed w/ it initially. Warm, sweet, sugared myrrh, dare I say I detected a touch of something almost playdoh-like in the first 10 mins? However, about 15 mins in some nice, richer animalic undertones become apparent (labdanum based amber?) and an hour and a half later it kept wafting up from my wrist (through my jacket put on after the fact) in the cold of winter and had me seeking it out to shove my nose in it and inhale deeply. But alas, it is a scent that smells MUCH BETTER from a distance. Upon putting it close to my nose the magic seems to vanish, but again from an arm’s length or so it was beautiful warmth and a tad of pungent/sweet plum and myrrh.
    EDIT TO ADD:
this was one of the first perfumes I really sought out after trying my 1st round or 2 of samples I ordered online at the start of really getting into perfume/notes. It doesn’t impress me so much anymore as something of this deep/smoky/sweet genre, but it is exceptional for a celeb perfume at least and does have great lasting power.
I find it a bit lacking in depth nowadays… but there was one day I had this on one wrist and Elixir des Merveilles on the other and that was magical. May try that as a combo.
Also something I don’t usually comment on: it only seems to shine in cold weather. And I find it entirely feminine vs the ‘smell of men’s cologne lingering on a woman’. If I want that I’d go for Fille en Aiguilles or something else heavy on pine or cedar or tobacco! There’s no doubt this is a warm, feminine resinous scent to me.

There is something about myrrh that I find hopelessly romantic. When I first tried this I spent ten minutes walking around smelling my own wrist. I had to run back to the store to buy a bottle. With that said, I find I still have to smell my own wrist to enjoy it because it fades so quickly and sits so softly. Is it only me? I give three sprays in the morning and by 11:00 no one can smell it.
The smell makes me want to wear a big brown sweater and leather boots. It’s cabin romantic myrrh/amber and the vanilla is casual and friendly. I wish it had more of an aura to it! The person across the desk should be able to tell I’m wearing something, but not cough.
With a little less sweetness it would be a head-turning aftershave on a man. For me, at least. Thus, I like the name. Good memories.

Why oh why would you create an absolute gem of a scent like ‘Boyfriend’ and then discontinue it?? Why would you do that??
Every self respecting perfumista should have a bottle of this perfume.
Now for those of you who only like niche and high end and are already wrinkling up your little noses at the thought of yet another predictable ‘celebrity’ scent, I say to you, put aside your prejudices and imagine this is a mega priced niche and then make your judgement.
This perfume blew me away, it’s got the WOW factor big time. In fact this is WOW central!!
It opens with juicy fruity plum which is then enhanced with spicy exotic myrrh and then as it settles down it becomes a cacophony of exotic florals all dancing around and thrilling those olfactory senses.
The juice reminds me of a golden syrup and that’s how I can describe the smell. It’s a thick, sweet and exotic fume, which upon the first spritz, dilates the pupils and excites the senses. This perfume has it all, it’s woody, spicy, floral, powerful, addictive, enchanting, masculine and feminine. This scent can be worn any place and at any time as the silage depends upon the action of the trigger finger.
Celeb scent??? This is genius!! Oh how I wish this was more readily available because it would be my signature scent for sure.

I actually just saw this at Sephora last week. Not many bottles there, but they do still carry it. I actually thought I was in love with it back in December, but then after a few hours it had an old lady undertone that reminded me of my ex mother-in-law and I had to return it. Too bad since I really love Cocoon and it does initially smell similar.
Update: Went back to Sephora and tested again, and have decided I do love thi
