After Versace L’homme I arrived here. Limonose opening followed by an incessant sandal. The dry-down is not great because of the mandarin.
    I’m sorry but it’s a NO.

Soapy Irish Spring like opening of citrus and florals (Jasmin, ylang ylang almost jonquil like) oakmoss, Vetiver create a leather accord that adds an elegance to the zesty top. Rose is present but is blended softly with the top notes adding a softness
To sum it up it’s a 90’s fragrance with a mature mind or I’ll put it this way… he’s a young man that’s wise beyond his years, don’t underestimate him he will surprise you with his mind.
He doesn’t say his age because he feels he might not be taken seriously but he’s very smart
Classy, vibrant & witty but be light with the EDP it will leave the nose burning if over sprayed

haha just a great cologne that opens up strong and is changing to dozens of scents.almost every note pops up in the opening at different intervals.just when you think its gonna stay bergamot it changes to rose then lavender.incense, then back to lemon, lavender and so on.i was really surprised to see it end in bergamot after the soapy mid but no.you get at least 6 colognes in this one.i like it of course and got it and a couple of others from good ole gent scents.cant get more reputable than gent scents that’s for sure.i cant give an honest opinion if i get a diluted or faked cologne.doesnt really last long on me except for the close skin scent.

Review for EDP in frosted bottle:
This is a very exquisite chypre fragrance that smells like a stronger version of Dior’s Eau Sauvage mixed with a bit of Acqua di Parma Colonia. It starts like Eau Sauvage, with strong masculine citrus (lemon mainly) mixed with leather, and dries down with the same scent but an added rose note that’s reminiscent of Acqua di Parma Colonia. It’s very classy, and lasts a long time – over 6 hours in fact, with moderate projection. It’s very nice, and probably a more upscale version of those classic masculine citrus chypres like Dior Eau Sauvage, Capucci pour Homme, Aramis Tuscany, Chanel pour Monsieur, Monsieur de Givenchy etc. Except all those are expensive and don’t last that long (but the vintage versions of them do but are even more pricey) while Boucheron pour Homme EDP is less than $100. There’s also the EDT version of this but I haven’t tried that (EDP is supposedly more complex and longer lasting).

I really enjoy Boucheron Pour Homme. Fresh smelling and not your typical citrus fragrance. The citrus/spice opening is very nice. I get 8 plus hours wearing this fragrance and really enjoy the dry down. Very clean and fresh smelling.
No, I don’t think this fragrance has undergone a significant reformulation that made a drastic difference in the smell of the fragrance or longevity, but that’s just my opinion. Some may tout supposed fragrance studies in their past, or the number of fragrances they’ve purchased over the years, as an indication that their opinions should be highly valued. A few important points regarding fragrance opinions: 1. We are all anonymous here so touted fragrance qualifications should always be taken with a degree of skepticism. 2. People can perceive the same fragrance differently. 3. The smell of an old bottle of a fragrance can change over time, so a recent purchase compared to an old bottle may not be a valid comparison. 4. People forget about olfactory fatigue when complaining about fragrance longevity or silage. 5. A fragrance can smell and perform differently on people. 6. And the list goes on and on…

    Mine is the EDT.
The wide transformation from the initial bright blast from the atomizer to the multi-staged sophisticated drydown several hours later is worthy to behold!
I have few other fragrances in my 60+ collection that makes such an extreme metamorphosis.
Since there is no separate listing for the Boucheron Pour Homme EDP…
PLEASE! Specify if your review is for the EDT or EDP (or both). In many of the prior reviews, it is not clear which version the reviewer is referring to- EDT or EDP.
    -Thanks

This was apparently Patrick Swayze’s signature fragrance in the 90’s.
Makes sense if it’s true. It’s classic and elegant, a bit formal but still fresh.
It somehow reminds me of Xerjoff Nio. It’s not even similar, but it has some of that same mature soapy citrus feel to it.
When I value “mature” over “youthful” and “serious” over “playful”, this is one of the perfumes I reach for.

Certainly citrusy, but I don’t get a primarily citrus feel from this. In the warmth of summer, it is very cool feeling (as in just above “cold,”), and reminiscent of the herbal qualities of Aramis 900.
A throwback for sure, but pure class, too.

So disappointed ,after reading raving reviews and frantic posts of how this is a modern classic and refreshing ,this filled my head with cloying spices ,thick citrus ,burnt synthetic incense and mismatch of florals that I can’t recognise without looking on this ,it’s a shame but in my opinion smells poorly blended and not to my taste .
This is not to say however that it is a bad scent ,to me yes but to others this could be heaven in a bottle ,as I know my brother loves strong heady scents ,ones with yes a classic edge and smoky mature chypre like scent! Wouldn’t call this fresh but this for the price would work well as an everyday scent for lovers of these notes

I have the B.P.H. eau de parfum – pictured above as the clear bottle with brass chest band and blue cap.
It starts very lemon-Pledge-ish but as I walk through my house I capture a note that’s very elegant and sophisticated.
I’m anticipating more of this in the dry down.
    EDIT: It’s lovely.
    I recommend this beauty.

I tried Cerruti 1881 today and first thought was ‘this smells just like Boucheron PH’. Of course Boucheron came later.
I prefer Boucheron PH – it’s more complex and lively, and I think a cut above. But the similarity is there.

On my skin the edt is lovely. If you have tried tsar or duc de vervins and liked, then there is a good chance that you will like this one. For men, I would not say that only man above 35 years old should be allowed, but it is a men’s perfume.

It’s probably the best citrus aromatic fragrance for men.

It is a copy of Cerruti. Extremely similar but Cerruti has a much more interesting opening which is more suitable for today’s needs. This is still a very nice fragrance. Good performance, bottle etc but I will always recommend cerruti 1881 which is the original and you can save yourself some money too.

Little bit of a old school citrus when you first spray it…….but then the magic happends in the drydown. Great ‘fizzy’like smooth citrus drydown which for me is the best drydown i have yet to smell, and this now being a cheap classic fragrance, its not be be over looked.

  20. :

Refreshing, classic one, a bit soapy in the best way possible and as it is a 26-year old perf as we speak: yes, it is a bit old-school, so probably would suit someone over 35..There is somehow a bit of a shaving-foam vibe about it too, but then again it only reminds me of old-school elegant, when men were MEN..A good throwback to the times when I first noticed aftershave on men, I guess..All in all, it`s citrusy more than anything, the lemon, oakmoss and vetiver are prominent for most of the time, and the spices float just underneath it and show themselves more in the drydown. I like it on my fella, it gives him a mature vibe, however I wouldn`t class this scent as sexy or flirty. It is more like a reliable, comforting scent for formal wear or casual time when you want to stay fresh and just plain ol` good-smellin` 😉

Boucheron – I’ve always thought this was distinguished gentleman’s smell. I love it. It has a clean soapy smell that gives off a clean cut gentleman vibe. I bought this for my dad for father’s day because I thought it fit him and it does. And I personally love this fragrance myself. It’s how a gentleman should smell, in my opinion.

  22. :

I love this scent. It opens with strong citrus tones, which after about half an hour recedes in the background. Then you can capture floral hints with soapy aroma and transition to luxury wood. Although it is purely French, it reminisces on English cars with a leather interior and lining of noble wood. An aging and elegant classic fragrance, it’s no wonder that it has been holding the market for more than a quarter of a century. Excellent projection and longevity and great versatility. It can be worn throughout the year, day and night.

I have the vintage EdP, and I don’t get the monstrous citrus that others do, perhaps because I try to avoid most of the top notes. In any case, yes, this is not for youngsters. It dries down to a mossy/floral/dry woody scent with some of the citrus remaining. I can understand why some would say “old lady perfume,” but I have some of those too (such as vintage Ma Griffe PdT) and this is not quite there, but you do have to like floral notes. It is minimally sweet, and not animalic nor syrupy/ambery. If you want an “old school” masculine floral, this is one to sample, especially if you want one without the usual lavender overload (I’m not sure if can detect any lavender here).

A fellow reviewer, Rasoir Perfumes on YT, reviewed this and brought this back to my remembrance.
In collecting, you can get caught up in trying the “latest and greatest” and forget about the fragrances that made you fall in love with this addictive hobby.
Boucheron Pour Homme is that type of fragrance. It is the definition of “Men’s Perfume”. The prices it’s going for are insanely low for the quality.
To describe Boucheron Pour Homme, it is a floral, woody, incense combination. Ironically, the bottle lists slightly different notes than listed above–FYI. The blend of the citruses hit you at the top with a certain amount of depth. From my perception, it is the jasmine, benzoin, and basil accord. The basil gives it an herbaceous feel too. What Boucheron Pour Homme did beautifully was making the oakmoss a background note that is blended into oblivion–not noticeable. Common practice by perfumers in the past was making oakmoss the star LOL.
For the EDP and EDT comparison, I would say the EDP is more intense for sure. My first bottle was EDP. Please spray skin only with the EDP and make sure it is not more that 3 sprays TOPS! It is beastly. The EDT is a very good performer, but it is not a beast. EDT will give you 6 hrs. of noticeable scent trail with 4 to 5 sprays. With the EDT, you can spray once or twice on clothes and the rest on skin. The dry down is a jasmine, benzoin, citrus, and incense scent.
This is not old school AT ALL. This scent is a time “transcender” like GIT. My only point is it will smell good for years to come.
CAUTION, stay away from this if you do not like floral and citrus combos. It is probably a good one to try if you like Versace The Dreamer. They do not smell alike. They seem to be made with the same audience in mind-CLASSY and SOPHISTICATED;).
This is an ALL YEAR and signature worthy scent for late 20’s and ABOVE. This is not a teenager or back to school scent LOL.
FOR THE RECORD,IMHO, Boucheron Pour Homme is a BETTER BUY than Jaipur (9 out of 10). First, it is an all season fragrance. Secondly, it is not as popular as Jaipur. Lastly, the current prices for this is “slightly lower” for EQUAL QUALITY hands down. If you sample it, that will be hard to refute.
    9.5/10

    Love this, my bedsidetable scent.
However I’m concerned about the future of Boucheron Parfums. Their portfolio does not seem to follow any clear strategy launching two “pillar” scents in less than 2 years (first Place Vendôme, two years later Quatre, hello ?¿?), plus all the predictable flankers…one stepping on the head of the other without any order nor tidiness nor a clear strategy as a brand, a shame since Boucheron had a promising start!

Powdery citrus, very long lasting, elegant and formal. This scent is good for work.
The opening is a bracing grassy citrus – probably verbena coming through.
After that the drydown is quite unique. It retains the fizzy, ‘powdery’ effect. In some ways it is a similar soapy powderinesss to Shalimar, but whereas Shalimar is sweet and gourmand, this one retains an edge of sharp coolness – almost like menthol – so that it stays refreshing, and zesty for the duration. And the duration is long – it’s very noticeable after 8 hours and if you get it on clothes it will be there until you wash them.
I really like this fragrance. It’s aromatic, grassy, clean, it’s complex and sophisticated, it’s unusual. One of my favourites.

I was expecting dated vibe from the 90s but was pleasantly surprised. It’s different from most modern scents but has classy feel and not outdated.
It’s quite mature dry and powdery and has interesting under tones of cherry and bitterness and some fruits are there between the herbals but mostly it’s fresh dry and bitter.
Reminds me syslie eu de Ikar in its style.
I will not wear it but can see it as a dicent present. Much appreciation to this frag.

My nickname for this men’s fragrance used to be “Sex in a Bottle”. My old boyfriend (we’ve been good friends for over 40 years–better friends than lovers) used this when we dated and after he would go to sleep at night I would mist one spray on my pillow and sleep like a baby the entire night–I have problems with insomnia). He still uses it and I believe it’s his favorite out of a plethora of other men’s colognes that he owns and wears. Clean, classy, timeless, and sexy at the same time. My kind of men’s fragrance and I LOVE the scent that even lingers in the air long after the person’d departed.

Now I have an EDP and I noticed the Oakmoss note used to be more stronger and with an earthy hint in the EDT version what I had in the 90’s,but not in the EDP,just a generic ‘bitter-mossy’ aroma, the rest still compose the old amazing and magical scent but inebriating I could say and I loved it,even more.

Just got the EDP. It’s a bit sharper at initial smell than the EDT, but after 30 seconds it starts to settle down into the same ol Boucheron. I only got 4 hours on my skin outside and I live in San Diego, everyday it’s 80 degrees here. If you stay indoors, work indoors and don’t perspire or move much in your job, you can easily get 8 hours on your skin no problem. For the extra money, I’m pretty sure the EDP isn’t worth it. For being EDP, performance was underwhelming. Definitely stick with the EDT which Is what I initially smelled and wore the first time. I’ve worn this EDP twice already, I typically spray 6 sprays on myself and clothes.
Scent:5.5 It takes a few seconds for the EDP, but decent smell
    Longevity:8
    Sillage:7
    Unique/Industry First:8

Decent scent that’s been around for quite ahwile and was definitely ahead of it’s time, can smell a bit synthetic on the drydown though. To half of the people out there, it may smell a bit old and dated. The other half will appreciate it’s long lasting, powerful, linear, citrus scent.
While this scent is not a stunner like Givenchy Xeryus Rouge, Polo Red, Happy, Fahrenheit, Aventus, Tom Ford Noir Extreme or Amouage Jubilation, it’s a good, safe, everyday work cologne as it’s longevity makes it worthwhile.

I am wearing Boucheron pour Homme “Eau de cologne” which comes in a nice green bottle and cap and is not added to the boucheron collection in fragrantica, I don’t know why, and I do not have idea when it was release. If someone knows which one I am talking about and has more information about it pls. post a comment.
I think this Eau de Cologne version is much lighter than the EDT but not as light as the Francheur version and I am sure it has some different notes added too but I do not have a trained nose on separating the notes so I won’t even go there.
But after almost 2 hrs of wearing it, it is settling very nice, and it has a god sillage.

I bought this EDP back in the 80s….never did re purchase it……but recently i saw a review of it on Lanier Smith..it reinvigorated me to buy it again. I am very pleased that i did. The EDP still remains the better version of this frag. It lasts and is quite formal..not for easy breezy type of day out stuff…It has more of a stylish touch and goes well w/a coordinated outfit of some kind i think. A powerhouse frag from back in the day that works today. Prices online from a reputable dealer are very modest and well worth it. Excellent juice.

Great. Effulgent blast of lemongrass on the opening which could almost be described as aggressive. Powdery, citrus, drydown. This is an invigorating, fizzy, classy, strident scent. Blending is exquisite which makes it smell a lot dearer than it is, and gives it a very distinctive, unique character – citrus + something between herby and floral. Great for work/office. Performance is excellent. I can still detect on clothes easily until they are washed.

I finally had a chance to try this. Upon application I had to get out the pleated slacks and wing tips. It feels dressy to me. I get hit with a bucket of lemons up front. There are some white florals in there too which is the best part for me. Jasmine? I like it. It’s a great office scent when you want to get down to real business. It could be worn in evening on date night although I don’t detect a seductive trait. Good overall scent with a powdery (talcum) dry-down that performs well.

    Classy suit and tie!
This opens with an excellent soapy citrus/bergamot that is classy, powdery and mature but not too old-school. In comes the lavender and basil to smoothen it out and vetiver plus juniper to add some freshness, like gin and tonic. The rose is well blended into the background and never takes frontseat, making sure it stays masculine. All the notes are flawlessly blended to perfection and the drydown with sandalwood and powdery lemon may seem like leftovers from a pre-2000 powerhouse, but it works great for me. After all this scent has 25 years on it’s back.
It’s rich elegant and long lasting. I am not a big fan of Habit Rouge, but this is I how I would love it to have smelled with more citrus, less rose and still stylish. Kinda reminds me of a Chanel perfume, could be the brother of the classic pour Monsieur.
Is it a citrus, chypre or aromatic ?? Hard to tell, due to the great blending. Overall a woody citrus and lemon verbena that is great for work, office and formal settings. Surely wouldn’t recommend it as a blind buy, but if you have a certain degree of interest in men’s perfumery, this is a MUST try.

Excellent Scent…Very much what a Dandy like me would wear with my elegant wardrobe, especially cruising around my regular haunts of Bangkok and Buenos Buenos Aires looking for talent at the clubs of Sukhumvit & Recoleta/Palermo!…Perfecto!
    …..Two days later.
I will say on my skin it is not at all long wearing so that part is a big downside!…Which fundamentally means this scent is not good enough to take overseas and cruise the nightlife of Sukhumvit, Recoleta & Palermo!!

Very impressive cheapie without any compromise in quality from old times. For the current formula of EdT:
Zesty citrus opening with lemon verbena shining in the heart and a little smoky vibe combining with some sort of caramel(?) smell you can detect it from times to times.
Indeed, this kind of opening shares something in common with its cousins named Chanel pour Monsieur, Dior Eau Sauvage, YSL pour Homme, Givenchy Monsieur, Cerruti 1881 Men, Armani pour Homme and so on so forth, but still stands on its own as all of these do.
After 15-20 mins it smoothly evolves into a santalwood enhanced clone of Cerruti 1881 Men in the drydown mostly. This is not bad at all, and not way too spicy as 1881 Men.
Clean and concise cologne that designed for suit and ties!
Longevity: above-average, 6-8 hrs on my skin and a whole day on clothes.Rating: 7.5/10

I am just getting to know it, it was weird because I could smell it like if it was someone else wearing it, like when you passed by and smell the trail of someone that just passed by you but I think it was me all the time… 😉 well I will try it again to see if that happens again, over all very nice aroma… but definitely I will need to write an update.

A few weeks ago, I purchased an EDT 50 ml. bottle; I hadn’t done any research until yesterday, and I found out that, according to the batch code, the bottle was produced in 2000, and the EDP I’d bought 4 months ago was made in 2013.
I haven’t smelled the EDT because the box is sealed, but I’m sure the juice is in perfect condition as I bought it at the same place where I got my two 50 ml. bottles of Kouros made in 2002.

You know where you went wrong here, find yourself a proper formulation!
Cobalt (?) blue box with the “B” (lighthouse?) logo. Dist. – ‘Boucheron Parfums’ Made in France.
    Originally released in 1989.
p.s. this has no relation to Jaipur, it’s not sweet in any way. This is a timeless, sophisticated citrus with a bright, ‘energized’ incense (not smokey). I find it very natural and calming, transcendental even – what I’d imagine meditation achieves.
Also. I have both the original EDT and EDP, and I don’t find either of them powdery. I would assume that when a review mentions ‘powdery’, it’s referring to more recent formulations. The EDP, is truly a parfum version of the EDT and not a different scent. It’s richer, as you’d expect, and the sandalwood is more pronounced. The sandalwood is the closest it get’s to ‘powdery’.

In its dry down, Boucheron is a pleasant, well-blended but somewhat uninspired ’80s fougere. But the opening is what really sets Boucheron apart. It is harsh, bitter, herbal and offensive. It’s also very tenacious – it takes a good hour or two to dry down. Even if I really loved Boucheron’s dry down – and I don’t – that’s simply too long to wait.
I tried to like this one, given all the loving reviews from both men and women, but I’m really struggling to see the appeal. It doesn’t smell refined, expensive or gentlemanly to me – and comparisons to my beloved Eau Sauvage seem grossly unfair.
It’s a shame, because I love Boucheron’s younger brother, Jaipur. But sadly, this screechy citrus nightmare just isn’t for me.
For reference, my impressions are based on three full tests from a 50ml bottle in current EDT formulation.

    Boucheron Pour Homme EDP.
If I could only use one word it would be… Luxury.
But we know that Boucheron is so much more than one word. It’s the kind of fragrance you would expect to find on the vanity shelf of some high priced exclusive hotel, which has been designed just for them as a perk to their clients.
This perfume is like your first date… a first kiss. Amazingly elegant and memorable.

Boucheron Pour Homme EDP: launched in the early 90s, the first male Boucheron perfume seem to have a clear influence of chypre fougere and styles predominant in the 80s, working them in a more classic citric context in concentration EDT. EDP, however, risks to follow a citrus floral path that for many may sound very formal and mature but which to me just sounds luxurious and rich. This concentration works in the limite of lemon and verbena aroma with the one of neroli and carnation flower, forming a contrast of aroma which is citrus, powdery, bright and striking. There is a clear presence to me of chypre elements in the base, a soft, fluffy and moss earthy aroma with wood, vetiver, amber and musks. Boucheron Pour Homme EDP was marked in my memory as the perfume I used when I met Buenos Aires and it just brings me to the sophisticated and european through some places of this city.

Please note: I have not tried this on myself. However, I CAN say I smelled it on a man in the elevator today. I needed to write this before I forgot. A glorious fresh, clean, almost minty-herbal? I came right out and said, “Oh, you smell great! What are you wearing?” He said Boucheron. I hope I’m describing the correct bottle. Marvelous stuff!

From many of the descriptions which mentioned the prominent lemon note, I imagined a more soft creamy lemon scent. This one is more in-your-face. You are smelling a bitter lemon rind up close, not a cream of a lemon tart or other imagined dilution. Out of the gate this is pleasant enough, but its pungent and can verge on being almost overwhelming. But be patient, give it a good 40 minutes to settle down.
The predominant scent which emerges is one reminiscent of a very high quality soap, the kind you would find at a hundred year old, exclusive hotel, somewhere in the heart of Europe. It has a beautiful aura of the luxury of the old world.
This I would say is perhaps the lasting impression of the scent. It smells like you have emerged from the steam clouds of a triple volume, gilded bathroom. Give it another hour or two and you smell less soapy, more dressed up, as the clean incense and woods transform it into something more personal and intimate.
This is perhaps the best example of scent progression in my collection, as as it moves through a few distinct, unique stages, even to my untrained nose.
This is a scent you associate with someone who is mature and wealthy, aristocratic even. I get why some would say that it is ‘old man’. Its not light or overtly modern. Its complex and reminiscent of by-gone times when male perfumery was intelligent and complex. Though I love it, it calls for a specific mood and occasion. I would wear this if I had to take high tea at the Savoy or meet up with friends who own an estate in the countryside. It has that kind of aura.
As for quality, it is excellent, along with the longevity. My overall impression is that is not so much old fashioned as it is old world. For this reason it would most likely be appreciated by a more mature crowd. Get it if you want something established and mature, but don’t want straight up 80’s powerhouse or Italian barbershop.
Beware tho – this fragrance still has its feet planted firmly in the larger than life fragrance framework of the 80’s and more than a single spritz in the high summer could disperse a small crowd.

Last weekend, I had tried Boucheron at a perfume shop outside the city; I liked it, but I didn’t buy it in the end–though it was only $35.80. However, it left me a great impression, so today I decided to purchase it here in my hometown, at a higher price: $44.33. After taking the box out of the bag it was put in, it read, EAU DE PARFUM; I couldn’t be more delighted…I had thought it was the EDT, but what I’d just bought was the EDP!
When you spray Boucheron on your arm, you can feel the lemony, tangy talc they talk about, but then it evolves into roses and honey (in a very manly fashion) ten to twenty minutes later. After the fourth hour, you’re left with an awesome, flowery, citrusy, animalic combination that makes you think of wonders such as Santos de Cartier, Dior Eau Sauvage, Dior Jules, and Halston Z-14 that is just out of this world.
That Boucheron Pour Homme wasn’t with me before is something that beats me…this juice is exquisite! It’s become an instant favorite, and I will wear it regularly, especially at night…A WINNER!

JULY 9TH UPDATE: I have been sniffing my arms lately, and I can still smell Boucheron Pour Homme Eau de Parfum on them–and I haven’t sprayed any today. Besides, that bottle has kept me smelling it like a fool…this is one of the best male fragrances ever made! It beats almost every new releases in terms of quality and longevity. Here’s my new rating:
    Fragrance: 10/10
    Longevity: 10/10
    Sillage: 7/10
    Price/Quality Relation: 9/10
    Overall: 9/10

My husband blind bought Boucheron for men EDP and we both couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised by the scent itself and how well it suits him. He loves rich, floral fragrances (Fleur du Mâle is his “golf day” fragrance, for example), and boy, is this one classy.
Boucheron EDP for men is definitely floral to my nose, with jasmine in the forefront, ever seductive. The resins are smooth and dense, and a hint of dusty incense smoke makes me imagine an educated man’s study, complete with rows and rows of old books and glossy wood furniture. Citrus feels like a golden light here, and paired with whatever is giving off the creamy, soapy lather notes, gives the impression of a man who finds the act of maintaining personal hygiene a joyful ritual. Boucheron EDP for men is not boastful or flashy, though – this fragrance is for a comfortable, secure person.
The husband and I call this “Woah! Boucheron!” as one spray will last and project for 8 hours. If he sprays this in the house it will smell like “Woah! Boucheron!” all morning. BE CAREFUL with this one. A spray about an hour before encountering the public has been found to be the most appropriate and considerate. It’s good stuff – chicks can’t stay away from him when he wears Boucheron and I’m like, “BACK OFF, HOS!” 😉
