An agreeable designer oud with the same salty, faux-funky synth-oud note found in the recent Armani and Versace attempts to hop on the oud train (and its enticing higher-price premium). The longevity is commendable and the overall scent fits well alongside other Bottled scents. A very good-to-great scent.

This scent is a goddamn masterpiece. I really like the smell of original Boss Bottled – on my skin it smells exactly like apple pie – but I don’t like smelling like original Boss Bottled – on account of not wanting to smell like a roaming apple pie all day.
Bottled Oud keeps the nice apple apple-cinnamon scent of the original in the opening, but it leaves out a lot of the sweetness that makes the original smell like pastry. It replaces that sweetness with a warm, dry, woody crackling oud – more akin to the oud of Tom Ford’s Oud wood than to any other oud I have encountered – that compliments the apple to perfection. The result is a perfume that smells less like baked goods and more like an olfactory orgasm.
But even though I love the opening, it doesn’t hold a candle to the drydown where the apple fades away and gives free reign to the wood. As the evening wears on and the lights go down this goes from being a phenomenal fruity/spicy scent with a twist to something more restrained, something mysterious, sensuous and dark.
And that scent stays with you for a looooooong time. Because even though I am impressed by the scent, that is nothing compared to the longevity. One time I wore this under a sweater. I then put the sweater in my closet and didn’t use it for a while. When I pulled it out three months later, I kid you not, the sweater still smelled like the drydown of bottled oud with almost the same intensity as a few hours after application.
So if you want to make the most of this woody goodness, be sure to get a little on your clothes – preferably a jacket or something else you don’t need to wash for a while – as you’ll have a fantastic layering agent for weeks if not for months.

it´s good, solid oud in designer range … quality
no problem with anything, but just wanna say …
it has no sensual vibe, it´s just a bit muddy oud
that´s why don´t wear it on dates or any similar events …
it has a dark mood … smells purely dark …. even it has a hint of something fruity (but way in a background) …
still similar to encre noire, but not that earthy …
but it´s kinda close to it

It’s a very familiar DNA that many people know, yet very different with the presence of “natural” oud. No skank, just freshness and woodiness. Still held to the original boss bottled DNA while staying unique.
Apple, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, and Oud is what you’ll get; addition of saffron makes it slightly Leathery but just slightly. decent longevity and sillage.

This is a great oud fragrance. It is one of the best from the Boss bottled line and I get 14 hrs longevity on my clothes! I give this a 9.3/10.

I’ve had this one in my collection for about a year now. Total blind buy as I wanted to try an oud that was a bit more accessible. I didn’t know what to think of it at first. Well, now that I have tried a few different ouds, I think this one is at the very least a great starting point if you’re interested in the note. For me, this is probably what I will go with if I crave an oud fragrance. They should probably keep this one in production as it’s easily one of the better Bottled flankers.
Opens with a bright and crisp green apple, a bit of spice. The spices are not easily discernible but it smells very “autumn” like. You can definitely smell the oud throughout which gives it a slight medicinal vibe (I think that’s the oud at least). It doesn’t particularly change a lot, to my nose. Oud, apple and spice is what you’ll get. It’s a nice fragrance, though and again, if you want to buy the oud hype give this one a shot.
As for performance, you aren’t going to happen across too many “Bottled”, let alone Boss fragrances, that will outdo this one. I had a hard time scrubbing this one off me (not that I wanted to scrub it, just in the process of showering). Great longevity, nice sillage. I can’t see it working well outside fall/winter. Definitely manly, probably not for the younger men. Hard to pinpoint an occasion to wear this. Too loud for the office. Wouldn’t recommend it for a date since it’s somewhat polarizing. Not sure on that end. This is the conundrum I normally get into when I want to wear this. Overall, a great fragrance that I have a hard time fitting into any sort of rotation.

How is this similar to sahara noir? Sahara noir is honey+ lipstick+ labdanum… While this is oud+ apple+ clove and cinamom… They have nothing in common.
About the scent itself: I thitnk it’s a great modern oud. Better than a LOT of niche oud perfumes. If you want real oud I think this is as close as it gets

I blind bought a full bottle of this one for an excellent price, basing on community reviews.
It has a middle eastern oud smell in deed, but not that heavy, which you can wear it easily without hurting noses around you.
The opening is dry, -reminds me of Another Oud from Juliette Has a Gun, Versace Oud Noir- but a bit more natural, associated to apple and citrus, giving the mixture a nice fruity accord.
Projection is moderate, and I got 4-5 hours of longivity.
It’s not an extra ordinary oud scent, but it doesn’t have that cheap synthetic notes.
For oud lovers, it could be a nice surprise
    Edit on Feb. 28th 2018
I wear it right now. it performes perfectly in cold weather. Sandal wood francly present with oud.
    Love it

A great Oud scent to start off with if having doubts whether Oud-based scents are for your taste.
The great thing about this flanker is that Lewis Peacock has succesfully achieved to blend in the original “Boss Bottled” DNA with a nice and subtle Oud. Not too weak, nor too harsh/strong.
Keeping the original DNA alive is how a flanker should be.
Well done Hugo Boss and Lewis Peacock.

The original Boss Bottled release from 1998 was a beautiful, crisp blend of cool green apple, citrus, cinnamon, and sandalwood. It was and is a delightfully fresh scent for warmer weather.
This variation on the theme, Boss Bottled Oud, has left that appley core completely intact. It’s rather startling, honestly. Many flankers retain a few strands of the original’s DNA, and you can pick them out if you squint, but in Boss Bottled Oud, you are clearly seeing the face of Boss Bottled, now slightly aged and perhaps with some well-groomed facial hair.
To this pillar of apples and citrus and cinnamon, Boss Bottled Oud adds some sour saffron and spicey wood notes of cypriol. I’m not sure that there’s actual oud here (strangely, the designer’s promotional copy does not list oud among the notes), so much as there is the “spirit” of oud as outlined by the fusion of saffron and cypriol.
It’s a good scent. Wrapping the apple-lemon-cinnamon heart in a shell of slightly sour, rich wood gives the overall effect of presenting an aromatic rendering of apple pie. Boss Bottled gave us the filling, Boss Bottled Oud simply added the crust.
As tasty a treat as this is, however, I don’t imagine the Hunters of Oud will be terribly impressed. Still, where else are you going to find sweet apples and sour wood in the same juice?

    Its Dark Temptation.
By Boss Bottled Oud ,I Found the Best Feedback and Positive Compliment, Among the Oud_based Fragrances in the Designer Categoury.
This Fragrance is a bit smoky and bitter at first Then Fruit ( Crisp green apple) and cinnamon are added and will be a bit sweet.
Finally we will have Fruity_Smoky Fragrance.
Boss Bottled and Boss Bottled Intense Can be Considered unisex But Boss Bottled Oud is quite Masculine because Woody and Smoky notes Play an Important role in it.
    I Realy like it.

I love this scent and i do not care about the negative comments from other people. It gets me compliments, the ladies love it on me, smells great and it makes me feel good. Performance is about a good six hours on my skin, bump one more spay after that and it’ll push for another two hours or so. Not the best EDP out there but you’ll stand out cause not a lot of guys know this one.
I love this purely for how it smells, just like YSL’s La Nuit De l’homme. Its not really about longevity, performance, silage or projection but its about how amazing it smells.
1010 for me smell wise, LOVE IT.

Ok, I’m not a fan of Boss Bottled, I just got Boss Bottled Intense EDP and I’m struggling with it too. Kind of made me question this, cause if the Boss Bottled DNA comes through as being prominent, I was gonna struggle with this too.
Initial spray amd it hits you like a brick, it’s strong. It settles down quite quickly on me, but it remains a good performer. I love the woodsy note in this. The Boss Bottled DNA is there in the background, but it somehow works really well with the wood notes.
    It’s a winner for me.

Other day in perfume shop after purchase of some fragrance, my girlfriend received a tester of this Boss OUD. It is very warm, elegant and men’s smell. It suits mature men who is nicely and elegantly dressed in the winter, or could be used for others in the summer evening, it’s very cosy smell. Unfortunately on my skin it last for about 1 hour, then you can only smell it close to skin, and that nice special warm aroma changes in some ordinary Hugo Boss smell. Could be longer lasting, and it’s expencive.

Oud is middle east style scent which showing manly and mighty person. Oud fragrance is very typical and strong so it is suitable for the hot weather in middle east. But Hugo Boss Oud is less strong and tend to fresh oud fragrance. No wonder many girls like this fragrance.

First impressions, startled by the intensity of the oud, very sweet and spicy, reminding me of Oud Woody Intense. It sparkles, blended with boss bottled dna apple pie, intense, gourmand, yummy, and cinnamon, citrus, lemony, so delicious., no poopy harsh oud vibe, all sweet, all loveliness. Need full bottle, will buy full bottle.

Boss Bottled Oud is a nice scent for the lovers of the original Boss Bottled who want something slightly different. It carries the DNA of the original scent (you will feel it until the end) with some additions.
Bottled Oud is a version of the Boss Bottled much toned down with the addition of very light and very smooth oud. The oud it is not nasty or medicinal or skanky. But it looks like with the smell of fresh tyres due to the combination with the apple. It’s not so woody for my nose.
Unfortunately I do not get vividly the apple which I’d love to.Nothing really different here or worth mentioning.
The projection is moderate and after 2 hours with one full spray, it’s a skin scent, weaker from the original Boss Bottled that I sprayed to the other hand in order to compare them. I can’t say much for the longevity yet, but I think it easily can live up to 5 hours or so.
I think it’s suitable for cool spring temperatures, fall, winter and early summer. Boss Bottled Oud is all year round scent for me except extreme low or high temperatures. It is not a heavy scent.
Conclusion. Boss Bottled Oud is a very pleasant version of the original but it’s nothing special in my opinion. Probably the fans of the Boss Bottled will like it. Personally I like it but not enough to buy it. It does not justify its price given the fact that it’s not completely different from the original. Moreover, Bottled Oud is a safe buy for beginners to try light and smooth oud.
Try before buy, it’s not a safe blind buy.

An initially dominant oud fragrance which then morphs into the familiar Boss Bottled DNA…
    I applied 6 heavy sprays
0 – 3 hours – 6 inch projection. This is 80% dry oud with 20% synthetic apple. I don’t find the oud natural or particularly nice and I don’t think its appealing.
    3 hours – 4.5 hours – 4 inch projection.
4.5 hours – 8 hours – 3 inch projection. Wow, what a change as the Oud completely disappears and you are left with a smell just like a synthetic Boss Bottled, due to this, at this point this fragrance is now pointless
    Not for me

Surprisingly, it is one of the best designer oud fragrances on the market and probably the best for the money. Masterfully blended apple note with saffron and perfect, very naturally smelling Oud which stays on skin for long hours. Great diffusion and nice sillage. Smells luxurious, extremely elegant, rich, naturally, complex but not overwhelming. Is it really a Hugo Boss frag? Wow! 8/10 stars rating here. Thumbs up!

I can believe this has real Oud in it, the sharp medical type of Oud. Initially when it’s sprayed you get that alcohol blast that you get with a lot of really cheap fragrance but it does down quickly and it’s all saffron and sharp Oud from there. The apple note never hits my nose but if that replaced the alcohol blast in the beginning this would be a 9/10. Its becoming harder to be original with Oud based scents as there are so many takes on that note on the market now. But this one suffices, and at the price you can get it for on some of the discount websites it’s nothing to complain about. if you like dark scents it’s good for day or night, hot or cool. If you like fresh scents but are interested in Oud this wouldn’t be a bad place to start just use it at night or in cool weather.
It didn’t wow me. Smells good just boring. Office friendly. Wouldn’t use it for a date.
    Scent 8/10
    Originality 5/10
    Performance 8/10
    Versatility 9/10
    Sexiness 3/10

I like Boss fragrances and have all the Boss bottled line this is a nice scent very sweet that drys down nicely I have found it lasts a decent 7 hours but could be down to skin type I have found that fragrances last a while on my skin.

I wear Boss Bottled as a daily scent and I love Tom Ford’s Oud Wood so I thought this might be a cross between the two since this is natural oud. The problem is it is very strong with the saffron notes and it frankly smells like food.

This stuff is actually quite nice. Sure, everyone and their mother is aboard the Oud train. But this is really off tha chain.
There is a small problem. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle for my brother. His bottle smells slightly different than mine. They are both wonderful and 98% the same. There is just something different that neither of us can quite identify. For something so new, I wouldn’t expect inconsistencies.
Despite that, I think this is a must own if you are a fan of Boss.

Another month, another Boss fragrance for men. But actually, no – not at all! I have very fond memories of travelling around the States as an undergrad using my friend’s bottle of ‘Hugo’ and being castigated (in a nice way) by the bar maid in Chicago for applying too much! Alas, since those days not much of Boss’ fragrance canon has caught my eye (but I do always try anything new by them, just in case) and so today I happened upon their take on an Oud fragrance by way of this latest addition to the ‘Bottled’ range.
I have to say, this is a lovely, compulsive and enticing oriental that has its place on my wish list. I am not a fan of any of the previous offerings from this particular line, they’re not offensive as such, just a bit “meh”. This however, is the exception to the rule. Probably best at night time on a date or a night out.

    Hi Bigsly,
Do you know I have wanted to sample the Jovan Oud. I’ve read all the reviews but I have yet to sample that one.
Just as you wrote in your article a few blogs ago, price does not indicate quality or “better scent”. “Cheap” scents are sometimes “better smelling” than expensive designer frags. Of course it just comes down to personal preference since this is a somewhat subjective arena.
Take this one for example, “Bottled Oud”. I was able to purchase it privately for a great price. Well worth it. I have seen it retailed for over $100. I can’t say it’s any worse than some of the $500 Oud’s in my collection. Perhaps you can tell that some of the ingredients in the base are more common. (Apple) BUT! I do not like it any less.
This is not always the case. Have you tried Kanon Agarwood? I do NOT care for that one.
Just as though I have some quality high end frag’s, where it is obvious no lower end scent can compete with the quality of the notes.
Anyhow, you have peaked my curiosity. I am going to contact Boss to see if I can find out any more information. If I do, I will share it.

  33. :

People, anyone can make a scent with “real oud” in it, but that doesn’t mean more than a tiny, negligible amount was used. I don’t understand why more companies don’t make this claim, actually. Take a huge vat of Jovan’s Intense Oud and add less than a drop of “real oud,” and now you’ve got a “real oud” scent!

I wore this tonight for dinner and the new Bond movie. I thought it would suit the occasion. The movie was average (definitely no Skyfall), but the real star of the show for me was NOT Daniel Craig in his Tom Ford sunglasses, but the “Bottled Oud” cloud floating around me.
You know your obsessed when someone leans over to ask you something about the movie, and you have no idea what the answer is, you haven’t been paying attention.- Because throughout the movie what you’ve really been doing is trying to understand your cologne.
I already knew in advance there would be many of you that would scoff and yet another “Oud release” from a Mass Market Branded House. Trust me, I had my doubts.
I have sampled it here and there ever since I bought it, but today was the first time I wore it for several hours. I will admit, I was just as sceptical as the next person. However, my curiosity was peaked. I enjoy the Boss brand. It might not be my favourite brand since I would not describe myself as a hardcore business person, but I do wear a suit on occasion.
If you have not tried it, you should. As I stated below, I find it interesting that this claims to have real oud in it’s contents. The strange thing is that on first spray, the oud takes on a very leathery impersonation. (The thought crossed my mind that this should be called Bottled Leather instead.) I get the apple, citrus, and spices, sort of similar to Boss Bottled. There is something over simplified about this fragrance. You can tell there is a mass market trendy base. However the leathery-oud opening notes, and then light oud notes that stay with the scent for several hours, turn this Preppy Business man into some kind of Bad Boy. There is a duality here. Good longevity and silage. This is sort of like the dark side to Boss Bottled. The business man on the down low, he likes S&M on the weekend and nobody knows. He wants someone in high heels to step on him. A Business Man who has that bad boy side- A la 50 Shades of Grey. “Dominate me, give it to me rough.” He loosens his tie and collar then rides his motorbike home from the office. He enjoys a dirty vodka Martini after work. There are two sides to this. The Gemini of Boss.
It might not be for everyone. But then again not everyone wants to spend their Friday evenings in a leather harness & ball gag.
I rate James Bond -Spectre as a 3.5 out of 5 stars. This fragrance is better.

Growing up I went through 3-4 bottles of boss bottled. Loved it. Still have a lot memories attached to it but I grew tired of it. I wear it about once a year now. It bores me but I enjoy reliving the memories now and then.
Boss Bottled Intense I actually thought was an improvent but that may not be accurate. Due to how used to the original I am, anything new on the original is going to peek interest.
Anyway I got to try Boss Bottled Oud a few days back. Smelt like a bottle of boss bottled that had went off. Stanky and sour. I didn’t really get oud per say. Mostly get boss bottled intense mixed with a slightly nauseating sour vibe. It wasn’t exactly terrible. Just very odd and off smelling.
I don’t see how this flanker makes any sense. Oud… And boss bottled. What? Odd.

out of all the new hyped up releases this year (the one edp, yves saint Laurent nuit intense, le male ultra, boss bottled intense, polo red intense, armani code special blend, dior sauvage ,etc) this one actually lived up to the hype. im not even really a fan of oud but this is divine. woody spicy with the original DNA of boss bottled. very well done by boss. i wasnt sure how oud and saffron would mix with the DNA of boss bottled but they have managed to created a very harmonious blend. i am extremely impressed with this one. longevity and projection are both respectable as well. My favorite 2015 release. WELCOME BACK BOSS.
P.S for those who dont like oud i still say give this one a try as it is not the typical dirty oud that you get from other fragrances in this genre. This is one is much more refined.

  38. :

    Oh, man, this is beautiful!
A lovely Middle Eastern rendition of the original Boss Bottled; woodier, spicier.
    Take the original Boss Bottled.
    Add some oud.
    Add some saffron.
    Add some spices (cinnamon, cloves).
& you get Boss Bottled Oud.
I don’t see eye to eye with the criticism here. I’ve smelled fragrances marketed as “oud” with less oud in them than this fragrance, yet people hailed them & held them high.
It’s true, though, but it applies to almost all of the new oud fragrances: The oud is not as noticeable as the name suggests, but here it’s still there more than the others.
My only complaint is the price. It’s about 150% the price of the original Boss Bottled, but that could be justified because it “contains 100% natural oud”.
Overall, one of the best masculine fragrances to come from this “new wave of oud”.

Sampled it today at John Lewis. As I love the original and I love oud I thought this must be a win. Well… Not necessarily. It has a lot of the original in it, mainly so actually. But with the added notes of saffron and a very faint dusty oud. I like dusty oud, but it needs something more to smooth it out. Which this just doesn’t carry. It’s not for me, for a more dry dusty oud I prefer Jo Malone Bergamot Oud.

Must say i agree with Twilight99,
the first blast gives me a strong oud
smell, but very quickly it turns into an
appel cinnamon that stays for about 3 hours,
then it becomes a skin scent, i cant say i love love this fragrance but i do like it as i find it very easy to wear.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

It’s a definite like and not a love for me. The oud is surprisingly strong in the beginning. It lasts a good hour before it starts to fade some. The oud is still noticeable, but now the green apple really starts to intensify. The green apple continues to dominate until the end. I can also smell a touch of clove and hints of some other spices I can’t categorize.
The oud note reminds me slightly of Oud Cashmere Mood by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Hardly the same quality, but it’s hinting in that direction. I don’t find it similar to Oud Wood by Tom Ford or Oud Noir by Versace. My problem with this perfume is the green apple note that it inherits from the original Boss Bottled. In the original the green apple note is accompanied by a strong cinnamon note that makes it more appealing. In this the cinnamon note is largely missing, and the green apple note is very green and strong with little support.
All in all I enjoy Boss Bottled Oud. I imagine I might enjoy it even more as autumn and winter approaches. I wish it had more cinnamon as I enjoy that note very much, but as it stands it is a perfectly good perfume in the growing market of oud themed perfumes. It even manages to stand out a little from the crowd.

    Huge Disappointment!
Good, Natural but the fragrance fade away in only 3 hours!
And the Oud accord in so soft!
If you want a long last fragrance with the Oud not too heavy, test Fendi Assoluto.

I have to say what an amazing fragrance. I get the apple at first hit with spices. The clove and cinnamon are not too strong but I can definitely detect their presence. A beautiful woodiness throughout and definitely masculine. Fantastic longevity on my skin with only 3 sprays. I would agree with the description that this feels opulent, high quality and luxurious. I purchased the 50ml EDP but once finished I will definitely buy the 100ml. This will be perfect for the autumn and winter but sprayed lightly anytime really.

I agree with ‘Arsenal Till I Die’. Oud is trendy, but do not dismiss this one. I tested it at an airport in Europe (and I didn’t have any fragrance on that day). I put on two sprays and I have to say it is excellent. Really high quality stuff. I am not an oud fan, by the way, just a fan of good fragrance. I will be purchasing this one, once it is available in the US.

Just until my review comes along…
This is a special airport exclusive and very hard to get indeed. I got hold of a tester bottle from a lady in Germany.
It is meant for the middle eastern audience, and does contain real oud, zaffron cinnamon musk and amber. It has 10% of the original boss bottled DNA but is a whole other take on boss bottled. it is oudy and spicy and lasts for a long time.
It is no where near the Damask ouD of theirs, where the oud in Damask is incensy and woody sweet -this one is spicy and rough.
And to the guy who said M7 is the best. Well if that’s your opinion, I guess you have no experience with Ouds and Oud Mukhallaths (mixes) because the oud in M7 is the really dry and almost herbal kind that scares most people. Really boring actually.

Wake me up when the Oud mania is over.

This is interesting! Finally, Boss artistically pays tribute to the “Oud Trend” currently rocking the World of Perfumery! Nice one! Hello Carolina Herrera?!? Anything for the boys?
