Description
“This crisp, woody fragrance tips its hat to the Hemingways and Fitzgeralds of the world, conjuring the warmth of a quiet moment curled up with a good book. Its complex blend of sparkling bergamot, spicy cypress and creamy sandalwood results in an unexpectedly fresh scent.
Commodity Book is part of the Black Collection which includes dark, moody and intense fragrances for him, for her and for you.” – a note from the brand.
“My most cherished scent memories as a child were in the library experiencing real books which created a world of wonder and exploration. Living now in a technological world filled with iPads, Commodity Book takes you into the New York Public Library to recapture the experience of yesterday: turning the pages and breathing in the smell of dry paper mingling in with the open fresh air.”—Ketrin Leka, Master Perfumer.

(realized my review was on the wrong Book)
This is good. I get a strong cedar note that is beautiful. It’s not a cedar closet smell, or even a cedar tree smell. More of a sap smell, but it is rich and strong. I also get a strong hay note that isn’t listed but I wore a lot of Paradis Perdu last fall and I get the same hay here.
I suppose it’s best to think of this as a deconstructed book with the woody fibers that go into paper making in their unprocessed glory.
The amyris gives a nice floral freshness and there is a dusty sandalwood note that really gives that old velvet scent

I got a sample of this with purchase of Santal Blush. Instant allergic reaction (wheezing) with Book, but what I could smell was okay. It did not have the spicy sultry warmth I love in Santal Blush, so I’m glad I didn’t try to find dupes.

Commodity reformulated some of their fragrances in 2018, but kept the same name (so far this seems to include Book, Gin, Whiskey, Tea, and Mimosa). So that’s why there are two listings of what seem to be the same fragrance, but with entirely different notes.

Another duplicate article with completely different notes? I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone! Can anyone help explain?
