My bottle of Wood is old, probably from the time it was launched.
I used to buy a new perfume on vacation and would wear it while traveling. Afterwards, every time I smell it, it transports me back to that happy time.
I bought Wood while visiting my sister in Germany. It is a beautiful, warm scent. You want to cuddle up with it. I love it, it makes me want to hug myself. It’s a great scent for every day. You can easily wear it to work and not offend anyone. It’s a clean, powdery soft woody floral.
I now use it sparingly because I think it’s been discontinued and even if they still make it, I’m sure it has been mangled with reformulation.
Reformulation has curtailed my vacation/fragrance routine because I can’t wear most new scents, they literally make me sick. That’s unfortunate, scent and memory are so closely linked, for me it was a great way to trigger happy memories.

Bogner “Wood” is very lovely fragrance. Warm and spicy indeed.
Starting from the bottle: very cute “wooden” detail, which is actually made of plastic. Very modern looking. Cap is sitting firmly. Spray is one of the most precise sprays i have ever tried in my life. Sharp, precise and like an atomiser.
Now to the fragrance itself. Very first impression: sharp, peppery, sandalwood overload. But very pleasant. I have sprayed about 5 times it onto my both wrists and neck. And my main complaint about this scent is actually a sillage: Quite low. It´s been 2 hours since i have sprayed it and i can hardly smell it. Sometimes when a wind blows i get a smell of it, otherwise i need to smell really close it on my wrists.
Somehow i get an association of “wood” with “Cinema” by YSL. The same warm vanilla (a lot of it) but with spices, i see that there is cinnamon listed amongst the notes, but i smell it only in the opening, later i smell no cinnamom, but white pepper. So i see this fragrance actually as a cross of “Cinema” by YSl and “Di Romeo Gigli” by Gigli.
Drydown is a modest musk.
Not bad, really.
P.S. Oh, and you ask, what about the wood note, since it is called this way. Well, i do smell it dry woodsy note in it, but it is so nicely sccompanied with other notes that it is just lovely.
Had to add, that actually when i woke up next morning the first thing i smelled was the smell of this perfume on my neck, so lasting power is really good then. But still the sillage is my concern, though i get the feeling that thus you don´t smell it in the air much around you it is still present and gives you some kind of warm aura.
