This is unisex, right in the middle. Anyone can pull this off.
Opens a bit citrusy, then moves into a beautiful Iris and Musk fragranace. Simple yet neat fragrance.
I would not recommend if you have Dior Homme Eau or vice versa. Since they could get redundant.
Difference is Musk (PDM) vs Woody (CD).
Scent – 8/10, Love the cleanliness
Uniqueness – 6/10, just because there is Dior, Prada
Wearability – 8/10, this for all age group, summer scent.
Overall, recommend this if you dont have other IRIS based fragrance.

This is an underrated fragrance from parfums de marly.
Fresh, musky and very high quality. Smells expensive and luxurious as it drys down with the iris and the amber touch.
Forget please the comparison to lalique white, this is deeper and superior by all means. Also it Projects and lasts four times more.
Can be found online discounted with good deals.

So much back and forth below.
    This smells great.
    It lasts forever. ForEver.
To me this smells like a cross between Green Irish Tweed and Silver Mountain Water. 80/20
Tiny bit sweeter than GIT. Which is good for me.
Surprised there aren’t more mentions of GIT. It’s pretty obvious to my nose.
The comparisons to Sauvage probably have to do with the bright clean sent bubble that doesn’t quit which Galloway shares with sents like it.
    9/10 bright and classy
    Lasts 12hrs easy.
    Longer on clothes.

Dallastx below sums it up a bit for me.
I find it interesting as a scent. A stranger will either find it interesting or balk at it. Its one to challenge people a bit.
I get grimaticus review saying it smells like paper out of a Xerox
I also get Black Russians analogy to a Swamp on a summers day
I completely DO NOT get Amirmemars review comparing it to Sauvage
As a PDM as usual its well constructed and I think this makes it more a positive than a negative.
Its so unusual I do not think it could even be a citrus or a musk if you used words to describe it. I don’t even agree with its pyramid. the citrus and musk pretty much disappear very rapidly to a mere peep not worth mentioning. I find it a woody earthy amber, there are occasional whiffs of a flower.
On the dry down I would describe it as maybe crushed bay leaves, bark, wheat and strong cloves rather than pepper. I get a bit of violet or iris.
or alternatively a cursory quick whiff reminds me of just opened packet of uncooked hard pasta with a bit of cloves.
SO if it makes sense, somewhat safe for someone wanting a little unconventional, definitely not a blind buy. I am a PDM fan and have tried and like all the scents but this one has me undecided.
Still, I would place it 4th after Ispazon, Byerley and Herod (which I own). 5th if I included Layton which I find too similar to Ispazon and with a kick. All other PDM are amazingly made and smell amazing but not exceptionally different enough to justify the price for me. This one… well I’ll come back to you on that…
EDIT: 3rd June 2018 – Tried it again – I like it but I find the pyramid to me inaccurate. In simple terms to me it smells on the dry down and a whiff up close its like a Nutmeg bomb mixed with a new leather couch, a bit animalic. Soggy wheat cereal to boot.
Edit: 4 hours later the animals smell fades – it now reminds me a bit LOL of when you open up a cheap plastic sex doll out of a packet and you get that perfumed vinyl smell and a bit of wheat…

Parfums De Marly Galloway – Musky violet and pepper. Done. How are they allowed to charge that much money for something that smellls so similar to the Lalique which is such a basic scent. You’ve got to be the biggest snob alive to not try the Lalique. Such a grotty pairing of notes. Strong dislike.

I generally hate citrus, so this one definitely annoys me. I never expect a citrus perfume can be so freaking long-lasting. I took a shower to get it off.
So, if that’s what you’re looking for, a freakishly thick never-ending citrus, this is the one.

I own Galloway and every-time I wear it I have a hard time describing it. I finally realized why. I have been tryin to decide if this is a citrus fresh scent or if it’s more of an aromatic scent. At the end it’s a little bit of both. For this reason in my opinion it doesn’t accomplish neither well. It’s not a good fresh citrus scent and it’s not a good formal aromatic. Now that I understand it better, perhaps will enjoy it more not trying to force it under circumstances is not made for. Best use is perhaps an indoor function during spring or summer time.

As the Panda said, nothing like Individuel or Ultra Male. Heavy musk and citrus, more so after drying down. I was hoping for more from this house but it’s not horrible. I won’t bother with a new bottle when it’s run out but will definitely wear it. PdM usually produce some fantastic fragrances, this isn’t one of them in my opinion. 3/5 overall score for me, which isn’t enough at this price point.

  10. :

    3 out of 5

Responding to the few clowns below me, this fragrance smells NOTHING like Mont Blanc Individuel and Ultra Male! Both of those fragrances are sweet, while Galloway is hella peppery, citrusy, and musky. Individuel is predominantly raspberry and vanilla, and Ultra Male has a bubble-gum vibe to it. Galloway has only one sweet note in it and that’s the amber, and the amber is no where near noticeable in this fragrance. Ultra Male and Individuel is for the the winter/night time when you’re going out. If you try to wear this in the winter you’ll just look stupid, and don’t even mention wearing this in the club…unless your main goal is to have girls stand away from you. Women don’t usually like this scent.
However, this scent is above average. Not great, not even good, just a solid C+ or B-. Far from my favorite fragrance from the house of PDM. If you are a collector, please feel free to buy. If you want a cologne that you’ll enjoy and get the ladies, look at Layton, Pegasus, Herod, and Oajan from this house.

Please people. The only similarity this has to Lalique White is the color of the bottle. This is lightly powdery and has none of the “freshness” or the white pepper that is the signature of lalique White. This smells like a much lighter version of JPG Ultra Male. I got 8 hours from 4 sprays though.

Galloway was a poorly blended, cheap smelling fragrance to me. It was much like one of the better $5 dollar impressionist fragrances you’d find at a discount retailer. That’s the exact style it has. The fragrance isn’t really citrus or aquatic, but more like a citrus-aquatic-esque aroma. It has that cheap mélange aroma that so many of the better impressionist fragrances have.
For the price, you’d be immensely disappointed. It’s only good for maybe taking a stroll around the block, and even then you’d have to be an extremely humble person to make the best of it. I’d almost think what happened here was they cheaped out and tried to blend this one for themselves. Not bad for beginners—but not dignified enough in the least as a main release at this price range.
    – Ugly horse
    – Does not perform
    – Expensive

    What a wonderful surprise!!
    Review:
Galloway is slightly citrusy, but more so musky with some sweet pepper. The sweetness coming from the Orange Blossom and Iris combination mixed with the pepper is amazing! In the end you get a nice sharp maybe aggressive but straight forward fragrance with a spicy green (not forest green) somewhat woodsy background on top of that sweet citrusy opening. Know that what you get in the beginning is what you are going to get in the end…not a bad thing, just an observation.
I like this a lot! A very nice fragrance, one I look forward to wearing in the coming days!

    Initial Review:
So I was visiting one of my sisters in the Maryland area and while vacationing we decided to stop in at the nearby Nordstrom’s store. There, I had the opportunity to try Parfums de Marly’s Oajan, Layton, Darley, and Galloway. Now, I thought Layton and Darley were unbelievable!!! ([Aug. 14]-Hope to get my hands on either or both [purchased Oct.9]).
Oajan, to me, was too dark. And Galloway, my immediate reaction was, “this stuff smells horrible.” Pepper and more pepper and maybe something else but because I smelled so much pepper nothing else was detectable! Neither my wife nor my sister liked this one either. For some reason I couldn’t understand. I read many reviews and some said this smelled like GIT, some mentioned that it was citrusy, even floral as well as sweet.
What did I smell then? I only got pepper, nothing sweet, spicy, no citrus, no GIT comparison…ZERO!!! All I know is what I did get was something stinky, yuck!
Fast forward a month later, I thought, “maybe it was just me. I’d love to try this one again if the right deal comes along and the opportunity presents itself.” Well, trusting my better judgement, I blind bought a 2.5 oz bottle for $80 bucks. Heck, what did I have to lose?
My fragrance finally arrived in the mail and I couldn’t contain myself from the anticipation of what I would experience this time around. So after spraying one spritz on my wrist, I thought, “this stuff is amazing.” Even my wife said it smells great!! Citrus-check, Pepper-check, Sweet spice-check, NICE-2 CHECKS!!
So what was in the bottle at Nordstrom’s that day? No idea. To be honest, I was heading for discounting a phenomenal fragrance had I not given it a second try.
After doing a comparison to GIT, they are worlds apart; I have not smelled Lalique White so I cannot make the comparison there. Now, if I were to compare this to anything it would be the dry down of the wonderful peppery sensation of Black Walnut from Banana Republic. Galloway is a more refined sweetly dry pepper and Black Walnut is slightly sweeter.
    Nice!

It is very fresh ,clean and simple.the performance is quite good for a fresh scent. It is not very unique scent, but the quality of juice in the fragrance is astonishing and make a huge difference with a lot of similar fragrances that already existed at the current market.Girls like this scent and you hardly can find someone who hates that, however no love for it.Because of great performance ,you will get compliments. Moreover it is very similar to the dior sauvage but more fresh and strongr.

The best way I can describe this is “dirty fresh”. The musk and citrus mix together to create a super-pleasing combination. The violet note has a smoothing effect. Nothing comes off sharp. The first 15-20 seconds may be slightly intense, but as soon as it settles, you get a phenomenal scent. To me, this is unquestionably masculine. It smells like wealth and class. If you’ve sampled PDM before, you know they make quality fragrances. While some may smell close to others, they are always able to hold their own. Without having tried Lalique White, I can’t speak to the similarity – but having tried (and purchased) most of the PDM – this shoots to number 1a, right next to Layton. For the price – and considering the overall quality – PDM may be my favorite house. Great smell!

  19. :

Sampled this 3 times. What I am getting is a citrusy and metallic freshly ironed linen scent with slight florals. I detect a tiny bit of grass smell as well. Performance is above average with projection in the first 2.5 hours and total longevity of 7+ hours. It’s a good scent but not bottle worthy for its price. Even if the price is lowered to USD100, I will still think it over first.
On the other hand, just tested Lalique White once and immediately decided to order a bottle because of the equivalent quality that I am getting for the price.

  20. :

    3 out of 5

I definitely agree that Parfums de Marly Galloway, while not having exactly the same note breakdown, smells curiously like Lalique White, which is generally a fine compliment. Galloway is sophisticated and proper, nicely done, and a better perform that Lalique White, almost indisputably. However, for its increased pricing of about $160 for 125ml on Notino, Galloway is simply too untenably pricey in contrast to Lalique White, for the same volume at an eighth of the cost of Galloway.
Overall, Galloway is nice, an inoffensive combination of citrus, pepper, and musk that works for all genders in all seasons, but it’s simply not enough of a standout (and too eerily similar to Lalique White) to merit a lot of consideration on its own, despite the fact that others will see less of a similarity. Judge for yourselves, though!

My take on this fragrance having tried it a few years back and firmly put it on the back burner as an uninspiring citrus are well…Lalique White wishes it was this! No… in fairness that’s a decent parallel to draw it is a musky, metallic citrus with more than a hint of pepper but it’s no where near as spicy as the Lalique, has far more enduring citrus and an interesting warm base that goes on and on long after Lalique White is a distant memory. I get the stripped back modernness that could evoke an Aventus or Sauvage and personally I think it has the metallic and musky edge of something like Silver mountain water, (other citrus Creeds)or to a lesser extent Caron L’anarchiste. It’s definitely got a wearable down to earth feel and is much better quality than most designer fare following a similar blueprint. It lasts really well and actually projects better than you might imagine. If it was heavily reduced in price I’d pick up a bottle for a go to sunmmer time scent. Galloway is a nice scent.

Interestingly enough, I smell different parts of this scent from smell to smell. It smells mostly like citrusy refreshing flowers, but not flowery in scent (iris and orange blossom smell great on men folks). Occasionally the pepper sneaks through, giving it that spiciness that mixes surprisingly well with the musk that is present throughout.
Essentially, this smells like a fresh, citrusy spicy flower that isn’t feminine at all due to the musk. Amazing smell, perfect for warm weather hot weather indoors and out. And if you happen to live in LA, perfect for anytime of the year except when it sneaks under 70
    Projection 8/10
    Longevity 9/10
    Masculinity 8/10
    Overall 9/10 !
Like spice with your citrus? Like musk with your flowers? Like smelling kinda similar but like a significantly better (and compliment stealing) version of your friends when it’s hot out?
    Buy it.

It was blind buy based on the fact that so far I loved or really liked all De Marly parfums I bought.
First major disappointment for me. For me it smells like a swamp on the hot day.

A blind buy that I have no regrets at all buying. I love the opening citrus orange floral blast in the opening opposed to the musky dry down in the end. I sprayed this beast on at 5am and upon calling it a night at 1am the next day, my wife told me I smelled like my whole chest was sprayed with colonge. Mind you I only sprayed myself three times with this( once on my left and right side of my neck and center chest. I would not pay over 160 personally. But worth the buy if you can find it for 149 like I did.

OMFG I’ve had about enough of your BS Marly!
Once again (as all their other fragrances) it is very natural and expertly blended.
Once again (as in nearly all their other fragrances) it barely lasts for me.
How am I the only person getting a distinct Himalaya vibe off of this? I love the scent but Himalaya already exists. It also seems to vacillate between the Himalaya vibe and whifs of Cartier Declaration Dun Soire.
I love (I cant stress that enough) the scents they produce but I don’t get any of the projection everyone else claims to get.
Edit: I still get serious Himalaya vibes but as it mellows out about 45 min in, I am getting flashbacks to Creed’s Green Irish Tweed. WTF Marly!? Make your own scents! And give them better performance! The blends are great and clearly the work of a skilled perfumer with clearly high quality ingredients but your “legendary” performance is not universal and all the talent being put into making these scents-several of which are straight up clones to my nose on my skin…we already have those scents and you certainly aren’t competing on price so it’s a redundant purchase that many of us would never make.
Get it together please. I still love you. But go to rehab already.

Was in paris for holidays but i happened to get sick and was hospitalised for 2 weeks..Blown away by this scent,a friend of mine, a fragrance head just like myself couldn’t resist and braught me a Galloway vail to the hospital so he could give get my take on it..
While i wasn’t particularly impressed by the scent i decided to keep it and gave it a few more tries. So after some time i ended up hating this scent like nothing else out there.
It brings back bad memories and it is associated with a very dark and hopeless image in my mind plus the fact that this has kind of have a dark vibe with a strong projection and lasts long doesn’t help either.
If there is a fragrance out there that im pretty sure i will never end up buying one day it’s this one.

Tried ot today on both paper and skin. The top notes are nice, they remind me of masculine Mexx, Adidas or S.Oliver scents (which start out ok, but deminish really fast). I was curious if Galloway, a much more expensive scent, would have a better and longer drydown.
It didn’t. After half an hour the fragrance fell apart and smelled “old”. Not recommended.
    5/10
    Edit 2016:
Sometimes a one time try doesn’t do a scent justice. I decided to order a sample so I could actually wear Galloway a few times. I like it now! It’s fresh, classy, basic, clean. Downside is that it is very serious, it could have used an edge.
When I see a good deal I’ll obuy a bottle.

This is not the bottle for Galloway, it is the same as the rest of the recent bottles like Godolphin, Herod etc. It is a matte white with a platinum cap which is beautiful looking. This is a great citrus and musk scent that lasts forever on my skin. I haven’t given it a “true” wearing yet but this will be perfect for spring and even summer. It is not heavy and will not choke you out. Don’t let the musk scare you because it is well blended with the other ingredients. The other notes are detectable at times but not prominent.
Another well done creation by this house.
