It seems like this brand is trying hard to project a certain image with this perfume – limited edition, smear of paint across the bottle, silk scarf with a bit of paint on it – but the proof is in the perfume itself and I found it revolting. Some seaweed rotting on the beach with a hint of glue and ink, or maybe gasoline. Something about the dirty minerality might have been decent in a smaller dose, but this was an overload. One of the few fragrances I’ve ever smelled that made me instantly recoil, and not in an, “Ooh, that’s intriguing, let me tiptoe back to carefully have another whiff of this interesting perfume” way.
Maybe I’m just not cool enough to “get” it, but I don’t know why you’d pay lots of money to smell like this!

for a perfume called ‘blues’, the initial smell sure does remind me of thai green curry. it’s odd, how the impression of neroli mixed with, what i imagine to be, galbanum and the ‘sea notes’ create such an impression of that aromatic, salty, slightly creamy dish. even the jasmine when it shows up only brings to mind freshly-steamed jasmine rice. this comes across as a more ‘foody’ version of omer pekji’s ‘eau mer’, where the jasmine has a more gasoline-like edge. as ‘blues’ dries down in fact, it reminds me more and more of ‘eau mer’, losing its gourmand side in favour of a gasoline / glue-like tack, along with the earthy vetiver and a heft dose of what smells like ginger. odd, interesting, but ultimately i already have eau mer, which i consider to be much better, so…
