My first introduction to Rituals was an advent calendar I got for the missus and ended up going ‘wow that smells nice.’ to many of the products. The one I liked best was the Rosewood and pine but unfortunately they don’t do a perfume of that, but when I visited my local store to discover as much, I sampled some of their perfume offerings and I’ve gotta say I was impressed. The therapy vibe is extremely apparent in everything, and I have to say they all make you sigh a little sigh of comfort such is the cerebral nature of the creations. This one, Bleu Byzantin is probably the most accessible and has a more fresh approach. The juniper note at the beginning of this is really big and unlike the usual dry, g&t, quinine vibe it comes across as watermelon and salty aquaticness circa 1992. This could be a distraction but the herbal pine in the base is very zen, soothing and with a touch of mint it all comes together to make something vaguely familiar but extremely well executed. This wasn’t my favourite from the line by any stretch but the solid, salty sea and woods drydown was pleasant even if the fragrance itself is perhaps a little shortlived. The price is great and packaging and overall look of the stores made me think their products were far more expensive than they are.

Van Cleef In New York, same scent. This is an eau de parfum. But with weak performance. Van Cleef is better though

Tried it a few days ago at a local rituals store in Norway.
Not my cup of tea, very generic smell, very blue salty, fresh, sweet smell.
It does remind me Davidoff cool water and boss in motion blue.
Nothing out of the ordinary rather synthetic, staying power is somewhat between poor and medium.
I am not blown away and think there are much better offers for the price.

Smells realy nice, but the longevity is so poor that after an hour you can barely smell it. And its the same with other lines of this “parfume”. Never buy again.

A funny thing. The drydown reminds me of Boss Pure. But not on my skin, only on clothes.
Strange 🙂

Funny,
If you compare the notes of Rituals Bleu Byzantin, to Montblanc Legend, there should be no no similarities. However this is an exact copy of it.
This, Legend, Jaguar Classic Black, Azzaro Chrome they are all average fresh Spring, Summer fragrances. There are dozens of this stuff in the market. For me one is enough. I have Jaguar and have used it mainly in my car.
Now I have it here downstairs to use every time my dog misbehaves.
19 Euro/100 ML. Expensive Air Freshener maybe, but quite a cheap fragrance.

This is very, very nice.
I had not even heard of rituals as a brand until I saw Bleu Byzantin in a magazine promoting “the fragrances of summer 2016” where it sat alongside Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Aqua, John Varvatos Artisan blu, AdP Cedro di Taormina (see my review) and Michael Kors Extreme Blue.
On the opening I get a nice dose of melon along with some mint and cedar (and for some strange reason a hint of bubblegum, which really works!). The drydown does not really change the fragrance very much, and there is no real complexity here, but the whole composition is just so agreeable right out of the bottle that it’s not a problem.
To top it off Rituals offer 10ml travel size versions on their website, so you can try before you commit to a full size bottle. Even then, the price point of a full bottle is very reasonable for such an excellently crafted EdP.
I recommend this to anyone looking for a new summer aquatic that will behave well in any setting. I would feel equally comfortable wearing this to the office for a meeting or a casual weekend BBQ. The versatility is there.
Bleu Byzantin is very smooth and refined, and being an EdP it really lasts. Even after a shower I could still very faintly smell it on my wrist after nearly 24 hours! that’s got to be a record for a summer scent!
Well done Rituals!

A more mature, refined EDP version of Nautica Voyage, great for spring and summer, smells amazing!!

Rituals is really stepping up their game, amazing presentation, the bottle, the box, especially this one with this gorgeous blue, just beautiful!
Now the scent, this is edp and targeted for male audience, very fresh and aquatic, in the same style as nautica voyage, but much more natural and more subtle.
My favorite from this line, definitely worth a test, and it’s on my want it list now, let’s see till summer.

Fresh, youthful and energetic. Of the 4 new male fragrances from Rituals, this and Rio de Orient are prime. The others are also niche quality. Never smelled anything like Blue Byzantin before.
