Was given a sample and I find ok but nothing that moves me, its a good bergamot perfume and that is all.

As much as I love the opening scent of this parfum. The longivitiy and projection is far from the price tag. Love the opening bergamote, fresh and crisp. But still find it hard to pay the $270aud price tag.

I tried this at Nordstrom. So unique indeed. A simple and yet complexe fragrance. The notes are so common for all citrus scents, but the way they are blended in here is excquisite. The prices are beyond ridiculous, but i might get me a sapmle later on.

Third time wearing B22 and I like it. A good choice for summer citrus fans with above average performance. I favor other Le Labo fragrances and B22 is currently in third place – behind The Noir 29 and Vetiver 46. Le Labo does a great job making long lasting, natural fragrances, at a price that makes it hard to have more than one or two.

This is absolutely lovely – opens with a blast of citrus fruits – I can’t stop sniffing my arms where I sprayed it – the dry down gets more Vetiver – I love Citruses and I love Vetiver in summer fragrances so for me this is a perfect combination – I do not get the Vanilla note in this one nor the musk or maybe my nose is getting too old – anyway lovely smell, wish the longevity would be better, or maybe this is my old nose which does not detect it anymore after a couples of hours – this one together with another recent purchase Mancera Cedrat Boise will enter in my top 5 fragrances

One of the longest , if not the longest lasting realistic and bright citrus fragrances. Rather simple , yet likable
If you wanted the lemon freshy with performance this is your dream. This is the destroyer of hanae mori for him and issey miyake pour homme kind of fragrances.
overall I enjoy Aqua di gio essenza and zegna mediterranean neroli more than this
I recommend this and think it is worth trying out
Amazing performance and longevity for this kind of fragrance- 4 to 7 hours longevity and good projection and fair sillage

So I got the whole sample set of Le Labo, and this was the first one I tried and had some full wearings. To me this is all petitgrain, orange flower, and possibly neroli with some linden blossom. The bergamot note is definitely there, but more in the background. The projection is alright for about 10 minutes, then settles down real quick, I cannot smell it past the 1 hour mark. That is so strange, since people are saying how great it performs. In the end, this reminds me of The Soft Lawn by Imaginary Authors. This is so green, I thought it would be mostly citrusy. In any case, too hyped up, nothing really special, especially for the price. Try it for yourselves and see if it is worth your money, it is not worth mine. I find there are better offerings from this house.

  9. :

    5 out of 5

Ok, yer it’s nice, but for what they charge just because it looks all fancy and they make it fresh on the spot still doesn’t justify the price for a scent this simple regardless of the quality of ingredients in my opinion. An overrated one trick pony.

I just revisited my sample of this because im going to buy a bottle with bergamot parfume. I was surprised, it smelled like encre noir sport or something like that. The vetiver was very prominent. I had to check fragrantica because I did not remember that this was a vetiver heavy scent. Fragrantica confirmed that.
Im not a big fan of vetiver. Going for the great bergamust from Gallagher.
    Edit:
After I wrote this I read another review that thought this smelled like encre noir sport. So yes, thats pretty much what you get from this. I would not spend le labos price for this juice. Encre noir is actually better imo.

  11. :

    5 out of 5

Encre Noire Sport + an excellent quality, sharp bergamot note = Bergamote 22. A bit of a let down. Not that it isn’t a great fragrance, it is. Just a bit generic for all the hype.
I recommend saving about $150 and getting a 100 mL bottle of Encre Noire Sport and save a ton of money.

Update: Sorry, this is better than my hasty review. I splashed on the rest of my sample, and got the full effect. When you do that with a cheap frag, the cheapness becomes more evident. Here the opposite happened.
The synthetic skreechiness morphed into something quite unique and nice: some kind of green herbal spiciness.
Only 7/22 notes listed here, so it’s something mysterious. I like unique, when it’s unique and good; as is the case here.
The woodiness comes through in a while, and it becomes a cozy, freshy.
I recently tried my first Le Labo, Noir 29; loved it and bought a full bottle.
I wanted to try Bergamote 22, because I’m on the look out for that ultimate freshy for Spring and Summer. This is a dissapointment.
It opens very promising, with a great tart and fruity bergamot, and a very short lived, though great, orange blossom.
Then I started to get that “designer” synthetic smell. Someone mentioned, industrial cleaner, I get that some.
B 22, does have a nice green petigrain. You get some vague woody notes comming through. But yeah, this is a prime example of over hype. Because Le Labo makes some good stuff. Noir 29, that I love is a much better and more interesting freshy, with bergamot! Le Labo I think uses a lot of synthetic chemicals in their compositions; thus the laboratory bottles. They use synthetics in the best possible way, and their fragrances are modern, and have good performance, generally.
But with Bergamot 22, a Neroli type of composition, you want something more natural. I’m holding this to a high standard, at $180/ 50 ml it better be high quality. Sorry to say this falls way short.
I was searching for the best fresh fragrances the last couple years. I will mention my top 3 that are comperable to this genre. Dyptique Eau Des Sens, is a great fresh orange blossom fragrance, that is much more natural than this, at less than half the price. Tom Ford Neroli Portafino Aqua, MFK Petit Matin, and Creed Royal Water is a different kind of freshy, though very beautiful. Le Labo Noir 29, is my #1 fresh fragrance for now.
Dyptique Eau Des Sens is the closest fragrance to this I know, though it leans slightly feminine. It has better quality and performance than Bergamote 22.
    Rating: 8/10

Truly wonderful. Smells so fresh and clean yet complex. A must have for summer.

this is truly like a designer smell.
Is NOT the best bergamot fragrance, and not near that.
Is far far far from nio, or petit matin, or radiant bergamot, or other GREAT bergamot or citrus fragrances.
This is the MOST hype fragrance ever..
    It doesn’t last.
    The performance sucks…
and the smell, is very very generic.
If you want a great citrus fragrance go with CITRIC from SANTA eulalia and if you want a great bergamot fragrance go with NIO or radiant bergamot or acqua di bergamoto

The only Le Labo I can stand at all, and I have to go quite lightly. It smells fresh and herbal. You can smell the leaves as it opens. But the musk, vanilla and amber left behind after a little while dumb it down and make it boring.
Smells quite similar to Commodity Book but without the dill pickle.

  16. :

Beautiful and well made fragrance. It is like experiencing many varieties and layers of citrus scents. It is very FRESH but warm and comforting at the same time. It is also so SMOOTH and well blended. It smells “organic”, divine, elegant, sophisticated, expensive and luxurious. The citrus notes (and especially orange blossom) stood out more on my skin than the other warm notes (vetiver, amber, wood and musk).
Comparing the citrus notes, this one is much better than Jo Malone Verbenas of Provence Cologne. Verbenas is too “bright” and somehow a little “sharp” to my nose.
And of course it also left Jo Malone 154 Cologne and Diptyque Vetyverio EDP by miles 🙂 (Vetyverio is too sharp in everything, with strong, dominant grapefruit scent thru and thru).

Where is the Bergamot? In the store, the tester smelled very fresh and citrusy, and the sales associate actually recommended Bergamote 22 to “freshen up” Santal 33. I am wearing just the Bergamot today, and all I can smell is vetiver and woods with a bitter petitgrain. I kept getting whiffs and wondering if I was smelling a man’s cologne… this is not for me. All I smell is a very dry, somewhat dull men’s fragrance. I’ll pawn it off on my husband and see if maybe he likes it!

  18. :

    4 out of 5

An incredibly dull citrus with no freshness. Not even kidding when I say it was COMPLETELY gone in 30 minutes. Spoke in length with the man at the Le Labo counter and he explained I would just need to reapply often. On what earth does it make sense to sell a $180 citrus eau de PARFUM that is neither fresh nor lasting? So disappointed as I really thought this was going to be my citrus holy grail. There was nothing to it.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

This is my second favorite from Le Labo (my number one favorite is still Le Labo Lys 41 and the third favorite is Santal 33).
This one reminds me of Diptyque Vetyverio but much smoother, fresher and brighter in common notes. Le Labo line in general is pretty smooth, and elegant, nothing coming out from most of them that shocks me in a neg way. In fact, I’m shocked because of how pleasant and sophisticated they smell on me.
The only thing from this line that shocks me “negatively” is its price 🙂 They are all nice and great fragrances, I’m sure, and as “vegan” as how they are created or claimed. But personally, I don’t think that they should be worth that much. There are still ways to cut down the cost in order to make great fragrances at a little more affordable price.

  20. :

Omg, Le Labo has become my all time favorite house. I could literally bath in this scent. This just oozes luxury. So amazing… it just bursts with this juicy bergamot citrus mixed with the most amazing vetiver & orange dancing around in the background. In the dry down i get a hint of the cedar stepping up to join in on the waltz with the orange & vetiver. STUNNING! So far all my Le Labo frags have outstanding performance, projection & longevity and this is no exception. Le Labo MY NEW LOVE WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT THEE?

This guy has a 4.5 rating with like 450 votes. I can’t lie, it’s no joke. I think Bergamot fragrances always score well because everyone loves it so I was skeptical. Fresh, fruity, clean, crisp- but what separates it? I’ll tell you. This is like fresh squeezed. It lasts all day. Among the ultimate clean, morning fragrances. It’ll last till tomorrow and you won’t get sick of it. I foolishly ordered the 1.7ml. Do yourself a favor and get the full size. $180 is heavy for the small, but for $265 the bigger size is completely worth it. A little clove, a little musk, a little of everything.

A very linear, zingy citrus scent that doesn’t lose its zest. Perfect sweet/tart balance(more tart than sweet), with a hint of earthiness.p and a green herbal twinge. A cologne, really, but quite a long-lasting one. I’m not a big citrus scent person, but when it’s really hot and I have a citrus craving, this is THE one I go for.

Bergamote 22 by Le Labo is a perfect warm spring or hot summer day time fragrance. I wore this both outside and inside and can confidently tell you that this fragrance thrives on warmth. It doesn’t have great sillage at all when worn strictly in doors, but the moment you step into the warm sun it is like this fragrance jumps alive. It is excellently composed my nose detects the bergamot and grapefruit along with a solid base of cedar wood and vetiver.
When the sillage disappears (for me around hour 3-4 in north Georgia US) it sits extremely close to the skin, but this is a perfect time to reapply or transition to another fragrance that has bergamot and cedar wood. As far as would I buy a bottle of it? At the price it is, I still haven’t decided, but Bergamote 22 is excellent composed and a surefire winner.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

This is a beautiful citrus scent, one of the most refreshing bergamot scents I ever tried. The opening is the crisp bergamot and lemon, which incredibly for a top note, the bergamot lasts for most of the perfume’s life on my skin. It then shifts into a greener, woodsier scent with vetiver and cedar, until it ultimately finishes off with a musky vanilla scent, without ever veering into being sweet or soapy. Bizarre given how musk almost always turns soapy on me. The base notes do not project, rather they seem to work as a team to balance out other notes so my nose had a tough time identifying them specifically.
It’s a soft scent that sticks close to the skin. I notice the scent as it changes, but it has low to moderate projection. Longevity is tough to say, it seems like it lasts 6 or so hours, but it really depends on the weather. This one will project and last more when it’s warm, but on cooler days, not so much.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

The opening is nothing short of amazing; I can almost see fireworks. The lime peel feel juicy and bitter, the vetiver is sharp, dry and woody and the orange blossom ads a flowery sweetness that balances everything. The combination is perfect and the smell seems very natural. Towards the end of its life (which is too soon) becomes simpler, with a splash of bergamot under a bed of white clean musk. Its big problem is the low performance and, because of that, the price; otherwise the first hour is just awesome.
    Scent: 9.5/10
    Longevity: 5/10
    Projection: 2/10

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Bergamote 22 is a wonderful citrus scent, and indeed one of the best bergamot-centred scents out there. Sparkling, uplifting, earthy and without any unnecessary sweetness, it is calming, uplifting and a true joy to wear.
My benchmark for bergamot is the small bottle of essential oil that I use in my baths and oil burner. It’s an unfair comparison, given the huge difference in concentration between a raw essence and a blended perfume, but it’s one I can’t help but draw. For that reason, it’s very much to Le Labo’s credit that Bergamote 22 compares more than favourably. No other perfume I’ve smelled has come quite as close in capturing the natural, unadulterated zestiness of the essential oil.
Bergamote 22 opens, of course, with its eponymous note. It is juicy, effervescent and sharp. The bergamot shines for a good two hours, with incredible tenacity and radiance, before the scent dries down to a floral heart of orange blossom, much like a more traditional cologne. Vetiver, musk and a musty woody note – quite aptly compared by an earlier reviewer to particle board – round out the dry down. By this stage, Bergamote 22 is a skin scent, while longevity is fair – both to be expected from a citrus scent. It tends to project better in warm weather, particularly in the first couple of hours, which is also as expected.
Overall, Le Labo really has done a great job with Bergamote 22. I would highly recommended it for both casual and die-hard citrus lovers alike.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

Bergamote 22 is a very well crafted bergamot scent. I find most that feature this note either disappear quickly or flatten out into some other kind of soft base.
Beautifully refreshing to open, sharp even. The bergamot is charged with bitter grapefruit, and petitgrain, powerful and tenacious.
Then somehow, in an instant it disappears into barely nothing. About 10 minutes later, miraculously Bergamote 22 then resurrects on my skin with the brightness of bergamot still remaining, but warmed and dried with peppery cedar and vetiver, balanced with minimal sweetness of orange blossom, and a little bitterness.
Despite the musk, amber and vanilla notes in the pyramid, this never becomes soapy or flat, no barbershop archetypes of citrus and musk. This remains aromatic and woody with great spicy texture and warmth. Bergamote 22 has a very organic feel with a lot of integrity. Big love.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

I love this fragrance on the opening. Such a great fresh, citrus blast.
    But.
On me it fades almost instantly. It is such a bummer because it smells so good, but even after a HEAVY application it wasn’t detectable 30 min later. I don’t go by my own nose as I know I stop smelling certain fragrances faster than those around me. But when put on 7 sprays of a fragrance and my wife doesn’t comment (either positively or negatively) that’s a sign of a weak fragrance.
Like I said, it’s a bummer because it smells so good and it could be my skin, which by the way, tends to soak up fragrances that some consider beast mode. I’ll probably use this as a gym scent during the summer.
    EDIT:
I may have been too quick to jump on and review this fragrance. Today it is much hotter outside and it seems to have come alive. I still wouldn’t call it “beast mode” but I would say it is lasting and performing much better than my last wear. Also, I did go a little heavier on the trigger and sprayed a few extra times just in case.
All in all, it needs more wearing before I can be definitive.

  35. :

This is a gorgeous and well-balanced creation by Le Labo. I find a lot of their fragrances end up smelling the same. This one though, is distinctive and oh, so clean. It reminds me of this time I was hiking through a bamboo forest in Maui during a summer rain. Fresh and wet. That dewy factor. On me, this registers as a breezy, cool blue floral. It smells nearly identical to Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell and melts beautifully into my skin. Smells incredible when worn outdoors on bare skin. Would be excellent as a room scent, candle, body wash, anything.

    Just Amazing…
A Citrusy Woody Aromatic masterpiece. This guy is one of the best begamote vetiver combo upto now.Bergamote and vetiver are well balanced and blended.Almost at the same level.Musculine,Versatile,Classy and Refreshing.
Best for Spring and Summer(Specially) uses.
Opens with citrus(Bergamote and grapefruit)after some moments vetiver comes out.And then some musk will be added and soften it.I can get some floral and petitgrain. Not too citrus or vetivery like Nio or Grey Vetiver.
The main problem for me is that B22 doesn’t last more than 4 to 5 hrs on my skin.and also price tag is crazy!
Like the boxing though. You can ask them to type your name on your bottle.
but if have the money…go for it…you will not regret it.
A must in every Fraghead Collection!

Is this a dream? This perfume is beyond pleasant. It feels like a cozy sweater or an afternoon laying in the couch watching tv.
It’s easy to wear, feels comfortable, like a custom made fragrance.
The citrus opening is wonderful, then the vetiver takes over (too much for my taste) but after a while it all settles down for a fantastic, calm and clean scent.
I was never too inclined to try Le Labo, I guess because they tend to put too much effort on marketing strategies ( but what company doesn’t). So I’m very surprised by the quality of this perfume.
By the way, thanks to the Fragrantica+Luckyscent giveaway, I had the chance to receive fabulous samples like Bergamote 22, thank you!!!v

Transparent is the word that comes to mind when discussing le labo bergamote 22.
This thing is light and airy. The opposite of what xerjoff nio is to me. The bergamote note here is done so softly and dainty. The vetiver is clean and squeaky, while the musk is light and alluring.
Performance one me is not too good. The quality is here, I just wish it packed more of a punch. A beauty to be sure, especially if you don’t like sharp citrus, which this one is not. That alone makes this offering so unique.

I love it for opening and the mid part – a couple of hours you (and everyone else around) will inhale aromatic citrucy scent, super refreshing and unisex.
Then the bergamot, orange blossom and grapefruit disappear completely and this eau de parfum becomes a 100% woody skin scent. The type of wood you smell in a chipboard furniture.

I have to say the person below hit it right on….I totally get a Mugler Cologne vibe. Instead of a bright green that I get with Mugler, I get a more earthy colored green if that makes sense.
This stuff is amazing. I have to admit, I hated this stuff upon arrival in the mail (sample). I thought it was way too vetivery and peppery. But I was about 10 samples in so I think my nose was all messed up.
The other day I decided to give it one more go. It turned out to be AWESOME. I still got vetiver but it started out very leafy green with a juicy blast of bergamot. (Yes very similar to Mugler Cologne in a way).
I wore it that night and walked into the office. About 4 sprays to the chest and the stuff radiated like crazy. My boss and coworker were absolutely obsessed. One of them couldn’t stop complimenting it.
On paper, the stuff is pretty earthy on the dry down – but when I wore it i kept getting massive whiffs of a juicy splash of bergamot and man was it lovely. A full bottle here i come!

Bergamot at the beginning, vetyver at the end. I guess it’s the bergamot that wows people, it is heavenly and uplifting indeed but still reminds me of… a bathroom cleaner??Huehuehue just kidding. This is my favorite from the Le Labo house. It might be because I didn’t care for the other offerings, but it’s a very good fragrance nonetheless.
As for the price, if you can afford it, do it. For me, it’s too expensive for just a fresh scent.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

Bergamote 22 is the first regular (non-City Exclusive) that I’ve tried, and it is very pleasant, dominated by bergamot and grapefruit at the opening, and softening into a musk/cedar base. Many fragrances follow a similar formula but do not execute it as well. Bergamote 22 is very fresh and while optimal for hot weather, seems to maintain its strength in cooler weather as well. It’s decent in both projection and longevity for a fresh warm-weather fragrance.
Bergamote 22 leans toward Versace Eau Fraiche in my opinion but has something more to it; it’s more complete, fresher, and longer-lasting than Eau Fraiche. I haven’t heard others note the similarity, but the resemblance is there for me.
More modestly priced than EDPs in the Le Labo City Exclusive line, Bergamote 22 is a reasonable consideration if you love it, as many do. I know I like it, but I’m not yet sure if it merits the $160-for-50ml price tag.

I, like many other reviewers, find this to be a beautiful, summery fragrance. The citrus just won’t quit, smelling great after hours of wear. My issue? I wish there was something MORE to the scent in the dry down. If there was a bit of incense, more woody notes, or something with more depth, this might be my favorite summer fragrance of all time. Regardless, Bergamote 22 is a stunner in the citrus genre, and at the top of the Le Labo pile. Cheers!

The first few minutes was heavy vetiver and musk with a little bit of lemon in the background, but as the dry down occurred the scent of fresh lemon peels came to the forefront. I really like the tartness of this fragrance. Perfect for that hot summer day.

For me, this smells not like the citrus itself, but the peel. This makes sense as a Le Labo fragrance, they tend to be more serious, and even the take on citrus is not necessarily what I’d call bubbly or fun like most citrus scents. But like all Le Labo fragrances, it is beautifully blended, there’s the backdrop of white flowers that I feel the scent just seamlessly slips between: one moment it smells like that citrus peel, the next like that white floral. And both are very, very beautiful.

A buoyant, shimmery white floral over a somewhat oily vetiver-and-musk base. It references the soapy feel of scents like Mugler Cologne, only there’s a greater sense of depth and dimension. It’s one of the more substantial white florals.
But like many perfumes in this genre, there’s not that much than can be said about it. It does exactly what white florals are supposed to do (that soapy-fresh effect) but manages to feel more robust. Scents like this rarely hold up well, but this one has admirable staying power. My only contention is that it’s kind of boring and doesn’t really add anything new to the conversation. Perfectly pleasant and crisp, but a bit of a snoozer in the creativity department.

Ill say this, if you dont care for heavy neroli, bergamote sorta fragrances. I dont think this does anything special that will make you change your mind about the genre. And well im one of those people.
It smells nice, but not my thing personally. As it dries down it gets more more sweet and sugar sorta smelling I think. But still just ok for me.

    Woody Bergamot.
This is super lash and green fragrance. Smelling this, I can vividly see dark green colour. It is also very velvety and almost 3D, in a way it structured. This is so rich and natural smelling, lasts forever on my skin.
I am in love with it!
