Description

The house of Martin Margiela is launching a brand new collection of fragrances called Replica, as an addition to the Replica fashion line. The collection of fragrances consists of three perfumes for women named Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening. Each of them triggers a characteristic memory and is accompanied with a cotton label describing its provenance.

Perfumers who were invited to participate in creation of the new collection are Jacques Cavallier and Marie Salamagne. Beach Walk opens with citruses – bergamot and lemon, and develops with pink pepper, ylang-ylang, coconut milk, musk and heliotrope.

The fragrances are poured into classical, simple bottles similar to those in apothecaries, while their outer carton is illustrated with a photograph reflecting the topic of each of the fragrances.

All three perfumes are available starting from the end of June 2012, as 100 ml eau de toilette.

First blast is all salty, beachy air, but then it becomes a bottle of coconutty sunscreen—literally in the plastic bottle. I can pick out the individual notes, which seem nice, but really it’s like looking at a miniature beachscape with tiny dolls in with plastic umbrellas. Seriously, why is this so overwhelmingly plastic smelling?

Got this one as a gift from my little sister. This was the start of an expensive meeting with Maison Margielas replica line. At first I thought a little so so with this one. But The coconut, the sweet ylang- ylang and the musky base works really nice on my skin. Actually much better in cold weather than in summer. When it`s winter I can dreamog ocean, sunscreen and light days. Mmmm so good on cold weather. I really am in love with This idea of making memories into scents. Maison Margiela is a stable handcraft in perfumes. Silage is moderate to soft. Longevity is average .. I layer This with glow. Glow is oil based and makes a more solid edition of This baby.
Feminine, fresh and shiny this little masterpiece. Love it !

This scent for me is the perfect embodiment of a beach day where I sit under the blazing sun, having not one care in the world, sipping coconut, sands all over my body.
Coconut and ylang-ylang are definitely prominent in this scent. There’s this similarity this perfume and Lush’s Sex Bomb share when it comes to ylang-ylang. What draws me to this scent was not the creaminess of it, but rather the initial spritz from which bergamot and florals strike so suddenly my olfactory senses are spoiled rotten!
Today I tried this with Replica Filter ‘Blur’, a perfume oil that is supposed to boost softness. When layered, it takes me back to warm childhood memories and it makes me want to snuggle with my favorite plushy under a soft thin blanket on a warm spring day, sun peeking through my room. The story ends with me falling asleep so peacefully afterwards.

the perfect summer scent; I adore it. unfortunately, it does not last long at all.

i get Hawaiian Tropic oil, plumeria, tuberose, musk, and salt water. pleasant and memory-evoking of my childhood in Hawaii. it does also remind me a little of the esrly ‘80s formula Love’s Musky Jasmin. i did get several compliments from guy friends who gave me hugs one day while wearing it.

Beach Walk is a pleasant, pretty, citrus / floral scent. Sadly, I don’t smell coconut, though it is slightly ‘creamy’. As a beach-side gal, it doesn’t smell at all beachy to my nose. This was a blind buy for me because, based on the notes profile and reviews, I was expecting more obvious coconut.
The opening citrus notes (bergamot and lemon) are nice – I like that phase the most. The floral components are there from the start but become dominant in the mid / dry down stages. It’s a light, almost aquatic fragrance that I imagine would be super appealing to young girls (14-21) as a Summer or Spring fragrance. Quite a safe buy for a gift as it is utterly inoffensive.
Beach Walk lasts well on my skin and I’d describe the sillage as a tad shy of moderate. Nice, but not what I’m looking for.

I smelled this at Sephora soon after it came out, and I thought it smelled just like BB Beach.
I smelled it on a friend last night when I hugged her, and I asked her if she was wearing Candy Florale. She said no, she was wearing this. She gave me her wrist, and it was amazing ~ like the best parts of Candy Florale (minus peony) with the best parts of Trish McEvoy # 3…
It also reminded me of some perfume from way back ~ an Indy brand ~ “be good” or “beautiful be never” or something.
I do not get any coconut or creaminess, and I only got that jasmine/sunscreen when I smelled the bottle.
At least on my friend, I got lemon, flowers, and laundry.
I haven’t been able to test it on my skin yet, but I love it so far. We’ll have to see what my chemistry does to it.

Living in South Florida (Miami) for many years and being VERY familiar with the beach, Beach Walk reminds me of Copertone suntan oil of the 70’s. I do smell the coconut mixed with the ylang-ylang and heliotrope. It is sweet and creamy. To me this fragrance IS the beach.

I agree with Neosmiaphyte… for me coconut smells like coconut oil does. And beach walk smells nothing like coconut. It does not smell like the beach either, nor suntan lotion…
    It does smell creamy.
In fact it smells 100% like the French entremet « œufs au lait ».
If you can picture what a entremet / dessert made of eggs cooked with milk and sugar in the oven smells like, you get Beach Walk.
It’s not bad, it’s pleasant but just not what a beach smells like…
I you want more of a sea breeze vibe, try Sailing Day also from the Replica line.
This is a fail for me, still looking for my beach fragrance. Next in my list will be Beach by Bobbi Brown and explore Comptoir Sud Pacifique line…

Creamy coconut with a lot of ylang-ylang and musk. In the background there’s some heliotope and pink pepper. I don’t get woods or citrusses, so this keeps being very creamy.
Beautiful fragrance, with a disappointing performance. Sillage is soft, longevity is about 5-6 hours but it’s really a skin scent.
Indeed smells a lot like Sun Di Gioa.

  11. :

This is a nice smell, but disappointing in what it sets out to do. It’s a sweet and quite floral mix of ylang-ylang, coconut and musk, a lot like expensive sunscreen but not very much like the beach itself. Only the hint of pink pepper spices it up a little, but that is short-lived and not very noticeable. I’m missing the fresh, salty notes of the Corsican beaches where I spent my childhood, and which this perfume is allegedly inspired by. Let me tell you, Calvi smells a lot more exciting than this!
I can see the appeal for people who have memories of luxurious sun tan lotion, but for me personally it doesn’t do a great job at recapturing the scorching sand, glittering waves, and fresh breeze I was hoping for.

I find it odd that so many people say it doesn’t smell like the beach. I was born and raised on Aruba and this is the first veach sunblock perfume that I like. Sophisticated not cheap and sweet and floral. I smell the saltiness. I love it.

  13. :

I’ve always thought Beach Walk was overrated. The rest of the Replica line are photorealistic captures of scent memories. This evokes neither a real beach nor tropical goodness that I always associate with a Beachy perfume. I am also not a fan of citrus or bergamot and those are present in the opening
This is a hot, burnt skin scent that reminds me greatly of CAalvin Klein Reveal. I get zero coconut.

  14. :

    5 out of 5

This “replica” smells like the chalky suffocating oiliness of the suntan lotions in my childhood. It’s a contextual memory, like how At the Barbershop smells like shaving cream. I’m fair-skinned enough that this reminds me of playing outside in the summer as a kid, not just at the beach, but anywhere. Less sexy than some other tropical sunscreen perfumes, but maybe more unisex?

  15. :

    3 out of 5

To my nose, Beach Walk is a pleasant, tropical floral fragrance. I actually don’t detect any saltiness or citrus notes on my skin (though they tend to be more obvious when sprayed on paper). On skin, the ylang ylang and coconut are much more pronounced. I sense a bit of tiare as well, despite it not being listed as one of the notes. The florals and coconut blend together to create a sun tan lotion, yet edible type of scent (is that weird?). Though the pink pepper eventually creeps in during the dry down, Beach Walk is generally very linear.
Though my husband and I both like the smell of this, I don’t think we’ll be purchasing a full bottle. Sadly, it only lasts 2.5 hours on my skin and 3 hours on his. But I would recommend it for someone who enjoys tropical florals during the summer and who wouldn’t mind re-spritzing every few hours.

Not at all what I was expecting and not like any beach I’ve walked along.
This strikes me as an in-your-face floral. All I get at the start is ylang ylang and heliotrop, with maybe a tini-tiny bit of citrus.
About 20 minutes in I get a slight hint of coconut, then it’s right back to a sweet floral. Two hours later it’s still floral with maybe some musk.
Maybe I hang out at the wrong beaches but I’ve never been at a beach that is awash in flowers. I was expecting something slightly salty, with some marine notes and maybe a sort of herbal or grassy note. Even if I picture a beach packed with people, drenched in suntan lotion, it doesn’t smell like this.
Although it’s not terrible it’s not a perfume I want, just kind of a generic floral scent.
Quite disappointing compared to this house’s By the Fireplace which for me is such an accurate capture of a cozy fireplace scent.

  17. :

    4 out of 5

I smelled this fragrance blind without knowing the notes and it smelled exclusively of white flowers to me like jasmine and lily of the valley. I was surprised to see ylang-ylang and coconut listed as the main notes in this. In fact, on my skin I thought a more suitable name for this would be ‘white flower bouquet’ rather than beach walk. It is very pleasant smelling no doubt and has quite a bit of lasting power (while the sillage is of the light and airy kind), but it leans feminine due to the white floral notes I detect on my skin and doesn’t remind me of the beach or ocean at all, like whatsoever. Great composition though if one was searching for a white flower perfume with good lasting power, as I really enjoy the scent.

I love this scent as it is exactly as described – it has a salty beach feel with a lovely “sunscreen” quality. It doesn’t have much coconut (which I love sometimes) which I think sets it apart from other beachy perfumes.
I like wearing this at the office. My only drawback is that it is incredibly short lasting. If I had known that I would not have purchased a large bottle. That being said the bottle is lasting quite a while.

A disappointment.Smells similar to Womanity, only Womanity is soooo much better!
If you are looking for a suntan lotion smell, this one is not it, not by a long shot. This is a “fully clothed” beach walk, maybe an out of season visit to the beach?… What i was hoping for was something similar to Bond no.9 Fire Island, which blew my mind. Instead, i received a Womanity knock off, with longevity of about 20 minutes and sillage of none. I am happy i only invested in 15 ml bottle. Along with Lipstick On, this house offers nothing but disappointments for me.Just overhyped, and overpriced in my opinion.
So far, only spot on, Coppertone smelling perfume i have found is Fire Island, and i am sticking with it. It smells exactly the way i remember my long, summer vacations on Adriatic sea, back in 80, when i’d slap Coppertone all over myself – not the one with sunblock, but rather the one that helped you get better tan. Mixed with sea water, it was pure heaven, and Fire Island captures that perfectly.
And when i am looking for a beachy scent, there is always Womanity.

Sampling this as I type this review, I first got the spray of the fresh citrus and pink pepper.
I have no idea what most of these notes actually smell like, but I think I can sense the ylang ylang and what it does.
I was getting wafts of it and not realizing it’s me thinking “someone smells pretty nice”.
It’s still pretty chilly here so the fragrance isn’t blooming like it should but I can picture how amazing this will smell in the warmth of the sun!
I can see why this is a popular fragrance, but just not my cup of tea!
    – 3 hours later and I can still smell it, a powdery coconut/vanilla type of smell.
This might sound strange but this smells REALLY good in the water. As I was showering thought “what is that smell?! OMG”

The opening was so lovely, soft, and familiar that I considered buying a rollerball of it, but oh no, I am not a beachy person, and it evolved into something I don’t like at all. Nostalgia for sunscreens of the 80’s, definitely, but I was the kid in the shade who didn’t like getting sand in my swimsuit and sunscreen makes me itch, so this isn’t for me.
90 minutes later and it’s fading fast. There’s a floral note that reminds me of things other women wore when I was that kid by the pool, but I have no love for those scents to begin with, no happy memories for what this perfume is trying to sell. Nonono. Pass.

    Middle aged male review:
I know what this company is doing.
Sniffed this yesterday. It nails what it is trying to do, which is essentially the scent of long lost days at the beach, esp for those in my age range.
    Their secret (my conspiracy theory):
They are using the fragrance accords of the most popular sunscreen(s) from that era and simply repackaging them, along with a lot of marketing tactic; referencing scent triggers and memories which would’ve been associated with this scent regardless (scents associated with a day at the beach), due to the memories themselves.
In other words, when we wore the sunscreens, we were in environments that lent themselves to what they are *claiming* are the other notes involved…when in reality, it’s probable that actual aromachemicals that would offer those notes/scents, don’t actually exist in the fragrance.
    It is clever.
    It is kinda deceptive.
    But it works.
And in that regard, it’s a nice summer fragrance. Nostalgic and enjoyable.
Reminds me of when I was an 8 year old boy on the beach wearing those small tight trunks my mom made me wear, while watching women walk by in bikinis and wondering why I couldn’t stop staring at their bodies even though I absolutely knew they had cooties.

This is a naturally sweet, comforting, and almost uplifting ylang ylang + coconut frag.
The ylang ylang (a typical “tropical” or “exotic” feeling floral) is even more rounded out by the smooth, creamy yet light coconut. Its pretty linear, and as I can understand those who say this is suntan lotion-like, I feel that this is skirting that realm rather than being included in it due to the more prominent yellow floral note (on me anyway).
At first sniff in a Sephora, I was absolutely underwhelmed because of its simple, gentle, seemingly non-existent presence which is opposite to all the mainstream frags marketed in Sephora (to be fair my nose was blown from sniffing all the other testers before arriving at Beach Walk). But when I was able to try a tester from an online purchase, I came to really appreciate MMM’s Replica for creating photorealistic scents and Beach Walk’s gently caressing nature.
The hefty price must be reflected in the quality of ingredients as this doesn’t burn a single nose hair, and instead soothingly settles into your olfactory receptors.
I enjoyed this so much that when I found out Giorgio Armani’s Sun di Gioia was very similar I blind bought it online for a discounted price. Beach Walk is too $$$ for it’s overall performance. This scent is more for you to personally enjoy as it sits too close to the skin and disappears in 1-2 maybe 3hrs. Tip: spraying it into hair makes it last for at least the better part of a day. Sun di Gioia certainly lasts longer (especially on clothes: 1.5days) and projects more. They’re practically indistinguishable but SdG is more affordable so I’m perfectly happy!
Uniqueness: same vein as EL Bronze Goddess, BB’s Beach is saltier, and less floral. Beach Walk is perhaps the more refined and natural of its kind.
Probably does better in warmer weather but can be worn in any season when one is craving a gentle ray of afternoon summer Sun to caress them.
I am now desperately wanting to try Tea Escape as I’ve been wanting a realistic jasmine tea frag experience for a while now but cannot justify blind buying a bottle (or even an overpriced sample) off eBay…

  24. :

This smells a lot like Sun du Gioia. Very expensive sunscreen. Sun di Gioia might tries to temper the sunscreen with purple florals (iris, violet) and some more citrus but this goes straight sunscreen. It reminds me of Beach by Bobbi Brown, Sun by Jil Sander and like you left Coppertone out in the sun for a while. It smells sun-warmed for sure. Really interesting and I tend to like sunscreen scents but there are many similar fragrances that are cheaper. The sillage and longevity aren’t extravagant compared to how much this costs so I’d just wear sunscreen and any of the similar scents.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

Wait a minute, this is a woman’s fragrance? To me it smells unisex. Smelt it today at Sephora and it is amazing. Awesome for any beach goes who isn’t near it at all.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

This smells exactly like Elle L’aime A La Folie and Olympea had a love child, to my nose. I think it smells nice enough, but it is nothing special for the price point. The performance is not as impressive as others I have tried from this line. The sillage and longevity are good, but not as good as Tea Escape, Lipstick On, or By the Fireplace. Also, it’s probably about as good as similar perfumes for a fraction of the price. Just something to consider (:

  27. :

    3 out of 5

And I don’t get why some brands insist in calling coconut smell as “beach” perfumes. I grew up by the beach, where there are coconuts everywhere, but no beach I’ve ever been smells like the coconut note we are used to. Because the coconuts at the beach are green, not burned (the white coconut is after the burning process). The smell of green coconut is nothing like this sweet and creamy note like in this perfume. Of course we can relate the two things, but just rationally and not in our senses, and scents are not rational. They’re a feeling, and white creamy sweet coconut does NOT feel like beach/summer.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t understand why people stop to think about the ingredient profile of this fragrance. It’s irrelevant. The concept of this scent is well represented. You will sense your feet at the shore.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

This is a floral aquatic with flowers and coconut that resemble creamy sweet gardenia. I really don’t know what to make of this. I’m not into aquatics at all but I do smell a nice Bain de Soleil that I like and a reviewer here mentioned a freshly washed towel. I definitely feel that the soapy smell of florals combined with the coconut cream is almost exactly like sitting on a fluffy, softened blanket or towel and sitting on the beach, maybe with a tropical drink of some kind. This is not my style, as I gravitate towards the middle of spices or citrus and base notes of musk or patchouli that last for hours. Something with gravitas. But I’m so glad I got to try this light airy fragrance.
My main problem with Beach Walk is that it doesn’t differ too much from a bath and beauty spray, so it doesn’t merit the hefty price tag. With my limited income and pursuit of white rabbits, this will never have me opening up my wallet.

  30. :

Very light and bland. Really didn’t find anything special about this one.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. It was a blind buy, but I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. While it is a typical summer scent, I wear this day and night, any season. I wear it whenever I want to relax and go to my “happy place”. The combo of coconut milk and yang-yang comes through immediately and I practically feel the sun shining on me. It is not a suntan lotion scent at all, instead it’s summer in a bottle with the whiff of warm air, blooming yellow flowers and light-as-air vanilla ice cream. This fragrance just makes me smile.

  32. :

It’s nice. Definitely not my personal favorite BUT …. I get compliments on this quite literally every time I wear it. Mostly compliments by other women with this but people sure do love this on me. A good summery “I wish I was at the beach but I’m actually at work” type of smell.

  33. :

Wish this had been created earlier. When I was younger, I was desperate to find a fragrance that smelled just like warm sand, sunkissed skin, salty air and happiness. I’ve finally found it.
It’s beautiful, so soothing, so peaceful, so bright. Like an endless blue sky with no clouds in sight. Kids are laughing and playing on the beach, I’m enjoying the weather on a freshly washed cotton towel, eating fruit and drinking lemonade. This is the good life.

I would say that the sense of smell shares with senses such as vision and taste the ability of the same stimulus to have different interpretations at different days and times of the day. Feeling a perfume or scent is often like looking at an image and loathing it in a moment for another time to feel enchanted with the sense of it all. Or how to taste a certain dish and not find grace on a certain day and another day to love the taste. It is not the image / aroma / taste that has changed, but the interpretation that was given to it.
When I received the perfume kit from the Replica line, I immediately had one that stood out negatively for me: Beach Walk. Just to think of the name and I became tense with an aquatic aroma that could develop from it. Separating it to use it already foresaw a bad evaluation, since the scent had an impression that would be a female L’Eau d’Issey in a new name and format.
But, as they say, first impressions can deceive and delving into the third memory of the Replica series I feel enchanted with Beach Walk. It is a creation that breaks expectations at first while having an aura that is consistent with the idea of a collective memory. It’s interesting how feel Beach Walk makes me think exactly what it proposes: a summer day, a sunny scent.
The year we are in 1972 and again we are in French territory, Calvi. The difference is that we are no longer in the winter, but in the summer and in the maritime coast of France. An appropriate setting for portraying a summer’s day with a scent of sunshine that simulates the scent of salty and sunny skin. The memory itself seeks to capture this sunny, bright aspect by reproducing aspects of the aquatic environment and the scent of the skin, probably perfumed by sunscreen.
And when understanding these elements is possible to extract a broader sense of the memory portrayed. There is an aquatic element indeed and if you are sensitive to aquatic molecules this can blind your nose initially in the same way as staying too long in the sun affects vision. However, the molecule that is used to pass the aquatic aroma (transluzone) is more refined and puts the perfume in a more floral and luminous context after the fruity scent passes. And just as the eyes adjust with the sun the nose fits in with the scent and experiences the beautiful landscape.
If you like orange blossom fragrances, Beach Walk gives a beautiful interpretation of a sunny one on a summer day. It is interesting how the flower accord is worked to have this citric side and only suggest the carnality of the flower in a tanny way, without losing its sensual contours. From the background you can see nuances of honey and marshmallow mixed with a slightly salty and exotic floral scent, something that brings me to classic sunscreens and that makes a good link between the more classic memory and the more modern interpretation. Beach Walk is like a vintage photo revitalized and applied with a modern filter, a blend of an analog world and a digital world. The emphasis on their smell seems to be more on the sunny side, thus giving preference to the opening and heart notes. The basis however sustains them in a way that they seem to last a long time. It is a beautiful perfume if you are willing to give it a try.

Perfect salty, beachy, coconut scent. Even if you don’t like coconut, I can’t see how you would not like “Beach Walk”.
It smells just like quiet late afternoon walks on the beach, when the temperature is just right, and you are comfortably enveloped by the sounds and scents of the beach.
To me, this has nothing of sunscreen/suntan lotion. It is lacking that coppertone scent which so many other summer fragrances have, which can make them turn almost cloy, sickly sweet – “Beach Walk” is refreshing.
The whole summer, I sprayed this into my hair and all over myself as soon as I stepped out of the shower and received many compliments on it. Too bad it doesn’t last more than 4-5 hours.

Captures the salty, mineral aspect of the coast rather beautifully. Reminds me of skin an hour after swimming in the sea; salty, glistening, powdery musk. I love the cedarwood aspect, wraps the beachy notes in sophisticated, comforting and woody warmth.

This is totally intoxicating! I usually can’t justify spending too much on perfume, but Beach Walk is something special. I love citrus and pepper notes, even there’s something salty, reminiscent of driftwood, fresh air…I am usually picky about coconut, but here that note I could call mimosa as well. Reminds me of Kenzo Summer.

I do love this. This is my summer. This is what summer is to me….coconuts and suntan lotion with a bit of salty air. Jasmine comes in for me more on the dry down, which as another plus for me, this lasts a good 6-8 hours–rare for me for “summer fragrances”. Sillage is light to moderate.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Smells of the sun. A fragrance that seems to create a glow on your skin that you can smell. The ylang ylang is what gives this the xfactor distinguishes itself from other “summery” fragrances, like a secret yet to be discovered

For me this is the best out of the ‘suntan lotion’ scents that I’ve tried so far. I liked it so much I bought myself a bottle. I have previously really enjoyed Bronze Goddess, the skin scent one, but the longevity and sillage bothered me. When I buy something I want it to last and I want to know I’m wearing it.
I also tried Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, another suntan lotion scent, with coconut. But that was way too expensive for such poor sillage and longevity. This one, however, is very good. Beach walk is exactly that. It really does evoke the beach vibe. The coconut of your suntan lotion and the smell of the ocean, with a touch of ylang-ylang and a musk and benzoin dry down. It also has a note called ‘Transluzone’ which is aquatic, to me it’s very much like the ocean with sea salt in the background, it seems to last on the skin very well. I would recommend trying this one if you are looking for a quality sunscreen type scent, that will last.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention this but Beach Walk smells VERY MUCH like a softer version of Kate Spade’s Live Colorfully to me! I noticed the similarity as soon as I tried it! I don’t know why people keep comparing it to Bobbi Brown’s Beach. I don’t think it smells anything like it. BBB, to me, is just awful and loud and harsh.
Unfortunately, Beach Walk is a little too soft for the price tag. Otherwise I really like it. But if you’re looking for something similar then check out Live Colorfully. It’s not exact but it’s very close in my opinion and lasts a lot longer.

  44. :

A lovely, lovely wash of coconut milk and sunshine, soft suntan-lotion floral and a whisper of ocean water. It’s gentle and warm, just like the feeling of sun on skin. It’s absolutely thrillingly beachy to me, in the clean sheets, soft pillows, hot sand, cool teal water way. It transports you immediately…
Coconut, yes, ylang ylang flowers, yes – and Coppertone sunscreen and salted air and dry sand between my toes and that overwhelming musky cleanness of white linen sheets and wicker drawers and billowing clouds and ocean whitecaps. This is truly the scent of skin warmed and baked by the sun after a morning in the surf, sun and air and water, life and pulsing tides and stars and teal blue out to the horizon. Easily the best beach scent I’ve ever smelled.
My one, singular complaint is this: why mark it as a “female fragrance”? I understand gender notes with scents like At The Barber’s or Lipstick On. But Beach Walk? I can’t for the life of me assign a gender to the beach…
Comparisons: It doesn’t have the notes of marine decay and oilyness of sunscreen that can be found in Bobbi Brown’s Beach – so true to life but not appealing to me – and I agree with those who say there’s a powdery mimosa accord to Beach Walk. It’s more similar to Bronze Goddess EDT – my favorite beach scent in the world – but milkier, less woody, more sun on skin than blazing heat. It shares its warm softness with Sun di Gioia but Sun is more gourmand, more vanilla. This is all coconut milk. It also shares the same clean-sheets feeling of Lilly Pulitzer’s Beachy but Beachy has more jasmine, salt, and melon. There’s virtually no salt in Beach Walk; instead there are clouds of clean, billowy musk – yet somehow a “salt air” accord still comes through.
Replica is true to its name, no question about that.

Very subtle, simple and thin fragrance. I have Beyond Paradise, nothing in common. Bronze Goddess – yes, see some similarity. Safe blind buy. Nothing special. The least interesting scent in this line. Not bad though. Everyday day use.

A true beach scent. Warm skin, suntan lotion, saltwater, tropical flowers, and soft coconut in sunshine. That’s what I think of when I close my eyes and smell Beach Walk. Perfect scent for warm weather. Reminds me of my childhood in Hawaii.

Blind buy..and I am totally in love! Absolutely stunning! I can see this being my trademark. Clean, salty beachy skin scent! I also believe this not to just be a calming sea scent but also VERY ELEGANT. A man would have to lean in to smell you-not obnoxious from feet away…LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I just got this and am loving it. I get a salty, aquatic, coconut that becomes somewhat sweet almost reminds me of sunscreen but not coppertone, or Hawaiian tropics. It’s close to the skin and not very strong on me. I’m glad I purchased a full bottle. So far I’m a few hrs in and can still smell it. Very nice. i have really liked this line of perfumes. Will plan on buying more from this line but it’s kinda expensive, especially since it’s not a powerhouse I feel like I might go thru more juice here lol

Last night and this morning is rainy
    Cool yet humid so far
So I went to my summer perfume shelf and just randomly decided to try Beach Walk by Maison Margiela, one of the two samples I got last summer from Nordstrom (the other was Tom Ford Soliel Blanc, so I was clearly on my habitual coppertone/summer scent search)
I ruled this one out last year because of its ozonic quality…
But for some reason today I love it
It’s got a creamy coconut, which is a tough note because if it’s not a fresh coconut it tends to get overwhelming or desserty or stripper-y.
    They did it just right.
There’s a lot of sea salt and ‘marine’ without going honeydew.
And then there’s this creamy nice quality that is mostly coconut but I think i can actually smell ylang ylang too.
The fragrance notes say citruses but those are very back seat.
The juxtaposition of two very different vibes, cozy/creamy and fresh/watery/airy is done very nicely.
I am going to have to pursue this and see if I like it ongoing or if it just for rainy summer days.

That’s not a coconut! this is slightly metallic musk, sea salt, ylang ylang, & cedar. Some heliotrope to softens the chaos that will be caused from ylang and musk blend.
    Pink pepper = Yes
    Lemon = overly mettalic
    Coconut = i really can’t detect it
Overall, it’s overly salted and it does presents the beach walk before sunset, mostly dry seasalt on a not soft sand but a bit grainy with allot of seashells.
Edit (25th Aug 2017) After applying it and wait more than 10 minutes, the coconut starts to appear with a salty flavor and a load of sea foam.

When I was a little girl, my aunt took me and my cousins to the lake shore. She smelled of suntan lotion, and the breeze over the water carried the scent of summer flowers.
