Description

New fragrance Baby Phat Dare Me by Kimora Lee Simmons was presented in April 2010 as their first fragrance aiming at wide market. The perfume was created with an intention to invite for action, while supporting people to be strong, proud, inspired and intelligent.

Baby Phat Dare Me was created by perfumers of the house of Givaudan, who enriched it with magnolia and island coconut in top notes. A heart beats with honeysuckle and African white milkwood, which are comfortably placed on a base composed of sandalwood and creme de musk. “The fragrance is fruity, but not overly fruity ” – said Kimora. “Its opening is fruity, with a hint of flowers and coconut. ” – Very girlie, sexy and spring-summery.

Fragrance Dare Me is available in pink flacon and pink outer carton in three sizes: travel size, 15ml EDT and 30ml EDT. Photos for the advertising campaign were taken by Alexi Lubomirski.

I really loved this perfume the first time I smelled it! It is a very happy, light, summer scent for me. There is no one note that stands out more than the other for me…but I love how it lasts on me most of the day, and how it is just a feminine but not overly juicy, flowery, or sugary scent. Just pretty. I don’t get all of the negative reviews about the synthetic smells associated with this…but maybe my nose is “off!”

My personal chemistry rears it’s ugly head on this one, as I can hand pick out the only notes that represent on me: African white milkwood, sandalwood and creme de musk. Coconut and fruit – no, and milky musk – yes. Sadly, this one will get placed in my gift closet.

So went to the fragrance counter today to see if I get a whiff of this coconut that other Fragrantica viewers are talking about. This is the second time I tried this one, and thank God I asked the girl to test it before I bought a small one……its a type of synthetic, suntan oil coconut smell, not the milky gourmand delight I hoped for.
Sillage is moderate and longevity is weak to moderate on my skin. To say the least, this is not for me. Congrats to those who love it for the price is ok! I am yet to find a delicious coconut fragrance!

i just received it today. its girly, fresh and can be used for evey occation – in general i like it, but its not long lasting… too much coconut!

I love this perfume, it is gorgeous. I definitely get the burst of coconut upon first spray, which is delicious. I love the beautiful trail of woodsy, musky, floral goodness that is left at the end of the day when I wear this. It is a definite treat for any time for me.

I really like this, close to a love even. The coconut, woods and magnolia really stand out..
Sillage started out very good but in less than an hour it was almost gone and after an hour not a hint remained. What a shame!!
This will be another ‘pillow’ scent for me.. Spray on my pillows for sweet dreams and I wont be disappointed when it disappears so fast..
    A+ for smell
    A for cute bottle
    C for sillage
    F for longivity

Even after all of the perfumes that I own and love, this one is truly my absolute favorite. I never get bored with this one. I like how the coconut stands out among the fruitiness and it just has the right amount of honeysuckle and magnolia without being too overpowering. I am in love with the muskiness and the sandalwood notes in this as well. It’s sexy and affordable!

Meh, its o.k. nothing super intense. I like it, but it doesnt really effect me that much. Seductive Goddess, her other one in the black bottle, best perfume in the world for me any ways.

Blind bought this, it’s nice, but…
So it is very coconutty. But up close it smells like flowers. Also, the flowers lend some sort of plastic-y edge to it, especially when you’re smelling it out of the bottle.
If you know what magnolia and honeysuckle smell like, maybe it’s that. It’s definitely not straight coconut though.
Overal: sweet coconut with a plastic-y edge that may be the florals.
For a sweet coconut milk (not coconut milk, but like milky coconut) try FCUK Friction for her.
And for a less sweet, slightly woody coconut try Harajuku Lovers G.
Based on two sprays (each hip).
Longevity: 30 minutes moderate projection, 1.5 hours soft projection.

Ok, so it arrived! It is sweeeeeeeeeeet with a capital S! I currently smell like a coconut slice, and it’s making me seriously hungry. It also has like a hair spray kinda undertone, which I actually like. Does that make me strange?
If you love coconut, you’ll love this.
EDIT: I just layered this with Jess Simpson’s FANCY. The result is spectacular! Nom nom nom

I was given this as a gift and didn’t wear it for a while as all I smelt was coconut oil sun tan lotion. NOT a smell I particularly enjoy..
However, I randomly decided to wear this one summer day and got so many compliments! People seem to like sweet coconut spice smells. It’s not an every day perfume and for me? I tend to wear this on hot summer nights when going out on the town! 🙂
Downside: Besides the very sweet sickly smell at first, is that the perfume itself doesn’t linger very long so you’re having to re-spray more often than not.

I wore dare me on one wrist and heat on the other, they are pretty much identical. The lasting power was the same on both

Dare me..to throw it away? K, done. Seriously. This is disgusting..it honestly smells like super cheap plastic, worse than the kind they make dollar store dolls out of…I can appreciate alot of scents but with the slew of the celebrity scents coming out, this line has GOT to be one of THE WORST 🙁 Just cheap plastic, I couldn’t pick out any notes whatsoever 🙁

Reminds me of pina colada. It smells fruity and perfect for any occasion

  15. :

The perfume is a hands-down coconut and vanilla sweet scent. It’s definitely a fruity floral, it is a eau de toilet, so it doesn’t last very long. It’s a light smell, so you can spray a lot and won’t be too heavy.

Well ALL I could smell was the coconut. Turns out I really don’t like coconut .

no coconut here, just smells like a face cream to me

This is the only perfume that has coconut that I can actually stand without getting a headache. I love coconut. There were some perfumes that I had, that had coconut and they were just to strong and cloying. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. But not this one. This is softer and creamier, which I enjoy.

  19. :

I love the top notes, but it quickly faded into something sickly and generic.

coconut and honeysuckle at first and then watery soft magnolia appears. quite nice at times! however, i don’t think my nose appreciates coconut and some flowers altogether. Coconut as a tropical and/or beach scent is quite likable, but in here I don’t like it with magnolia. It gets better once coconut wears off. It becomes light floral like a soft skin scent, and that part I like.

Oh it does smell a lot like beyonce’s heat in the opening at first spray, then the coconut and the rest of the notes follow through , making this perfume unique in its own pretty way and not a dupe to Beyonce’s Heat. Amazing fragrance! I could go through a bottle in less than a month or two (well the 30ml bottle anyway. And I definitely love coconut.

This is a gorgeous scent! I have a vegan imitation of it,and I love the creamy goodness!
It is coconutty at the start till the drydown, but it does not smell like suntan lotion to my nose. It smells very warm, woody, juicy, and sweet! :0) There is a fruit feel here too, like a touch of guava, even though I don’t see it listed. I don’t think the coconut is the star here. I think the notes all blend in harmony. The honeysuckle is not as strong as the magnolia to me.
I love the imitation of this! I have never smelled the original scent.

I like Dare me. Especially now in summer. It’s a very nice coconut scent. Of course you have to be into coconut for liking it 🙂 So, if you liked Avons Tahitian Holiday, this is a good and longer staying replacement. So far I only bought a mini-bottle, because I had to blind-buy. But I would consider buying a bigger one afterwards.
PS: I also don’t agree: it does not at all smell like Heat by Beyonce.

  24. :

    3 out of 5

The coconut is very prevalent. The fruits and wood notes seem to stay in the background. It reminds me of suntan lotion but this is much better because of the additional supporting notes. Like backup singers where the coconut is front and centre. I think it will be fun to wear in the summer.

I LOVE coconut, therefore, I love this. It smells like Beyonce’s Heat, but Dare me is better. It’s very summery and tropical, and I love it. I would definitely recommend this to a coconut lover, like myself.

I liked some Kimora’s frag in the past so i decided to give it a spritz. Wow! Immediately, i loved it. I thought it was tiare flower and coconut(it was magnolia and coconut) and it just smelled summery and light. Immediately, i had an image of beautiful sandy beaches, blue water and beautiful bronzed women, sipping pina colada. This is really light and airy fragrance, not overpowering at all. I did smell the magnolia note but its very light and fresh and almost right away coconut takes over. there is a hint of sandalwood and musk on the drydown but coconut predominates from start to finish. So basicly, this is coconut scent with just the hint of floral notes. There is nothing fruity about it so i don’t know where other posters smelling fruit.
And for the record- i smelled one from Harajuku Lovers and prefer this. I also own Exotic Coconut from BBW and Coconut Passion from VS and Dare me IS different from both of these.
My H said it smelled like suntan lotion-mind you i concur but i think its really NICE suntan lotion. Lasting power is not the greatest-maybe couple of hours at the most so i layered it with Exotic Coconut from BBW to give it a bit more lasting power but i think any coconut lotion would do. Did i mention that it was $16 and i bought it on the spot? Heck, i really promised myself that i wouldn’t buy perfumes impulsively but i couldn’t resist this! And i love the pink and girly bottle!
Notes: magnolia, coconut, honeysuckle, african milkwood, sandalwood, cream musk

Smell is lovely. First time I wore this I noticed the lasting power wasn’t so good. So I heard to extend the scent of a perfume longer to dab vaseline on your pulse points and then dab on the perfume. Once trying this I was able to enjoy this scent much much longer. Very nice coconut scented fragrance. Thumbs up

I love this perfume because I love coconut. It smells super yummy warm coconutty! If you are not a fan of coconut you will most likely not like this. I would have to say wearing this on a warm summer day would be absolutely delicious!
**The more I wear this the more obsessed I become…this stuff is just fantastic!!! I love love love love it. Light, fresh, warm, coconut lovliness!!!

found a giftset at a pharmacy for $10.50 1 oz spray 2.5 oz lotion cute set but wouldn’t have paid the original price for it. Nothing but coconut and no lasting power and the lid looks like my hard candy fragrance lid overall not impressed I will stick to the 3 goddessess they are much better besides a 1 oz fragrance is a waste of money too small to really enjoy and spray the way I like to (alot) lol!

I have a different comparison to Dare Me than Heat. EL Pleasures Delight, add a tart fruit note.
I can’t decide overall what I think but in general I like it. It has a sharper fruit note on my skin than it did on paper and I really liked the softer quality it had on paper. This is where I can’t quite decide. Nice, not in love, but I like it.

I have tryed Dare Me and it does smell alittle like Beyonce’s Heat. Maybe when you open the bottle other than that, the two don’t smell alike, at least not on my skin.

I bought this at Walmart for $16…and the box it was in, was pretty big also I never sampled it before I bought it but because it said Baby Phat…which I am a big fan of KLS fragrances I purchased it…well… when I opened it… just like the guest review said… I felt cheated! I was slightly ticked off.. what a waste of box! The bottle was very small and I thought it was crazy to put such a small bottle in it lol! I was really thinking it must be pretty good stuff to need so little. I mean.. Sometimes when perfume comes in small sizes, you may just need a dab or so, you know what Im sayin?? As far as the scent…I wasn’t like WOW! I was more like O.. um.. ok. This is more of a teen fragrance, yes all I smell is coconut and musk, cute bottle/w pink jewel cap too. I wouldn’t purchase again for myself but I would give this to my 11yr and 14yr old neices. The lasting power is only about 4 to MAYBE 5 hrs and its totally gone and needs to be applied again, very light. I think I will stick to her other perfumes, I like Baby Phat goddess and seductive goddess they are more my level and also they are perfume and more longer lasting than this. I thought about getting Beyonce Heat but if it smells like this and I’m pretty sure it smells ok, I might have to think about it first.

Please don’t spend money on this if you can find a body spray at Bath N Body Works that you like just as much.
This scent is very synthetic smelling and disappears almost instantly.
I have the rollerball from CVS.

I was able to test this at Target. And as much as I don’t want to compare this to Beyonce’s heat, it smells so similar. There is a lot of coconut on dare me that isn’t it heat…but other than that, its almost identical. Warm, fruity, and short lived!

  36. :

First whiff was a “no”…a rather bitter flowery scent assaulted my nose. Then, after walking around Target shopping for a short while, the test scent wafted up from my wrist as a soft, powdery-coconut fragrance. Sort of baby powder + a very nice suntan lotion. Very summer-y! So I justified the impulse buy because it was the 4th of July and I was celebrating summer 🙂 As it wears on, Dare Me is very delicate and pretty. Happy Summer!

Wow, coconut overload! At least, that’s the prominent note I get from beginning to end. No doubt this one smells cheap and juvenile, but it’s not particularly bad. The beginning is sickeningly synthetic, but the dry down has that “nice shampoo” sort of vibe to it. Exactly like I predicted. I’d get this for a younger girl, but it’s just not for me.

  38. :

it does remind me of heat. but it has a stronger smell. i didnt like it when i but it on at first but the longer you wear it the better it smells

This is pure guilty pleasure! I love the excessively teenage bottle and the hot pink crystal cap. Even the cheesy name is fun, though its hard not to laugh when telling someone that you are wearing Baby Phat.
Love the tropical fruity scent although in no way do i find it new or original. Though less aquatic, its very similar to Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Now The Beauty of Brazil, which was last years guilty pleasure buy. Both these scents aren’t very interesting on their own but something about their bottles and general design and marketing really drew me in. It added that special something…or maybe im just a sucker in a capitalistic world.
Either way, this fragrance makes me happy and is for those days when its warm and i want to wear a skirt and not think too much. The pleasant surprise was that the woods in Dare Me really come out on my skin and turn a very generic summer scent into something a little more sensual and intimate.

I tested this at Target. It smells just like Beyonce’s Heat. The notes are pretty much the same. If u like Heat & can’t afford it, get Dare Me. They’re so much alike. : )
