Description

Azzaro is launching a new fragrance for men in November 2011 as a version of the original edition Azzaro Pour Homme from 1978. The new fragrance is available in a flacon shaped like its antecedents colored in iridescent black and gray.

Azzaro Pour Homme Night Time is constructed as green-fougere-woody fragrance, announced as intense and with a strong characteristic. It was created by perfumers of the house of Givaudan – Christophe Raynaud and Michel Girard, who enriched it with bitter orange and rhubarb in the very top. A heart is composed if black pepper and nutmeg, while base notes are woody and sophisticated, offering vetiver and cedar.

I find it an interesting, unique fragrance. Nothing off putting to my nose, though I’m not refined to point or picking out every stage of the fragrance. It smell good on opening and continues to be alright all way thru, though rubarb definitely rules this fragrance from start to finish and is what makes unique to me. Overall it’s a nice add to the collection.

Rhubarb is a note that I least expect it to be in any fragrance. I was “scared” of it in Thierry Mugler Aura EDP For Women, and got irritated with it in Hermès Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate For Men and Women. However, I found it quite OK and wearable in this Night Time.
I like the opening and the dry down, with rhubarb, vetiver and fresh bitter orange, but not so much of the middle, as it was getting “meh”/”neutral” with just smokey/damp wood!?!? The “smokey” effect was probably because of the pepper note, but I don’t know if there was also “moss” note that I smelled to give the “damp” vibe to the composition.
Overall, it is still a standard, wearable frag for men with casual, low-key and traditional personality. Sorry I can’t say that it is an interesting or unique fragrance. It leans toward simple/conservative style, but not outdated. It is not a must-have, but not a complete pass either.

I just went back and tested it for the hell of it. The initial opening & blast is actually really nice on my skin. Then it dries down to a synthetic, fruity, unoriginal, pretty awful mess on my skin in the mid. The base calms down and that’s where the “night” aspect comes in. It vastly improves on the drydown to the base.
So it starts pretty good, dries down pretty bad, then finishes actually fairly nice.
Not bad, but definitely not great either. It smells like something my dad would’ve worn in the 70s or 80s. That’s by no means a bad thing, but it’s definitely not modern-day either.
    Overall I’d give it a 6 out of 10.

Mediocre. It’s very sharp and biting when it comes in. I smelled rhubarb on first test, but the main notes that came out for me were the spice and orange. So bitter orange -> mystery spice -> acceptably sweet but still dirty/heavy (vetiver?).
Not going to buy again, but not a huge loss at the price (70 AED). I hate the sprayer, classic Azzaro lets you open the nozzle and refill it. This is just meh. It’s almost as though you were trying to follow up Julio Iglesias with Enrique, if we’re doing an Azzaro pour homme comparison with this. That one is bright and sunny with a manly edge and classy lavender, whereas this is a very confused scent. What is it for exactly? Couldn’t wear it to class, and definitely not my first choice for nighttime.

its almost same as decibel by azzaro…there is strong synthetic and harsh opening and im sure got licorice in it….its very strong…drydown is nice.i prefer elixir and onyx over this.gotta test more

Really like this rhubarb orange and wood I don’t think a true night fragrance I think night means rich dark smell for this one. Almost smoky orange rhubarb soapy mystic that’s words that come to mind. Very different it has a yummy I can’t stop smelling my arm vibe. I wanted something different and this is different. If you are clean clean fragrances person this will prob be to dark for u. But if your like me and have tired it all then u will like the feeling this gives u.

This is an odd one. Its very sharp and zesty. It could easily be an Intense flanker of Azzaro L’eau. I don’t experience any night time vibe from this. And I don’t see any similarity with Altamir at all (see the ‘reminds me of’ above).

While I cannot say it is a great fragrance I can say it’s intriguing.
You can certainly smell that bitter orange, it almost smells like an orage with it’s leaves still on. The rhubarb is quite out there too and it mixes well with the orange, they often have a common smell yet dissociate at times. That’s for the opening anyway.
The rest is good though with occasional hints of the original Azzaro pour Homme, kind of like when a movie title is found within the dialogues of that film, that “aaah there it is” moment which immediately ends.
They call it Night Time, I would rather call it Evening than Night as it isn’t really intense, it’s a light dark fragrance if that makes sense.
Longevity on me is great, I get a full day and some more. It projects okay, it’s not a monster but it’s not weak either. Overall it’s a good fragrance and for the price you can get it at, I don’t think there is any reason to hate it at all.

Bought this as a blind buy a couple of months ago because I heard good stuff about the Azzaro line. I have worn it a couple of times, but have been busy trying out a lot of samples and decants.
I put this on the other night and absolutely loved it!! So glad I have this now. Very pleasing and comforting to wear!!
    Love it!!

aha… I have the whole azzaro homme line
    this one is really horrible
    it gave me headache
    bitter orange is my fav
    rhubarb, maybe that’s the reason
but I have got other scents that has rhubarb in
well, Azzaro could make better juice in this box
    that’s it
and this is definitely for cold winter days

THE OPENING ALONE WAS WORTH THE BUY….I JUST WISHED IT COULD HOLD THE BITTER ORANGE,GRAPEFRUIT,RHUBARB,SENSUAL VAPOUROUS EXCTASY INDUCING SMELL AT FIRST SPRAY….BUT IT FADES AWAY IN MINUTES..BUT THE REMNANTS AND INITIAL EUPHORIA MAKES THIS A GOOD UNIQUE FRAG…WISH IT WAS MORE POTENT THOUGH…7.5/10…UNIQUE IN ITS OWN RIGHT!!….P..S…JUST FIGURED OUT THE NEAR TWIN OF THIS….AND ITS CLOSE…HORIZON BY GUY LAROUCHE!! IF U OWN BOTH…LET ME KNOW….STILL WISH IT WAS STRONGER…THE HORIZON IS MORE POTENT BTW…BOTH SMELL AWESOMEEE THOUGH!!!!!! CIAO

Just got this one from Marshalls for 20$ and all I can say is amazing I may need another bottle

I really like this Azzaro Night Time.
Had I gone off of reviews here I would have never done a blind buy on this. In fact it sounded so lack luster in comparison to reviews for Azzaro Classic and Azzaro Onyx that I had already made up my mind to not get it based on my preferences. But, there it was… staring me in the face at TJ Max… so I said what the heck… Azzaro has impressed me before so I’ll drop the 20 bucks.
All I can say is wow! I love it!
It starts off with a nice bitter orange and green bite with a hint of minty deception from the rhubarb that says “hey! I am right here!”
After several minutes the greenery gets warmed up by a very nice cinnamon/nutmeg floral with a slight tinge of pepper. Very nice intrigue in the morphing that says “follow me!”
In about an hour or so it becomes slightly sweet and soft with cedar, vetiver, and vanilla notes that stays closer to the skin and says “come closer…”
So, how it starts is not how it ends…
    What it is not:
It’s not a projection bomb that would keep going for hours and hours and keep turning heads. It’s not offensive or overpowering.
    What it is:
A gentleman… Tipping his hat, and then daring you to find out more about him. It is inviting and warm, and tempts you to get a closer view.
Hours later…. Who knows… I may have just found a new signature scent.

    Beautiful and unique.
    Worth a blind buy.
Honestly, It leans more feminine to me. With a dusty candy like lemon note.
Its also powdery so it can get cloying in the heat

I really like this bitter fruit/sharp spice with a hint of wood composition! I think the youngsters might find this too “mature,” however, even though there isn’t much lavender. I held off on blind buying this one until the price was just too good to resist, and I’m glad I did, because it doesn’t smell all that much like anything I already own (the closest being vintage Xeryus Rouge in the drydown). It has a kind of dentist office smell, though, in case that really bothers you. To me, that element is softened up enough so that it’s not irritating. One of the most powerful scents I own! If someone asked me to name it, I’d call it Spice Intense.
UPDATE: Another wearing and I still like this. After a few hours, in fact, I get at least the impression of tobacco! I think there’s a touch of tonka in here, and along with the woody element, the hint of tobacco is generated. The tester bottle I have lists coumarin (as well as lavender, but fortunately the other notes seem to dominate, and so it has no more than a hint of a fougere accord).

Just revisited this juice. I am totally digging it. There’s some unconventional vibe about it, even some unsettled manner that makes it stand out in a good way. Love the sour fresh aspect and the very much “blood”-like style of the rhubarb. Its rough around the edges but the feeling & emotion that it triggers makes me wanna use this juice at night or even day just to go against the flow and gather attention. Honestly at night, this is damn sexy because its not aiming to be smooth and gentle like suede, it looses the commercial side of a fragrance and creates more of an overall standoff-ish feel that separates the person who wears it from the crowd in a provocative, good, sexy way. Count Dracula standing at the Bar, sipping a Campari on Ice while already aiming at his next victim. Special juice!

Just realized Night Time was probably intended to be a clone to L’Eau d’Issey Intense but unfortunately resulted in a rather rustic inferior smelling aura of Intense at its worst point which is the first 10-15mins. Don’t get me wrong I still kind of like it but after smelling Intense, I feel Azzaro would have done better.

The moderate voters are those that test with one shot of spray and think it lasts for -7 hours , take your time and bond with this one , you will go back and change your reviews

SORRY MR AZZARO dont like it
it’s citrus and;;;and for day definitely not for night
the opening is bad (just my opinion) however fiew minutes later it becomes less agressive

Released in 2011, after the success achieved with the sales of Azzaro Pour Homme Elixir (2009), this cologne came to my wish list, ever since I met it on an international trip I have done. But I think the company lost itself in concept, by stating that the name describes, clearly, the ideal time to wear this new olfactory expression, i.e. at night. In my point view, this fragrance can be worn at any time of the day, but is not as sexy or seductive as the Elixir version.
Azzaro Night Time is more versatile, even though transmits confidence. And it has no oriental notes in order to amplify the Oriental facet. On the contrary, it’s not sweet or creamy. Is aromatic and green, with a woody base. Its notes combine bitter orange and rhubarb, on top; Fern accord, black pepper and nutmeg, in the heart; Cedar and vetiver, in the base.
According to the manufacturer, it would be a retelling of the classic from 1978, Azzaro Pour Homme, maintaining the same olfactory structure: character (represented by anise), seduction (represented by Lavender) and timelessness (represented by the vetiver). In this respect, I agree! This Night Time version can be strong, seductive and timeless, within the current market male moulds. It is not dated (old), but also not to party.
When it reaches the skin, the output is fruity without being juicy. The rhubarb has this tart and fruity aroma that combines very well with notes of spices. And the Orange helps giving the citric and bitter tone. Although many people don’t like the nuance of rhubarb, for me this is the most interesting part in this scent. The evolution brings a greener level. Although the Fern has no smell, as Mint, for example, the accord that was used, along with the pepper, provides a drier smell, prefacing the Woody base. The cedar, in my opinion, ends the evolution with perfection. Its resinous, green, almost citrus and luminous aroma, produces a positive effect on any male fragrance.
Making a crude comparison, I would say that this version is the most jovial and safe of all, while the Elixir version would be for the conqueror and romantic man and the original version for the classic and older man.
To finish, the bottle kept the same visual identity of the line Pour Homme, with a discrete grayscale gradient.

Just received this and here are my thoughts. Azzaro Pour Homme Night Time is hardly a night time scent, it’s actually a day time scent more like for work or when you don’t want a loud fragrance or for someone who wants something very simple to wear and not turn off folks around them. It’s decent actually quite nice but it’s completely marketed wrong. Perhaps they would have had mor success with this one if they called it Azzaro Day Time! LOL!
The bottle is really nice though I give them credit for that but they put the wrong juice in it. I just love looking at the dark black color of the bottle.
The scent starts with a nice soft powdery bitter orange with rhubarb then dries down to a soft woody scent. I don’t get much of the spices in the mids but that’s just my chemistry. If you’re thinking of a Night Time scent don’t think about this one but do think about this for your inexpensive everyday work scent! 🙂

first impression: decibel! but heavier (in a way i kind dislike it)… I prefere much more becibel over this one, but if u like decibel have a try, it s the same style
(i m judging only by the top notes, later I can say smt more…)

Got a sample vial as a gift. It’s really not the powerful clubbing scent it may suggest. While it dries down, gets quite confortable.
I get rhuburb, nutmeg and cedar most of the time. I think it’s nice, sweet and cosy. Girlfriend’s reaction: “yummy”.
    Worth a try.

  32. :

not bad but it isn’t good enough..
I don’t like azzaro perfumes, but if you want one of them then decibel is your best opportunity.

  33. :

Sharp citrus start. After that calms down to a not so sharp wood smell. I’m on the fence with this one. I put it in the like category since I’ll probably wear this one sometime, however it is kind of boring. Good thing I only paid $18 for a bottle on a blind buy. If all else fails. It’ll probably be gifted to my little brother.
5.5/10 since it’s not in the dislike category

A dark delicious mysterious masterpiece. Captures the excitement and beauty of a night out on the town as well as any fragrance I’ve come across. It’s very similar to la nuit de l’homme by YSL but more mature and sophisticated and better IMO. Just the right amount of sweetness and citrus to lighten things up while the rhubarb and woods casts a beautiful masculine rich shadow over everything to bring it all together. Still carries the skeleton of the original azzaro pour homme but is essentially more free spirited and exciting. I love the original but if I’m looking to let loose a bit this is what I reach for.

This is hard for me to write this, but I cannot stand this Juice! In my opinion this is one of the worst Fragrances Azzaro has put out in A long time. I like absolutely nothing about this scent. Again, just my opinion.
For the record Azzaro Intense is my signature and all time Favorite Fragrance.
Not really sure where Azzaro was heading with this one??
    1/10

  36. :

    4 out of 5

My tester bottle says that the main notes are bitter orange, lavender, cedar and vetiver. Where is the lavender on this Fragrantica page?
Overall I find this to be closer to the original Azzaro than the Elixir version and on me this seems to be a variation of the classic lavender, orange and amber accord (think Jo Malone) heightened by sweet rhubarb and citrus as the top notes. I was surprised to find that this one isn’t as sweet as the notes might lead one to believe. As it dries down I feel mostly the dry woods and earthy vetiver. Not nearly as sweet overall as Elixir.
I’m on the fence with this one, not sure if I love it or if I find it somewhat boring.

Sorry to say but based on the reviews here only, blind bought a 100 ml bottle of this artificial juice which I just cant seem to register. Projection is only a rumor after 2 hrs max and the scent no doubt is unique but nothing to take home kindda.. Simply no comparison to Hugo red even. It’s actually a citrus version of exlir azzaro which I hate in the first place. Chrome sport just tops the shelve in the house of azarro STILL

LOOOVEEE this one! It smells like a vampire has taken a glass of delicious Campari on the Rocks at his favourite Bar, just before heading out into the night to find his next young, beautiful victim. The orange and rhubarb make this a very RED, almsot blood-like juice for me! I love sour tastes and therefore this is also perfect! A good proof that THERE ARE still nice quality new releases out there which have imagination, spirit and quality! Amazing job by Christophe Raynaud and Michel Girard! Bravo!

this is a pure grapfruite in a bottle specially at the first opening of this fragrance

  41. :

    3 out of 5

adding: forgot to say that I remember Azzaro Elixir, I think it would be a citrus version of “Elixir.”

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Output is pure bitter orange. In a few minutes quiets down and appears rhubarb and cedar. Nutmeg, pepper and vetiver are very discrete. It really is not an exclusively nocturnal fragrance as the name suggests. It is a “jocker” despite being a heaviest citric may be used “day time” and matches all ages. It has high quality, is a “Azzaro”!

  43. :

    3 out of 5

Very spicey at first, this one smoothly develops into a modern male scent that is suitable on any occasion. It is neither out of place in winter or summer, office or going out, day or night, and may be worn by young or old men. Not a classic, but a nice one.

This scent is what great brands do know, reinterpret their masterpieces without becoming ridiculous.
I’m pleasantly surprised by this fragrance.
It’s perfect in every way, and can really capture the spirit of the evening outings.
Their olfactory notes are lively and refreshing at the same time. It’s a mix very well achieved.
Longevity and projection are very good.
    I love it.

  47. :

    3 out of 5

Decent. Had a decant and wasn’t impressed. Too woody and peppery for my taste. Sillage is decent. If someone is sitting next to you , they’ll smell it. Wont fill up a room or anything so don’t have your expectations too high. Longevity is about 2-3 hours. Overall, this is an “okay” fragrance. Definitely try before purchasing.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Bitter citrus and dry spices leads to a dirty-dark sensation, and layer of the rhuburb wich is the big deal in this fragrance, makes it to be good. Sillage is as powerfull as the original Azzaro pour Homme.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

Night Time is very citrus driven; quite sharp, sour-fresh, and the intensive spicy accord is very dry. Overall quite strong, linear and the prominent citrus is unyielding, yet the scent has a darker mood that is interesting.
I would classify this more as a modern aromatic spicy rather than fougere; along the lines of Armani Mania with a lot of orange/grapefruit.
