I wanted to like this, since I like all the notes. As others have mentioned, it starts off as a very dry cinnamon. After a few minutes, it’s tempered with some wood and incense. If that’s where it ended, I’d write this up as an unbalanced, but not entirely unpleasant fragrance. Just a fragrance that is far too harsh on the cinnamon, that is missing a balancing note, and that smells much cheaper than it is.
However, my troubles do not end there. As soon as I put this on from the sample vial, I was transported back to my middle school days of doing the Big Red challenge. I legit think they put straight up cinnamon extract in here because my skin started burning and turning bright red. I looked like a candy cane. I do not have sensitive skin.
I sprinkled the remainder of the sample vial on my decorative pine cones… I do not recommend this to anyone.

I really like Autumn…I don’t get the cereal vibe so many others are commenting on…this similar to Winter, but taking out the pine/spruce element and replacing it with cinnamon…it appears Spring, Summer and Autumn are all being discontinued so pick up while you can…

I couldn’t figure out was making me curl my nose up at the one; it sounded right up my alley, and I was hoping for a cinnamon blast. But something underneath kept me from really loving it, and the reviewer who mentioned hot breakfast cereal was dead on. This totally reminds me of the smell of instant breakfast packets while camping.

Cinnamon, cinnamon and did I say cinnamon. That’s it. Bathing in dry ground cinnamon. There is no oud or complexity. As it dried down it did get less sweet and cinnamon then a wood, maybe cedar or sandalwood, came up but in a way that smelled synthetic and almost like a Bandaid when it is wet.

I love Dasein Winter, I adore their Summer, I am ambivalent about Spring, but I absolutely hate Autumn. It smells to me like a warm instant breakfast cereal they sold when I was young called Maypo, Like an artificially maple flavored cream of wheat. Also reminded me of Carner Palo Santo, which I shudder to recall. Sorry, not for me.

This fragrance is aptly named Autumn for a reason. That cinnamon is very pronounced and the other notes mixed perfectly to create great nostalgia. But forewarned you must like the big red gum type cinnamon. Just try if you are in to niche fragrances and appreciate the art of this wonderful hobby. Expensive, but wonderful 😉

My little brother died 9 days ago….. Out of the kindness of a perfume community member’s heart, I now have a bottle of this , a complete surprise and it’s just beautiful. If I weren’t crying so hard I’d probably say more…. But it’s so spicy, not harsh on the oud… I will never ever part with this bottle of kindness and love. If you love cinnamon and spicy orientals, get this . It’s wonderful. And so is the giver.

Merry Christmas!
As others have noted this opens like the door to a Yankee Candle shop in December. This is a very dry and not sweet cinnamon, not gourmand, no CinnaBon yummies; instead it is a dry and dusty cinnamon stick, and not Ceylon cinnamon either. The opening is harsh. Then the oudh comes at you, smelling more leather than oudh, followed by cedar, lots of cedar, arriving early and staying late.
About the coffee note: this is not that plastic synthetic “coffee” note that I get too often with alleged coffee fragrances. This coffee is not strong but it is at least coffee, and more black coffee than milky coffee, which I prefer. So that is the high point for me, and that is a thin reed indeed considering the coffee is being smothered under a blanket of incense.
It desperately needs something to lighten the load. The incense started with a little tobacco note, but this quickly morphed into dirty campfire followed by cheap head shop incense. The whole affair makes me a little queasy and light headed.
At six hours it mellowed and sweetened. That was unexpected. It was the oudh that started to smell sweet and woody instead of dry and leathery, creating a much more agreeable drydown.

I liked this on dry-down more than on the opening. The top note of cinnamon was very strong. I like cinnamon, but this was a bit too much. It smelled like one of those “autumn” or “apple pie” candles you find everywhere, but without the sugar. After an hour or two, the cinnamon faded. Still there, but in the back seat instead of front and center. At this point, I smell mostly amber, cedar and oud, with a tinge of incense. I like it now!
I have a feeling this would layer really nicely with other fragrances, ideally something that would tone down the cinnamon opening. As with the other Dasein “season” fragrances, this feels quite masculine to me but if layered with something else, it might feel better suited to being worn by a woman. Definitely test before buying, and wear it for a while before making a decision.

I had very high hopes for this one. I ADORED it when I first put it on: sweet cinnamon paired with resinous wood and a touch of bitter coffee-spiked smoke. As the hours ticked past, the cinnamon faded, and I was left with scratchy cedar and incense.

In the US, grocery and discount stores like Walmart sell these cinnamon brooms during the fall. That’s how it opens. Intensely cinnamony, not in a gourmand way. In a “fall home decoration” way. Now, that’s a great smell. But it’s not something I want to wear. It calms down after a while but never really becomes something I’d enjoy.

This is a very pleasant surprise! An absolutely wonderful, warm-spicy woody fragrance with lots of semi-sweet cinnamon, resinous woods and a touch of coffee. It’s loveable enough to grab a full bottle. If you love orietal woody fragrances… try it, I highly reccomend it!!
