I am having a ‘rose’ moment (having never worn rose perfumes before) and recently bought Pacifica Persian Rose and this. Both are lovely, but quite different. The Body Shop rose is light and pure. Doesn’t last long – maybe an hour or two, longer on clothing, and is more of a girly, feminine, pretty rose. Quite pure.
Persian Rose is the dirty older sister of the two. (Did someone say there is myrrh in it? That makes sense.) You could say Body Shop for daytime and Pacifica for evening, however if it’s a night in, I like to spritz the Atlas Mountain Rose early evening and it’s faded by bedtime. Persian Rose is a bit more ‘stimulating’ so it depends what you’re gonna do at bedtime!
Either way I’d recommend both, especially as they’re inexpensive, cruelty free and vegan. Also, neither of them are remotely ‘old ladyish’ (which I’ve heard some people mention when it comes to rose scents).

To me this is a very pleasant smelling rose fragrance. It does not however remind me of Paul Smith Rose in the slightest/ I think it is very similar to Rosie For Autograph by M&S. Longevity is not brilliant, up to 4 hours on me, I wish it was more.

I love body shop as they are cruelty free products. To me it is just like Stella by Stella McCartney. I’ve got one on one wrist and the other on the other wrist and can’t distinguish between them. Both cruelty free but Atlas Mountain Rose is half the price. Result!

really love smelling it on my ex. it was soo alluring.

For me, the citrus scent is almost unnoticeable, which I think might be a good thing because I’m not a really citrus-rose person. The light musk is only detectable after it dries down. It smells like a lighter version of Tea Rose only drier. Over all it’s a non-offensive spring/summer scent that is suitable for day wearing.
Overall scent 6/10 (had high expectation but not crazy about it after receiving my bottle)
    Sillage – 2/10
Longevity – 3/10 for EDT I wouldn’t expect it to last longer than 2 hours
This is some good-girl next door scent, she goes to church, has vanilla sex, and is very kind/helpful.

I loved this immediately from the first sniff. This smells excellent. The citruses and rose compliment each other well. This perfume honestly smells almost exactly like Paul Smith Rose, another rose that I am a fan of. However, Atlas Mountain rose is slightly more citrusy and “smooth” in a way, maybe the amber? I think I enjoy this one more. Fresh, slightly sweet rose.
Also, the Body Shop’s website lists blackcurrant as one of the notes in this perfume.

I love this scent: fresh, elegant, sexy roses. But it doesn’t last at all. Too bad…

If you’re a rose lover, this is a pleasing, affordable light rose fragrance perfect for work or for days when you just want something easy to wear, likeable and with low projection.
In the same vein as Paul Smith Rose, DKNY Rose and Lancôme Milles et une roses.
If you want it to last a little longer, layer it with the body lotion. The sillage is still low but this increases longevity by several hours on my skin.

    * These are my personal experiences/thoughts with this fragrance. Yours/others may differ. *
    Initial – citrus + rose
    Drydown – rose + musk
    Duration – 5-6 hours
    Projection – soft
Experiences – Opens with citrus notes, but quickly becomes straightforward rose scent. Very refreshing; good warm weather rose.
Quick Thoughts – rosy, clean, fresh, discontinued (?)
Reminds Me Of – Paul Smith Rose, Chloé Roses de Chloé (drydown)

True rose, dewy, subtle and noble. It’s like a veil of delicacy that you can feel in a roses garden in the early morning. Lovely, sensual, unforgettable.

This is one of the best Rose scents that came out of The Body Shop, a few years ago. Sadly, it’s in the discontinued line up and have seen it on clearance (40-60% off) for quite some time on their website.
From the bath gel, body butter, and EDT, all are exceptional buys. The Rose in Atlas Mountain is delicate, airy, and so easy to wear. This is the fragrance that made my dislike for all things Rose change. Soon after, I found myself testing all kinds of Rose scents. Stock up while they’re still available.

I tried this today and it reminds me of the lovely discontinued Cassis Rose, but a bit lighter. I’m delighted and will be investing in the whole range for spring/summer. It’s the sort of thing that I like to put on after my evening shower in summer – nothing too perfumey, just fresh and clean and lovely.

I fell in love with this feminine, light and fresh scent of crispy, young roses at the very first sniff.
I don’t seem to ever get tired of smelling this beautiful, clean and fresh scent on my skin, and even though I have to re-spray because what this scent doesn’t lack in beauty and rosy freshness it lacks in longevity, I don’ t really mind. I use the body lotion as Well, and it helps a little when it comes to being able to enjoy the scent even longer and even more.

This fragrance is very light, aquatic, with a hint of rosiness. An easy scent to throw on during the daytime, good for warm weather. The scent is very subtle and for me I appreciated the refreshing spritz of water rather than the fragrance on a summer day.

I bought this after going through half a bottle of Moroccan Rose so I wouldn’t run out of it and could have something similar. Atlas Mountain Rose is nice but it doesn’t have much in common with its predecessor. This is a rose on the first day that you buy it. Not a rosebud, but it was a rosebud a day or two ago. Very fresh and green. Compared to this, Moroccan Rose is heady, in full bloom, spicy and sweet. It makes me ache with nostalgia. I wear this one when I don’t want to feel nostalgic…

  16. :

I love this. Very pleasant and rosy like a fresh rose. I get the citrus in the begining, then it dries down to a very lovely, slightly powdery rose ( just the tiniest hint of powder). All in all very fresh.
British Rose by the Body Shop, compared to this is more clean and sharp, it lacks that tad of powder that I enjoy)
    Very nice everyday scent.
Sillage and longevity are weak to moderate.

    Adorable clean tearose scent.
It has almost no longevity, but at the price the Bodyshop sells this for, that isn’t really an issue!

i just got back from my trip in morocco and this scent really reminds me of the time when i walked through alley where the ladies sell fresh rose petals at the souq. I have always liked the “natural” kind of smell by Body Shop.

I adore this scent. I used to feel that rose was a very old fashioned scent and my nose since has decided otherwise (or I have aged…) I love that this scent has a bit of sweet (maybe that’s the citrus?) and is not overwhelming or too strong. It’s just a lovely soft rose that feels soft, feminine, and dreamy. I wear this often.

  20. :

A very powdery rose smell. Smells exactly like the rose talc my mum wears during summer. As an Indian living in a country obsessed with rose scents, i found this really light and not the intense rose smell i associate with other rose scents and it’s definitely not strong enough to wear at night.

  21. :

Smells like roses de chloe, minus the muskiness and slight fruitiness from RDC,personal advice, don’t get the perfume oil because it’s not worth it,the projection is also very soft and the sillage is moderate, smells like your basic rose scent,80% plain rose with a bit of musk and citrus, that’s it

A really lovely casual rose scent.
I really love this scent in general, it’s so cheery and bright. It’s my favourite body wash and use it every day, it puts me in such a good mood.
Although I love the scent, I tend not to wear the fragrance often, just because I feel like the sillage and longevity are not strong with the EDT. To have any chance of it lasting a couple of hours, I really need to layer it on with multiple products in this scent, including body wash, body cream, body oil on pulse points, and a several sprays of the EDT. And I would still carry the fragrance mist or EDT in my bag to reply later throughout the day. This is the only downside, it’s a lot of work to keep this scent going! It’s too bad because it’s such a pretty fragrance otherwise.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

I am lucky enough to have a bottle of the oil before it was discontinued. It does last a bit longer than the EDT spray. But not by much. This is nice and simple but you need to reapply so often that it’s a chore to wear. Not the best rose scent out there but not the worst. Cheap and cheerful but not as elegant as a rose perfume should be.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

It’s the closest to Cassis Rose I can find. It’s nice, simple and inexpensive. I wear it either when I want to wear it or when I want to wear perfume but don’t know what to wear. It’s much cheaper than loads of simple-and-nothing-wrong products from bigger brands. The shortcome of it is the bottle. I’m reluctant to leave it on the table and want to hide it in the drawer!

  25. :

    5 out of 5

I’m a fan of rose scents and The Body Shop is no stranger to me, as I’ve been through a bottle each of their Cassis Rose and Moroccan Rose EDTs.
Upon initial spritz, it’s a sweet, coy, and playful rose. It’s not the cloying, sugary kind of sweetness, but an innocent, inviting one that keeps you whiffing for more. It’s nicely blended in that it smells genuine enough for a rose scent yet doesn’t bore you with it. Each time I spray it I keep envisioning these little red rose petals flying in my room in a cloud of pink mist. I think it’s better than its predecessors in that it has a milky, enveloping quality in its drydown, which is still unmistakably rose.
Nonetheless, sillage is weak and it sits very close to the skin. It’s pleasantly perceptible when you’re quietly sitting by yourself in your work desk or in public transit. Otherwise, it gets overpowered and undetectable when other scents and odors pervade the air. The scents on my wrists disappear at the first hand wash. Though the scent on my other pulse points last until late afternoon. I’d like to know how it mingles with my sweat and body chemistry, but the weather’s been cold as of late.
I might consider other rose perfumes simply because of its weak sillage; otherwise, I really love it.

Doesn’t really smell like roses. It smells more fruity to me. I get complements when I wear it, but I am looking for more of a rose smell.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

There is something about several of the body shops fragrances, especially the edT versions that can easily turn stale and unpleasant on my skin. Actually it can get rather horrible. I have this one in perfume oil though, and I have absolutely no problems with that. Just friendly sweet rose, rather clean and fresh.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I bought this because I had nothing better to buy at that point of time, this perfume smells too sweet, sugary, rosy but then again it doesn’t last atall, like hardly an hour or two, by the end of the day if you smell too close, you might find a trailing smell, when you apply first its too strong, but becomes breezy soon.Anyway I am not buying another bottle because I dont like sweet smell, its not my types, wish the smell was a tad bit stronger to realize you actually wore something.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

Atlas Mountain Rose is quite airy and light. It smells fresh, sweet and feminine. Too bad it doesn’tt last long. At first, when I spray it the scent of alcohol is quite heady. After 30 minutes, this fragrance totally fades away and I think it contains too little concentration. All in all, it’s a good value for a cheap body mist.

  30. :

I tried so hard to like this perfume but it just doesn’t call out to me. Ever since sniffing Jo Malone’s Red Roses, I’ve been on the hunt for a cheaper alternative. I bought a 10ml bottle of this perfume for a very cheap price and tried wearing it several times, but each time it was just too strong for me even though I’ve only sprayed once on each of my wrist, and I wanted to wash it off right away. Eventually I gave up trying to make it work and just shelled out money for the Jo Malone Red Roses instead.

I had the fragrance mist, loved to use it during hot summer days, it was not heavy at all and really refreshing, specially when I stored it in the fridge.

i have been liking Body Shop frangrances since Moonflower. For me, body shop frangrances are all very simple and liner frangrances. Whenever my nose need a break from heavy or complicated frangrance or i need a safe non-provocative frangrances. Body shop is where i turn to.
This is slightly different from Moroccan Rose. Atlas Rose is a decent rose, a bit sour and a bit bitter.

Both the edt and the body spray smells way too green for my taste.
    Almost moldy.
Well, at least it was inexpensive. (The body spray.)

the body products such as shower gel/body lotion in this range are fantastic, and would go with a wide range of rosy perfumes.

This is identical to The Body Shop’s Moroccan Rose from a few years back!
My parents got me this for Christmas and it is a very pleasant, light and fresh rose scent. I’d say this is a safe perfume which would not offend anyone and a lot of people would like it. It seems to have a calming effect on me, and I like to spritz it before bed if I’ve just gone for a bath.

I liked it in the beginning, but after i got rose from Woods of Windsor, I found this a bit suffocating…and when i got red rose/jo malone then i do not want to wear it anymore…

The rose smells wonderful. I couldn’t stop sniffing myself when I sprayed this – until the rose resides and the other notes came in, which was just regular. But the roses! I would love something that smells like how the roses smell on the first spray.
I wish the top notes had stayed throughout.

For a rose fragrance, this is awesome. For me it smells like sugary roses.
I usually don’t like just rose fragrances. This one Was a nice surprise. I have just a little Bottle, planning on buing it in fullsize. I recommend if you like rose fragrances And even if you don’t, you might like it 🙂

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Atlas Mountain Rose is very nice: a lovely straightforward rose scent that’s kept from being boring by just the right amount of extra notes. It’s a very natural, fresh, dewy rose at heart, coated in the added juicy sweetness of citrus and amber and soft musk. Those notes enhance the rose scent in a lovely, subtle way: they make it a bit syrupy, almost candied even, but without making it any less fresh or becoming too dominant or even recognisable themselves. It’s not especially sophisticated, it doesn’t change much throughout its life span, but it does one thing very well: it’s really all about the rose, and it’s so delicious.
I was looking for a basic but interesting rose perfume, and this one definitely qualifies. I don’t think I’m done experimenting with the many different incarnations and combinations of rose in fragrance, but when it comes to pure rose I’d be surprised to find one I like better than this, especially at this price!

I happened upon this at a Body Shop at an airport. I haven’t tested the Body Shop’s perfume products in a while and generally overlook them, very much like VS or B&BW. Every once in a while I find something I really like, and it’s discontinued.
I do think the Body Shop knocked it out of the park with this one, though. It is an outstanding realistic rose fragrance; that smells like a rose garden in the morning. My father grew roses (he had over 100 hybrid teas by 1966) and I grew them as an adult for show and had 40 or so when I lived up north. I live in the deep South now, and roses get leggy in this climate and I have moved on to things that do really well down here, like gardenias.
This reminds me so much of going out in the morning to cut the blossoms and tend to them before I went to work, when the dew was still on the petals and the scent of them hung in the air.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

very light and airy, smells like when you sit in a garden full of roses and when the wind blows towards you, you catch a whiff of it. Inoffensive perfume, someone else can only smell it only if they sit close to you, so it is quite a personal perfume.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

Nice fresh rose, although the citrus is a bit sour at first. Dewy fresh picked sort of rose scent. Light, better for day time wear.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

I consider Atlas Mountain Rose to be a nearly perfect treatment of rose. A lot of the time I find rose perfumes overloaded with other ingredients that make them smell either chemical or pungent (Stella, Very Irresistible, Midnight Rose). As compared to the other “main” TBS rose scent White Smoky Rose–Atlas Mountain Rose is a purer, more “floral” rose. AMR is innocent, romantic, timeless, sophisticated and chic. I have feeling this could become my new date perfume standby.
I am really hoping that the perfume oil lasts and has good sillage because this is quite pretty and a steal. <3

Pleasant but really airy and forgetable

  47. :

I agree with Clickingpenguin here – Atlas Mountain Rose is a must-have for every rose junkie..and why not? It’s the perfect combination of fresh dewy rose and citrus notes that will make anyone around you want to be around you for longer time! I agree with all reviewers who say this is lighter, musk-free version of the Moroccan Rose fragrance. Though relatively more linear, this fragrance is all the more pleasant because of its easy affordability too!
Easily an inoffensive day-time perfume with a comfortable sillage that sits pretty close to skin. In Indian summer I’ve found it works better as a body spray than a perfume, but then I sometimes layer it with Jovan White Musk to make it more suitable for night, and that just adds much more drama to it, extending the longevity and sillage.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

Start off lovely rose and citrusy, morphs out into something else. For sure i dont like the later smell. Its kinda give me headache. Pass

  49. :

    5 out of 5

Every rose junkie should at least try this. In my opinion, it is one of the truest rose scents I’ve ever smelled. I would put it up there with Stella and Bvlgari Rose Essentielle, but it doesn’t last as long as I would like it to. Still, it’s amazing. And it’s inexpensive, so you can apply it more than once in a day without feeling like you’re spraying your money away.

I adore this scent! I tried Pacifica Persian Rose at the same time as Atlas Mountain Rose and to me Atlas Mountain Rose wins hands down. While Pacifica Persian Rose smells like old fashioned rose potpourri to my nose, Atlas Mountain Rose is a beautiful fresh smelling rose. The perfume oil lasts for quite a while on well moisturized skin and also layers well with other scents. I especially like to layer it with Lavanila Pure Vanilla.

  51. :

Pretty much a dead ringer for Roses de Chloe! Sheer, fresh roses! The longevity for this is pretty good (around 5 hours) and it sits a little close to the skin. Would make a great scent for a warm spring day.

occasionally i am guilty of cheap thrills and sometimes it pays off!
surprisingly good sheer rose scent. Upon application i get rose petals and even the green stems and i love that! smells natural enough and not perfumey or sickly sweet. it’s sillage is fresh and sparkly. the best from the line.

The Body Shop broke my heart when they discontinued Moroccan Rose. I tried on Atlas Mountain Rose this morning, expected not liking it. Yet, it stole my heart by surprise. Atlas Mountain Rose is indeed a true rose. To be precise, it’s an early morning-dew Moroccan rose. The previous TBS Moroccan Rose is deep and sensual, whereas Atlas Mountain Rose is playful and light-hearted.
Overall, it’s a lovely, feminine, refreshing, and inoffensive rose scent. I actually love it (a little bit) more than Moroccan Rose. I’m buying another this weekend just in case The Body Shop decides to discontinue it and break my heart again.

It smells very feminine on paper. Unfortunately, when I wore it, it smelled acidic and synthetic on my skin. I gave it to my sister. It smells great on her. Maybe it just doesn’t suit my body chemistry.

This fragrance doesn’t smell roses in general. I even can’t say that I feel the rose note clearly enough here. There are enough fragrances that smell roses even with a cheaper price. Fail(

As i went to The Body Shop my first target was the Japanese Cherry Blossom one. But it was so, like, dry and floral idk
Anyway, i tried the Atlas Mountain Rose, and it smelt amazing! First, i could figure out why i did like this one better, but when saw the notes it hit me! Its the citrus!
When you spray this you immitiatly get this fresh burst of citrus, and then it dries down to a fresh rose smell. Not a old fashioned rose, but a fresh, clear, one. I would defianly recommed this scent! I like it very much.

  58. :

I tested all of the scents from this new line from the Body Shop while waiting for a flight at the Charlotte Airport recently. Of all of them, I like the Atlas Mountain Rose the best. I have been looking for another rose scent that wouldn’t break the bank in my collection; and this is a very nice, realistic rose fragrance that fits that bill nicely. I already have The Perfume Factory’s Tea Rose, which is a sillage monster that is simply too much for me, and YSL Paris, which is lovely but has a lot of violet in it. This is a light, airy rose that could be worn to the office. I like the modern take on this, rose fragrances frequently have a vintage feel to them and this does not at all. It is like many Body Shop creations, rather linear, but it wore comfortably close to the skin, and I could still detect it 4 hours later. Lovely.

  59. :

    3 out of 5

This is just a beautiful true rose scent. The citrus gives it a bit of freshness and the musk gives it airiness and keeps it light and the amber is faint in the background but gives it a bit of warmth. It does smell similar to Moroccan Rose however this one is lighter and more whimsical while Moroccan Rose is spicier, darker and slightly exotic.

    update:
sorry I didn’t update earlier as I tried this weeks ago. It’s very similar to moroccan rose, only moroccan rose has that zist about it unlike this one, less musky & more fresh.

This is very close to Paul Smith “Rose” or TBS “Morrocan Rose”. But the staying power is not as good as with Paul Smith.

  65. :

I got the Atlas Mountain Rose (AMR) perfume oil expecting to be something different from Moroccan Rose, but for me, they’re too similar and it’s kind of hard to tell the difference. If you’re a fan of the now discontinued Moroccan Rose, you don’t have to worry.
And here are the notes of the AMR perfume oiI and EDT (the notes are the same for both), and I got the information from the Japanese TBS website:
TOP NOTES: Rose, floral notes, spices
    HEART NOTES: Mimose, orange
BASE NOTES: Rose, cedarwood, vanilla, musk
As you can see, the notes are too similar to the Moroccan Rose EDT. The only difference is that the discontinued one had citrus notes in it, which fades really fast.
This is a real rose, a little bit green and grassy, and the mimose is strong. The flower gives a warm feeling to the heart. It reminds me of garden party! Not soapy, not sweet, not old fashioned kind of rose.
The perfume oil is really nice. I’m impressed because it’s very powerful, the sillage is quite big. It lasts for just a couple of hours but I don’t mind it; it’s too cheap and too good already! I absolutely LOVE TBS.

I tried this on my skin today and ended up loving it. At first spray, it was one dimensional rose- very pretty and feminine, but nothing new.
However after about an hour, the rose mingles with a hint of subtle musk and you have a beautiful scent with a sort of clean laundry smell. It’s really lovely. It would be ideal for work as it smells clean and feminine but is never in your face or loud or cloying.

  68. :

For me this is a subdued version of Cartier’s So Pretty, a lost favourite of mine. The only difference I sense is the strength, and I enjoy this one quite as much.

  69. :

This is much better than morocan rose or previous rose line from TBS. I agree that is similar to Paul Smith but it is sweeter. Another my beloved rose fragrance that is so fresh, natural, dewy, and not synthetic. If you love Paul Smith Rose, you’ll love this!

Thanks Shwets, I only find the night jasmin, it smells strong, this one along with the other three still not there yet. I’ll update when I try this one out along with lily & cherry blossom as I won’t try vanilla, I found out it gives me the worst headach ever.

Not to worry Red Rose, this range is similar to Moroccan Rose but better! In London it is available in stores now.

Too bad morocan rose is being discontinued, I should warn my mother then as it’s one of her favorite 🙁
This range will hit the stores world wide in late August early septemper I guess. If this is any similar to rose the one, escada rose or paul smith rose I may give it a try.

This fragrance is available in the 100ml body mist, 50ml eau de toilette and 15ml perfume oil.
The perfume oil starts of fruity similar to the discontinued cassis rose and Moroccan Rose then dries down and remains close to the skin reminding me of the dry down of the discontined Tea rose perfume oil but not cloying and syrupy sweet. More delicate light powder rose scent unlike the lush sweet type. Reminds me of Moroccan rose without the sourness on my skin. Plus neither the perfume oil or edt irritate my nose.
Update: Morrocan Rose has been replaced with this range (UK)
