Smells exact to me, like a barbershop, though my husband didn’t think so. Cologne, oily neroli notes, sharp alcoholic tonic notes. I rather love it. Smells like a clean, freshly groomed guy.

Got a sample from sephora and while i do love the smell of this it turns sour, musty and starts smelling like old sweat on my skin – platinum egoiste also has the same effect on my skin. Not sure what note is the culprit but cant stand that smell and had to scrub it off half hour later.
That being said, this is aptly named and out of all the barbershop fragrances that i have sampled this is the closest one to a real barbershop scent. Dont let my review dissuade you from trying this because on clothes it really does smell good but i cant justify buying this for myself at retail price. Hope you guys have better luck than me

This is how I smell when I leave the barber shop and I love it! Shaving cream, spices and after shave mixed together. Leather, tonka bean and moss give it that masculine touch. It makes me feel sophisticated and elegant.

At the Barber’s was love at first sniff…and if i am being honest with myself, My love for this is probably more nostalgic than objective. This reminds me of my Dad’s bathroom sink when I was a kid, the smell of shaving soap, straight razors and old school after shaves like Aqua Velva and blue Stratos. Maison Margiela does memories and this one is certainly a time capsule for my childhood.
Upon spraying, initial notes that hit you are bright, spicy herbal mix from the orange a bit and the pepper and basil. I love this first phase, very fresh and sparkly. The Heart is all classic barbershop florals, Lavender, geranium and rosemary and this stage really lasts a good long time. After the stellar Top and heart, the base is a tad underwhelming, standard fixative musks and hints of synthetic oakmoss but it’s not a big deal to me as I think it serves it’s purpose of giving the fragrance depth and longevity.
Projection is really good for the first 2-3 hours, always get compliments when I step into the office or meet people during this phase. Longevity is a good 5-7 hours most days although it does get close to skin towards the end. Frankly I dont see how anybody can not like this unless they are allergic to one of the notes mentioned, just smells so fresh and clean and squared away so to speak. If you like frags like Penhaligons Endymion, MDCI Invasion Barbare or even good old fashioned Aqua Velva, blindly get this. A winner for me. 9/10

At the Barber’s is a woody, citrusy fragrance that recalls the relaxing memory of a classic, masculine ritual with invigorating notes of basil accord and sensorial lavender. It is reminiscent of a nostalgic barbershop from the 1950’s.
The creaking of a wooden sign swaying in the breeze welcomes you to a local barber shop. Take in the rhythmic sound of a shaving brush sliding through lavender soapsuds, and the dry friction of a straight razor brushing against a leather strap. Black pepper and rosemary invigorate your senses, clearing your mind. Feel the soft rustling of a fresh, white towel combine with the natural scent of your skin.
At the Barber’s is an aromatic, earthy, and woody fragrance that gives off the sensation of balance and purity. Cleansing and fresh, this eau de toilette fragrance resides within the ‘REPLICA’ Memories Collection—a family of scents designed to evoke personal memories that each one of us can recall.
And it is exactly that. It is a great scent and it is the absolute perfect fragrance for job interviews or working in an environment where fragrances may not be appropriate, because more or less this just smells like a clean man that cares about his hygiene. There is nothing in the least bit offensive about it.
There is a bit of a Dior Sauvage vibe here as another reviewer mentioned, but the fact is that At the Barber’s is similar but goes a very different direction makes it a winner in my books. Very long lasting with moderate projection, overall this scent is a nice surprise and full bottle worthy in my opinion. Also it’s not even that expensive for a niche fragrance. I got mine for $125.

This is a sharp sophisticated barbershop casual scent. Smells like a mans scent. A Money scent. It’ll get noticed.

I am wearing this today and I feel like a sexy, sophisticated 40yo man that just came back from getting his bald head touched up at the Barber’s.
I’m a 24yo woman, but I like the feeling nonetheless. lol
In my head, this is what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or Karamo Brown smells like. Delicious. 🙂

I cut my own hair. But everytime I do, I make sure to apply a good dose of this fragrance right after. This is the real deal, a barbershop fragrance with leather that goes beyond the aromatic fougere. It smells great, fresh, like good products from an old school barbershop.
Maison Margiela does moods and impressions and it does it well. Once again, you feel like you are there or you have been there.
It feels clean, if feels sterile, good, safe. Cold and overly fresh. Just like at the barber’s, without the razor cuts.
    Thanks for reading my review!

This was in the Replica Memory Box. It smells like shaving cream, which has zero appeal for me personally (female). Not all that interested in my fiancé wearing this, either (for the price and skin scent, he could just shave.) Maybe it changes beautifully on skin?

I purchased this frag for my boyfriend as a 30th birthday present – logic being, by age 30, one should have a high quality, versatile fragrance for daily wear. I adore this scent on him. It is clean, professional, with a touch of sweetness that is not at all cloying. It lasts all day. My boyfriend is a man who is secure in himself and appreciates the simple things in life. As such, At The Barber suits him to a tee, but I could see how it could be too simple for some.

Oh, this one is a mini-heartbreaker. It starts wonderfully, exactly evocative of a barber’s shop, in keeping with the Replica theme. A nostalgic, masculine smell.
And then it just fades. No shimmer, no new ideas, no narrative, it just (very) quickly becomes a quieter version of itself. The opening is wonderful and butch as hell, but the overall journey is short, disappointing and emasculating.
Good to put on two hours before you know you’ll shower or turn in for the night (alone). Nothing animalic or devlish to it in any way… just blue comb water, shaving cream, leather, and comfort.
Thankfully, unlike Soul of the Forest or an ELDO frag there are no unexpected sharp turns or reversals along the way. So this one’s very safe, which is both a positive and a negative. Would be killer to have around as a sample size, but prob not worth it for a full bottle…

A very clean, fresh, and rich men’s fragrance. Jazz club was a bit to dark and strong for me, but At the barbers has that scent that’s just right for a casual comfortable guy like myself. I get a lot of orange, lavender, musk, and leather. They all blend harmoniously together and the replica of a trip to the barbers is definitely there. This smells similar to shaving cream, but not synthetic and more pungent. It’s somewhat sweet, not a sugary sweet though. It doesn’t come off exactly as a barber shop, so don’t think you’ll have that smell, but it is similar but in a good way. This is my favorite from the men’s line so far.

Really fantastic traditional barbershop scent with killer longevity and projection. Absolute best of the Replica line, and I’ve tried or smelled all of them. However Pinaud Clubman and Rive Gauche (and for that matter Azzaro pour Homme or Azzaro pour Homme L’eau on the drydown) apparently smell really similar to this so perhaps it’s not full-bottle worthy. However the opening is the best part of this fragrance. The dry-down at least to my nose isn’t as great. It smells almost identical to Azzaro pour Homme. It’s barbershop lavender and anise to my nose and it’s ok but meh. Opening however is beautiful.

From a 1.5mL TPC decant. A classic, manly scent. Opens with all the rustic charm of a barber shop: barbicide, talcum powder, mousse, and manly aftershave. To me, these are so ingrained as aromas associated with a barber’s that it is tough to ferret out elements of the scent pyramid. Nice and strong for six hours, and can be smelled on the wrist for up to ten hours. Mild projection, but quite good intensity at short distances.
An accurate Replica, but at the same time fairly buttoned-down and professional. Safe for work, solid in warm and cool weather. Could become a little much with very high heat or humidity. Still searching for the right summer scent but this could be bottle-worthy! “Excellent,” 93/100.

i got a free sample of this.it’s a masculine green/aromatic fragrance. it smells like shaving cream. i’m not a man but i also find this too fresh, herbal and green for my tastes. i mostly get lavender, bitter orange, basil and rosemary. it’s very strong and gives me a bit of a headache, unfortunately.

  17. :

Wish it had more of a talcum powder scent but this is good enough for me. Very linear shaving cream vibe with a hint of lime but that’s fine by me.

I enjoy this one. Yes, I get comparisons to rive gauche, chanel platinum and mainly Azzaro pour homme. I do enjoy the barbershop catagory and am debating if this is bottle worthy. I’ll probably go with Creed Viking and Cooper Square first. Not a bad scent though in my opinion.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

Lavender, oakmoss, musk, herbs, maybe a leather somewhere in there. Old style fougere, shaving cream, barbershop fragrance. Smooth, clean; smells a bit like grandpa. Reminds me of Azzaro Pour Homme or YSL’s Rive Guache. While similar to these two it does do it’s own thing while staying in the classic, lavender based, barbershop realm.
This is a maturish “masculine” scent that’s better in cooler weather. More formal and probably okay for work. Sillage and projection felt good. Lasted about six hours on me before becoming soft. I think the bottle looks cool and I like the scent but there are many others like this. A little pricey for the average performance. Azzaro is dirt cheap but I will admit ATB is more wearable. Rive Guache (new or even vintage) can be had for around this price. Good quality frag if not a little expensive but nothing ground breaking here.

When we do a skin perfumes sequence test, the order that is made of this test influences the expectations with regard to each perfume tested. And perhaps my chronological choice was not the best to understand the Replica line, since the first 3 are very good and raise expectations with respect to the others in the line, something that unfortunately does not end up following in the 2 that follow. Not that at the moment the line has bad perfumes, but Promenade in the Gardens and At The Barbers do not enchant with their interpretations of the proposed memories.
At The Barbers has just the opposite problem found in Promenade in the Gardens. Inspired by the barbershop’s memory, it is the perfume that sounds more masculine within the line and the most literal of all, evoking the soul of classic herbaceous fougéres in a more direct way. There is no surprise in the execution of the idea, something that could bring a surprise element to what is expected to a barbershop aroma. But for those who enjoy this type of fougére perfume this one is a full plate: at the barbers makes a fine caliber between the fresh scent of lavender, the citrus nuances and the herbaceous / almondy touch of the coumarin. The herbs are used in moderation, which avoids the excess medicinal aroma in the composition. The scent of leather is more of a whisper, a smoky aroma that hides in the nuances of musk and the more modern oakmoss interpretation. It is a safe perfume, which evokes precisely the environment that its name suggests, lacking the purposeful “unfinished” aspect that is a dna of the line.

This is a extremely well crafted olfactory scent. predominately lavender and musk. My nose seems to smell the black pepper, moss and leather notes more so than most. As a child my grandmother had her own barbershop and this perfume truly dose capture the scent of the place… minus the hair.

As someone else has also mentioned, I get a strong resemblance to Chanel Platinum Egoiste. At the Barber’s is a slightly more aquatic and weaker blended version, without the astringent metallic topnote of CPE, but CPE eventually turns into something very close – and for less. Love the bottle, though.

  25. :

It’s nothing groundbreaking, and I’m glad it’s not. That’s not the point of this fragrance. It’s pure nostalgia in a bottle.
Smells a lot like Barbasol shaving cream, which is a scent I adore. I’m really drawn to this scent even though it’s classified as a men’s fragrance. I like it layered with sweet vanilla, which seems to tone down that masculine “men’s deodorant” vibe and brings out the spiciness and musk.
Definitely will give the rest of my sample to my husband, then I can enjoy it on him in all it’s glory.
Update: Gave my husband a vial of this. His first response was “It just smells like Barbasol”. He also said it smells like a lot of aftershaves and colognes. So maybe not worth the steep price tag?

Next time someone ask for a barbershop type fragrance please point them in this direction! This literally smells like you stepped out of a classic barbershop. Hints of citrus blended with aromatic lavender. Neither are heavy fairly transparent but obviously present. The fragrance mixes it up with a little peppered florals that somehow keeps it reminiscent of being at a fine barbershop. You even get a soft touch of leather in the background.i can Imagine the razor strope and the whole process from the hair cut to a professional shave. With a warm towel wrap and a splash of aftershave.
When i say this smells like a barbershop. I am being quite literal.
The scent itself lasted decently i would say average. With an arms length of sillage and projection. Just a nice clean conservative scent bubble.
    Very elegant and proper.
I have to add this was from a sample sprayer so an actual bottle may have better performance.
If you are a dapper fellow and want a certain aroma and this fits what you are looking for. I say go for it. It is a dam good smelling fragrance.

My hubby wanted a new scent for Fathers Day. A trip to Sephora was made. He has been interested in Replica for quite some time so he made a beeline for those pretty, oldtime, pharmaceutical bottles. This was the first to be sampled. In his words “smells like shaving cream. Very clean. No frills.” I must agree. A freshly showered, not overly-masculine, skin scent. Absolutely unisex. I use his old school shaving cream on my legs, so I love that smell. But alas, no dice. He went in another direction entirely. Maybe next time.

  28. :

It opens with a promising aroma of green sweetness. I think it is the notes of basil and lavender that make the opening so likable to my nose. Yes, it has a certain barbershop – shaving cream vibe!
Well, it is so unfortunate that the scent doesn’t develop that much beyond that opening on my skin. Little by little it becomes more sweat (I guess it’s Musk) to a point that is a bit too much for me. This said, the very likable aromatic smell in the beginning is still present in the dry down. I get good longevity and projection.
As the name suggests, it intends to be reminiscent of the smell of a barbershop. It is a warm-fresh aromatic scent that I think does a very good job in being exactly that. Well done Maison Martin Margiela!

I can’t say much more than has already been said – this smells JUST like warm Barbasol shave cream, a touch of Barbicide, and a wisp of talc! Mission accomplished, I’d say.
The evolution of the scent is quite impressive, it starts out like shave foam, then morphs into aftershave, and finishes clean and airy. The performance is really impressive too, it lasts about 9 hours.
This was my alternative to Dior Sauvage which just didn’t sit well on my skin. If you liked Dior Sauvage, but it was just “too much” for you, this should definitely be on your list to try! They share quite a few notes, and their scents share quite a few similarities. This does however, have an artistic quality that I think Sauvage is missing.

Granted, I’m a woman, but I think At The Barber’s is an impressive fascimile of the barber shop experience. It opens with a sharp oakmoss/Barbasol note, then a briney note that reminds me a lot of a rugged jawline, and finally a soft cinnamon and dusty lavender finish.

  31. :

I am a woman, but always find myself drawn to male fragrances. If it smells good, wear it, regardless what the bottle says! I love Tom Ford Vetiver, Eau Savage etc. I adore this scent from Maison Margiela. It is masculine, but fresh and clean. The dry down is less masculine, very powdery.
Longevity is excellent and silage is perfect i.e. I can walk into a room and it is not the first thing you notice about me. My signature scent was Armani White for Her, and it broke my heart when they discontinued it. I have been searching for the past 10 years for something to replace it, and with this, I have found it.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

This is a great homage to shaving foam right out of the can and I love it. I love barbershop style scents, and this one is a different take on it! The opening is a lavender and musk two-step that is then joined by a bit of citrus, pepper, and basil. At the mid point of this scent we finally are presented with the herbs and florals. The geranium and rosemary create a very dry cooling element to this scent, and give it its foamy, soapy edge (pun not intended, I swear). Finally we are left with a sweet tonka and leather base, dusted with a bit of musk and oak moss for good measure. This to me is a fantastic clean masculine scent. It is a tribute to not just memories of the barbershop, but memories of shaving. Like the shaving cream that your dad first slathered on your face when you used to pretend to shave along side him. To me this is a workman’s scent, and should be worn on those occasions when, “you need to get down to brass tacks”.

  33. :

This is a very masculine clean scent: like you are fresh from getting a shave and a trim at the Old Timey Barbershop with grandad.
It starts out with a shaving cream vibe that melts into powder and spice as the evening wears on. It is potent but inoffensive, smelling more clean than anything.

  34. :

This ends up smelling a lot like Montblanc Legend on me – or at least its drier, slightly more masculine cousin. There are points when I’m smelling it liking it more for being crisper and a bit fresher, and there are times when I find myself missing the pineapple and Apple notes I have gotten so used to. I don’t hate this at all – it does give that clean, freshly shaved smell, and I do think the lavender comes across as less synthetic here than it is in Montblanc. But, I’m not going to be getting a full bottle any time soon, as it still is too similar for me while I’ve got over half of a bottle of Legend left to finish.

  35. :

A very likable scent to wear at work, non- offensive with a clean barber shop vibe. Not groundbreaking but if you are looking for a great all around friendly fragrance to wear around people At the Barber’s fits the bill.
    Sample if you can.

Yes, smells like an old fashion barber shop. So at first I said: wow, it really does smell like a barber shop!
But then I thought: wait a minute… Am I falling for the simple premise?
Because At the barber’s is a classic and quite simple fragrance. Nothing groundbreaking or unique. Basically a clean and fresh aromatic cologne.
Still, I like it. Not sure if because it ticks my melancholy bringing back memories of aftershaves or Saturdays at the hair salon with my father and brother waiting each turn to get a haircut.
Anyways, people who tried this fragrance seem to like it. I like it too but still not committed ed to it.

    ITS FANTASTIC!

Working my way through this series and they never fail to astonish. It’s genius how these are produced because as time lapses you get hit after hit of reminiscence and nostalgia. A long ago sometimes fleeting fond memory of being so small I had to sit on a plank in the barbers chair is now cemented forever as long as this perfume exists. One waft of this and I feel the rough tissue flapping round my neck, that weird but final puff of powder semi cooling my razored neck, the tiny itching hairs as I put my little coat on and the relief of entering the cold street and hating what that man had done to me. Haircuts were forced on kids at the age of 10.

At The Barber by Maison Martin Margiela- I am an enthusiastic fan of the Replica series. I love what they are doing. It is brilliant and nothing excites me more than experiencing a fragrance that conjures memories of Places, and era, an object or events. At The Barber really does capture the full experience of going to a barber shop, from having your face lathered with shaving cream, splashed with after shave, your hair spritzed before the cut, and the powders. The scent of the leather chairs warmed by hundreds of men who sat before you. The entire experience is captured here in this perfume even the inescapable musky aroma of thousands of men. The barber shop is a purely masculine place.
Rosemary really soars for me in this fragrance as does Lavender. I love the scent of Basil, it lends an herbal crispness that restrains bitter orange’s citrus snap. This herbal restraint on citrus allows pepper and moss to come through for the airy, powdery part of the barber experience. As the sharp cut of rosemary and lavender mellows, but never disappears, it makes way for the masculine aspects of Musk, Leather and Tonka to finish off this exotic fragrant ride into The Barber Shop. They even captured the scent of the hot metal of the clippers that clean up the neck area, my favorite part of the barber experience as the vibrating blades ride against the neck sending relaxing waves of tingling bliss into the brain resulting in sighs of restful pleasure.
I love this perfume, what an amazing journey. Beautifully crafted, I love the notes and the blends. I anticipate what they will come up with next.
Again, thanks to Moonsparrow for sharing this one with me. You have such exquisite taste in perfume.
Sillage is Heavy. Longevity is 12 plus hours.
At The Barber by Maison Martin Margiela- Extended applause and Standing Ovation-Amazing achievement in the capture of Place.

It has become very apparent that fragrantica members do not understand the Replica collection of fragrances. They are meant to evoke a place or activity. The opening, initial drydown and longer wear change ON PURPOSE. These are olfactory journeys, and the notes that appear and disappear over time is intentional. If you’re basic and all you want is a straight up perfume or cologne, you never should have bought these.
This fragrance starts out with a strong shaving cream scent. Fresh, minty, spicy and masculine. This is how a barber shop visit begins. The initial drydown turns to a spicy aftershave as the service at a barber shop would continue. It’s long-term aroma is of male-scented talcum powder with lingering aftershave, as you would experience after your haircut.
I almost never wear male fragrances, and I am absolutely obsessed with this scent. It is masculine, refined and sexy.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

A disappointment for me. I love classic barbershop-esque fragrances (Eau Sauvage, Habit Rouge, Caron Pour un Homme, Old Spice, Pinaud Clubman) and this lacks their character, inasmuch as it does not embrace as dynamic an axis as any of these. It has always been my opinion that the dynamism of most traditional barbershop fragrances is from intensely, almost medicinally, fresh to floral charm to a mix of powder and woods that complement rather than cover up the underlying warmth of the body. These contrasts are bracing, speaking of hygienic freshness, but also warm and affable.
On paper, this came across as a bit like a streamlined and smoothed out Rive Gauche Pour Homme, but on skin (a full wearing) a dense, synthetic musk redolent of the cosmetics counter at Sephora came on strong and by one to two hours in had overpowered whatever else was going on (some nice albeit short lived geranium and vetiver notes mostly.) This musk then just kind of sat there, sending relentless copy/paste messages to my brain regarding middle-class normalcy for the next hour and the next, and the next… I really do not understand the point of a product like this. It just smells like some sort of post-industrial notion of safety: not stimulating, not bracing, not uplifting, not reassuring, and, for me anyway, not really especially attractive. It is “safe” (security as a passive rather than an active state of mind) but is it truly tasteful, as in, does it have a taste? It is important at times like these to remember that taste is something made by and for humans, and should entail risk in proportion to reward.

  43. :

Smells very old fashioned. Powdery lavender and minty citrus.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

In the beginning, this smells like Barbasol shaving cream mixed with old spice after shave. In the end it becomes a rich, warm, masculine scent as the lavender and leather become more prominent. I really like the dry down a lot but the top notes come across a little like a cheap aftershave.
It lasts a really long time on me. I can still smell it as a skin scent the next day. With just a few sprays, the sillage is rather robust and can strike out from a distance if you overspray.
Overall, I like this scent. I think it accomplishes its goal of smelling like the barbershop, and you only have to use a couple of sprays to get a lot of lasting power..

  45. :

    4 out of 5

This is a straight forward barbershop. It is reminiscent of shaving cream, talc, and classic aftershave blended together to bring back that nostalgic barbershop vibe. And it is exactly that. Its a great scent, but be careful on the trigger. If you over spray it can be cloying.
I love this for a scent of just hanging around and running errands and people do react well to it and njoy the scent.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

Aptly named, this is the smell of a barbershop, so you have to imagine what the smell would be when you enter the room – a bit of shaving cream, a slight bit of powder, a bit of alum and a bit of leather, a bit of dust. If you can imagine that, you’ll understand what this fragrance smells like.
Make no mistake – this isn’t a barbershop “style” fragrance, it’s the physical smell of an actual barbershop.
This is one of the few fragrances that have ever made me physically nauseous after putting it on. I think the alum note may have been the culprit.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

Tried this today, and it smelled exactly like I imagined it would. Because of that, I say this fragrance did what it was supposed to accomplish. Think of a barbershop fragrance, and this is what you’ll get. You won’t be disappointed if you’re seeking out a barbershop fragrance.

  48. :

Where the heck are all the dislike votes coming from? I’m shocked to be honest, this stuff smells great and I think you’d have a hard time finding many people that disagree with that.
Definite Rive Gauche vibe here which is fine with me, as that is one of the greatest scents of all time. The fact that this is similar but goes a different direction makes it a winner in my books. Moderate to long lasting with moderate projection, overall this scent is a nice surprise!

  49. :

    5 out of 5

Opens with crisp citrus and aromatic lavender and herbs, At The Barber’s then becomes more woody and sweeter as it dries down, and eventually settles as a sweet clean musk.
At first glance, At The Barber’s is a conventional aftershave-type fragrance, which is not my favourite genre. However, it smells surprisingly pleasant to my nose, as it’s clean and soapy but not excessively so; the tonka bean adds warmth and sweetness but no where near as dreadfully heavy-handed as a few modern male fragrances.
The sillage is relatively soft and longevity is around 8 hours. As an aromatic fragrance, At The Barber’s is quite simple in structure, but it’s also very smooth. I’d recommend it as a fresh, clean fragrance for everyday use.

‘At the barbers shop’ is a perfectly named fragrance (unlike many these days) I was expecting clean, herbal, green soap and leathery aromatic goodness and that’s exactly what I got.
The opening is slightly sharp and fresh with a hint of citrus perhaps then lavender and basil. The heart and base is a milky, soapy talcum, musk and geranium type vibe.
It Smells very familiar almost comforting and dries down to a masculine clean leathery scent on my skin. Can’t go wrong really. No innovation here though perhaps this scent could do with a few more notes? Maybe I’m missing the point? I don’t think this fragrance is intended to be special, it’s functional and practical like the branding and feel of all the scents from this house.
Simplicity is the key here and it works.
Could of done with slightly better performance considering this is a niche brand, and although not expensive for 100ml, it’s still slightly lacking.
I can’t fault this one overall though, it’s just for men who know what they want… a nice shave, soap fragrance.

I smelled this at Sephora this morning and bought it on the spot. If I had to put it in simplest terms it’s a leathery soapy smell. It’s light and fresh and lasts a surprisingly long time. I find that it bears a striking resemblance to John Varvatos’ Artisan Acqua. It’s a pretty striking similarity at first and then it turns into a classic as time wears on. I LOVE this stuff and it’s definitely going to be my go-to for summer weather…provided summer ever arrives here in CO.
    😉
And, I’ll add that the tagline #smellslikememories in this case is entirely appropriate: straight out of the bottle it immediately took me back to my visit to an old school barbershop in Milan in 2001: happy, happy memories and I have NEVER received a better haircut or shave than I did at this classic barbershop. 🙂

Tried in Singapore, smells almost identical to Chanel Platinum Egoiste!! I get lavender, geranium, musk, basil and maybe rosemary. It smells like shaving soap/cream used in a barber shop. It is very soft and soapy and is definitely nothing new. Not worth $125 when Platinum Egoiste is only $89 and has better performance then At the Barber’s.

I tried it a couple of days ago at Sephora, this and Jazz Club, that’s Whiskey-Cigarry. If not for the price tag ($125) I would have picked a bottle immediately. In fact, both of them, although I prefer this one to the other. Top-notch perfume. Yes, that deluxe shaving cream feel. I would be bringing this perfume each time I go to my hairdresser. Seriously. I could feel a lot of lavender and musk there, and that went really good together.

I was expecting a rive gauche vibe but this is nothing like it. It has this creamy soap vibe and it’s very soft. I’ve never personally used a shaving soap but I think that was the intent of this fragrance, to simulate shaving soap.
On my skin, it smells like I just showered using a plain old soap. It is a good fragrance but nothing ground breaking, in my honest opinion. It is very inoffensive so it’s a great office scent. It doesn’t project and it l
