This is marketed as unisex, but it is definitely feminine to my nose. I love unisex fragrances, but I would feel very uncomfortable wearing this in public.
It is one of the most beautiful scents I have ever smelled. It is very flowery, clean, fresh and airy. It is also one of the most expensive smelling fragrances I have ever smelled. This is the case for any MFK fragrance. They all smell like liquid diamonds.
This is definitely for women 25 and up. It is a very sophisticated scent and not very suitable to be worn casually. I can imagine if you are a woman and would wear this to a wedding, formal dinner or event, you will be the centre of attention.
When I smell this, I see a very beautiful woman in a long white dress. This is the scent of an angel.

Citrus, flowers and musk. A great fragrance to keep you feeling fresh all day, because it lasts all day. Can be worn to office, I know I do. Leans towards feminine. Great longevity for a citrus, fresh summer perfume, eight to ten hours on me. I like this best of all the MFK perfumes that I have smelled.

Ridiculously refreshing on a hot summer day.
Unusual for a citrus perfume to manage such wonderful longevity and sillage!
Citrus is present and dominant the entire time, which I dig. In the beginning it’s sharper and more prominent.
During the drydown, the flowers and musk start to appear and thus Aqua Universalis Forte enters clean, soapy territories.
I certainly don’t mind! I’m having a bit of a love affair with MFK fragrances at the moment…

    “Fresh, Clean, and Crisp”
I have always struggled with summer fragrances because they are typically boring or have lower longevity.
Likes of Xerjoff 1861 Renaissance and Amouage Reflection have solved the problem, but they are not suitable for daily office use as much as I love them.
They are too sophisticated, or still have ingredients that give them a little attitude.
They are like driving a Ferrari to Walmart for grocery shopping, and just don’t seem to work in the environment I work at.
Aqua Universalis Forte has been a great solution, and it is a pleasant departure from the usual summery fragrances.
It is extremely crisp, fresh, and clean, but not boring. It smells great, but not too complex. It has a decent sileage but not piercing. It gets attention, but doesn’t suffocate.
The opening gives a blast of florals and citrus, and it pretty much stays the same until the end. It has some soft musk and woods in it, but not noticeable until the dry down. The dry down stays close to the skin.
It just feels so good to take a morning shower, spray Aqua Universalis Forte, and go to work.
Two things to keep in mind:
First, some men don’t like floral scents because they think it is feminine. If you are one of those guys, stay a way from it.
Second, the retail price of $275 USD is not justified for Aqua Universalis Forte in my opinion. It is really nice, but not $275 nice for a 2.4 oz. bottle. How lucky I was to find it for $145 USD.

I acquired this late last spring and wore it a lot last summer. Now I can’t imagine a summer without this one. I start work really early some days (5.30 am) and this fragrance wakes me up, puts a smile on my face and makes me happy. That’s a pretty good way to start your day, wouldn’t you agree? It’s fresh and clean, but not soapy. This is what I reach for during the hottest days of summer.

What can I honestly say about this perfume that hasn’t already been said? For a review of the notes look below. The personality of this perfume is classy, expensive, but also effortless. It’s what I would expect Carey Grant to smell like back in the day. I picture a man or a woman in beautiful Valentino suit, but with no tie and a crisp white fresh shirt. It’s just an impeccable composition by Francis Kurkdjian. I will have to get a bottle of this.

Wearing an MFK sample and I like this much better than the EDT, primarily because it’s lasting longer. Forte has a more pronounced white floral, which smells like Lily of the Valley. The citrus notes are here and they pack a punch. Forte lasted 8+ hours on me, remarkable for a citrus forward perfume.
Someone below said “this must be what the towels smell like in heaven”, and I think that statement sums up this perfume perfectly.

İlk sıktığınız an limon ve beyaz çiçekler sizi karşılıyor.

How many people have I recommended this too now? I’ve lost count. I mean, sure I do have a crush on Francis Kurkdjian (look him up! you will too!) but this fragrance is so quality. Another reviewer called this “what the towels in heaven smell like” and that’s accurate. This is actually a jasmine (or possibly lily of the valley?) perfume upfront, with the lemon note peeking in and out of the bouquet. So dewy. It makes me think of getting out of the shower and feeling the summer breeze through the window as you dress. This is a high end fragrance, the price is out of most people’s range but if you get lucky enough to have it, you will know heaven. A soapy and sweet musk that more hints at lemon than actually being a lemon.

I prefer Aqua Universalis Forte just that teensy-tiny bit more than the original Aqua Universalis. When Francis Kurkdjian created this fragrance, he intended for it to be a “denser” version of the original featuring a “new bergamot presented to him by a grower from Calabria in Italy”.
In addition to this fragrance being richer, I also find it sweeter. Francis Kurkdjian has swapped out the dominant orange blossom accord from the original and replaced it with a sweet, dew-kissed jasmine note. The musk note is also not quite as laundry-esque as the original, making the drydown much smoother.
Aqua Universalis Forte is intended to be worn as a Spring and Summer scent, however, you could get away with wearing it all year round. Although I have many more scents from Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s range still to try, Aqua Universalis Forte is my favourite so far.
I am honestly surprised to see this scent marketed as unisex, as I find it to be quite feminine. Had the cedar accord been stronger, it may have shifted this fragrance into more masculine territory.
The longevity and projection I get from this fragrance is superb. This is another reason why I prefer Aqua Universalis Forte to its predecessor Aqua Universalis; it comes in an eau de parfum concentration as opposed to a lighter eau de toilette.

Initially, it is floral with some citrusy notes in it but then it becomes really natural and beautiful. I would use this one during the whole year no matter how the weather is. Really fantastic! It is a safe blind buy and I highly recommend it to any man who is confident enough to let their citrusy macho designer perfumes stay untouched in the shelf.

The most expensive soap you’ve ever smelled here. It leans on the feminine side but its unisex enough to wear for me. The main reason I love this one is because it lasts forever for a clean, soapy fragrance. The florals in this one really hang on for a long time. This is probably the ultimate “right out of the shower” scent.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

Aqua Universalis Forte, this fragrance leaves me with a mixed impression. The white florals are definitely on centre stage, overtaking the other notes, the citruses are quite faint after the opening dies down. Now, the florals remind me of three different things: 1. Fancy feminine soap. It smells so clean and pretty that I could only see a woman wearing this, very feminine. 2. Some white water lilies at a lake from my childhood, good memories. 3. This is where it puts me off. The same white florals that remind me of soap and lilies also remind me of funerals. Indeed, white florals are popular in funeral bouquets. That is definitely not something I would like to smell as. If these white flowers were synthetic, then it would smell like a bathroom. So, personally for me, white flowers are a no-no. Also, I do not see how people mark this fragrance with heavy sillage as for me it sits quite close to the skin (though it lasts for a long time). Other than those two factors, this fragrance is definitely worth checking out. It smells very natural and does not burn your nose, not even from the start. It is the epitome of a smooth fragrance. It is masterfully blended by Mr. Kurkdjian, and even though it does not fit me, it might fit you. Do check it out, it will not disappoint you.

A drop on your shirt can last a week if unwashrd. On skin its 2 days. The basenotes push this unisex perfume to the feminine side. And the weak top notes cannot kick the heart of the perfume. All I can smell is the high quality jasmine and rose.

This fragrance is exactly as described above: floral woody musk. The bergamot opening dissipates quickly and we are left with beautiful flowers (mostly lily of the valley, but also some soft rose and jasmine). Then the drydown is greenish and musky. This is really a universal scent for any occassion, and completely unisex.

There’s not much I can add that hasn’t been said already, other than my own experience of this fragrance. I absolutely love the original Aqua Universalis and it is this fragrance that introduced me to the MFK line of perfumes.
Forte is indeed a stronger version of the original with excellent longevity, coupled with just the right level of projection, so no qualms from me on performance. However, the addition of the rose not only pushes this towards the feminine side, in my opinion, it also alters the composition so that the citruses are less noticeable and the beautiful lily-of-the-valley is diminished.
To be honest, I’m not a lover of rose anyway. I find it ‘old fashioned’ in many fragrances; probably as a result of smelling rose scented toiletries at my Nan’s when I was a kid! So perhaps my assessment is unfair but how I wish Mr Kurkdjian had chosen something other than rose to flesh out this composition. Interestingly, the rose note is listed as the least noticeable in the votes above, yet I detect it quite strongly throughout the life of the fragrance.
As one reviewer has already noted, this does rather feel as though it’s trying too hard especially as the original is just so fresh and lovely and gives me everything I need. However, these are only my personal preferences and there’s no doubting that AUF is a fine fragrance with great performance.

Finally! A beautifully clean, fresh, un-cloying citrus which lasts for AGES. I’m not a big white flowers fan but can’t deny that in this, their edges round off and extend the life of the sparkly, bright bergamot and lemon. Utterly unisex and inexhaustibly refreshing. The scent counterpart of a crisp, freshly laundered linen. It’s pricy but not unreasonably so, IMHO, given the longevity – as a HUGE fan of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, I might well never buy the TF again and go for this instead. If citrus is your thing, you must try this.

    Scent – bergamot & musk.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
Projection – I did get noticed, it garners compliments.
    Longevity – I get 24hrs consistently.

Smells fresh, clean and utterly nondescript. It’s a nice crisp white shirtey cologney scent with a bit of sourness and a sharp white floral edge. Unisex, but not unisexy. There’s a difference.

I tried Aqua Universalis Forte today the opening was really pleasant reminded me of something my mom would spritz my clothes with as a kid for special occasions which is great cause I’m a sucker for anything nostalgic. The mid however was a big let down outta of nowhere came this harsh grassy note that smelled like hair removal cream really nasty to my nose. After about 4 hours that awful note dissipates. The base smelled like expensive shampoo simple and clean. Both longevity and projection were excellent. It was nice to get that nostalgic feeling even if it was just for a short period of time.

  23. :

    5 out of 5

Please regard this as an addendum to my review of the original Aqua Universalis, rather than a standalone analysis.
Forte is indeed a stronger scent than its predecessor, thanks to the laundry detergent accord of citrus and musk being turned right up. Unfortunately, the heavier musk and white florals have obliterated any trace of lily of the valley, which was the stand-out note in the original. The trade-off wouldn’t be too bad if performance was considerably better, but sadly, on my skin, Forte lasts only mildly longer than the original. I’d skip this scent and pick up Aqua Universalis instead.

Very strong, on test card it smells really nice, but once I tried it on my skin and it literally smells like urine!!!! I’m a big fan of this house, however this one really impressed me in a bad way. I only sprayed little on the back of my hand, I couldn’t Waite that borrowed facial wipes from my friend to wipe it off after 15 minutes! Very unpleasant smell, especially when you smell it from very close ..

Acqua Universalis Forte is a superb summer fragrance that get the job done!
It’s everything and more of all summer fragrance would like to be. It’s white floral, citrusy and musky and it gives a sensation of cleaning, refreshing and “just took a shower” vibe that it’s amazing and perfect!
It’s a strong one, also lingers on my skin and projects pretty well for a summer frag! Big thumbs up for AUF!

Wonderfully clean, smooth and long lasting blend of fresh citruses, beautifully soft and lush white flowers, and squeaky clean musk; perhaps not very original, but the superb quality of everything in this perfume makes it absolutely divine!

aqua universalis forte opens with a natural citrus accord, tart juicy lemon and bergamot add a summery fresh vibe to the scent,I usually don’t like citrus dominant fragrances but this one is pleasant
citrus notes linger till the end but in a less juicy, less dominant form..as it opens it’s floral heart,Citrus notes add a lovely bitter edge to white florals, middle notes lean toward feminity just as the opening but I really liked the opening part, though I find nothing unique in the middle notes and dry down, combination of citrus, florals, musk and woods has been done millions of times before,I don’t mean I dislike it or it’s bad.it’s nice smelling, pleasant, clean and refreshing,a very good summer scent,But there is nothing here to convince me I can’t find a similar scent with much more reasonable price
there is not much differance in the drydown, musky jasmin with a lemony undertone.good point is it’s longlasting and projection is acceptable for a summery scent
if it was less expensive,I would buy it for sure because it’s one of rare lemony fragrances I enjoy
    ❤️❤️❤️

UPDATE: After buying the Universalis & Universalis Forte versions some 2 years ag[o [and still having them in my collection], I recently got my nose on Comme Des Garcons’ {The Series}: Lily…. If you like Aqua Universalis Forte- you will absolutely do cartwheels over the CDG composition…. Yet another clean, rich, bright and lush white floral, reminiscent of those childhood days playing in the backyard with clean, crisp white linen blowing on a cool summer afternoon….! IMHO, the CDG offering takes the composition to a whole different level in sillage, longevity and projection…. For all lovers of AUF- don’t overthink it. Just go out and blind buy this right now!!!

Very interesting fragrance, in both good ways and bad ways. Here is a summary of the sequence of events that occurred after receiving this fragrance in the mail.
I started out by spraying this on my upper wrist at around 6 pm. Immediately I hated the scent. The opening is just so harsh and extreme. The citrus note is just….put simply…BAD. It is like putting your nose to a lemon scented Lysol wipe. Just overpowering, and almost stinging to the nose. So after realizing that I hate the scent, I went to the sink and washed it off with water and a paper towel, scrubbing pretty hard. It was still there….so I figured…oh well…it will just wear off.
The next day, I woke up at 6 am and could still smell it going strong my my wrist (12 hours later). But the fragrance had completely changed! At this point it smelled great! That nasty citrus was gone and it really just smells like 100% pure jasmine after dried down…pretty feminine smelling at this point though.
So then I took a shower, thoroughly soaping as I always do, and went to work. Around noon I smelled my wrist and could STILL smell the jasmine very strong – just as I did at 6am. By around 4pm, it had faded to a skin scent and was completely gone around 5pm. So basically….THIS LASTS 24 HOURS!
I have never had a fragrance with such phenomenal performance. It lasted 24 hours, despite even taking a shower and trying to wash it off! I just wish I liked the scent more.
    Scent (Opening): 2/10
    Scent (Dry Down): 7/10
    Longevity: 20/10 🙂
Update: wore this today and was told i smell like a cleaning product. Thats not good! :/

Juicy bergamot out the gate with a bunch of fresh florals. Has an aromatic quality that keeps it from getting too sweet; a fabulous summer fragrance. As it dries down becomes soapy, almost shampoo-like. Light and airy but sophisticated. At it’s price I’m not sure I need this for my collection, especially considering that it fades to a skinscent on me in less than an hour, but I’m happy to have a decant.

  32. :

This is an extreme version of the original Aqua Universalis with white florals added and stronger. This starts out right down the middle unisex burnt feel the dry down leans more masculine. Definitely adding his to my spring/summer rotation.

    First test (just arrived):
Citrus but I smell more of a orange peel. It becomes soapy with the minute. The flowers, magnolia?,come through the citrus notes. I can’t smell the jasmine in particularly. It is like smashing orange tree leaves between the fingers, green and almost with a sweet undertone. It reminds me Brazil, me and the other kids playing under the orange trees. It’s clean, fresh and oh oh I like it. It is expensive but I want it. It is unisex, spring and summer together. Maybe more for the masculine side, but I don’t care. The best citrus fragance I smelled so far.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

A unique scent. Listed as unisex, to me seems to be more masculine. Upon application what stands out is the bergamot and lemon. Once it begins to dry, the lily of the valley, orange and white flower bouquet take over, becoming softer. It’s not terribly long-lasting (a shame), but it is a nice juice if you are looking for something unique and different.

In comparison to the original ‘Aqua Universalis’, both sillage and longevity are improved by this ‘eau de parfum’ concentration, becoming heavier and more long lasting respectively (it certainly extends the life of the fragrance on the skin). Perfect to be worn during the warmer months of the year, it carries the ability to transform into something especially sexy on a humid summer night. The added floral absolutes definitely lean this fragrance more toward the feminine side of the gender spectrum, away from the original’s unisex categorization. Certainly both men and women can and should enjoy this fragrance, it is just my opinion that some men may find the overtly floral heart too feminine to wear confidently. To conclude, I am actually partial to this fragrance’s earlier rendering, ‘Aqua Universalis’, despite the higher concentration of the “forte” blending. The additional floral notes in ‘Aqua Universalis forte’, however captivating and intriguing, give a redolent sweetness which is subjectively too exuberant for my tastes. Imagine an adolescent girl attempting to outshine her older sister but failing miserably due to excess; perhaps sometimes less is more.

This is the guy that revolutionized the designer fragrance game when he introduced us to Le Male back in 1995! Acqua Universalis Forte is one of my very favourite frags in my collection. In fact, currently it ranks number 3 overall (Niche/Design)….. Here’s an interesting tidbit: I’ve read that this was one of the concepts that Francis Kurkdjian had pitched to the creative directors at Giorgio Armani for Aqua Di Gio…… Thankfully for him and for myself, it lost out to what is NOW Aqua Di Gio; and thus, he released it later on under his private House (Acqua Universalis Forte)…..
IMAGINE: Stretched out in your Cabana or lawn chair in your backyard on a cool late spring-mid summer afternoon….. There is a gentle cool breeze blowing and there are beautiful whites hanging on a clothesline very close to you, projecting the most amazing/refreshing high-end fabric softener so appealing to your nose……you like? Well, this is Acqua Universalis a Forte to the Nth degree!!!
Right off the bat you get a powerful, yet not overwhelming blast of sweet, citrusy lemon. Right away, it is followed by a soft, uplifting Jasmine/Rose combination…. For me, this is pretty much what you’ll get throughout the entire duration of the fragrance…. Sweet, crisp clean linen is what you get. Even when the fragrance has completely left your skin, you’ll simply get a soft Woody, musky scent….
Sprays: I go 4-6 sprays… (2on the chest, 2 on the neck and one at the top of the head). This might sound a bit outrageous to some of you, but although this fragrance is somewhat heavy;ironically, it doesn’t project all that well. What I found truly unique about this (few fragrances have in common is): while the projection is not that great, meaning it won’t put anyone on blast or grab anyone’s attention, it DOES HAVE excellent sillage… People will notice it, they will like it and they will know you’ve been there (kinda like “who was THAT”?)
LONGEVITY: 6-8 Hrs. I don’t even count the drydown because once it starts to dry down its basically left your skin and is reduced to just a very soft woody musk….
OCCASION: Smart casual, an afternoon or early evening date….. At a party, engagement bash.., etc!!!
SEASON: Summer for me BIG TIME! Yes you can wear it during the spring and early fall, but trust me when I say this baby really sparkles brightly during those hot, humid summer days when you need that little something to perk you up. In this respect, A.U.F is very uplifting, very invigorating. It’s like a bright light!!!
CAVEAT: If your a guy that is truly confident in his own skin & sexuality, you will pull this off in a fabulous way. If you’re the type that is skiddish about wearing florals, then I suggest you STAY CLEAR!!! Not to worry, all is not lost, because thankfully in his discerning tastes, Francis Kurkdjian has also created Aqua Universalis (drop the Forte), which is almost identical less that floral note that might be a bit awkward/unneasy for some… When you study the note breakdowns…., it’s that Jasmine/Rose composition that may scare some of you men and perhaps leaving you feeling: “too feminine for me”!
CONCLUSION: while it may not knock everyone’s socks off I give this frag an overall A-A+ or 9.5/10. I LOVE this scent! It Very bright, very invigorating, and it is very unique in that as a CITRUS in that it remains SHINY during its ENTIRE duration…. Only one other citrus or Aqua type scent approaches that level of performance for me right now and it is Bergamote22 by Le Labo… This is EXACTLY WHY it’s number 3 overall in my collection! Bravo Francis 🙂

I don’t know if this fragrance is worth the price tag, BUT the experience of wearing it is absolutely priceless.
I know it’s just a citrus fragrance like many others on the market, typical top notes, clean, standard pyramid… So why doesn’t it FEEL like every other warm weather ‘fresh’fragrance?
    Because it’s not,
    and my nose knows it.
The white florals infused into this, the Forte and much more feminine flanker, are not just any white floral, they are Francis Kurkdjian white florals! By definition they are heavenly and give this creation wings. The citrus is gently sweetened by the white florals, an angelic sweetness, innocent and pure. The musk is clean, the wood soft, both hiding their magic behind a casual presentation and simplicity of structure.
I’m in heaven with Acqua Universalis Forte….. wearing the fragrance of angels.

I laughed out loud when I applied this tester – it is an ever-so-slightly more complex Shiseido Energizing Fragrance, and that complexity fades into outright mimicry in a matter of minutes. If you love this perfume but cannot justify the price, go to your nearest Macy’s or Nordstrom and try Energizing Fragrance. I may have just saved you about $175.

When I first encountered Acqua Universalis Forte I thought, hmm that’s nice but what’s with the price tag? I tried it on a couple of times and became more enamored with the scent. My husband sniffed it and he really liked on me as well. He surprised me with it one day so I didn’t have to wrestle with whether it was worth the price or not. It was a gift and I loved it. I started wearing it to work. I am a nurse, I wear dreary grey scrubs and smelling nice (but not overpowering)- is a saving grace during a 12 hour day. I find that this is a very comforting and lovely perfume! I don’t think this is a date night or fun with the girls type of fragrance either. It is very elegant. The perfume lasts and lasts. In the middle of the day when my make up is no longer fresh and every hair may not be in its place, people will look at me and exclaim, “You smell GOOD!” That makes me smile. I have earned a reputation at work for smelling good. People are always asking what I am wearing, but because the title is a mouthful and the price tag is a bit out of reach, no one I know will smell like this. Therefore, it is my signature day scent. The quality and composition of this perfume is very apparent! My bottle is running low a little over a year later. I will definitely be purchasing and enjoying this fragrance for a very long time.
Note on the unisex aspect- personally I do find this scent leaning more fem than masculine. Of course that is all relative, but as others have mentioned a similiarity to Le Labo Bergamot 22, I agree. I love bergamot 22 and it smells delicious on my husband! Either scent would be appropriate for a man or woman, but generally speaking that is my opinion on the scents.

Aqua Univeralis Forte is one of those scents that lands firmly in the unisex category. It is floral and fresh, and offers huge sillage.
Make no mistake, gentlemen – you can pull this off. On a man, Aqua Universalis Forte simply smells clean and rather expensive.
Be different, and wear this one with confidence.

Not in agreement with the femme related comments. I smell the woods, citrus and musk more than I ever do the floral. Perhaps that skin chemistry bs is true after all. The soft florals are gone when approaching the 3 hour mark. A fresh, woody, citrusy drydown remains.
This piece gives a uplifting feeling. Like smelling freshly washed and dryed clothes. It’s ok. Safe scent category.

Not dig in this one at all…very femme floral oms. I think I would enjoy this on my wife but its a real contrast to my persona…I do really enjoy the EDT version quite a bit…I never realized there was such a contrast. Maybe his and hers purchase?! lol

This smells very “luxury,” which is to say that it smells like not much at all. I didn’t really notice any citrus notes, and the floral notes are very nice but they dissipate quickly. After one very pleasant hour, you’re left with just a skin scent of white musk, at which I can only shrug my shoulders. There are dozens of fragrances that smell exactly like this that aren’t this expensive.

This smells like the original Aqua Universalis except Forte has a minty toothpaste vibe to it. Think original Aqua Universlis sprayed in your mouth after you brushed with Colgate Wintergreen toothpaste…exhale and smell your breath and this is what Aqua Universlis Forte smells like. I prefer the original edt version.

Having worn this fragrance today despite my initial skepticism about it not being manly enough for me…the quality and skilled composition of aqua universalis simply shines though and over 18 hours of pure delight on my skin. Thi
