As some reviewers have said, it’s a non-scent, scent, which works almost as a second skin… if your second skin suddenly becomes a freshly printed magazine. Does it feel entirely synthetic? Perhaps. Musky? Absolutely, but a very clean – squeaky, chemically cleansed – musk.
I’m not a big Le Labo fan, though they have some intriguing offerings. This being my favorite right now.
Completely versatile and straightforward, there’s no evolution, but it never bores. It feels modern and exactly what a company called Le Labo should put forward more often. It might not be for noses that prefer old fashioned fragrances – which is their loss.
I’m interested in layering this… and someday I might, except I just love it too much on its own.

This smells absolutely revolting to me.
It disturbs me to my core.
To the point where I smelled it on someone at a party recently, and had to immediately leave the room.
I don’t know why! It feels like knives in my nose and sinus! Literally knives, jabbing up through my nostrils and into my head. It’s violent. Puts really bad, really horrifying images in my head. It smells like shiny metal. Someone screeching their nails across a surgical table.
All I gather from this fragrance is synthetics. An absolute scrubber for me.

I’ll use up my sample! It’s airy & sheer, a nice blend of woods, spice & citrus. It reminds me of a watered down Theorema, but only when first applied. Warm and slightly animalic but super light. The flavors blend and smooth out fast and “Another 13” becomes a salty delicious skin scent.
Try if you like Theorema, Habit Rouge, or spicy ambers and want to wear something that’s a whisper of that.. something for the office or a hot summer day.
It also reminds me of driftwood, being a clean scent with wood and salt.

    “Clean to the Core”
What does it smell like? Yes, the resemblance is there…of a brand new magazine taken out of the plastic and opened for the first time … But, it is so much more than that. I use this fragrance so much….primarily in the warm weather because I never get bored with it and it is by far one of the most complimented scents that I currently own. If you are a fan of Molecule 01, Molecule 02, Not a Perfume, Eau Mage, and some noteworthy scents from the avante garde house of Comme des Garcons like Synthetic Series 6: Dry Clean, Odeur 53 and Odeur 71. The Iso E Super/Ambroxan combination is really pushed to the max. The cleanliness can be described as such: “sterile”, “clean pool water”, metallic, salty-sweet, velvety, and incredibly smooth ….NOT clean like laundry….or fresh cotton. I’ve never encountered any complaints. It projects and lasts all day long…It is not weak by any means nor is it as simple as the aforementioned Molecule 01 or Molecule 02. I’ve been told by coworkers that the scent trails down the hallway from my office (and that isn’t with an over application.) AnOther 13 is one of my favorite “cleanly” offerings from this house aside from Gaiac 10. Stunning, Beautiful, Unconventional, Obsessed.
    10/10 easily.

I thought this would be undetectable based on some things I’ve read, and it’s subtle for sure, but what is there smells amazing. This is a your-skin-but-better scent. If a man was wearing this my face would be glued to his neck. I get nothing animalic, rather a fresh, woody, musky, masculine smell. I have a feeling this will be different things to different people, I recommend trying it yourself. Another 13 (despite knowing it’s named after a magazine + number of ingredients) is a delightfully ambiguous name for a curious fragrance. Downside of course is Le Labo’s ever escalating prices.

I actually can’t smell this. I’ve had trouble with other ISO E Super heavy scents, so that’s probably the main scent in here.

Another 13 is a very simple composition. I mostly get some kind of oily consistency, kind of like sunflower oil with some woods and possibly a dash of lemon (somehow reminiscent of pencil shavings). This really reminds me of Bal d’Afrique by Byredo. Similar to the Byredo, it does not project or last long at all, about 2 hour long skin scent. Another 13 and Ambrette 9 are both very weak, almost non-existent and very pricey. Blind buying this would be crazy, all you need is a test or two to see that it is not worth it (even if it smells pleasant).

    @ LA
Do u work for Le Labo??? Lmao…I think you completely missed my point or perceived my point in a way that wasn’t intended. One of the points I think u miss is that anyone could’ve made another 13 if they bought Ambroxan and iso E and mixed it with perfumers alcohol. Zara wasn’t trying to clone another 13. It’s not Aventus. Lol. Zara decided to do a line of synthetic fragrances and as a result another 13 is being sold for $30….Zara showed how easy the scent is to make without even trying to make it.
I too appreciate Nathalie Lorson’s work including Another 13. Perfumers aren’t creative directors when they are contracted to make a fragrance for a company. She created a scent that Le Labo’s creative director signed off on.
To ur point, I recognize that great chefs can create a masterpiece dish with ingredients that don’t cost much but generally speaking when it comes to food, you get what you pay for. The greatest chefs in the world wont charge you $150 for a kale salad. But more to MY point, if a Michelin Star restaurant serves a meal for $200 that u had at Applebee’s for $35…AND THEY TASTE BASICALLY THE SAME…CHANCES ARE U WONT WANT TO GO BACK TO THE HIGHLY ACCLAIMED RESTAURANT. That’s my point. And it’s also how I felt when I smelled Zara’s’s latest release.
One could blame the chef or the restaurant that employs him/her. I choose to blame the restaurant or in the case of Abother 13, Le Labo. After all, unless the chef is the owner, they aren’t in charge of the menu. It’s not Natalie’s job to make sure she makes something special for Le Labo…It’s Le Labo’s job to make sure she makes something special for them. And to me while the scent is great and smells good to me, Zara’s latest release exposes it as a not so special scent to me at this point.
And lastly Lorson didn’t rip off Le Labo…She doesn’t decide what they choose to sell her work for. And to be clear, I never said I loved the Zara scent more or that I prefer it more. I don’t know where u read that.
You don’t have to agree but it’s my opinion and I stand by it. Respect your opinion but I don’t agree.

@damightyheru – Your gripe seems wildly misdirected.
Le Labo paid the premium of hiring a world class perfumer (Nathalie Lorson) to develop an original fragrance 8 years ago. It was their exclusive product before another company recognized their success and decided to muscle in on the cheap by stealing the idea. Le Labo did it the right way. They didn’t copy an idea to save money. They took a risk and invented something original that became a success. Why should they be ashamed? If what you say is true, Le Labo, not you, is the one who got ripped off.
When you go to a gourmet restaurant, you aren’t paying for the ingredients, you are paying for the execution of the finished product. Some of the most extravagant and expensive meals can be composed of humble ingredients if the chef is creative enough. That creativity and originality is what you pay a premium for.
But if a Zara knock off is your preference, then by all means spray away. However, blaming Le Labo for paying a lot of money to create something you enjoy (a cost Zara did not incur) and then BLAMING them for not giving it away on the cheap after having their formula stolen, is a bizarre way for a person who respects originality and creativity in fragrances to respond.
Because that cheap Zara 4mbr0x you think so highly of wouldn’t exist if Le Labo hadn’t incurred the expense and risk to invent Another 13 in the first place.

I received this fragrance from an amazing subscriber to my Youtube Channel and when I reviewed it, I gave it a G rating which in my rating system stands for Good or a scent worth trying. I find the scent to be a very seductive musky scent that makes great use of synthetic notes. It was unlike anything I ever smelled making the cost of it somewhat justifiable…
    Then I went to Zara…
They released a new line of 3 fragrances that specifically highlights synthetic molecules like Ambroxan, Coranol and Cashmerean. The scent called 4mbr0x (Ambroxan) is basically a match of THE LAB’S Another 13 in the dry down… This makes me highly question Le Labo’s integrity. My issue isn’t with the scent as much as the cost to own what you are getting. Before smelling 4mbr0x by Zara I considered Another 13 a unique, simple but interesting, very well done themed scent. Now I feel it’s an insult to peoples intelligence. Playing/Profiting on people’s ignorance is a very Chanel or Creed like move but Im noticing more and more that Le Labo also leverages the ignorance of their customers to sell high priced fragrances that are at times very synthetic, with average quality in terms of their construction. If Zara can sell a 50ml of Another 13 in another bottle for $30 Le Labo has some explaining to do imo…
If the issue is that they have a price point / reputation to maintain and under selling a fragrance they create would compromise that image, then my suggestion is to set higher standards. If Le Labo creates a scent, it should never be so easily reproduced for a fraction of the cost by a brand like Zara. Zara can’t reproduce Amouage for instance and they do a horrible job trying to remake Creed scents. The fact that Zara can reproduce, without even trying, a highly acclaimed Le Labo scent that sells for $180/50ml isn’t a good look. That only creates buyers remorse which is one of the worst things that could happen to a client- business relationship. The Zara offering exposed Another 13 as being just an Amboxan bomb with very little else other than Iso E super and other miscellaneous background notes. The dry down of Another 13 is pretty much the same as 4mbr0x by Zara. They even perform similarly with a very light heaviness about it. I know that’s a weird thing to say. It’s not a projection monster but it does have a great sillage and a sneaky strong longevity that sticks to skin and cloth for a very long time. The Zara scents major difference is the heavy scent of cheap alcohol in the beginning. It’s clearly a more generic version compared to Another 13 but the quality of another 13 ins’t worth the extra $150+ Imo.
I would be embarrassed if I were the Creative Director of Le Labo and Zara got as close as they did to recreating it for a fraction of the cost. Its clear they weren’t even trying to clone Another 13. It’s not like Another 13 is such a commercial success that gave incentives to other brands to clone it. Zara just happened to make a very simple, synthetic scent (on Purpose) and it just happened to be a remake of an expensive Niche fragrance.
If I were interested in Another 13 I’d try both scents before making my decision of how much I’m willing to pay to smell that way.
I gave this scent a G and now Imo it’s more average than ever to me. BEWARE OF PURELY SYNTHETIC CONCEPTUAL SCENTS OVER $200. ZARA MAY JUST DO A PASSABLE VERSION FOR A FAR BETTER PRICE AT SOME POINT.

Woody, musky, clean, with a touch of greenness. Nothing even remotely “animalic” here. It projects strongly on my skin and lasts very long. Very modern and clinical scent, in the same vein as the Molecules.
I think the difference in perception among the reviewers comes from having various degrees of sensitivity to Eso E Super and ambroxan molecules. It seems like Le Labo use a lot of those in many of their other perfumes as well, so you are either a fan or not so much.

I was killing time today at various department store scent counters. I smelled a lot of vile concoctions. I had previously written off Le Labo for being too ubiquitous, too basic—after all, I can’t walk ten steps in Brooklyn without the heavy trail of someone’s Santal 33.
But I sprayed this on paper and was all momentarily quiet. It’s barely there, but loud and full. I went on to spray it on skin and I’m still loving it, 8 hours later. It’s definitely composed entirely of heavy-hitting aromachemicals—I don’t think anyone would say it’s being subtle about that. And as such, it really is barely a perfume. But it is an atmosphere, and often those are my favorite scents.
What I like most about this one is the slight greenness that comes through—ever so slightly fruity and fresh.
I don’t think this is particularly great perfumery, but it is a smell I enjoy, and would use it as an inexpensive body wash. It would be just perfect for that. But at $185 for 50ml, I doubt it will be a fragrance I purchase any time soon… There are certainly more interesting products out there, but I think we can all agree sometimes it’s really amazing to just be satisfied with something that is so totally transparent and versatile, that it could just slip in and out of any meaning you wanted it to have… That is a feat.

I can smell Molecule 01, 02, 03 and 04. Another 13 was described to me as a similar scent to the Molecule line in the sense that it’s something others might smell but not necessarily the person wearing it. Well, I can’t smell it. Still waiting for anyone to offer any feedback. Negative or positive.
My wife came home from work and told me that our dog and two year old daughter smell like it. -I was snuggling with them both and it rubbed off on them.

Another 13 from Le Labo is an AMAZING scent! It took some time to get into it BUT once I did PURE LOVE!!! To the person that said this is another perfume for people who dont like perfume is…… WRONG!!!! Maybe your nose doesn’t work!!! OFCOURSE its not for everybody like EVERY scent!!!

I don’t get this one at all. I wish I could smell what others are who are leaving such good reviews. I can hardly smell anything first. Except if I bury my nose in my wrist, I get only amberwood, that same awful note that is in Light Blue Intense.

Great scent! I didn’t like it at first but it grew on me and I have gotten so many complements I couldn’t believe it. This thing last on my skin until the next day. It’s not the kind you might like right off the but spray some on and walk away let it do it’s thing for a few hours you must might love it like I eventually did. Do not blind buy though.
It reminds me Bryedo Bal D’Afrique without the performance. Anyone here has smelled both can chime in.
    Total winner!

On my skin, Another 13 was yikes. The opening was interesting – a unique take on fresh and industrial, almost like what you would expect a shiny robot would small like. However, on my skin, it soon gave way to dirty synthetic musk (must be the ambroxan? Though I have never experienced that before with other ambroxan based fragrances.). The whole day, I was self conscious about smelling like a dirty shirt collar – you know that scent – skin oils mixed with dried sweat and maybe residual cologne. Unfortunately, not for me. I’m glad I got a sample instead of buying the full bottle as the sales associate recommended.

Good Lord another masterpiece from Le Labo. Can this house do anything wrong? NO WAY! Longevity and projection is through the roof but in a flawless kind of way… this frag is so unique & the compliments just pour in. I know this is going to sound crazy but this frag reminds me of my 3 year old son… it resembles his scent & I love it!

As of Dec 20, ’17, Colette, the Paris store Another 13 was exclusive to, closed its doors forever. The next day, Le Labo announced the fragrance would be available at its labs worldwide. Anyone who loves it will still be able to get their hands – or *ahem*, noses – on it.

This is the most disgusting perfume I have ever smelled. Smells of institutional abuse or some kind of plastic factory burning. To each their own, but my God…truly awful.

  25. :

Quite simply the most beautiful smell – such a shame about the price point and the having to order from collette ( I hate waiting ) my husband can’t smell it at all !! I get enormous longevity and sometimes tweak it with molecule 2 for an ambroxen scented world – light blue intense is not a million miles off for a cheaper daily option .

This is my signature scent. I feel sexy when I wear it. When I get a whiff of it on my coat it makes me smile. I’m so afraid they will stop making it and then what do I do? Anyway, I get something minty and woodsy here. Reminds me a bit of Palo santo. I would love to know what all 13 notes are. In my eyes le labo can do no wrong. I don’t think any of the other perfumes mentioned smell like it on my skin, it is very unique.

Allegedly created around the ambrox synthetic musk, Another 13 is another Le Labo fragrance, much like Ambrette 9, that I simply do not get much out of. It doesn’t smell bad but it doesn’t smell of much at all. Some liken it to paper, which makes sense, given that the fragrance itself was created in collaboration with Another magazine, but it smells of citrus enough to take away any likeness to paper.
It’s certainly weak enough to not even consider at a Le Labo Price point, but I don’t even find the scent that pleasant, but rather, an odd fruity/musky mix that I’ll be steering clear of.
Again, it’s not a bad fragrance, like Ambrette 9, but I simply do not experience enough of its merits to outweigh its overall oddness.

I wish I knew what this smells like. I am very hyposmic to it and I must be completely anosmic to the musk used and it is wiping out most of the rest of the fragrance. I smell only a dainty cleanish scent. Nothing woody or animalic. No “notes” that I could ever pinpoint. I normally love Iso E Super. Perles de Lalique is a love of mine and it contains 80% and it projects on me like a beast. But this is a dainty skin scent to my nose. It smells slightly green and synthetic but I can’t really smell much of anything. I’m so curious how it smells to others and reading the reviews is so interesting considering it smells like almost nothing to me. I have tried it 3 times over a period of a year and always the same thing. Nearly a scentless scent on me. I am curious if anyone else has had this issue. My samples came from Le Labo, not bad decants or anything. Anyone else have issues smelling this one?

Scent – salted pear, musk & ambergris.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.
Projection – I did get noticed, it garners compliments.
    Longevity – I get 24hrs consistently.

Really not into this ‘aromachemical fad’ group of scents and this one really takes the biscuit with adding in the very unneeded Green note yet again.
This is well over $150 per bottle and is well not worth it, imho.
The mix of odd aromatic are Ok, a bit interesting for a while maybe but instead of going further and maybe adding amber or a richer wood, they added the mentioned green component which brings this scent right back down to your generic, boring and overused affair.
The novelty value wears off soon too.
Nothing sweet, fun nor mysterious or alluring here.
    My rating: 5/10.

I recieved a sample of Another13 with purchase. It’s so interesting to read the reviews before trying. Seeing the range in impressions from nothing to clean to animalistic I had to apply it immediatly. At first sniff I get the definite impression of a huge factory from the metallic mixed with glue and light greenish woodiness. I am smelling an IKEA furniture factory. Particle board (wood chips and glue), well oiled heavy duty cutting machinery. A bit later I smell a man who’s health is stagnating or to whom I am not the slightest attracted to or maybe it’s the next morning after a hard day at the office with bad cologne and no shower. I must scrub this off now. Does not work well with my skin. A first in a Le Labo. I love Musc25, Baie Rose26 and strongly like several others and have found none unpleasant but this.

  32. :

One of the sultriest smell I have ever encountered in my life. It wakes the animalistic side in you that you never thought you had it before. It’s not a strong smell when you smell yourself but people around you can definitely smell it. It lingers in the air and it’s so addictive.
    My signature scent.

    Magazine! Magazine! Magazine! Magazine! Magazine!
This is a high class, high-end magazine (ex: Vogue)…, I disagree with the comment earlier about “old & dusty”- this isn’t it’s a fresh new magazine, crisply opened with hints of that glue that they use to hold it together……… (Not sure how this glue comment will come across because many view is as cheap synthetic glue)!!!
But a really nice fragrance and one thing is for SURE: there are few “OTHERS” probably not even “AnOtHeR” like it!

I was finally able to get a sample of this, after help from a gracious member.
“Thank You So Very Much missk, for your help!”
I can understand why “Another 13” would seem bland, or un-remarkable for some, like just another musk fragrance.
It smells medicinal, yet human body oder-ish, with an undertone of animal as well.
Initially it sniffs similar too “Ambrette 9,” but a very grown up version, masculine and certainly not for Mom and Baby. That said, I rather like it!
Then again, I like rude, intense fragrances, the kind that reviewers refer to as…”Skanky,” they all seem to work well with my chemistry.
Scents like: Byredo M/Mink, Mister Marvelous, YSL Kouros, ect. would usually cause people to reel back, but they smell really good on me.
But, there is a time and place for those types of fragrances.
Not for casual outings, school or the office, but rather for intimate moments and for night time rendezvous, that’s where I believe those musky skin scents shine!
Another 13 is no exception, it does indeed have a sexual quality to it, and is probably best used for just that.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

This smells kind of metallic to me. It definetely has the ambroxan (which is one of the sexiest notes IMO and very well done in their Baie Rose 26) and if any high-end niche fragrance has the infamous “drug-store, cheap, synthetic” feeling to it it is this. But it is well done (as are all Le Labos IMO) but not sure if I would spend moolah on this. It is VERY similar to White Musk for Men by Body Shop. Musc 25 (L.A) has a lot more going on in the white musky dept.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This is what I crave in my fragrances, AMBROXAN, (and also Iso E Super.) I have to disagree with people who claim that Ambroxan based fragrances are weak in terms of longevity and sillage. When I wear Molecule 02, heads turn all day long and people almost always compliment me and ask me what I’m wearing, even when I’m anosmic and cannot smell the fragrance. I absolutely adore Ambroxan!

  37. :

Strange… I tried L’Antimatière and Another 13. And it’s like I’ve smelled the same fragrance. Very disapointed, I tought I was going to discvover wild animalistics musky fragrances (that i love so much) but discovered stranges fragrances smelling like old tobacco and light industrial glu. My man smells soapy woods mixing with shaving lotions for l’Antimatière and can’t describe Another 13 but says that it smells good, light, a little rare but still like a plain perfume.
Well, I supposed then that I’am an unfortunate anosmic to that chemical componants…

Why does Le Labo ANOTHER 13 smell so familiar to me? Maybe because it is essentially a base in near ubiquity at this point in perfume history. Ambroxan plus some musk. And, for heaven’s sake, don’t forget the iso-E-super!
Okay, so I already sniffed both Escentric Molecules MOLECULE 02 and Juliette Has A Gun NOT A PERFUME. Been there, done that. Don’t need a bottle, that’s for sure, but I have a generous decant from a friend.
I’ll keep it on hand, in case I “forget” what ambroxan smells like. In fact, that seems quite unlikely to happen, as I feel that through this three-part exercise I am now capable of recognizing ambroxan bases in more complex creations.
I do hope that Le Labo will now return to making perfumes.

  39. :

I bought every sample from the le labo shop and this scent is just ridiculous. I could hardly smell anything and I doused my wrist with it. The power and longevity of their other perfumes are amazing, but this smells like……nothing! Thank god for samples. At 150 a bottle blind buying this would make a billionaire sick.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

Such varying opinions on this fragrance. It seems “ambrox” is rather fleeting and has an uncanny ability to smell totally different to each and every person.
I got my sample from a salesperson at Le Labo who told me this fragrance is the ultimate musk with ambergris, hence its “animalic” quality, and she is correct. On me, this concoction smelled incredibly sweet, like white musk, coconut, and a very clean vanilla. It kind of reminds me of angel food cake. Projection and longevity are up to par with all of Le Labo’s other offerings.
Le Labo’s blending of ambrox with the “other 12” notes ends up smelling fluffy and heavenly.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

Le Labo does Escentric Molecules. Or should I say Le Labo does L’Antimatiere? Whatever….
An “invisible” concoction with absolutely no animalic notes detected. This is the purest woody amber and that’s it. What it smells like? Cedarwood, other woods, even more woods, metallic amber. Sometimes it’s sharp, sometimes velvety, sort of clean and very minimalistic. Just like Escentric 01 or L’Antimatiere, the level of appreciation of Another 13 is strongly related to your personal grade of anosmia to the aromachemicals involved in the composition. Upon application it strikes as a sharp metallic amber to then quickly disappear from your body. You think it’s gone but no way. There it goes again, on and on and on….and on with its unmistakeable woody amber aroma.
Do I Like it? Yes, well sort of. Let’s say it’s very pleasant and, because of that, it’s not a case that woody amber became one of the most common bases in modern perfumery but be aware that Another 13 it’s far from being artistically relevant or innovative. That being said, if you find it for cheap (almost impossible), get it…otherwise, seal you wallets as you’ll get bored in no time.
Us usual with Le Labo, unappropriately labelled. I guess “Yet Another 13” could have been a better name.

I went yesterday to Barney’s and I can only say that this is way beyond fresh and clean is something special that is like heaven like walking on clouds. The exotic darker woods makes this fragrance unique.

Another 13 by Le Labo, is as described, a synthetic take on musk and ambergris in the form of ambrox. This chemical component smells somewhat salty and sharp on the skin, but it’s also surprisingly inoffensive in small doses.
This fragrance is not your typical crowd pleaser. Le Labo is a house I admire because they take risks and most often produce loud, hard-hitting fragrances that have the ability to turn heads. Another 13 is fascinating, but also a little disappointing for me.
The chemical aroma is apparent from the very beginning. Along with green, citrusy bergamot and damp woods, the overall blend is impressively unique but sadly difficult to wear. It has a rather masculine feel, even a tad metallic at times, and while I have given Another 13 a fair chance to grow on me, I do believe I’ll be passing on my sample to someone who will do it justice.
Agreeing with the reviewer on the ‘Perfume Shrine’, this is indeed not a musk in the traditional sense. Do not expect another Narciso Rodriguez for Her is what I’m trying to say. It’s also far from being an animalistic musk.
Unfortunately the longevity was extremely poor. Two hours after application, it was almost all but gone. I see now why this fragrance was so rare and limited, my conclusion being that the brand knew it would not appeal to many consumers, only those that appreciate their synthetic approach, which sadly does not include me.

I completely agree with Henri345que in that this is a relatively unremarkable fragrance from a line that’s better known for remarkable scents. This is nothing special, unless you want a very sheer, light, underwhelming scent that vanishes soon after application. My SA at Barneys was trying her best to introduce this to me as an exclusive/limited-edition. I gave it a try. As Henri345que accurately depicted, it’s nice, has some amber and wood notes, but it’s far too sheer to really settle and warm to the skin, and it lacks durability or sillage. They were almost too anxious to push this, suggesting that it’s not gaining much traction. There are some excellent Le Labo fragrances; sadly, I don’t believe that Another 13 is one of them.
