Another gem of a scent from the MFK house. This is one of those scents which reminds me why I fell in love with fragrances. The composition is masterfully blended and right from the start this was instant love.
I get a wonderful warming creaminess from woody citrus notes combined with tonka, iris and coconut. I could wear this all year round as there is a tropical Summer vibe there but also a warming tonka woody Winter vibe too.
8 hours longevity from 4 sprays and subtle reminders its still going strong right the way through. A safe but beautiful scent which is extremely versatile and one I keep getting drawn to time and time again.
Top quality people pleaser. Well played MFK yet again!

Wore this one just the next day after Masculin Pluriel. If the aforementioned fragrance reminds me of Le Male, well this one is like Le Male at the start (smells fresh), then shifts to Ultra Zest by Mugler (sweet citrus), and finishes with Prada L’homme (sweet, powdery iris). Could call this Chimera, Amyris Homme feels like an amalgamation of different crowd-pleasing scents. It is good, but not exciting or clever. So far only BR540 (both EdP and Extrait), Grand Soir and Oud Satin Mood made me go ‘Wow!’, others from MFK are just ok, pleasant, but do not warrant a full bottle. I do suggest getting a sample set or two, see what you like, I do think this fragrance house has something for everyone.

A mass pleaser, complements monster and super safe beautiful scent from MFK.
It has citrus opening backed by extremeley smooth ambrox/tonka mixture.
Nothing special but well done. It has average longevity and projection but yet it has great sillage.
The scent is with you and after you even if you dont detect it, whiffs will come after hours and everybody can notice it. That how a fragrance should perform.
    Excellent one from MFK.

Holy cow. This stuff is so good. Almost too good.
I was walking around Neiman’s sampling a couple dozen fragrances, and as soon as I smelled this one, I bought the 200ml bottle. I felt like a junkie who just got his fix.
Amyris is very, very pleasant on the nose. It has a tropical vibe to it, and is pretty sweet in a subdued way. I have never smelled something that made me so happy so quickly. If this wasn’t a warm-weather only fragrance (which in my opinion, it is), I was going to make it my new signature. It does everything so well.
Overall, Amyris is a new favorite for me. It’s not the most original-smelling creation out there, but boy is it in a league of its own when it comes to fresh aromatics.
    10/10

Received a load of samples and the temptation is to try them all …. at once! Trying to be disciplined and try one or two, make notes and be objective, have to make sure I don’t buy them all for the sake of it.
Sprayed, it’s pleasant, disappeared after 10 mins and then it came back. Theres something familiar, I was trying to place it, I have it I’m sure.
    Prada L’homme – definitely!
So there you go, I like Prada L’homme, I like MFK Amyris Homme

I feel fantastic with this fragrance and that’s the most important thing!

This is MFK’s answer to the popular designer scents out there. It sparkles just like so many of his other scents do with orange and iris shining through to give it that mainstream appeal. But of course the main players are amyris and tonka bean. I have many modern tonka based scents but few of them do what this one does. It lasts all day on my skin and projects just past arms length. Scoop this up at one of the discounters for a good value.

So, the mailman came bearing gifts today….Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris Homme and I must say I hit the bullseye!
After opening the box and spraying some on, my wife immediately says, “Oh I like that one!” Now, she has never responded to any of my fragrances in this way, ever!! She says, “Amyris Homme has a bit of a tropical vibe to it!”
Many have expressed that this is linear, nothing special, generic, even designer resembling, although for some this may be true. For me none of the above entered my thought process. I have never been a fan of Le Male, so I don’t get that similarity there either.
Let me tell you what I do get from Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris Homme…I get citrusy, slightly musky, sweet; Note breakdown: Mandarin, Coconut, Coffee, Iris, Milk Chocolate, Tonka bean, Oud.
Very much so, I get a coconut sweetness, even Iris which gives this a floral (semi-musky) feel; the combination of Tonka bean and Oud really gives Amyris a platform and foundation. This is a very calm/nice masculine fragrance in my opinion.
I am in love; my first Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrance purchase and a blind one at that. An amazing fragrance that will get lots of wear in the coming days!!
P.S. If I might add, I get a little bit of a Versace Dreamer opening…
    Performance: 8.5/10
    Longevity: 8/10
    Projection: 8.5/10
    Silage: 8/10
    Overall: 8.5/10
P.S. A co-worker says after walking in behind two other co-workers, “one of you all smell like cotton candy!” Wowzer, not sure if I ever detected cotton candy from wearing this fragrance but hey, I’ll take it!! This fragrance is FLAT OUT PHENOMENAL!!

I smelled this in store, on a piece of paper so I have not smelled this on skin. Right off the bat between this and Masculin Pluriel I preferred Pluriel. But as they dry down, Amyris is so lovely while Pluriel kind of turn soapy.
This is a very lovely scent, fresh and sparkly. I couldn’t stop myself from sniffing at that piece of paper all the way home, it’s a scent I’d love to smell on anybody. At some point it reminds me a lot of Alain Delon’s Samourai Woman which was one of my all time favourites. Even though it’s pour homme, I don’t think it’s strictly masculine. A woman can definitely pull this off nicely as well.
Some might deem it not “unique” enough for a niche house at its price tag but it definitely is a very pleasant, lovely and wearable scent.
Contemplating getting this for my boyfriend so I can wear it once in a while!

Smells like a cedar, juniper berry, and grapefruit mens designer fragrance you would smell at Macy’s. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, considering Francis’ history crafting designer fragrances. I just don’t think anyone would think that you spent good money for this. It smells $90 tops

    – Simple life – ★★★★☆
Amyris Homme is my absolute number one casual fragrance. It has the energy of a citrus, the delicacy of an iris, the sexiness of aromatics and the masculinity of modern woods. Everything blended to the absolute maximum perfection by no other than the master Francis Kurkdjian. As among the clichés of a modern young man, Amyris is the handsomest. Commercial in its style but niche in its execution. Urban on the surface, Mediterranean romantic at heart. Like a memory of relaxing holiday on the coast of Italy… with some handsome ephemeral local stranger.
Those who say it’s uninspiring and smells like a designer cologne – I get it and won’t argue. Not every morning is spent at a Hilton’s, not every evening is spent at a gala. To my nose, Amyris is a tribute to the simple beautiful ordinary life and I absolutely adore it for that. It’s the fresh breeze of slow life when my olfactory bulb prepares for a weekend full of Angel.
Thank you, Francis. You’re my favourite! <3

Starts with sparkling florals and a huge sillage. However thats where it stays. There in no transition to anything deeper.
And then, poof. At some point, about 4 hrs or so, its just gone.
Though its a nice perfume in itself for the time its there, there a danger of this being too close to my Nivea Men’s Sensitve Shaving Gel.
Not worth the $$$ in my opinion. But if you don’t care about the $$$, want a nice lively floral for a bit that doesn’t tip over to being too feminine, this would be one.
Wondering what to do with the 10ml I bought.

This fragrance stands out for having the most amazing rosemary note I have ever smelled. It appears just as the mandarin calms down. Great development, procving that even when MFK goes for a designer vibe, he can bring plenty of new stuff to the table.

  15. :

    4 out of 5

A sweet, woody fragrance with prominent tonka, mandarin and synthetic oud notes. I agree with those who say this leans towards designer territory. It’s nice, but not my style and definitely nothing special, especially compared with this house’s other fine offerings.

  16. :

I really enjoy the smell of this one, but it reminds me very much of Cerruti Pour Homme, so much so that I would say they are almost interchangeable. Cerruti is a fraction of the cost of this.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

Well crafted, soft and expensive smelling for sure. Do I like it? No. My opinion is strictly a personal one, as I am not a big iris fan, and the iris here is quite pungent. For some reason it coats the back of my throat when I get a whiff of this. This reminds me in a way of Dreamer by Versace, as they both play with sweet floral and tonka notes. But this one comes across as plasticy and much too powdery. Just an honest opinion here, but def not worth the risk of a blind buy. At $200 for a small bottle, I can think of a thousand other colognes I’d splurge on other than this one. Not to offend any fans out there, but thumbs firmly down.

To me this resembles Versace Man Eau Fraiche, which I own. It is perhaps a tad less sweet, but very similar in composition and linearity. I think sillage and longevity perhaps a bit less. Overall a very good fresh scent, but not so unique or distinguished to be worth the higher pricetag.

After aquiring the Men’s Wardrobe sampler this fragrance came out #1 of all the offerings for me and that included the likes of Grand Soir, Lumiere Noir and other amazing compositions from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I’ve noticed that Amaryis Pour Homme has gotten a lot of mild reviews with words like “uninspiring” and “generic” being used. I couldn’t disagree more. I think the unique Jamaican Amaryis note coupled with the creamy Tonka Bean, Sicilian Mandarin, and Florentine Iris present something truly special and intoxicating. I can’t stop smelling my hand, arm, and whatever else I sprayed this on. It is truly that delicious! It is a brightly illuminated scent that is extremely versatile and can be worn in many occasions, seasons and situations. Signature scent worthy and non offensive! It also garners compliments. I would recommend this to any age group and it could be worn by a woman even though it leans pretty masculine IMO. Maison Francis Kurkdjian is truly a legend in creating unique tasty fragrances. A master perfumer. I have really come to appreciate the entire house. OUTSTANDING fragrance from an legendary nose. You owe it to yourself to at least sample this. You won’t regret it. If you decide to buy a full bottle the bottle itself it one of the most gorgeous out there. An Awesome fragrance!

This one reminds me of the scent of what an luxurious hotel’s lobby should smell like…. Maybe it’s not a unique scent. Maybe you call it to be mediocre.
However weirdly I really enjoy this scent and sometimes I desire to sniff it madly.
It definitely will make yourself almost immediately feeling being so “luxurious”..

Out of all the MFK I have and have tried, this one has impressed me the least…it is like a well-done version of many mass-oriented fragrances..nothing really special about it…it does not stand a chance in front of MFK maculin pluriel, APOM, A. Vitae(forte) or A. universalis (forte)
An overall 6.5 or 7 out of 10

This fragrance is wonderful. Sharp (in a good way) yet smoothed over somewhat by the tonka and iris accords, this fragrance elicits the image of a well put together man who is exactly where he wants to be in life. A very professional, masculine, tasteful, and elegant scent that makes you stand a little straighter and walk with a little more confidence.
Performance with this is better than you’d initially think, as although the sillage isn’t huge, on my skin it still projects moderately for a good four or so hours. Still getting whiffs of it 8-9 hours after initial application, and my girlfriend could even smell it on me the next morning. Being the sort of scent it is, it is simply not made to be a ‘beast mode’ projection frag, screaming at people to notice you, so i’m pretty happy with the performance. Out of my 20 odd bottle collection, this is by far her favourite, so make of that what you will.
    Is it expensive? Yeah.
Is it worth the money? When I first got my nose on it, I would have said no.. but now i’m inclined to disagree. This is exactly what my collection was missing.
Do yourself a favour and at least try this one out.

A basic, linear fragrance which is quite synthetic with a creamy, almost tropical feel…
    I applied 6 heavy sprays
0- 2 hours – 4 inch projection. This comes out synthetic and allergy sufferes may be affected. The scent is creamy, tropical and modern but very basic. There is tonka with a distant iris but overall you get a tropical vibe. It is lacking in quality and not value for money IMHO.
2 hours – 4 hours – 2 inch projection. Pretty much a skin scent already.
4 hours – 8 hours. Close to skin
    Not for me

A beautiful, smooth fragrance which opens quite fresh and develops to a more warm scent. I don’t get the comparisions with Chanel Allure Homme and don’t see women wearing this. I love Amyris Homme because of its smoothness. Women, in particular my wife loves this on me.

Fantastic smelling scent that smells like a very well done and crafted designer scent to my nose.
That’s not a knock at all, just stating that for a niche offering this is definitely a highly likable, people pleaser type fragrance. I don’t usually like to smell too different or avant garde, so I generally don’t dabble too much in the niche realm. But this was a wonderful surprise. Sadly, it’s only drawback is it’s price point…..too much $’s per ml IMHO.

This definitely reminds me of/smells like YSL L’Homme Parfum Intense. If you have that fragrance, you may consider this one (or vice versa) redundant.
Edit – I just put this on (again) from a sample, and I definitely thought of Chanel Allure Homme. The guy below me is on to something, for at least the opening of this frag. 🙂

    RESPECT
That’s the word that comes to mind when experiencing Amyris pour homme. Although I’ve read the notes before, during, and after the few times I have sampled, it is difficult for my nose (and brain) to separate them out. I suppose we call that ‘well blended’. And most certainly, yes, it is.
It’s not remarkable. But far from ‘common’. Very far. The ingredients smell ‘up market’. It’s warm. It’s masculine but not overly. I think this could be a man’s signature scent – works well for both office and an evening out. There is a richness to this scent that I found appealing.
As you can read, I’m struggling with this review because I do indeed like this fragrance and moreover appreciate its artistry.
Yes, Amyris pour homme – you have my utmost respect.

Making an unexpected pairing between an exotic wood from a Caribbean island and a precious rhizome from the historic Tuscany region of Italy, Kurkjdian set off to create his fragrant masterpiece. He states, “its head is in Jamaica, its heart in Florence. Amyris is an encounter between the soft, luminous scent of a tree born under the Jamaican sun and the magical aura of an exceptional iris from Florence. Feminine and masculine, I have sketched two distinct emotions, both inspired by the same flamboyant freshness. Together, they instantly kindle a flame, a flame that never dies.” It fascinates me how one could marry two very distinct perfume notes, the source of which are geographically worlds apart and would most likely never occur contemporaneously together in nature, and have the resulting scent seem so effortlessly put together. This is the masterful artistry of Mr. Kurkdjian at its finest as well as his talented gift of fragrance creation.
The composition opens energetically with the sweet citrus scent of mandarin from Sicily and herbaceous rosemary from Morocco. The effect reminded me of a glowing sunset against a backdrop of stoic Roman ruins, their rigid columns representing an inner strength behind a warm exterior. What follows is a beautiful Florentine iris and Jamaican amyris wood accord. Orris root’s powdery and earthy subtleties are counterbalanced expertly by the fragrant and round qualities of the amyris wood. Here I can notice nuances of coconut, cocoa, coffee bean, and oud. It is both rich, creamy, and warmly inviting. Tonka bean from Brazil offers a coumarin quality, lending facets of freshly mown hay and slight vanilla undertones. Overall the scent is deeply comforting, carrying with it a woody dry down which harbors a outward impression of inward strength and masculinity.

This really doesn’t smell like any of its ingredients and it’s such a disappointment 🙁
The notes list: coconut, balsam, iris and chocolate, so naturally I was expecting something warm, soft and creamy, with subtle gourmand nuances.
Unfortunately “Amyris” is sharp and bitter, with a slightly chemical quality; not unlike some cheap IKEA table that was previously wiped down with citrus disinfectant. I don’t pick up on any of the gourmand notes listed and certainly do not detect a hint of oud -real or synthetic- despite what other fanciful reviews have claimed.
It’s a cold, high-pitched scent that doesn’t harmonize well with the skin. I hoped that the chemical lemon would eventually soften and the warmth of the base notes would develop, but the squeaky ‘Pine Sol’ freshness just wouldn’t let up and started to give me a headache.
Thank god I only paid €5 for a small decant. This could be a cheap designer sports frag for less than half the asking price.

Very enjoyable and balanced citrus fragrance, very crisp and natural smelling of ripe fruits in the sun, with well balanced woody notes. Some may argue too mainstream, I say its a very well made fragrance in perfect proportion any man should have and can wear wither with jeans and t-shirt or a suit / Tux. Really good stuff guys!!!

My friend works in a big perfume store in London and gave me lot of samples from this house. i sprayed different scents on my skin, this one was alright but smell cheaper in comparison with the price £ 120. I love perfumes and have all different types and prices, but i wouldn’t pay that price for this fragrance. in my opinion

  41. :

Strangely I find the ladies amyris much more pleasing, for the gents it just does not work for me and is far too commerical for what it is and a dissapointment from MFk. The amyris femme undoubtedly can surely be unisex as the notes are so well blended I initially assumed it to be unisex its definitely worth checking out.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Amyris is probably the most mainstream smelling of any MFK fragrance I’ve tried, though that’s not really a knock against it. It just smells familiar, like you wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself sniffing it on a tester strip somewhere in the mall. It lends itself to the masculine woody/tonka fragrances that have been all over the place for the last several years, but it sets itself apart because it’s so much better than most of them. When I apply it, I get a good dose of…amyris (surprise!) and tonka, but I’m also able to pick up on coffee, some chocolate, and iris. What results is a very attractive and well-polished, sweet, masculine fragrance that seems like it would be easy to wear just about anywhere. It’s really a very appealing smell, and constructed with a smooth touch. I think it would be great to wear to the office, and even better on a date or for a night out. Whether it’s worth the price or not depends on what you’re looking for. While you won’t be breaking any ground with Amyris, you’ll still smell very nice. It’s also important to note that after you get over the initial “familiarity” of Amyris, it really takes on its own character and begins to smell like itself. Projection and longevity are good. If you enjoy Amyris but would prefer a cheaper alternative, consider sampling Ambre by Baldessarini, Mankind by Kenneth Cole, or Givenchy Play Intense. They achieve a similar effect at a fraction of the price.
    Good stuff.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I like it a lot. It is comforting and calming like a strong man’s shoulder: fresh and clean but still warm, not exceptional – it does have something very familiar about it – but it’s good and it’s there for you when you need it, somewhat discrete but still very noticable and enjoyable. Very nicely blended with some sweetness.
It is not so super masculine that I can’t wear it. I will wear this when my boyfriend is out of town, for comfort or for a fresh+warm feeling. I agree that it is probably not worth the price tag just because there is no WOW-factor. But it does smell great, smooth like really good quality perfume and makes me feel good.
    Moderate projection.
Edit: I love it more, the more I wear it as I get into it’s subtleties. Iris and I think amyris (am not familiar with the note) are beautifully complementing each other in the middle notes. I use it as my autumn fresh scent. Cozy and fresh at the same time. Lovely but probably only if you have an affinity for the typical “masculine” sort of scents and want something a bit sweet and of superior quality.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

I bought this because I was a huge fan of Francis Kurkdjians work and wanted something from his private line. It was a bit “bright and sunny” for me. But I have to say once I started wearing it I grew to love it and I get compliments on it literally every time I wear it. It has become one of my top ten favorites that I reach for now. It kind reminds me of all those “fresh” 80’s/90’s mens scents but so much better. You can smell the quality in this bottle and it lasts forever on my skin.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

I’m not one to be a conformist but the reviews stating this is an all to familiar generic scent are correct. It’s that sweet synthetic woodsy/tonka base found in a lot of inexpensive designer brands. I get the whole niche for people that don’t like niche and surely this had to be the motivation for creating this frag but this is completely not worth the price tag IMO. If you want niche but don’t want to be challenged go buy a Creed at least they do “easy to wear” while somewhat maintaining and air of exclusivity. This on the other hand not only smells generic but cheaply generic. You can tell there are some interesting notes with great potential particularly in the opening but that base moves in fast and completely drowns them out. I can’t say it smells “bad” but surely ones money can be better spent. If you want to know what this smells like, go find a bottle of Mandarina Duck Pure Black or Givenchy Xerus Rouge.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

Surprised by the number of bad reviews for this. I assume its because of the price, because smell alone it smells nice.
I kinda think of this the same way I do xerjoffs uden, or maybe creeds original santal. A niche thats not very out there in terms of smell. And perhaps can smell generic, mainstream, boring whatever. But its higher quality and youre willing to pay the bigger bucks for it. So I guess in terms of that novelty factor adding to the price youre not gonna get it here.
Again though I thought it smells good, and if I had a bottle of it I would deff wear it. Now would I actually pay for it? Nope, but thats just me.
For what its worth although longevity was just alright for me, projection the first few hours was very strong considering what ive sprayed. So bang for your buck at least in that aspect is decent.

i have to agree with the review below me .. i also get that sweety common cologne vibe but still it manages to be better then your ” standard ” cologne, probably due the amyris, which smells pretty unique .. on my buy list 🙂

Sampled it. Loved it, but too familiar in a common smell way. Reminded me of Only the Brave if it was more refined.
Edit: Got a full bottle. There was a sample on my desk and I would get occasional whiffs of it. It was so addicting and it would leave me craving more every time I smelled it. I didn’t know why but I knew i had to have it. Its got a common vibe, yes. And with the direction niche fragrances are going they are all starting to share identical DNA as well and become common to one another. So I try to put my knowledge to the side, not be a fragrance snob, and just enjoy something that’s great. its done with true skill, subtle perfection, and is a damn good fragrance from top to bottom. Versatile. Performer. Sexy. Amazing!

Was very underwhelmed. If I’m paying niche prices for a fragrance, I expect niche quality. This fragrance smells far more like a typical designer scent than niche. Glad I sampled it, saved me a lot of $$$.
I generally like MFK fragrances, this one just didn’t do it for me.

The following review is really for my notes only, its very brief and leaves out a ton of details. Im just typing something that I remember each by. Im sure I will disrespect someones favorite fragrance too.
Again…high grade, high quality crowd-pleasing fragrance. Almost a fresh, clean vibe.

I would compare this to the man that catches your eye.. beautiful, sexy & laughs at all of your jokes… but then tells you he lives 6 hours away. Its price tag is a possiblity but a little out of reach.

Francis Kurkdjian Amyris – recommended to me by the SA to try; the scent starts with a vibrant and very orange smell that quickly turns to a Very manly scent, very strong wood, sandalwood almost acidic on my skin, also herby (walang word na ganun) on the drydown; I checked basenotes it was the oud – I like this fragrance since one of my favorite drydown is sandalwood/cedar/woody. Take note this is almost skin scent on me, an expensive skin scent
*to give a clear picture of the scent it is like going to a furniture shop where some of the furnitures are newly varnished 😛 and somewhere in the shop are piles of sandalwood and cedar they use in accentuating the place*
*I remember now, this is similar to Diptyque Tam Dao, similar in accords but different in execution*

Very Generic Fragrance. I have Absolue Pour Le Matin and Lumiere Noir and I think they are masterpiece, but Amyris is a shame to the Brand

A very nice fragrance for a man, but I can even see women enjoying this fragrance also. Initially, this fragrance reminded me of Issey Miyake’s L’Eau Pour Homme, but I am getting a significantly sweet wood note in the drydown.

I tried Amyris homme twice (both skin and paper).
At first Amyris smells promising: light, fresh, sweet, a bit of chocolat. In the drydown though, the fragrance falls apart. It gets really weird, as if the ingredients weren’t okay.
My girlfriend thought the drydown smelled of a cheap or fake eau de toilette.
I had this experience of the drydown both times I tested it.
Also I don’t see why this fragrance is this expensive, it could have been one of the Armani Sport or Summer flankers.
    5/10
    6-6-2016 edit:
The topnotes are magnificent. I now see that the “weird” smell as stated earlier has been done on purpose, I guess. It gives the fragrance some sort of an edge. I got used to it, even like it a little.
However, there is a new thing that’s nagging me in the heart-/basenotes: a green, almost fleshy note that is pretty overwhelming. It spoils an otherwise super fragrance!
    7/10

    Smells like Creed. Uggghhh.
That said, Lumière Noire PH is one of my all-time faves, and Absolue Pour le Soir.

This sample is due to arrive with me shortly so I will add a more detailed analysis later.
I’ve tried it a couple of times in the shop and once on my skin.
I’m a little torn about it already, frankly this was love at first sniff. Gorgeous mandarin oranges in the top, with a hint of rosemary.
I’ll be honest, I’ve no idea what amyris is but the florals in this juice only enhance the overall experience and don’t put me off in the slightest.
The base is creamy with tonka bean and yet again it’s a superbly well blended scent from MFK.
Just don’t know whether I can justify the price tag for what is an exotic fresh summery fragrance for me.
However, the same could be argued maybe about the likes of Creed Aventus, or Milesime Imperial(This fragrance is actually better value) but if you like them…you like them.
I’ll make my mind up when I get a sample…The only sure buy for me is the sublime MFK OUD Absolutely stunning!

The gender pairing in perfumery always bothers me.
    (product) pour homme
    (product) pour femme
My general complaints revolve around mistaking the arbitrary for the essential. D
