Description

Oriflame, the Swedish house for direct sales of make up, cosmetics and perfumes, presented their new perfume Oriflame Amethyst Fatale, first in a row of their Gem Collection by renowned pianist Jean Jacques in cooperation with famous perfumer Kurkdjian.
Music and perfumes are created of notes, so Jean Jacques wanted to try to create the fatal perfume for Oriflame.

Oriflame chose the perfect name for their perfume which they presented in 2007. – Amethyst Fatale. They proudly present this chypre composition with a modern twist. It is clean, seductively imposing and combined of dark berries, rosewood and pepper in the top, iris, rose and white sandalwood in the heart, and musk, amber, patchouli and benzoin in the base notes. This perfume will stay remembered as ungrasped in its character and the name of the gem it carries. It was advertised as a pure perfume poison! The nose behind this fragrance is Francis Kurkdjian.

At first I liked it but now I think it’s awful. Granny smell.

Purple-smelling boudoir scent.. soft but deep, l’heure purple. Seems similar to L’Heure Bleu, not as somber in mood tho, and a touch different flavor.. I like this much better. More mellow than most iris/rose combo’s out there, not so bright. In flavor it reminds me of Anna Sui, but not as sweet. Richer & more smooth with the nice amber. I like its mix of classic romantic feel and a bit modern feel. Nice sillage too!

Love this scent alot,it’s very mystery just like amethyst stone’s color and so seductive just like its name amethyst faltale,so sad that i can’t own it, at least one time in life.

Heavy and powdery. I don’t get the ‘alluring’, but perhaps it’s supposed to smell sexy. Only wore it occasionally for evening events. After a while I got sick of it anyways.

The bottle is somehow an Armani Code rip-off.

I had it. I loved it for a few weeks, then, all of a sudden, i got sick of it. I hate it now.

I find this one mysterious. Hard to describe — it’s warm, elegant, and sophisticated, but also deep, sexy, and alluring… Truly interesting.

I bought Petal Quartz(the pink one) by this house yesterday and I regret it now…it is nice but today I smelled this one in a perfume shop and I fell in love with it 🙁 I tested several famous perfumes afterwards but this one was the magic one, dark, sexy, not too sweet…sth that I was searching for.

My goodness!! After a long and demanding days and hours of finding this gem, I finally have to surrender to the fact that this perfume is not available anymore in my country. I cheered myself and revisiting its violet liquid in miniature, this afternoon.
All of a sudden lighting strikes and the desire is no longer there. It reminds me of something I’m familiar with! And it’s my new perfume; M by Marcel Marongiu, also from Oriflame!!
So happy that I don’t have to waste more money and most of all, I have the replacement of my lovely Amethyst Fatale!!

The opening is very woody and peppery with an accord of berries. I can feel rose and amber too. Nice dark dense and intense fragrance with a good lasting power (8 hours on my skin).
And I wouldn’t classify this as chypre.

I had only a very light sniff from a perfumed page before I bought it. When I received the actual perfume I freaked out because the smell was so strong and overwhelming but I decided to give it a try anyway.
And that is when I fell in love with it, the smell has softened after a bit of time and it smelled so sophisticated, alluring and mature. Very rich fragrance in my opinion suited for a mysterious, strong and sexy woman. I could say this perfume is for “queens” and not “princesses”. It stays on extremely long too.
I got quite a few compliments for the smell and some men kept telling me how amazing I smell when I wore it 🙂 It’s quite heavy though so I find it best suited for evenings, winter and fall. Personally though I liked it enough to wear it all the time ’till I finished the bottle.

Amethyst Fatale starts out with pepper, dark berries and a touch of rosewood.
The opulent floral heart was constructed around iris, rose and sandalwood.
Patchouli, musk, benzoin and amber round the fragrance in its basenotes.
On initial spray Amethyst Fatale is all about pepper and patchouli.
It may sound weird but this blend creates a cold, almost metallic feel and, at the same time, it feels hot!
Within a few moments luscious, rich and intensely fragrant dark berries (I can see why many people smell plum!) burst the hot/cold bubble and, at once, make Amethyst Fatale just so incredibly feminine.
A touch of rosewood grounds the sexy scent cloud before a dark rose picks up on the cold-and-hot play of notes.
Dark, but still transparent and somewhat light, is how I would describe the heart’s rose.
The iris note is heavenly sweet, powdery and intense and with the addition of sandalwood it feels creamy and even somewhat milky – milk drops on iris petals is probably the best way I can describe the feel.
The base is all about patchouli and soft cozy accords of ambra and benzoin with a touch of musk.
All in all Amethyst Fatale is definitely made for femmes fatales!
It is beautiful, feminine, sexy, alluring and extremely seductive (but without being vulgar) – like its ideal wearer.
The fragrance lasts all day long (12+ hours) and projects with above-average strength.
My husband said this fragrance is not fashion but true style.
    I couldn’t agree more!
    11 stars!

I had it and sold it. I remember it had a plum note, it was mature and sweet and all in all was pleasant, a bit dark, but notes didn’t change much so I got rid of it because I got quickly bored.

Certainly not my cup of tea. One bitter sniff was enough to convince me to keep away… I kind of like the other two of this line though.

I don’t think this smells like a rip off of anything. I definitely don’t think it smells like Armani Code (which I like), Feerie (not a fan), or Extraodinary (which I also like) I do think it shares some of the same vibe as David Yurman and Tous Touch but just the “cover” vibe, the balance is it’s own.
As with DY and TT I agree it is a heavier perfume, more “serious” and sophisticated. Not one of the light fruity florals that cruise around so often. I think the bottle gives the right impression for what you are about to experience, although sadly it doesn’t look as nice in person, the scent however is.
Amethyst Fatal is elegant and feminine with a slightly sexy edge. There’s a hint of rose but it’s super soft, and a good feel of berries and woody notes with nothing overwhelming the other. It’s a nice even blend. Since I am a fan of rosewood, amber, berries, and sandalwood, I suppose that explains the attraction. I was hooked from the first sniff.

I know very well what you’re talking about, janhvi.fairy! BUT when it comes to this one: the bottle is Armani Code, but the smell is not. It’s actually quite good for an Oriflame. If you like iris, powder and violet, it is a gothic, a little bit incensy take on these notes.
I think this, Enigma and Mirage(weak drydown here, though) are really well done and worth attention, for Oriflame products.
In sum: nice little gothic-lolita thing.

I had a sample of the three and this one is the best. I used to be an Oriflame agent. My problem with Oriflame is that their perfumes are rip-offs of eminent brands right down to the bottles. They smell like one and the bottles look like another. The problem is that they cost just as much. It is like a buying an expensiive rip-off! This bottle is like Armani Code.
Anyway, this is the best of the three.

I tried it on a piece of paper that I forgot in my bag for a couple of dies. It was shocking at first and mesmerizing afterwards. It reminds me of incense at times, but anyway I purchased three bottles of this. A bit heavy but not in a bad way.

Tried this on and immediately knew I smelt something similar before. On me it is a sister perfume of Lalique Le Perfum (which I really disliked) but this one is less heady. Both are not my cup of tea…

Love this one! Lots of sexy roses in it! Long lasting and floral, suits women that like to be in the center of men’s attention. Night and date-time perfume, pasional and warm.

I love chypres and I love Kurkdjian, and I would also love to know how this smells on me, but that’s not happening. There are certain fragrances that I just can’t smell on myself, and this is one of them. I’ve tried three times now, and i just can’t carry this scent long enough to evaluate it 🙁

This is the ultimate poison of fragrance! Just astonishing. It begins slightly vinegary and minty but the whole process of aging on your skin, of developing is amazing. It brings you that deadly sexuality that every women desires.
I don’t know why but I prefer this perfume for winter cold days because that is the time when you need your inner sexuality to be shown and sensed from far away (since clothes cover up the rest 😉 )
When I first smelt it I thought that I couldn’t handle it but the smell learns to except your body as you learn to except the smell.
Feel it and you will love it. The pure poisonous and mysterious smell.

Starts with a lovely ambrette-y rose-iris: A tiny bit powdery, very rich and feminine. Then it dries down to an oversweet Feerie-style sugared iris-violet that rapidly becomes cloying. I love the onset and wish it lasted longer.

I totally agree with Halvah, the fragrance has nice higher notes, then it gets heavy & I didn’t like the way it gets!!
However, Petal Quartz is very feminine & lovely

  46. :

I thought this was the first in line. I would assume it’s chypre notes last only a few pleasant moments, after that it has a very strong and not really sophisticated but long lasting vanilla scent, which I was not able to wear. Did somabody try the next Gem Petal Quartz?

another of the gemstones. the perfume made for the sake of making the next of in line. i haven’t tried it, but to me these ‘line’ fragrances lose a bit of credibility.
