Description

Thierry Mugler announces A * Men Pure Wood, a new limited edition of its most popular men’s fragrance A * Men from 1996, which will be released in June of 2014. The fragrance announcement promises: “The untamed energy of nature collides with the refinement of A*Men. A wild encounter, for connoisseurs only… A*Men Pure Wood, bold seduction.“

The composition is described as an oriental – woody with a distinctive note of coffee. It is made of oak notes, coffee, vanilla, patchouli and cypress.

The signature bottle shape is designed so that it looks like it’s made of wood. The star in the middle adornes it with shades of amber. The fragrance is available as 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

I haven’t used this in a whole year simply because I HATE the bottle so blasted much. That idiotic silicone monstrosity engulfs the sprayer and you can’t get a decent press upon it to save your life. ……………… But I’ve bought some rose snippers, and suddenly thought to use them to free the bottle from its prison, because kitchen shears were seriously not up to the task.
Still the same wonderful opening I remembered – like a Taos camp fire. Beautiful. But – incredibly, it faded rather quickly into a cheap smelling vanillic plonk that left me scrambling for the soap. Did it turn while lamenting away in the back of the cupboard, or did my nose warp? Don’t know – don’t much care. Passing it on to my ten year old son – should be harmless enough for primary school.

Dusty, sawed wood with a touch of vanilla in the background is what I mostly get from Pure Wood. If this sounds appealing to you then give it a shot. It’s a unique scent for sure.

The DNA of A Men with a woody touch. A sweet perfume and something vanilla.
Moderate medium projection and long longevity.
Not bad, but it’s not a 100% woody perfume like Wonderwood, Encre Noire and others.
    Not bad (8/10)

I was perplexed by this. I did not get a distinct oak note , which I wanted. I did get a aromatic woody fragrance that came across rather mature or even nutty, like acorns.
I like the feel of the opening, a rather light, whisper of acorns and bark. The tar note makes a appearance, then blend with the rest of the fragrance. Then the patchouly base and some sweetness increase the depth with that classic Mugler DNA.
I wanted longer longevity and for the opening to be more concentrated, 4 to 5 hours and fair to weak projection from a mugler surprised me.
    I would recommend trying this.

Such a realistic oak smell. I disagree with people saying that this isn’t predominantly woodsy

Hastey is right, people looking for a dry woodsy blast won’t like this one – this is absolutely the standard A*Men with a healthy dose of wood-notes added. The wood notes here serve as a strong accent to the original’s toasty caramel.
You’ll have to enjoy the line before you enjoy this, but if you enjoy both A*Men and wood notes, this is worth trying…
Or layering a dry wood fragrance or essential oil (sandalwood would work well I think) with original A*Men and I’d wager it would be very similar to this.

What a wonderful blend Pure Wood is. If you’re a strong woody/oud conisuer then this might not be strong enough for you? Perhaps a sample is the best starting point.
Pure Wood is what it’s called, but it’s so much more. There aren’t a lot of notes that make up the composition, but those that are there, play beautifully together. I love the blend of cypress, it’s neither over powering nor subtle, it plays its part. The vanilla and coffee set it apart from other woody fragrances, while the patchouli gives its roots back to A*Men.
I love the A*Men line, and this doesn’t disappoint my nose. This by far my favourite designer house.
This is a seriously gorgeous smell to my nose!

if i want to get straight to the point, it’s soft caramelly version of A*men flankers.
longevity is good (8 hours) but projection is average.still pure malt is the best in my taste but really worth in this price. best a*men for office in cold weather.7/10

They should’ve called this Pure Vanilla.
That’s all I get after a promising, flirty opening of nice whafts of wood…
A big thumb down from me.
EDIT: Strange, tried it again today and this time I sprayed it much closer to my skin (at the back of my hand), and now I can still smell the woodiness, which disappeared way too quickly when I first tried it.

Purchased blind based on the notes. Happily, I do love it. Sadly, I don’t get the notes. What I DO get, is the same exact scent of an incense I purchased from Pier One decades ago, called ‘Piñon’. It smells just like a Taos camp fire. You have to go lightly, too much is indeed way too much. Not feminine, not masculine – just straight up South West camping.
ps- absolutely LOATHE the bottle. WTF?!?

Purchased this originally from an online retailer. Predominant oak with patchouli and dry vanilla, it is very nice. I get 8 or 9 hours of longevity with the first 3 hours having above average projection.
Just like the review below mine, I found a bottle at TJ Maxx in the clearance section for $18!! So I bought it as a back-up bottle.
For me it is a 10/10

Thanks to reviewer, caitrun, ahead of me, you are the reason I pulled the trigger and finally purchased this. Also, because I’d been watching it in the men’s fragrance section of TJ Maxx for some time and when I saw it marked down on clearance..on a lonesome shelf…I just had to. I have tried and own quite a few Mugler’s and I really haven’t disliked one so far. A few of them I adore ( Womanity being at the top). User caitrun had me at “masculine version of womanity”!! Pure wood is very dry…drier than the original A Men and I also sense that figginess that you mentioned. The dry, woody fig smell…not the wet, juicy kind like in Womanity but similar. First spray is exciting….not as sweet/cloying as the original A Men. There is a piney-ness to it and also the distinct smell of Juniper wood burning. I used to live in a little cabin in the woods of the high desert in Oregon and we would burn Juniper in our wood stove. It’s not like any other smelling wood….it’s simply unique and divine! After about ten minutes though, Pure Wood goes a little limp on me ( snort…giggle) I was disappointed and thought the best part was gone…..but then the dry down appeared!! I’m not a big “dry down” gal as my skin eats perfume and I rarely even get the chance to enjoy the dry down. NOT HERE!! I have to say what excited me most was that the dry down is nearly IDENTICAL to one of my most favorite, discontinued perfumes that costs and arm and a leg to buy on ebay….MAC MV3. Yep…you heard that right…..such a gorgeous, unisex scent that was. I’m beyond happy to have purchased Pure Wood…for this reason alone. I will pretty much buy any Mugler that I see if it shows up at places like TJ Maxx though. Even if I don’t love them, they are usually weirdly unique in some way which I always appreciate. Let me just add that the bottle is hilarious. Same shape as the original and all the flankers but this bottle reminds me of Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy with it’s rubbery tan wood grain…makes me giggle a bit. I’ll also add that I have Pure Havane too….I like this one much better though…it’s less sweet and of course, does not have the tobacco note. Honestly, Pure Havane smells just like one of those Remy Cigar cheapies that you can always pick up. Pure Wood is not very sweet…vanilla and coffee don’t stand out for me at all. You could probably amp this up by layering with a vanilla or amber. I layered it with Womanity today and it was just beautiful. Snap it up if you see it discounted!

Malizia Wood for 10 € ist 98% the same!!!

  17. :

    5 out of 5

I am a woman and just like with my review for Pure Havane, I think a woman can totally pull this off. Where Pure Havane was Angel plus tobacco. This is more like a masculine Womanity. The cypress, oak and patchouli are reminecint of the green fig notes in Womanity to me (never really smelled figgy on me, more piney). Almost Christmasy, yet I could wear this in summer. It has an outdoorsy, nearly campfire vibe and I like that. Not picking up a lot of vanilla or coffee specifically, but as it dries down and the blast of piney freshness mellows, the A*men richness is coming through. I imagine the vanilla and coffee notes will be more prevelant as the fragrance develops. Will update if I find this to be true.
Edit: Stash by SJP.. That’s what this reminds me of… Not as strong actually.. Less brash and classier.

Purchased this blind at TJ Maxx, and I was quote happy with it. Normally my skin is like a black hole for fragrances (think 8-10 sprays of Pure Havane and people can just make out that I’m wearing something), but this one has admirable projection and longevity. I feel that the patchouli rules the opening, but as you reach the middle it mellows into a much more evenly blended scent. I’m going to hold onto this for when the weather starts to get cooler. For some reason every time I smell it, it makes me think of autumn.

  19. :

    5 out of 5

My favourite A*Men flanker, a gorgeous oak note blended with the A’men patchouli and dipped in a thick, syrupy vanilla. I also get a chocolatey note that is not listed (though patchouli is known to have a chocolatey facet sometimes). Intoxicating stuff. And thankfully I get much better performance than most here.

As others have stated, the Mugler A*Men DNA is present, and toned down a bit more than even Pure Malt. Underneath that Mugler DNA is a strong, dusty, woody scent, sure to be pleasing to the masses. For me, the scent is somewhere between Mugler Pure Malt and Juicy Couture Dirty English. The woody notes smell damp, yet it still reminds me of a dusty, humid attic like dirty English does.
With that being said, the overall scent reminds me of the smell of Oud in the same way that Versace Blue Jeans reminds me of the smell of Cola. No, it doesn’t smell LIKE Oud, it smells like a scent reminiscent of Oud, comprised of more pleasing scents.
Longevity is pretty good, at about 8 hours. Projection is pretty much perfect for daily wear. My girlfriend really likes this one, and I think most others would too. It’s a crowd pleaser, but for some reason it doesn’t quite “wow” me.
I’m going to give this one a few more wearings before I truly decide, but it’s definitely a great scent, and a good option for a toned-down dose of the Mugler DNA, with an added kick of damp and dusty woods. I’m not sure yet which I prefer between this and Pure Malt, but I think Pure Wood is probably a bit more versatile.
I just wish they had gone a different direction with this one… utilizing the Sequoia note from Pure Energy and playing it up with cedar and possibly some other woody notes like mahogany and birch, the idea of a truly “Pure Wood” scent could be something so spectacular. But instead, they stayed true to the A*Men roots with this one…

You need to be a fan of a*men to like this one, and the rest of a*men flankers. I tried it as well as pure leather a*men, and I just cant digest the a*men DNA that they all share.
positives are excellent projection and longevity, but a*men and its flankers are just not for me

Pure Wood is the oft forgotten gem (along with A Taste of Fragrance) in the A*Men flanker line.
The opening notes don’t so much remind me of wood, but rather a soft coconut mixed with vanilla. That balance manages to stay rather masculine throughout the entire wearing. Projection is fairly decent, like others in the A*Men line, giving you a scent cloud with at least a 6 or 7 foot radius through the first two hours. The drydown is why you should buy this. Pure Wood gives you a surprisingly creamy vanilla drydown, a pleasant surprise coming from a woody fragrance. This fragrance shines, especially at work, during any season where the weather is cool or mild. It feels masculine, unique, and tastefully sexy. Try this one out if you’ve only gravitated towards Pure Malt or Ultra Zest until now. Its a gem.

Opens with burst of woods patchouli and coffee with green cypress, there is also some boozy sweet vanilla notes in the opening that reminds me pure malt, very elegant
    and kinda delicious.
In the middle it radiates coffee woods and vanilla, its like sitting next to barista on a wooden deck with a Cypress tree behind – gourmand and realistic.
For my nose the coffee note in this scent is very present, when i was walking next coffee shop in the mall i was surprised how the smell reminded me of this fragrance.
My problem with this perfume starts in the dry down. On my skin it has decent longevity and after 5-6 hours i can still detect a whiff of myself and the scent reminds me a herbal liqueur Maria Treban / Jagermeister / Campary type with a bit of cola. When i put my nose on the skin the dry down is nice coffee vanilla woods, but the whiff in the air..
I don’t dislike it but the association with the herbal liqueur kinda irritates me. And more i wear it the more the dry down confuses me because i love a lot in this frag.

Specifically the “He-Man” line of toys.
I love it. Very Manly scent

This reminds me a lot of L’ambre des Merveilles, actually, at least how I remember it. Also a hint of Ambre Gris in there but no graphite/pencil shavings. Kind of salty intriguing amber with a hint of greenery, I would call it tolu balsam but I am assuming it’s the cypress note. I expected it to be more woody, it is named Pure Wood after all, but since I can’t stand the original A*men this is definitely a large improvement. Would wear this myself.

Very nice. It’s softer and more intimate than the other A*Men flankers… but lasts more than 12 hours as an aura-like skin-scent. Warm, with vanilla, musk, and sandalwood, noticeable frankincense, and what I sense as a smidge of juniper (could be cypress as noted above). After letting go of my expectations, I’ve come to appreciate its quiet simplicity.

Completely different from what you expect from an A-Men flanker. Poor sillage and longevity. The smell is weak and barely sensed. Better call it POOR WOOD !

Alışılmış Angel serisinden oldukça farklı. İlk 5-10 dakika içinde sadece arka planda hafif bir A-men tarzı alabiliyorsunuz.

It took me a while to get this one, and I really like it, it is a nice wood mix with the classic A-Men but where the original A-men does not overwhelm the wood formula… and is Fall now so I would not think of a better appropriate time to wear it.

You know, every time I visited my local Mugler rep to sample some of their latest fragrances, she would always politely intimate that Pure Wood was her favourite.
Of course, you know how it is, reps are always pushing their newest products, but somehow I felt that this was different. In fact, it was clear that she was instructed to push Pure Tonka, but was torn between being assertive and being honest.
So anyway, I sprayed the card and what did I get? Well, my initial reaction was “GEEEEEZ-USSS!” this is wayyyy different than A*Men. It was literally like having tree bark callously shoved up my nose. The strength and resemblance was truly remarkable. I didn’t know how to feel. Impressed? Certainly not disappointed…
Five minutes later, the smell reminded me so strongly of something I smelled before, but couldn’t quite put my olfactory finger on…and then it hit me! BEESWAX CANDLES! See, I’ve been a meditator for as long as I can remember, so the smell was very familiar and comforting.
Nevertheless, I wasn’t sufficiently impressed, so I gratiously took the small sample the rep gave me and headed home.
It wasn’t until I sprayed myself a couple days ago, did I really understand what I was missing. WaWaWeeWa. Sure enough, on the skin, that wood smell blended beautifully with the pine and vanilla, to create a light tree-sap, vanilla, honey scent. It reminded me of being at a cottage. Very nice. I like.
You see, my signature scent has always been MB’s Starwalker and I love anything that reminds me of the forest – Swiss Army original, Burberry London, Insurrection Pure 2, CDNI. But this one really took me by surprise. In fact, I think I like this MORE than A*Men AND Ultra Zest. I know, call me crazy.
But yeah, the projection totally sucks. I get that. And so what? That just makes it less cloying in hot weather, right?
And finally, I recommend you DON’T blind buy this one because it may be a little polarizing. Give it a sniff on the skin first, and see how you feel about it.
Smell – 10/10 – at least, to yours truly
    Longevity – 8/10
    Projection – 3/10 – mostly discreet
Overall – 8/10 – Christmas to the outdoorsman

It‘s hard to find something good about the aftermath of a hurricane, but Hurricane Matthew, for all of its frightening special effects, did leave behind a fragrant gift. The air outside is filled with the smell of aldehydes arising from heaps of living leaves and palm fronds torn off of the trees by the intense winds. The cracked and broken branches of pines and live oaks have given up their rich, woody essence, perfuming the entirety of the normally salty smelling oceanfront. Even though it’s 78 degrees, a light onshore flow has brought enough rain with it to create in me the mood for lighting the fireplace with logs ever so recently gifted to me by the toppled trees. In short, it is a woody smelling wonderland of nature’s deepest, secret aromas brought forth by Matty-Boy’s remodeling of the landscape. Now that the protective shutters have been removed from the glass house, I can throw open the doors and take it all in before the ocean breezes carry it away. The perfect fragrance to compliment this hyper-autumnal evening must be Thierry Mugler’s Pure Wood with its strong oak heart, abundant green patchouli and just the right touches of vanilla, cypress and coffee. If you want to know what it’s like to be kissed by a hurricane without being swallowed alive, just spritz on a bit of this and you will be here with me.

This one does to me the same thing as Fahrenheit. It smells nothing like it, just let me explain. So, Fahrenheit has that petrol note. I used to work on Airplanes in the Air Force. Read my review of that one, but to summarize, its just kind of weird for a guy who has done that kind of work. It smells good and manly of course, but it goes over better in the city, or in art crowds. Real guys who do guy stuff have to think WTF just a little. I mean we washed that stuff off as stank. Now, there’s this stuff. I can’t smell anything but wood. Don’t get me wrong, I love Terre D Hermes, and have a few cedar based frags, also some sandalwoods, and even oud. None of them however smell like the kind of wood you work with though. When I smell this I feel like it smells like sawdust. Like go to any Lowe’s or Home Depot in the lumber section and this is what you smell. I really can’t smell any other component of this fragrance. It just smells like I got too close to a wood cutter and got blasted with the sawdust. Now, again, this is probably awesome to guys who don’t and never work with wood, go to Lowe’s, or Home Depot. Kind of like, Fahrenheit, if you’ve never been doused in Jet fuel, you don’t get that association. But, for me, I’m certain a lot of people (blue collar) maybe folks, are going to think you don’t wash after you do your wood working. Guaranteed. I’m still keeping the stuff because its not your run of the mill wood. Like, I have nothing like this, so it gets mad points for being original. It sits in that same special fragrance place with fahrenheit. It’s original as hell and I’m sure I’ll wear it sometimes. It doesn’t smell bad at all, just familiar in a way that could not go over so well around certain folks who wouldn’t understand fragrances.

If you are new to the Mugler universe – and was wondering about this one;let me say :This is NOT the one to start with.
Pretty tame and useless flanker and the dry-down is a very cheap wood smell. This may be one of the worst A*men flankers.
DO NOT START WITH THIS ONE!

  35. :

    5 out of 5

This fragrance is derivative, and other houses are doing it better, cheaper and more powerful. Ameer al Oudh or Raghba Wood Intense by Lattafa, for instance. This is not vanilla. It goes on sweet and a bit coffee hint like A*men but then the dry dry wood takes over quickly. It is a sweet wood scent with a hint of patch and cypress. Unisex for sure. Not gourmand but a diluted version of the two Middle Eastern scents mentioned above.

I have a few Amen fragrances in my collection now. I went from disliking most of them to enjoying (some of) them; they seem to take a while to grow on me.
I bought this one cheap on eBay and I have to say it’s the most powerful one in my Amen collection.
Very strong. The initial blast is almost overbearing. A very strong wood smell with a big bang of cypress. I don’t get much coffee from it and only a little vanilla on my skin – even in the drydown. I notice it but it doesn’t scream out at me.
I can’t help thinking that there’s a massive Oriental smell going on here – all the way through the scent’s lifeline. It never leaves and gives a sharp wintery edge to the fragrance.
For me, it’s quite a contradictory scent, in as much as, I (as someone else mentioned below) get a Christmassy vibe from it, which gives it a wintery feel yet it also smells very warm and comforting and reminds me of hot, summery climates.
From the moment I spray it, it hits me strongly. The smell is very in-your-face, quite musty and bold. With me, the smell stays incredibly strong for many hours and projects really well.
It certainly gets me noticed. Not all people seem to like it. I do like it but sometimes it gets on my nerves a little. I occasionally pick up the bottle then reach for something else instead, knowing that a few sprays of this will linger around for longer than I sometimes want it to.

    What a dreamy perfume!
Coffee, wood, vanilla and a hint of chocolate (although not mentioned)! This is magnificent! Delicious and elegant at the same time!
And i simply couldn’t care less if it says “men” on the box!!

The Thierry Mugler brand seems to explore on their line an answer to the following question that come into my head: How far you can go with flankers of a consolidated best seller on the market without tiring the audience? It is a task interesting somehow, because it requires you to be able to transform your perfume to the point it seems a new and interesting concept but at the same time keeping the link with the original creation. In some editions of the Pure Collection we have seen this approach be very successful, with Pure Coffee, Pure Malt and Pure Havane standing out among the most celebrated. The Flankers Taste of Fragrance and Pure Leather / Cuir were also able to bring interesting details the original idea, but failed to create a distinctive aroma and its evolution makes them much like the Amen so it is difficult to keep the interest in them after a few uses. I expected Pure Wood to follow suit them, though its scent seems to show that it is still possible to extract interesting variations of woody oriental theme in Amen.
First, it is interesting to note that despite the name indicating a possible dominance of the aroma of woods, Pure Wood does not go the obvious route and doesn’t shows a saturation in cedar, sandalwood, oud or synthetic amber materials that can pass a heavy, dry and diffusive wooden aroma Some of these woods can even be perceived as secondary, but what really stands out and gives a new life to the smell of Amen is the use of oak wood in the composition. It brings a little explored commercial woody nuance, a scent with nuances of rum, honey and dried fruits.
Although not listed, besides the oak aroma I notice a very obvious smell of guaiac, a wood interesting for its spicy aspect and phenolic impression (smoky and rubber like) while having also a slightly sugary touch. We still have a secondary and sophisticated scent of leather aroma that mingles with the sweet, sugary scent of vanilla and roasted smell of coffee. These two notes together with patchouli end up being the main responsible for making the connection with the traditional AMen while the oak, guaiac and aroma of sweetened ambery resins give a new look to the oriental aroma composition. Although little known and commented it is one of the most interesting flankers in the line in the way ut explores the concept, bordering on an approach that would not be bad in a niche perfume or a more exclusive one.

    OK-
This is Thierry Mugler # 2 for me. I only recently purchased A*Men (the original) a month ago – and I’m very happy with it.
(I know-I’m so late in the game on this!)
    So……..
that enticed me to seek out other Muglers and perhaps, like what happened to Me & Dior; possibly start a nice little collection & relationship to last a lifetime….
So when Pure Wood popped up on eBay a week ago for a good price –I nabbed it.
Eagerly , I checked my PO box daily and finally today–it came!
Well, I was hoping for a different “spin” on A*Men but honestly THIS SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE the ORIGINAL A*MEN ! I mean exactly!
Now I’m not upset because it’s just like I have a back-up-bottle of The Original now.
    Oh well………….

    The 100 Days Challenge – Day 5
The Lord among the A*Men line: it has a mature charisma compared to his younger, crazier, wilder brothers. Intense as all the family is, the wood aspect, the almost tangible cedar note -very much pronounced in this fragrance- makes me think of a gentleman. A man who still being modern exudes a natural glamour that elicit a back-in-the-day kind of life. A time when people used to read and mobile technology was found only in novels by Ray Bradbury. That is the man that you become when you wear this. A man who chooses his words, thoughts and acts, carefully.
    Today’s word: Confidence.

im thankful for the test because it gave me a good gist of Thierry Mugler’s lines smells like. Totally not for me (even smelt my mom’s Alien and i didn’t like it)

I will admit that I am a bit biased as I do like MOST, but NOT all, of the A*Men line. Having said that, I have to also admit that this is another great flanker in the Mugler A*Men line.
The opening in this scent has a dry, dusty and woody vibe. I have talked about how some fragrances will bring back memories of earlier days. On the initial spray of this one, I am a six year old boy walking into my parent’s attic. It is warm, dark and dry. Very little light comes though the vent. Dust covers the floor as I slowly may my way across the old wooden floor. The smell from that attic is what I get out of the opening of Pure Wood.
After a couple of hours the vanilla emerges and PW becomes a little sweeter, leaving the dusty, dry attic behind. Shortly after the vanilla peaks out, coffee and patchouli join the party and all three dance until the early hours of the morning on my skin.
Bottom line: If you like the A*Men line or you like woody scents, you should try this one.

One of the best Thierry Mugler line , has that tom ford lasting and performance vibe , fits all seasons very well and has one of the best woody ever lasting smells. First 2 hours goes weak but fhere after goes strong and after 5 hours later if feels like you just sprayed it again. Don’t be fooled by negative comments.i give it 9.5/10

I’m not a real fan of designer’s frags, but I have ordered this as a blind buy cause, first, I have read a lot of positive opinions about, then it costs much less than a niche fragrance.
The opening is fine, wood notes are reasonable for those who don’t like the heavy wood notes. Not bad to use it as a daily winter/spring frag, but it became a skin scent after short moment, so will never compare to a great frag.
You don’t loose money for buying it, but don’t hope to be a star by wearing it.
One last comment, the sprayer is a real desaster like most of A*Men sprayers.
(I like “Danziger” comment when he said: Bottle looks like a toy from McDonald’s. Yes man, it’s true … ha ha).
If I would evaluate, in all (price, smell, presentation ….), I will give 6-7/10.

Smelling this the first time I instantly thought this was totally unique. I couldn’t put a finger on any other scent that was composed like this. Woody from the start with a sweetness kept under control, only to keep the woodiness from being all too dry. I find it linear for the most part, and I could not mistake the familiar patchouli used in Mugler scents. The drydown becomes familiar. It smells much of the original A*Men.
Kudos to this one! They’re heading in the right direction in the Pure line if they keep conceptualizing this way.

We need an Oud A*Men. An incense one too.

Having explored all of the Amen flankers this is the one I would have to choose. Not because it smells the best but just for its overall qualities. This has the most realistic wood/oak note I’ve smelled so far. This is what it would smell like at a lumber mill site cutting down oak trees. I’ve been around this type of smell my whole life living in the Appalachian mountains and regularly cutting firewood and building wood frame homes/cabins so it would make scence that this would be a scent for me.
Very dry dusty oak wood note that dominates through out the life of the frag.
Vanilla comes into play short after initial spray making it feel creamy.
Little but noticeable coffee notes in background make it a little less linear.
Overall a great outdoors year round scent. Very natural smelling.
I also own pure malt and wear it often but for some reason I always reach for pure wood over malt. I think PM has a more intriguing scent but it can be overly sweet and bothersome after a couple hours wear at a heavy dose, this one is closest to pure coffee out of the flankers. Take out the wood/oak note in PW and replace it with coffee and you got PC.
    9/10 !
