Description
…Oh woe is he who suffers endless, sleepless nights, waiting for the longed-for day to break,
and the sweeter and deeper that longing grows, the more promise tomorrow holds!…
How different it is, how contrary, for happy lovers in the wintry cold,
whose nights are bright and brief, while their day is long and dark!…
From “ Ambra” by Lorenzo the Magnificent, on the myth of Ombrone, who would stubbornly
continue to love the wood nymph Ambra for ever.
AMBRA NOBILE evokes “nights for happy lovers are bright and brief” inebriated
by the aphrodisiac perfume of amber, combined with the warm, citrusy,
resin notes of labdanum, the liquorice notes of Helichrysum, whose leaves
shine in the sun like gold (“golden leaf”), the “manly” tobacco hints of the Tonka bean,
and a slight, delicate sandalwood finish as the calm after the olfactory storm. Ambra Nobile was launched in 2000. The nose behind this fragrance is Marie Duchene.

The vetiver really stands out for me, makes it super tart. This is a fresh dry amber with earthy herbal dusty undertones.

This was a very dangerous introduction into niche perfumery for me. I bought this as my first purchase away from mainstream perfumes and it was a great decision. It took me a while to get used to this one as it was a big change from the fragrances I had smelled prior to it, but I have now come to appreciate just how good this is.
This is such a well constructed fragrance. The amber is so well blended first with the hints of citrus and the warmth of the immortelle, and then with the woods and tonka that follow. It avoids being overly sweet, too warm or too balsamic, whilst having all of those elements at different stages in the progression of the fragrance.
I think this is at its best when the warm-citrus opening has given way to the resinous and woody notes in the heart and the base. The tonka is perfect foil for the amber, adding a mild sweetness to the composition without allowing the fragrance to deviate into the sickly sweet vanilla-amber territory. This along with the balsamic earthiness of the resins and the smooth and slightly creamy woods makes it an absolute delight upon dry-down.
The longevity of this is superb — I usually can smell the base notes on myself when I wake up the next day. Silage is decent too. You can get away from anywhere between 1-7 sprays depending on how strong you want the silage to be. I normally opt for 2-3 sprays.
Seasonal versatility for this is pretty good. I’ve worn this in summer, autumn, winter and spring, and I think this can be worn well in all. My preference is in the mild and warm weather of autumn and spring. General versatility is more limited, however. Being as refined and classy as this is, it is best suited to formal occasions or for office wear.
This is a bit more pricey than your usual fragrance offering, but if you can afford the price-tag, I would definitely recommend this based upon its excellent quality, longevity, and most importantly, its scent.

I’m developing a love of Amber.
I blind bought this and I’m glad did.
Calm, collected, fresh, deep, not boring.
Fresh enough that you Can spray as much as you want, will not become suffocating.
I can enjoy my beloved Amber and woods without becoming too warm. I’m glad I found this at this time of year (spring). Cause then I can enjoy amber in hotter days.
I used not to like powder. But powder in this keeps it floating, light and elegant.
And oh! the sandalwood.
Perfectly unisex. A woody Oriental scent that is modern, and not too overstating or “noisy”. But it has a quiet and confident presence.
Good sillage and longevity.
Love.

Ambra Nobile is a soft, sweet liqueur of labdanum — a light Oriental fragrance leaning into a chypre of patchouli and refreshing bergamot.
The cedar is well-blended with immortelle and gives some soft aromatic lift which stabilizes the bergamot. Tonka adds some deliciousness, slightly vanillic with powdered spice, a little nutty and smooth, gently radiant with amber.
Hints of powdered sandalwood bring a coziness and delicate warmth that can be considered light enough to be a year-round Oriental that is easy to wear.

I am an amber junkie. Ambers flourish on cold weather, which is a pain because I live in S Florida, which also means that we probably get 2 days of “cold”. Anyway I still wear them.
This is an absolutely beautiful amber. Upon application, the amber, tonka and the immortale flower comes to the front. The immortale is short lived but definitely present, and it gives the opening a warm, cozy feel. The drydown is a wonderful mix of tonka and amber, with the tonka cutting through the sweetness of the amber and providing a fresh and spicy contrast to the typical amber smell.
Absolutely wonderful.
Smell great my friends.

“Fresh, Innocent & Unique Amber”
I am an amber junkie, so I have a wide range of amber niche fragrances in my collection. Ambra Nobile is a unique departure in a positive way in comparison to the rest of amber fragrances I own or tested.
Most amber based fragrances are suited for colder months, are unrefined, and can have harsh openings. That’s not the case with Ambra Nobile.
Ambra Nobile is a smooth and citrus based fragrance that can be used as a signature scent all year long. Perhaps unsuitable for hot summer days, but it is still wearable.
Even though Ambra Nobile is extremely crisp and smooth, the spicy and darker woody notes from amber and sandalwood in the background give a kick to it that constantly reminds you gently and politely, “hey, I am still there on your skin. Do you remember me?”
Amber remains present from the opening all the way to the end, and it is quite linear although the potency fades over time.
Ambra Nobile can be seen as a less refined Aqua Di Parma Colonia Original but with some spices and amber added to it. It also give me the same vibes as old Brut.
It is a timeless fragrance that masterfully blends the classic and modern times into one bottle that makes it a total must in my collection.
If someone doesn’t love this fragrance, I really think there is something wrong with their nose. It is just that beautiful.

Powdry amber with fresh vibe. I like the opening that bright, sensual and little dirty. Then it turns the vanilic, powdery and oriental side. I really like and i think one of the best amber for summer nights!

This is really different. It smells really good. I got a surprise sample from lucky scent and put this on my arm and ran a couple errands. A couple hours in I kept getting a phenomenal clean smell that was citrusy and fresh clean like with a little bite. I took a deep smell in my nose up close to this and I was hooked! I just knew by the quality and longevity not to mention the regal aroma this omitted it was going to be stupid expensive when I went to look it up on their website. Low and behold, $135 shipped for 100ml!! Full bottle is on the way. I never knew such notes mixed Amber could create such a intoxicatingly fresh aroma. Also, it doesn’t take much for this to create a huge scent bubble so depending on the atomizer on this bottle like one maybe two sprays tops and you should be good. The longevity is amazing here guys…10hours plus on skin and that dabbing from a little vial. Later on when the real Amber comes through its just amazing guys. This is truly a hidden gem I think. A must try. A must….

Green, powdery-dusty amber. Definitely not “all about Amber” scent. I’d say, actually – this is green woody fragrance with a touch of amber. On my skin, I smell cedar, vetiver, amber, Tonka, labdanum – in that order. Very good fragrance – calm, comforting, deep and elegant. Very gender neutral and definitely not sweet. I want this!
arklys10 – :
great warm scent elegant ,definitely unisex
one of my favorite 10/10

Ok, this is REAL. I’m in. Totally in LOVE.

To keep it short and sweet… I adore this! Something about it reminds me very much of vintage Shalimar. It is just what I needed.
nik1506 – :
This was very pleasant in the opener, sweet and almost citrusy, but it evolved into something I would much rather smell on my boyfriend than on myself. The cedar and sandalwood transformed into something really sexy, but a little too masculine for my skin.
quattro-party.net – :
Is part of the unisex line, which has as presentation pattern the metallized label, 100ml bottles and a box whose print refers to the geometric pattern of stone façades of historical palaces, churches and cathedrals, as a tribute to Liguria, land that adopted the company.
According to the manufacturer, its output notes are bergamot, neroli and amber; in the heart were added notes of Helichrysum (from the same family of the everlasting flowers), Cistus (in Portuguese, Esteva; in English, Rockrose) – from where are extracted aromatic resins, like labdanum, for example – and patchouli. At the base, cedar, sandalwood, tonka bean and vetiver.
It is a fragrance of great power, from the moment it touches the skin, with sweet and slightly powdery nuances. During the first hour, can gives the impression of being more feminine than masculine, but worth the wait for the complete evolution, when the Woody base supports what has already been presented, sustaining a fragrance with vintage aspect, from the time when only natural ingredients were used in perfumery.
The impression I get when wearing this scent is that a bright syrup with resinous color, similar to honey, is falling on the skin. Is perfect for days of cooler weather, in addition to have majestic sillage and longevity.
As the name implies, a noble perfume!
Ethedogog – :
powdery sweet but not so simple as some amber scents. I liked it but didn’t love it. I’d compare it to Profumum Roma’s Amber Aurea, which is mostly ambergris and more fun to sniff than this. I could do without the sweetness of Nobile’s Ambra. Vetiver? I didn’t smell any. There’s sweet, sweet Tonka Bean and Vanilla. Lots of labdanum, which has a great earthy and musky quality. Not a bad take on an amber scent and the price isn’t quite as astronimic as some other niche brands.
Анна Рыбакова – :
To begin with, this is more masculine than I expected. My overall impression is that of dry, fragrant woods, animalic amber (labdanum-based), and the spicy sweetness of both tonka bean and immortelle (almost a food-spice undertone, as in spiced ethnic dishes). This spice aspect + the pepperiness of vetiver + cedar + a very dry & fragrant sandalwood lend it the ‘masculine’ leaning I’m getting. I do like it though so i will give it a few go’s.
Also I do pick up a very slight vanilla-tone in the amber used here. Very good (but nowhere near choking!) sillage, and longevity is… going strong! So far it still smells freshly-spritzed in strength, about 4 hours in.
My boyfriend thinks it smells vintage. (Yes dear, that’s the smell of real amber!) 😉 But it’s funny to know that amber is associated with more antique scents when found in a true form. (He said the same of L’occitane’s Ambre. And I agree. Those two strike me as VERY similar. L’occitane’s has more vanilla and smells richer, while the tiniest edge of cool/fresh bergamot here makes it seem the more masculine of the two.)
qwert-igor – :
Very pleasant citrusy opening followed by a slightly boring, even a little clean and soapy middle part, which morphs into a phantastic dry down, that is even a little dirty and animalic.
A dry and un-vanillary amber perfume at it’s best. Those dry amber fumes tend to give me a mild headache, but Ambra Nobile doesn’t.
I’m not short on ambre perfumes and have tested heaps of them, but I am contemplating on a full bottle of this very interesting perfume.
Should not be overlooked by the fellow amber lovers out there!
lyubomyr3000 – :
There are hundreds of perfumes with ambra. Almost all of them are sweet because balanced with vanilla. Fortunately this one is different because the tobacco hints of the Tonka bean, and a slight, delicate sandalwood finish as the calm after the olfactory storm.
I think that all subtle sweetness that we can recognize is an effect of natural, not distilled amber. This is real amber nothing changed or improved by man. I’m completely in love with this fragrance.
Add the excellent longevity and very special kind of amber note – this one does not suffocate you with the golden wall of amber, but lingers in your nose with fairy-like little explosions – and you have this piece of fragrant gold in your hands.
This is another pasterciece from Nobile 1942.
