Description

Amarula is a cream liqueur made with sugar and marula – a fruit which is typical to the subequatorial Africa with the size of an apricot, light yellow color, and citrus/nutty flavor. The name “Amarula” was patented by its inventors – Southern Liqueur Company of South Africa – in 1989. Its symbol is the elephant, an animal common to the region and that
regularly feed from the vitamin C rich fruit.
Amberula reproduces the South African drink’s acid and juicy, sweet and caramel facets with the use of notes of mandarin, apricot, amber and various resins. Lavender, ylang-ylang and patchouli nuances provide brightness and elegance.

Amberula by Daniel Barros is a Oriental Spicy fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Amberula was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniel Barros. Top notes are mandarin orange, neroli, apricot, liquor and lavender; middle notes are ylang-ylang, patchouli, caraway and nutmeg; base notes are amber, myrrh, opoponax and cacao.

Mouthwatering Amber, loosened up with fresh Fruits & Flowers. One of my favorites from this house! Extremely enjoyable and you always want to get back to the test stripe.

Never had a Amarula but to me the opening was quite a bit more fresh and fruity than I was expecting.. It kinda reminded me of some kinda orange candy as a kid. But not like a starburst that as a kid you want to eat. But the candy “older” people like. Maybe something like a orange slice, or one of those hard orange candy liquor things? Its hard for me to pinpoint exactly because as a kid well im more of a cherry kinda dude and these are not the candies I wanted to eat. Whatever the case not my kinda orange candy.
This doesnt last for to long though and then what I got is something along the lines of well the most recent fragrance I can think of is armani code profumo. Which I like so I could you could say after the opening which is lost on me personally, I like it.
    Performance was decent.
Overall very wearable and besides the opening I enjoyed it quite a bit.

With Amberula we presence a scent that fits well with the current and very popular taster for gourmand perfumes. It’s a drink, howeever, where this fits well and captures properly an abstract concept of Amarula. This is an liquor of an alcoholic content of 17% made with cream and the juice of the fruist from African tree Maruleira. Amberula sights on the contrast between the alcoholic citrus and the sweet and creamy nuances of the drink, highlighting its exotic side by an ambar chord present at the base.
Amberula’s oepning has a similar dynamic to the Yuzucello one, but with the mandarin orange being used this time to give the juicy citrus and bitter side of Amarula. It is a mandarin orange with sugared and liquor nuances. The ylang-ylang is used to help highlight the fruity aspect and add a discreet floral content, which along with lavender and spices works to create body and support the sugar juiciness and licquor amarula fantasy accord built around the mandarin orange.
Part of Ambar in the composition follows the same dynamic creation of leather accord that Daniel did to Cuir Mojito, mixing something classic to a more modern interpretation. You can smell woody amber materials that give a dry woody touch to the background of the amber accord while myrrh and opoponax create a more powdery, resinous and dense impression in the basenotes notes. Amberula is a good choice for those who like the mainstream gourmand trend and would like to venture into something that can be different and at the same time bring something familiar and the warm of gourmands we have in the market.

First of all, I’d like to congratulate Daniel by the choice of the name, not only Amberula’s, but all of the collection. They are very creative and fits perfectly with the concepts!
It could be just another patchouly-Ambery perfume, but it has something really special. The spicy notes were very well worked and dosed, so that they stand out without stealing the scene, but harmonizing with the other ingredients and making the fragrance richer and not too sweet or cloying.
The woodsy balsamic touch of Myrrh and Oppoponax also gives a dry tone, contrasting with the liqueur facet, what makes the perfume easily shareable, mysterious (as the orientals should be) and classy.
