Description

At the beginning of 2013 Oriflame is about to surprise us with a new fragrance, successor to Oriflame Amber Elixir from 2009. Night enhances magic of the new elixir that wraps the aura with sensual and exciting shades, and warms us and seduces gently The fragrance is created by two famous perfumers – Nathalie Lorson and Marie Salamagne, which provide more mysterious and darker charm to the new edition compared to antecedents. This sensual, warmer and more exciting successor is inspired by golden-yellow amber.

Top notes of Amber Elixir Night offer a blend of bergamot, wild rose and incense providing a dose of mystery and seduction and lead to powdery accords of iris attracting attention in the center of the composition supported by hot, sensual union of amber and Siamese benzoin. The base deepens the composition with woody accords of sandalwood, along with patchouli and intoxicating bourbon vanilla.

The fragrance is available in the same bottle form as the antecedent, but is colored in black, with a golden detail on the neck of the bottle. On the cap there is a metal golden plate with engraved name of the fragrance. Amber Elixir Night can be obtained as 50ml EDP.

I like the idea of this perfume, smokey, dark,Oriental and at first I really liked it but now I feel its just too much. After using it for about a month I couldn’t stand it anymore there is something very depressing about the scent.

At the first 10 minutes it smells inky, then it gets warm, smokey, deep, powdery ( because of vanilla and amber combination) and spicy.
The bottle looks expensive for its price.
Overall the scent is dark and mysterious .I find it suitable to wear this at night or for special occasions.
If you like oriental perfumes try this !!

on me this is very strong, smoky and spicy.it’s not something i wear all the time because of how intoxicating it is, but it’s great during winter nights at a party.to me it just smells…opulent

A good soft vanilla smell. Longlasting smell and it’s nice to use this at night. But if you want to have this in daylight, i suggest that when you’re going to have indoor activity or hang out with friends at mall.
I use this when i’m about to go to work lol.

That’s a fantastic perfume ideal for winter evenings. Very warming, sensual, musky and clean due to iris. At the begining,I smell intense incense(which i enjoy to smell),vanilla bourbon and a bit of rose. At the dry down, iris is dominant and remains until the perfume evaporates completely from skin. However, the longevity is not very good,as many oriflame perfumes.

I can’t make my mind up on this one. It keeps changing each time i spray. The first time i was hit by a beautiful smoky vanilla however this time all it get is patchouli (which isn’t a good thing on me) both a lovely amber on the dry down but I just can’t get past the patchouli.

Like I said in one of my perfume commentaries, I have to buy most of my perfumes blindbought. This one as well. Ordered, and waiting for my bottle. The review will follow.
Edit: I finally got my bottle. This is a very enjoyable oriental amber perfume. The scent itself is “dark” from the mix of incense, amber, benzoin, rose and reminded me of a more transparent Sensuous Noir which I got recently perhaps because of the rose beginning. But maybe it’s transparent or rather fresh quality from the bergamot is it’s distinctive difference. It is dark yet manages to perform quite casually without losing elegance. Also I would say because it’s rather soft in sillage, it’s not such an all encompassing attention seeking “noir” perfume. I wish though it can last longer. So far it’s only 3 hours on my skin and I couldn’t really detect the transformation, surprisingly linear on me. I wish I could detect the iris and vanilla.
I will use it though and have fun with my 50ml bottle.
Second edit: yup another change of mind….
This is unusual, elegant, divine, regal, and intoxicating.
Nothing absolutely nothing in my collection is like this. Hats off and applause to Oriflame. Now I’m afraid I’ll use it up too quickly.
It’s the dark incense iris bergamot amber benzoin sandalwood that’s just unique. Gothic with depth. And surprisingly long lasting! It lingers heavenly more lasting on clothes. You will be different from anyone because it’s just that special. However, it’s also rather “chocolatey” when amber benzoin and incense are blended together making it sweet enough to reassure people that you’re not extraterrestrial afterall. I LOVE IT!

Mmmm….this is sweet and sexy and cozy all rolled into one! I am a huge fan of Oriflame scents–they have gorgeous bottles, they are inexpensive, and they are almost always really well done.
This one is no exception…It opens with light incense and powdery iris, a hint of benzoin, and a tiny burst of citrus-rose. The drydown is all amber, sandalwood and vanilla. It’s a warm sweater, a cozy hug, and a sexy smile all packaged in a great bottle. Different enough from Amber Elixir to own both!

A dark, almost rubbery bourbon vanilla cake. Seductively sweet but with warmth and an almost cruel kick.

I was very enthusiastic about purchasing and receiving this fragrance, because i wanted it since months, and patiently waited for a low price in the catalogue. What I could sense on the page, was so sweet and mystic, and when i unpacked and sniffed, i felt really strong flower note and something spicy along with it. I really wanted it to have the proper sweetness for me, because i’m a young woman/girl and now i can say this is for ladies above 30 (in my opinion). STRONGLY resembles Bvlgari Jasmin Noir. Now i just will apply it by default…pittily 🙂 Has a moderate longevity and silage respectively.

I like this mystical meditative, peaceful scent. Seems simple and warm, the vanilla-amber-incense combo that I love smells like a chocolate dessert without being very sweet. Reminds me to Midnight in Paris without the leather. Unfortunately both lack a bit in strength and lasting power, but not that badly.
If you need peaceful, meditative moments to take you from a stressful day, this is the scent to calm you and bring you back to yourself. More for cool weather.

So strong and masculin, balsamic indeed! It has no delicacy, no finesse, no sublety, no refinement. This fragrance it is only a statement of strenght. Definitely a big NO for me.

I owned a decant of this. Lovely bottle! That being said, I’m saving my money for a more worth to buy perfume. To begin with, I agree with some reviewers here, AEN is an older sister to Vera Wang Princess & a long distance cousin to Dior Addict (AEN is much less sweet & less vanillic). Here is my review base on minutes:
1st – A dimmed spark of bergamot, a touch of rose + incense in the background w/ powdery iris that is very noticable.
3rd – Benzoin is starting to kick in & creates somekind of boozyness
5th – The vanilla is now the star of the stage. Thanks God it isn’t done in a tooth-aching fashion, just a little bit sweet. Here, the vanilla is combined w/ earthy patchouli to balance the scent. Both notes creates an ambery nuance.
15th – Vanilla is still dominant. Here and there the smokey incense is visible, an addition to a slightly touch of wood in the drydown.
Some of my male friends said that it resembles V.C & Arpels – Midnight in Paris, too bad I have no idea about that at all. To me AEN is not that special, but I like it as my “I dont know what to wear” perfume. Well, at least I have another addition on that group, in my closet. LOL!!

Nice..I have a sample and I can say its better than I expected.I feel something powdery flower sweet and incense also close to my skin.Pleasant and elegant I like it better than the original. But it not just vanilla smell I feel iris and creamy tones in a good balance.
I have to update: I can’t wear this fragrance it’s too dark for me.I feel death smell feel like I am in the cemetery around rotting flowers.

I ordered a sample of this, which unfortunately comes in a dab vial instead of a spray vial.
I always have the feeling that when a perfume is dabbed it’s less intense as when it’s sprayed.
Anyway, I dabbed this on my hand and it immediately reminds me of Dior Homme Intense as this one also opens up with this “make-up/lipsticky” vibe…
But soon after the opening it gets really close to my skin and really have to put my nose on my hand to be able to smell it.
Anyway, I already own DHI, so for me there’s no need to also have this one.

No sillage, no longevity, no dark side, only cheap vanilla, maybe a little bit of delicate amber.

  19. :

The vanilla notes just remind me of Vera Wang Princess. But they are totally different. VW Princess is a sweet little girl and Amber is a night lady.
I just smell this perfume from the catalog, kinda interesting but not sure about the longevity

I like how sensual and dark Amber Elixir Night is. It is a very nice amber fragrance with prominent incense and patchouli and a woody hint.
I was very surprised to like it so much just because notes seemed a little too much in terms of intensity for my taste. Yes, I like amber, patchouli, incense, vanilla, benzoin, but all these at the same time? To my delight, my first black perfume bottle holds a great treasure, and good quality and price are on the positive side for sure.

A lovely Insence, Amber, Patchouli, Vanilla scent with a woody base. Not sugarsweet and I love it! Maybe not for teenagers, but absolutely for women 25+. The smokey/amberish note goes thru the pyramid. Really nice! Reminds me of Dior Addict, but they are not copy’s, more like sisters. Smells good on my skin for several hours, if I spray my clothes/jacket it will smell good for almost 2 days.

Amber Elixer is one of my favourites from Oriflame that is why I had high expectations about this creation. I am a bit disappointed in this fragrance. The vanille ruled and the amber is not obvious for me. That makes it less darker than my expectation.

  24. :

Very, very warm, dark and deep. Absolutely balmy and warm spicy, beautiful amber and vanilla combination, a bit powdery. Everything what I like in perfume.
    Longevity is really good. 🙂

Amber Elixir Night reminds me of two fragrances I really like – Dior Addict (original) and Bvlgari Jasmine Noir. I love my Addict, but recently found it too peppery – Amber Elixir smells similar enough with just a right amount of spiciness. I think the name (Amber Elixir) sounds misleading, because it is more about iris, musk and creamy vanilla with a hint of jasmine and mild incense than amber itself. Amber Elixir is not sweet (which is good) nor very dark, but has a good lasting power and is suitable for both day and night wear. The cap looks and feels cheap, but black bottle is nice. Highly recommended.

I tried about 20 different fragrance samples from Oriflame and Amber Elixir Night is the first one that I find full-bottle-worthy. The scent is not as heavy or intense as the bottle suggests, but I still love it. I’d describe it as a darker, ambery vanilla with a touch of benzoin. There is also a peppery note and some smokiness. This is one of those comforting, warm fragrances with the right amount of sweetness that feel like a soft, warm blanket and are best enjoyed in colder months.
I didn’t care for the original Amber Elixir, it was too watery and not that special, but Oriflame got it right with this new version Amber Elixir Night. No, it’s not the most unique fragrance, but it’s great if you’re looking for ambery vanilla that is not too sweet, and is good value for money.
I’d take this over L’occitane’s Amber, which I also enjoy, but sometimes find too sweet. The drydown also reminds me of Yves Rocher’s Voile d’ Ambre, except that this one is softer.
UPDATE: Cold weather really brings out the incense note in this! Love it. I also discovered that this fragrance layers wonderfully with rose water. (which I mainly use for face, so it was an accidental discovery!) The rose makes a nice addition to warm, ambery notes. Perfection.

@black_vanilla I believe that everyone on this website is a perfume lover else they wouldn’t be on it. Some like darker more mysterious scents, others like girly sweet scents, others like mature classy scents, All noses are different. One’s sense of smell isn’t more correct than the other x
Some people love this scent some people will hate it.

    personally l like it!!!
is nothing similar with Jasmin Noir Bvlgari…someone wrotte here…anyway…
It’s sounds like heavy oriental in dark bottle …somebody is thinking dark sillage monster ,but is not …
the most dominant here is bourbon vanilla and incense!!! it is soft ,powdery(iris) smoky rose and warm (amber)…
night-time perfume for me, in home with friends around fireplace…not heavy-enormous with no great power(becouse i love sillage monsters)…but it’s still good…

Latest perfumes gone all Black and Gold ? Is that a new trend ?
I like the original one , this sounds nice but the notes are all too strong !!
Also the original Amber Elixir is all about night isn’t it ?
Why not a lighter one ?
I’ll come up with new review after i test this , but i don’t have too too hopes …Let’s see 🙂

EDIT: Tested it , to be honest it smells very similar to original Dior Addict. Its in the vein of Addict, Angel and black orchid, sillage is not great in comparison.Sweet smoky rose, smells heavy and sweet, definately night-time perfume,
