Vanilla, a little powder, and some resin. It doesn’t last long or project much. I got a sample and probably wouldn’t buy a full bottle, since I like other similar things better, but it’s nice for layering with the other Demeter samples I got to make them a little more cuddly.

A very pure amber fragrance, not marred by white florals as many amber based scents are. It is a deep, slightly spicy and woody fragrance which dries down to a warm dusky incense. It is quite strong for a Demeter fragrance, with medium sillage and it lasts for a long time on my skin and even longer on clothes. A deep and mysterious fragrance which is suitable for night or day wear and can be layered with other Demeter fragrances without losing its unique character. A firm favourite.

This is a very woodsy amber, surprisingly so. It’s no heavyweight, as we all know Demeter scents are not, but it is a truly wonderful amber. I layered it over another amber scent I am having silage/longevity problems with and it smells divine. I think Demeter scents are perfect for layering.

Fragrance Review For Amber by Demeter Fragrance
Note Amber
Well of course it’s amber but there’s a lot more going on. As I have discovered with other frags that claim to have one or three notes there’s really more notes that are not listed. This is ambergris amber wood and ambroxan a chemically reproduced amber smell which can also smell like other vague scents that we remember: vanilla, woods, citrus, even balsam and incense. This has each of those scents. It’s strong and masculine and has a citric punch as it begins. Then I smell amber hot and burnt. This does remind me of Chanel Coromandel and CK Obsession. It’s also like Juliet Has A Gun Not A Perfume. So this is only a base note of amber and as such is perfect to wear with other fragrances layered on top of it, preferably fragrances with vanilla and woods. This has a long life for a Demeter. I smell it 4 hours to 5 hours later which is a long time for a Demeter. Beautiful amber an introduction to amber note in perfume. But the scent itself is very nice as a perfume.

This is lovely, it’s warm, balmy & sweet. It reminds me a lot of CK Obsession.

Soft, simple, and warm. This scent is gentle enough that it’s sensual without being overtly sexy.
The vanilla note fades quickly into the background on my skin, giving prominence to a musky powder. Like another reviewer, I hesitate to call it powder. It’s not the same aroma you’d associate with florals, baby powder, or talc. It’s a darker, deeper powder, if you will — as if the amber itself has been pounded into dust.
Now and then I get a whiff of sweetness, or spice, or both.
I suspect this will layer nicely with other fragrances, for lending warmth and depth.
RadX – :
Its much softer than most ambers. Subtle, velvety sheer powder with a warm but delicate vanilla type sweetness.. the powder note is so soft, close and linear I don’t even want to call it powder. I really like it <3

Ok this one is really weird to me and I keep sniffing it to figure out what it’s reminding me of and here’s the list so far:
1. An old house- specifically that smell of 50+ year old wood.
2. Neosporin
3. The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (probably in relation to the old house thing)
4. spicy Oriental perfume your Aunt used to wear when you were a kid.
I think I like this but Im not sure. I love warm, spicy scents and always love when I discover Amber in them but if this is what Amber smells like by itself I’m not too sure about it. I get a lot of vanilla and Neosporin and it’s kind weird.

I wonder, is it just me who can smell something akin to coca-cola in this?
firstinthedance below mentions citrus-perhaps we’re smelling the same thing?
yip_007 – :
First spray is just like Chanel Coromandel, but only for a couple of seconds, then it morphs into a sweet, warm vanilla, almost exactly like ‘Chopard, Casmir’
Unfortunately it wears off far too quickly, even after spraying my hair.
Its a shame as its a nice fragrance, more vanilla/spice with a hint of ‘play doh’ than amber though.
Shame about the lack of longevity.

A nice, simple amber sent. Like most Demeter, its best when layered with other scents.

I got this free with an order and gave it away pretty fast. I’m sure it’s good for some people, but to me it smelled like somebodies hippy aunt. It is a mature scent indeed. If one likes amber, I’ll assume this would be a nice one for you. Has a bit of a musky, honeyed smell to offset the surprising freshness of the ambery smell.

(Note: This review is more about Demeter in general than Amber, specifically)
Amber lasted about 2 hours on me, and it was just as raucous on my skin as it was from the bottle. The “almost citrus-like note” firstinthedance noticed I detected as metal: Rusty tin. Unfortunately, this note plus the plasticky vanilla one drowned out anything that resembled the beauty of amber.
To my nose, the rusty tin note is present in every Demeter fragrance I’ve tested to a certain degree. It’s less prominent in the soliflores like Freesia, Cannabis Flower, and Dandelion (which all “pick me up”!), and strongest in Amber, Rain, and the mistakenly concocted Laundromat. I couldn’t purchase any of the frags in this line for anyone else for this reason, unfortunately. I’m attracted to Cannabis Flower myself, though; it’s so unique a scent it’s worth putting up with a bit of tin!! I would still rather save all my money for a perfume (and not a “pick me up cologne spray”, lol!).
Demeter has been available in one of our local grocery stores for a few months, and occasionally I test these for the heck of it because there are many interesting scents covered, like Popcorn and Dirt!
I honestly think the reason why Thunderstorm is the most popular Demeter frag is because a thunderstorm *has* a metallic smell, intrinsically!

This didn’t smell like amber to me. It had an almost citrus-like note to it.
borisoff2010 – :
it is simply…amber.sweet and sultry.almost perfect.in my opinion it could be a little more rich.but.the notes are all there and in balence.i give it a 9 out of 10 for an amber perfume and a 7 out of 10 over all.
neitron007 – :
Smells like it’s name (well, that’s the point with Demeter frags I guess…): sweet, powdery, creamy, vanillic amber. A very cozy scent! And it last longer than any other Demeter fragrance that I have tried, they usually disappear almost right away but this one stays on for a couple of hours.
