hawaiy – :
Upon application, a nice dark amber but with an odd impression of anise, which quickly settles into a swoonful rosewood, complimenting the amber and keeping its position as an equal. Bergamot sits well below, adding a whisper of freshness. The floral aspects keep the mix from becoming too woody & resinous, but the latter are quite insistent. Vanilla seems to keep the mix from going “commercial woodshop” of wood and varnish, and holds it all together without hitting one over the head. I approve of vanilla in this instance, where I am soooo bored and tired of it in most perfumes. But I think, all in all, the basenotes are *too* base at drydown. One hour later, close to skin, no sillage; florals, vanilla and that slight wisp of bergamot. Gosh I wish this one had some throw & longevity during the last stage.
