I had high hopes for this, it isn’t amber at all on me. It smells like a cheaper version of Jeke, by Slumberhouse. We’ll see how long it lasts, I’ll update.
Not gross by any means. Just lapsang souchong smoke with a little dry, dark loam. I guess a *touch* of camphor, but not much at all on me.

hi gtabasso — strange how scents develop differently and subjective perceptions differ. to me and on my skin this is very close to lutens ambre sultan (the original version, lots of herbs and bitterness over a warm vegetal amber. not very sweet.) i know it says it has oud in the pyramid, but i really smell no oud here, and certainly nothing fecal or vomity (now my indian ouds smell rather barn-yardy, but this does not. nor, as for that, does AKAF’s own oud hindi royal — which hardly seems to have any smell at all.)

Are people nuts? This is nothing like SL Ambre Sultan. No no no. This is a pure Arabic oud attar. This is camphor in the top and what to the western nose can vaguely be called a dark animalic amber. Those are the notes. I am into ouds but these are too much for me. This is a bit bitter kind of like the old smell of puke in a car.

very much like uncle serge’s ambre sultan (herbal and relatively dry with a touch of patchouli.) nice.

Having had this for some time I must say I find this rather special. Can´t say I´ve smelled anything like it. There is a combination of spices, amber and oud I find very appealing, and unique.

Seems like you’ve been sampling alot from this house, can you tell us what your favorites are? I’ve been planning to visit the shop in Birmingham but haven’t had the chance yet

Amber Afghani is such a warm contemplative fragrance. It’s starts out with pungent spices and woods, and once the perfume opens up on with the warmth of the body, swirls of flowers, herbs with a touch of oud appear. The whole composition is very smooth and I feel like this has to be experienced on the skin. A beautiful woodsy floral with spices and herbs – soothing and energizing.

This is such a lovely amber. A natural vegetable floral amber, with wonderful spices and floral notes, and just a little oud. Really, really good. One of my favorites.
