Allure Sensuelle Chanel for women of Chanel

Share:

Description

Allure Sensuelle has preserved its unique and playful fickleness with dazzling citrus, fruity and floral notes, and magnificent wooden accords. Resemblance is there, yet the fragrance has become more mysterious and shady. It has not become heavier, but unlike the dazzling brightness and joyful sunny character of the classic Allure, Allure Sensuelle is warmer, its powdery (iris) and oriental notes are accentuated. Its sweet notes (candied fruits) are not obtruding, but hidden in sensual spices and frankincense.

The top notes contain bergamot, mandarin and pink pepper. The heart is composed of jasmine, rose, iris, candied fruits and vetiver followed by the base notes of French vanilla, amber, patchouli and frankincense. The perfume was created in 2005 by Jacques Polge. Its face is charming actress Anna Mouglailis.

It is available as 35, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Allure sensuelle means sensual look. Well, I would say the perfect name. It starts with a peppery and spicy explosion that invites someone to look at you. The central phase with the particularity of the dried fruits invites the observer to touch, to be curious, to do what is forbidden. The final phase is that of the desire that never goes out and that continues to be fulfilled, exactly like an endless fire. This phase is the phase of sweetness, a spicy sweetness dictated by a divine vanilla and a rather pure patchouli. Ah, I forgot, have you ever noticed that where there are feminine scents with peach and vanilla, is there always talk of sensuality? at least in my nose these are two beautiful elements. For now This, Midnight Poison, D & G The One, and the stunning Euphoria of Ck are sensual magnets turned into perfumes. Well done Chanel!

This initially smells strong, but has a perfect drydown and garners compliments galore . It is spicy, smooth , very feminine, rather playful , and also very sophisticated . My all time favorite is Allure EDP, but Allure Sensuelle has always been the perfume that people stop and ask me about when I wear it . It is lively , feminine, kind of flirty, and sophisticated. It also has the intense Chanel richness ( which does not come cheap. ) This one definitely projects very well and is long lasting as you would expect in a Chanel.)

This is one of the few mainstream Chanel releases that I cannot wear. Don’t get me wrong, the scent is very beautiful and, yes, on the right skin it is indeed alluring and sensual. Unfortunately, my skin regularly amplifies the fruity notes and suppresses the rest; hence, instead of patchouli and rose, all I can smell is a mix of obnoxious sweet fruity notes – peach, apricot, mandarin orange, red berries and whatnot, paired with a very sweet vanilla in the drydown. I don’t know why this happens, but it’s the reason why I have to stay away from all fragrances with prominent sweet fruity notes.

I used to have a bottle of this and decided to swap it out. I hadn’t seen it in stock where I live for so long that I wondered if it was discontinued. My reason a few years ago for swapping it was that I was more picky to be honest about the perfumes I kept and the ones I didn’t. Unless I loved it I wouldn’t keep it. But I found myself often wearing fragrances I ‘like’ over ones that I may ‘love’ for different reasons such as the environment I am in or how it will be around others and how generally pleasing it is. For example, although from a different brand I have been thinking how I almost never wear thierry mugler’s Aura because it is so intense it fills up the whole house let alone wearing it and sitting near people. I do wear moderate perfumes though, depending on where I am. Allure Sensuelle edp is a great example of a perfume that isn’t light and too safe a la light blue or daisy, but is just that level above where people can smell you but it is not too much. I think for the office it’s fine if not oversprayed. It’s good quality as well and wearing a recognizable scent that has a little bit of impact I find to be also more easy to do. So I found myself remembering this one and how I prefer it to the original Allure edp and took the plunge and bought it, and am glad I have done so as it is really a nice fragrance. It is sweet and fresh with the Allure DNA. Allure edp doesn’t suit my skin for some reason, though it is nice to have in my Chanel collection. What I really hope to get is the Allure Sensuelle edt as I never see it anywhere where I live so I will look online as much as I don’t like buying Chanel online. Allure Sensuelle is in a nutshell a pretty, feminine, soft yet punchy fragrance which I think makes a pretty safe gift and according to the Chanel lady at my local counter, a frequently selected Chanel perfume by men for their wives or girlfriends 🙂

Re-reviewing this. I Love it! I’ve been on a Chanel binge lately…it’s glorious! I’m getting the vanilla too in the drydown!❤️ Just so classy it is!❤️

Allure Sensuelle is my second favorite Chanel fragrance (next to Coromandel)! It has the best dry down in the history of forever! The opening kinda makes me a little dizzy at first; but I am training my nose to embrace its punch more and more. The headache-inducing note is slowly being accepted in my system (thank heavens!). I am currently wearing this these days so that the person I like can remember me with this smell, and, I, too, could associate our memories (in my class) with this fragrance.
This fragrance is a patchouli monster, so if you are not into that note, best be off, dearie. This isn’t for you. But you if you like a patchouli which isn’t so earthy, then this is your gem. I really find patchouli so dynamic in all fragrance categories. The patchouli here is well-blended with the dried fruits it promises. It reminds me a little of YSL Elle, but this is more sophisticated-smelling than that Midnight Poison dupe. The opening and heart notes scream so loud; but the dry down is really heavenly. The Chanel sweetness comes out, and even though it is a bit closer to the skin, I can still smell it from my neck and clothes every time a get a whiff of myself.
Again, the opening might be a big punch on your face upon spraying, but, take it from me, this Jacques Polge masterpiece develops into the most alluring and sensual fragrance ever, so the name suggests.
P.S: The EDT version of this has more pink pepper and is more suitable for daytime usage. However, the EDP is much more magical than the EDT. I have both bottles, and each of them has its own persona. Incomparable, distinctive, pure beauty.

Re-review. When I first had this it gave me rashes, I hated it and loved it at the same time.
Now, reusing it before deciding against giving it away, I have decided that I do rather enjoy this sweet patchouli and dry rose fragrance.
I’ve used over half of the 35mL bottle and it’s served me quite well. Far from my favourite Chanel, but it’s much more ‘me’ than the original Allure and ANY of the Homme line, save Egoiste and Antaeus.

To me after spraying it it smelled just like someone mentioned – very old ladyish. It got better after a dry down – I can get vanilla, minty bits from patchouli as well as powdery notes and hints of pink pepper. But the vetiver doesn’t work very well with other notes here.
I simply don’t understand the hype about this. It wouldn’t be my choice as it smells synthetic and agressive all together for me.
    To me 1/10.

They compete well, but Chanel will never make the best of any scent category. Allure Sensuelle is woodsy, resinous and classifies as ‘sensual’. Really though, not many people like this on me. It’s not sexy to them, just overpowering. And with a lighter spray… simply a little masculine.
    Buy any of these instead:
    Tresor
    Samsara
    Magnifique
    Dior Dolce Vita
    Dior Addict Eau Delice
    YSL Elle
    Sensuous Estee Lauder
    Amarige Givenchy
    Organza Givenchy
    Mon Exclusif
    Tuscany Per Donna
If you can get past some intense openings, these warm up and develop into masterpieces far exceeding that of Chanel fly sprays.

Deeply oriental, woody, very balsamic. Not bad, but it is not my fav type of a fragrance. Too warm for me.

This scent is a halfway house. Nothing to cry home about but not a terrible scent either. If you are into street level ng on your face scents, then this is not it. Its delicate, sexy, sensual and almost a non existent but present smell. All the right ingredients are there. Its warm spicy, scent of vanilla, patchouli, a little amber for me and all things delicious. Now, take note as this was a blind buy for me. I am almost screamed my house down when the scent dissappeared from my arm within minutes, but then sprayed it on my jacket and 24hrs later it is still there. This was a definite good reminder that not all perfumes are great on skin, some are better on clothes and vice versa. That’a just the way it is. This is worth a pruchase on the days you feels ng like treating yourself. More like a “add to the collection” not a must have! Take the risk. It’s definitely a bedroom scent ladies. He/She will be sniffing you all night!

I’m surprised to see no reviews that talk about Allure Sensuelle’s ozonic qualities. The top notes give of an electric smell to me, like rain and lightning storms. There are nice dry spices and a woody patchouli (nothing to remind you of a headshop, mind you) and a base of faint apricot and vanilla. This is much dryer and airier than I had imagined, and certainly far more casual. I really enjoy it, although I wish it had more strength and tenacity. I’m still searching for the spicy lactonic apricot fragrance of my dreams, but alas, I’m not sure they make them anymore. Thankfully this one doesn’t have the offensive saccharine peachskin note that’s become so common in fruity fragrances like The One, etc.

As a first step towards my new goal of trying out all Chanel women’s fragrances, I sprayed this on in the department store, around 8 hours ago. Not a lot of sillage, but still clearly present.
There is definitely some overlap between this and Coco Mademoiselle (my only other Chanel encounter so far). I love this perfume! It smells expensive, spicy, interesting and sophisticated. It smells less pink and creamy than Coco Mademoiselle.
Where Coco Mademoiselle is the 20-24 year old pretty young woman, strong but lovely at the same time and above all kind to everyone, I would say Allure Sensuelle better suits the same woman when she reaches her mid-twenties, is making progress in her career and is taking her own steps in the world with modesty, charm and confidence.
I am now really curious how the other Chanel fragrances are going to be. For this one, I would say, if money did not play a role I would definitely get it!

Love the scent, love the bottle but miss twist and spray version. It would be beautiful if it was designed in the purple colour of the cap.

Allure Sensuelle nears the midpoint of Coco and Allure. The spices are reminiscent of Coco’s characteristic clove, which is not like real clove but a thing unto itself. It’s undeniably Chanel. Add some earthy florals and a mysterious vanilla, and you have Allure Sensuelle. The vanilla keeps it grounded, keeps it from flying in your face. It’s one of the last complex fragrances produced in the 21st century; by that I mean it has a long, carefully crafted list of notes working in harmony, as well as a certain 90s sophistication about it. I’m afraid it came out too late to achieve huge success, but I still appreciate what a great piece it is and am happy to add it to my curated collection. And what a beautiful bottle! I prefer the classic Chanel apothecary bottles, but I make exception for this luxe, chic gold-and-purple bottle. Longevity and sillage of the fragrance are quite good, too.

I will put this review short and sweet….I love this!
It ticks all my notes/fragrance boxes. I have the EDP…not sure of ther year…yet…but I have a feeling it is a newer version…the bottle is the same as shown above. I love the bergamot/labdaum/lavender combo..it adds earthiness. Balsamic…yes…the patchouli does not overwhelm on me. A certain freshness in the opening is also great. It projects very well also. Also carries a slight unisex vibe too. Cheers to Chanel once again !!
    Fab/amazing scent !!

I have some things to say about this one sadly, and what a sad thing it is for me.
First off, most importantly, it gave me a BAD rash. This never happens for scents with me. I was badly infected for a few weeks. It was a 2009 batch, so that’s on me I guess.
Secondly, the longevity is POOR. Lasts less than an hour for me. Sad, because the scent isn’t all that bad. Not worth buying more than a 35mL bottle for a discount, but still… good.
Starts of balsamic, quite alluring yes and strong in that patchouli affair. Lovelyish.
Classy, very Chanel… just flat. and bad for my skin.
    3/10 for me

  22. :

I liked it when I tried it in the store and it sounded good on paper so I bought it, but boy do I regret this purchase!
It develops very badly on my skin, I can’t even describe the way it smells when the middle notes settle down. I wore it to the office once and people were opening the windows, asking where that bad smell was coming from… I was so embarrassed I never wore it again. Sephora in my country doesn’t accept returns and I paid a lot of money on it so my heart won’t let me trow it away, therefore it is now just collecting dust on a shelf.

Allure Sensuelle is a contradiction because it is both sexy and yet at the same time comforting.
Where #5 is a power fragrance, Allure Sensuelle on the other hand is mysteriously sexy while at the same time it is a fragrance for cuddling your children while putting them to bed. A contradiction? Yes and no. In either cases it is a bedtime fragrance…depending on who you are putting to bed.

This scent is wonderful. Creamy, luxurious and sensual. But one thing I cant understand is why people say that it is strong and has a huge sillage?! No.. I have used this perfume as a summer scent and on my skin at least, it is so round and creamy that it almost just feels like a creamy and luxurious body lotion scent. Very nice and comforting. It melts into my skin and is never ever sharp, not even when I first apply it. Very good signature scent that is a little bit mysterious, comforting, warm, clean, just a hint of spice and wood, and you wont smell it on every other women, like coco mademoiselle.

This is one of the most powerful and intense scents to me.
The notes most apparent to me are patchouli, vetiver, pink pepper with some hints of fruit and jasmine.
The intensity of these notes create an almost menthol/acidic smell and it really is so entrancing and alluring. And at first spray it is very confronting.
When I first bought this i applied three large sprays to myself, big mistake!
One spray is enough and every time i wear this I get compliments
“Wow that is such a beautiful perfume” “That perfume smells very classy”
I have grown to love it and enjoy wearing it on special occasions, definitely not an everyday scent.

Sadly this “queen”is now only a sad, paler and tamed version of her former glorious, audacious and nuclear sillage-producing self. The density and richness, with the undercurrent of woods and spiced florals does not resemble who she currently became. This used to be the reason I skipped my biased and prejudiced opinion about flankers. This was one of the first fragrances I believed to be superior to her original…she was strong, poised, provocative, refined and intoxicating…people would know when you’re around…the drama, the mystique and suspense…oh! she used to be magical, bitchy, hardcore, classy, bossy…Now she’s uhmmmmm…..shame Chanel, I mean, really now! She smells the same but her soul has been sold….there are these missing links which were previously sumptuous…like an orchestra…in harmony with each other, you could not single out one single note because it blended so flawlessly. There is a thinness about her now which replaced the fullness…her fire is now merely a fleeting candle light which gets blown out by the lightest breeze…I’m really sad, I’ve lost my “armor”, which makes me feel vulnerable and defenseless…like when you’re not fully dressed, that feeling when you’re halfway through the door but feel you’ve left “something”behind but you can’t pinpoint “what’ axactly. …But my addiction for this fragrance keeps me coming back to her..even if she only makes me feel half the invincible and conquering inner seducer she used to..there’s nothing else that smells like her, maybe that’s why, maybe because only few men wear her…whatever, I don’t care…she’s one of a kind, she’s mine, she’s “me”, I become “her”, her gaze, her strength and her “rawness”wrapped in sheer refinement and class!

If it is true that all Chanel fragrances were reformulated last 2015, then I am lucky to have a 100ml 2013 (or even 2005, as the codes repeat every 8 years and the box it has looks really old) bottle.
This scent transcends the norms of divinity. I love it.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

This is a little different than I remember it smelling in 2005. It’s somewhat like Coco, which I bought for my mom last year, only this is stronger. This comes on a lot more intense at first and it’s incredibly long lasting. I do still love it, I just think they tweaked the formula a bit when they brought it back. I hate that Chanel has had to change their formulas in recent years. They do a good job, but our sense of smell is so connected to memories that it can feel like something is missing.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

A strong and classic type of scent.
Reminds me a lot of other Chanel’s fragrances, but it’s quite masculine. It could easily be a men’s cologne.
Spicy notes are very dominant, I can also sense lots of patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver.
This perfume is classy and elegant, it totally makes a statement, but there are one’s that I like more.

Blergh! Somehow I managed to get some of my sample in my mouth, not sure how that happened. It doesn’t taste good.
Smell-wise, however, this is the closest thing I have been able to find to Hugo Boss Intense, and a look at the most upvoted notes will show a striking resemblance. Certainly not a dupe, but somewhat close – enough that I could see the resemblance spontaneously. This one is noticeably fruitier, though, the peach is strong on my skin. It’s like a mix between D&G The One and Hugo Boss Intense, really. This one is softer as well, nothing unisex about it – it’s all soft, warm, sensual femininity. I miss the unisexy edge, but still, love it.

Allure sensuelle,my only chanel in my collection of fragrances I love.
    It is warm,balsamic,slightly spicy,floral,and vanilla.
Longevity is a good 8 hours and sillage is beyond arm length, she will captivate people around you.Men love her!
It is a masterpiece in my eyes, and for me It has that one of chanel fragrances on the sideline, while coco mademoiselle takes centre stage.
However although coco mademoiselle may take centre stage, allure sensuelle steals the show for me,and deserves an encore.
    Let us not forget her…..

Imagine a cold day. You are wearing a big and warm scarf, a coat and…Chanel Allure Sensuelle. This perfume is like a cozy sweater in winter…but you are still sexy. This is a perfume for a woman that knows who is she and what she wants. Is not a girly fruity juice, it is not a bunch of flowers all over you. It is a little bit more mature, a perfume for a confident woman. You can wear just a pair of jeans, a tiny bit of makeup and this perfume…and you will feel youself a true woman. It is spicy…a little bit playfull…your presence will be noticed for sure!!!

WTH, it’s just Chanel. I always wanted to test it seriously but how I couldn’t love a creation named sensuelle from the house of CC? It’s like it first picked me and enchanted me.
Straight to the review because I don’t want to ‘eat’ your precious time but if you have a look on my profile, you’ll notice that sometimes perfumes inspire me to write mini essays haha. A teacher, a make-up artist, a boss and responsible-type of profession could rock it.
First smell was and it is not a pleasant one. Middle part of the perfume it’s just a bit generic, spicy and light patchouli. Then the magic comes. Trust me, it’s so hard to explain you how it really smells and what senses it awakes. It’s like I am breathing something ‘watery’ that quench my thirst. I know it sounds a bit too much but it’s so nicely made. I really can’t detect which tone or combination of tone gives this result.
It’s tones are like an explosion of fresh fruits, creamy combination of vanilla + sandalwood, it’s spicy character softens with the time by leaving a light touch of pink pepper making it more ‘fresh’, for sure I can detect it’s floral part, I hate floral perfumes but this one is just amazing, hmm iris. About it’s base, it’s kind of mute and classic. All in all, for what I am sure? Sensuelle is a naughtier, riskier but a true lady sister of the original Allure. A formal perfume that is just bright, expensive, burgundy, moral, passionate and Chanel. Like!

I love this perfume so much. The top notes are not that pleasant to me, and the first time I tried the perfume I actually made a face. But then the scent became something heavenly, I have never smelled something so pleasant ever before. I have no idea what the exact ingredient is, but it makes me feel like I can do anything and my husband really loves it on me too.
It’s a complicated scent, and its not easily likeable. I use it in colder days.

This was previously categorised by Fragrantica as floral woody musk which I think is more correct than oriental floral. Quite different to Allure and a perfume of its own, I found it had an admittedly smooth cashmere like base that to my nose was quite artificial and a tad headache inducing. Quite strong and expensive smelling regardless.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

My bottle of the of the toilette version is only half used. I stopped wearing it because as my everyday signature fragrance it started to smell very synthetic. Then I experimented with layering a cheap Jasmin floral perfume with it. This perfume is by the way “made in the UAE by SAP Industries”. It made the perfume more creamy floral. Everything seemed more heightened in a gourmand way with the “candied fruit“ component of Sensuelle. My mouth started watering! This had never happened before with this particular perfume bringing a new appreciation for it. Like a very sweet, spiced, zesty, orange creamsical. If that makes any sense.
The difference between the EdT and EDP is that the floralcy.
The toilette is a sharp, dry, spiced woody-patchouli amber fragrance with only the slightest hint of rose and Jasmine. Could very well work on a man.
The best version of the two is undoubtedly the EDP, with an expensive and gorgeous aldehydic bouquet laid over top—a veritable female centric floral oriental perfume.
The base is super comforting and warm. I am almost certain it contains a lot is synthetic cashmeran, sometimes marketed as “cashmere wood”. It’s said to feel like being wrapped in a cashmere garment and I do feel that way with this. This must be the secret to cozy sensuality of this perfume (sensual note)! The sharp woody sandalwood and patchouli really brings out the dark leathery quality of the labdanum. And The plush vanilla is beautiful as ever.

    5 out of 5

Based on reviews, I purchased a small (but expensive) bottle of Allure Sensuelle as a blind buy. Like all Chanel fragrances this one is extremely potent. A single spray is not skimpy on the juice and, personally, I think more than one spray is overkill. I have only had the opportunity to try it during fairly warm months, which may have something to do with projection. I don’t typically define my perfumes by seasons but this one is definitely for cooler weather wear. Not only is it a spicy oriental, it’s also very strong (I reiterate again). I have mixed feelings on Allure Sensuelle. I like it but I’m not in love with it. During fall or winter it might be possible to wear this any time of day. However, the notes and potency of the formula make me think evening wear or special occasion.
The opening is a spicy blend of sweet pepper and sandalwood. Some people may be put off by the initial spray due to the amount of pepper and spice present. But it does dry down somewhat. There is a floral background to this scent but it’s difficult to make out specifics. The pungent aroma of oakmoss mixed with sandalwood and amber overpower most of the other notes on my skin. At one point I may have caught a whiff of vanilla and rose. There’s no fruit for me at all. As someone else described it… pencil shavings. I can see where that notion came from because this is an extremely woody fragrance. Woody, spicy, peppery, powdery.
Longevity is forever. Allure Sensuelle is an all-day kind of fragrance. Sillage is enormous. The scent practically lingers like a trail. Be careful with application. There is absolutely no need to reapply (for the sake and sanity of people around you). It’s a nice smelling perfume, in moderation. It’s also possible to get tired of smelling it like I do sometimes. It’s just so strong and never really weakens, even after hours of wear. Perfume-sensitive people should probably avoid for that reason. Chanel could have done a better job with the bottle too. A little too plain for my liking (and the price), but the scent is far from simple.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

I can’t believe I have not reviewed this! I guess it’s because I bought a 2014 bottle when I was pregnant. While it smelled like pencil shavings, massive amounts of pepper, and some sort of sickly fruit, I figured I was pregnant and hoped the problem was that my nose was off, not the perfume.
Fast-forward 2016, this stuff is abominable! Smells just like it did when I bought it. It smells like the ghost of a perfume mixed with a chemical soup. Same as before–pencil shavings, massive pepper, and sickly, no, ghastly, fake fruit. WTH was Chanel thinking?
And BTW it is NOT only in America that you can return perfume! CHANEL.com will accept returns. You have already been warned about this monstrocity, but if you insist on purchasing a new bottle anyway, pls buy from CHANEL.com so that when you discover all these reviews about the reformulation were on point, you can return it directly to them and tell them just how vile it is. They need to hear it.

  44. :

It is a warm and spicey perfume, very elegant and nice.
I really do like it, even if sometimes it feels a bit heavier than I am comfortable with.
In the first minutes I dislike it, it is even a bit masculine, but then it turns into a very womanly smell.
The notes are perfectly blended, I cannot really identify them apart from the rich vanilla undertone.
Lasts long and it is better for the cold weather but can comfort you also in the not so hot summer days.

I wore this as a teen when it came out as I love woody, spicy, floral scents. I only wore one bottle though (moved on to Nu, YSL, if anyone is wondering). I have tried this again a few times recently and I now find this quite cloying.
It starts out with a real punch of spice, sweetness and woody coziness – lovely. Then, about an hour later I thought it had disappeared. However, it made a come-back in the drydown and I continued to pick it up 8 hours later. The drydown has something relentless about it, and not in a good way. It seems to be a woody, ambery (synthetic) base that just drones on in the background like a car alarm going off several streets away. Whilst this kind of oriental base is my comfort zone, here it says nothing interesting and ended up giving me a headache and/or turning my stomach on every test.
The top notes of this are great but the drydown is boring and loud. Has it changed since it came out? Have I? Either way, another one crossed off the list.

I admire that I can’t detect any distinct *sweet* notes in this, it makes it unique. I can definitely sense the spices in that kind of really autumnal way, but there’s also that sharp potting soil type smell that dense but almost fresh too. That’s my novice nose probably picking up on the patchouli. I think lol.

Before you go any further…I’m a fan of this scent!
I’m normally highly sensitive to patchouli, however this is blended seamlessly and I can’t detect any specific notes, just an aroma of perfectness.
It’s incredibly classy, with a sensual backbone.
First spray is full of pepper and can be a little overwhelming, however I now find to be zesty and a great ‘pick me up’.
From there it smells like a little black dress, with just a hint of something metallic giving it an aloof feel.
Once this stage subsides you’re left with what reminds me of fleshy fruit, dripping with nectar. The fragrance isn’t fruity as such, it just smells full, ripe, and completely seductive.
    Get around it!

Jmalone84, thank you. This was one I was tempted to blind order from Chanel, because like most of the their supposedly higher quality frags it’s not available to test in malls and department stores.
I had a feeling it would be a mistake after sniffing what they’ve done to Coco Mad (which I never really liked anyway), Coco, and a disappointing chemical bath blind buy of Rue Cambon.
Had been eyeing Coromandel and Sycomore, but I believe I’ll wait to see what Fragrantica reviews say about those reformulations.
Disappointing on the allure sensuelle – I was really looking for a quality, dense patch. The hunt goes on…

I don’t know what’s wrong with my skin and/or the chemistry with this one, but it smells wrong for me. I add it to my wrists, and even a little touch smells like something rotten, though the perfume is fresh. The most unflattering perfume on my skin imo, though I love patchouli a lot. I wanted it to smell like patchouli and apricots, and it smells like a dead fish. Disappointing.

I found original Allure to be boring. Allure Sensuelle EDP is a bit more interesting. (This review is for the original formulation).
Allure Sensuelle EDP has the thick, soapy lather feeling of original Allure with added sweetness and spice – vanilla, peach, rose and patchouli stand out on my skin. There is a doughy smell present in the opening of Allure Sensuelle (I detect the same facet in YSL Manifesto) but it dissipates after 30 minutes. In the drydown, Allure Sensuelle EDP has a tinge of chemical-like sharpness threading throughout the composition, reminding me of pure acetone. I think it comes from the use of the patchouli and woods (all permutations of Angel give off the same chemical patchouli scent on me) clashing with other notes. Though I favor the notes used in this fragrance, it feels incredibly chaotic on my skin and doesn’t quite translate into anything potent in my mind when I close my eyes and inhale.
(After each sentence in this next part add the line, “…at least on my skin” because Allure and Allure Sensuelle really do smell lovely on some people.)
All-in-all, Allure Sensuelle EDP feels blocky
