Description
The house of Alford & Hoff, specialized in skin care, is launching their first fragrance in October 2009. The perfume is for men and it was named after the brand, Alford & Hoff. Founders of the company,
Barry Alford and Jefferson Hoffman, chose Rodrigo Flores-Roux, perfumer working for Givaudan to create their first fragrance.
This woody, oriental scent is best described by Florex-Rous himself: “We wanted to do something very layered and very rich, with a lot of depth.” Top notes introduce citrusy and herbal notes joined by Orpur, an ingredient used only in Givaudan. A heart incorporates vanilla, tonka beans and tasty rum, while a base is built around amber and strong notes of leather and suede.
Flacon of this fragrance is very simple, made of matt glass, with a wooden stopper. Alford & Hoff perfume will be available as 100 ml EDT. You will be able to find it only in exclusive shops and retail chains.

I’ve never tried this one but I have the limited edition EDP and it’s fantastic. A great boozy rum with some added spice that I can’t quite place. Top notch.

Smells like a classic man. A slightly spicy, slightly sweet, slightly herbal-green fragrance.
Has the same uses as Tom Ford for men, Kenneth Cole signature, Allure Homme, etc.

The notes of this fragrance is not listed but i did some research and this is what i find out;
Topnote: fresh citrus and intoxicating herbs
Midnote: Sweet rum ,vanilla and tonka beans
Drydown: Golden molten amber, weathered leather, suede .
I used to have Gucci pour homme it was so complex and i enjoyed wearing it. It was spicy and sweet and boozy all at the same time. Then and it was discontinued. I tried Michael Kors, D&G One, Dior Homme, JC Dirty English and similar spicy fragrances. They were all missing something. I coincidentally came a cross with Alford-Hoff. It was almost a blind buy for a $100. But worth it. If you like spicy fragrances you will enjoy this long lasting sometimes boozy sometimes woody and semi-sweet fragrance.

All the positive reviews are correct in their description of this frags complexity.
Slightly fresher, more complex Dolce Gabanna the One?
Longer lasting than John Vartos?
A warmer Dior Savage?
Hoff for men is difficult to describe – really needs to be tested because of how balanced and complex it smells.
Its pricey – my most expensive purchase of 2015 – but it lasts 8+ hours and the dry down never turns bitter, never ends up missing its DNA so to speak.
Hoff for men isn’t super sweet like a Paco frag or Prada Extreme or SpiceBomb – but it does well with women up close. Great snuggle scent. The sweetness is smart – comes from a nice twist of a rum note that projects well.
smooth. very smooth.
Rodrigo Flores Roux is the same nose behind CK reveal – a golden sweet fragrance that many consider a big part of CKs comeback. He also did many of the excellent John Varvatos fragrances – This Hoff scent equaling their quality and bettering them on performance.
The bottle is very heavy glass and the cap is well made. Quality sprayer, seems like this will last many many years.
Can’t wait for the Aqua version. Hoff for men = 9 out of 10.

This is great! But they have a new fragrance called No. 2 I wish Fragrantica would make a page for.

Purely by chance, I stumbled across an article about this scent and I liked what I read about it. I ordered a sample from eBay and waited patiently for it to arrive from the USA.
I had high hopes that I would like it and I am not disappointed. In fact, I absolutely love it! I have seen one bottle for sale on eBay from a UK seller at a very reasonable price so I immediately ordered it.
As another reviewer said, I can’t stop smelling my wrist. This is divine and oozes class and refinement. It’s going to be my new signature fragrance. This deserves to be very successful, but I’m hoping it’s not too successful from a purely selfish point of view, as it’s nice to smell different from the norm and the masses.

Quality cologne that is rich, sweet, woodsy, masculine, playful yet sophisticated. The description is correct the cologne has contrasts but not in a polarizing way. Off the top I got a fresh citrus but not in a generic way. This opens similar to D&G the One or Tabarome Millesime. I think there is bergamot, mandarin, or orange at the top. A mix of sweet and dry herbs mixes into the scent. I would guess basil or sage but there might be orange blossom like in the One. I’m not sure about ginger or cardamon but it has a similar vibe. Next the dry down has an amber, suede, rum, and wood vibe that is very sensual and smooth. Although this sounds like a powerful combo it is very refined and light on the nose. I get The One similarities too often in this cologne. I would swear there is tobacco in this!!
Overall this is a beautiful fragrance but I think it is too similar to D&G which is half the price! Excellent attempt at a new entry level niche/upscale designer. The performance, sadly, for me was pretty poor. I sprayed it on heavily and it faded very quickly! It was barely detectable after an hour. Projection was very soft. Too bad because it is a divine scent!! I suggest taking a shot at this because it may perform better on your skin.

This has to be one of the best scents out there.
I have been searching most of my life for a fragrance that is complex, refined, long lasting and oozes personality with out being loud and I am now sure this is the one. I will stop my search with Alford & Hoff.
I won’t go into all the various ingredients and their blending because I honestly think this is a edt that you just have to experience to appreciate properly. There is something chic and timeless in this perfume that makes one glad it is expensive and not widely popular (yet)
Some have remarked on the price but to be honest I would pay half as much again for the privilege of owning such a cultured and classy scent.
One short spray on my wrist in the morning and I was still having haunting reminders of it in the late evening.

Found it for 98 bucks in Nordstrom. Very well balanced 98 ingredients and yes I will give it a 98/100. Woodsy and spicy long lasting scent.

As much as I respect this scent, I can’t but feel some hesitation to buy full bottle since JV original really is almost identical at a fraction of the price.
Very ordinary after a few wearings. Much better out there.
5/10 . Average and overpriced.

I sampled this fragrance at Neiman Marcus a couple years ago. The bottle is heavy glass with a heavy wooden round cap. The look and feel of this bottle screams “expensive, elegant, high class” The juice inside from what I remember is a top quality amber color fragrance. I put a few sprays on my wrist and God!! I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist every other minute for the rest of that afternoon.
This is a great fragrance, another masterpiece by Rodrigo Flores-Roux. I want this! I really want this!! This can be my signature scent. It smells great! classy, elegant. and the best part is that is not well known , that works for me, I want to stand up from the rest with a distinctive scent. I will follow up with a review update once I buy it so I can give you a better review of the scent itself.
sultan_1990 – :
Probably one of the greatest scents I have worn for awhile. Woodsy, very intense, and very complex. It is my signature smell.
mxo842speagoessenda – :
unfortunately very expensive but i want to smell it 🙁
and if it was available as 30ml maybe i would make blind purchase but for 125 bucks not possible.
also hard to find !
DarkLight – :
I found it for 125 and I have to say that it is the most pleasing cologne I have ever worn. I have tried many over the years (I am over 40). Women often comment but this is the only one that other men have impulsively asked me what I am wearing – then they look like they can’t believe they just asked me that.
podolyak – :
love to smell it but 150 is a bit out of my price range……..if u see my review and think its GREAT tell me and i might consider
