Description

Aldwych—a fragrance that recalls bowlers and the British Isles, with green carnation paying homage to the discreet boutonnière Oscar Wilde sported to be recognized by kindred spirits of “wit and wisdom.”

Absinthe envelops a classic carnation soliflore accord, with lavender and aged patchouli adding a bespoke Savile Row flair to the fragrance.

Aldwych is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum. Aldwych was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Michael Coyle.

The carnation note used here has a wet, off smell like vase water after flowers have been left in it too long. No thank you.

Fragrance expectations are interesting. I tried a smattering of Mikmoi samples and this was one that I thought I would like the most of out of them and I ended up liking it the least. It could be my unfamiliarity with wormwood or its strength in this fragrance. I’m not entirely sure. My experience with wormwood is really limited.
The best way I can describe this is that it gives me a picture of a person walking into an Indian restaurant with a small bouquet of carnations and dropping them on a dining room table. It’s a linear, light floral, wormwood dominated fragrance. I got little patchouli and lavender, but perhaps others might get different emphases.
Sillage and longevity are average. It’s not going to last over ten hours (or didn’t on me anyways) and it’s not overly strong. This isn’t my cup of tea but perhaps it is for other people.
