I got a sample of this Acqua Lotus quite by chance, and I never would have picked it out for myself, but I have to say I’m intrigued: I’ve never smelled anything like it. I can’t discern many of the listed notes at all: I get no fruits at all, for instance. Instead, what I smell is a salty marine theme very well blended with a cool, watery lotus accord – and a weird but quite nice savoury edge that adds an unexpected borderline edible facet to the scent. This sounds like a mess in theory, but these diverging aspects go together surprisingly well.
I definitely get why this is part of Molinard’s Collection Privée; it’s quite daringly original or even experimental, and won’t appeal to everyone. It’s not entirely my thing either, but I do like it, and I’m very glad I came across it – my perfume horizons have been broadened a little more once again.

I am surprised by the number of dislikes on this. In my opinion there is nothing offensive and risky about it that can divide reviewers to such extremes. It can easily be a crowd pleaser.
It has this airy, salty, clean vibe that never slaps you in the nose , never over loads.
It strongly reminds me of jil sander pure which i had liked at most but never had the chance to buy before it was discontiniued.
So happy to meet this sister

This perfume was true love for me. It’s complex, fresh, very natural and somehow super emotive. Perhaps the lotus or the acqua and wood or the combination of these earthy elements just delights my senses so well. I was smelling myself all day long this is the one perfume I can just simply not get enough of. Became my signature. Love love love it! Bought it right away and also it laaaasssstttts! <3
I have 100+ niche samples for swap within Europe – updated spreadsheet of samples on my profile, get in touch!

This is an aquatic Oriental and it has no lotus unless it’s tucked away in the floral bouquet of abstract flowers of which jasmine is the star. This is probably called water lotus because it smells more of water lilies. Everything about it is watery cool refreshing and like a lotus pond. Serene and sweet. Dries down to woods. The opening is fresh with lemon a bit of aldehydes and sea notes. Simple and invigorating perfect for putting on after a shower. Unisex because it’s mostly water. Perfect to wear to the beach in the hot summer months. Molinard makes better fragrances but this is not bad. I’m wearing it next time I come to the South of France where they have the best beaches.

Scent – musky rose water.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
Longevity – I get 12hrs consistently.
