Opens up with very natural juicy citruses.
After 5 minutes it is a pleasant green fresh scent.
Drys down to a slightly sweet fig on clean flowery background.
Scent you can reapply throughout the day to refresh yourself.
P. S.
Don’t search for green fig leaves scent, the fig here is the sweet fruit in the drydown.
alifko – :
atlantis is spot on, there is almost no fig present how on earth its voted as the most prominent note is mind boggling!
that out of the way, what an incredible fragrance. juicy bergamot citrus is the star of the show here, almost opens up like zegna aqua bergamotto. goes soapy and musky on the dry down. an uplifting green scent if ever there was one. lovely stuff from BR!

I’ve had this for over a year now and I’ve worn it enough times to develop a good opinion on it. I know fig fruit is voted as the #1 note on this, but I get almost no fig fruit from this at all. I actually don’t get much of the green tea note either. Fig is my fav note and I own several fig-based fragrances including Hermes Un Jardin En Mediterranean. This stuff smells nothing like it. There might be some green fig leaf buried somewhere in the background that blends in with whatever green notes were used. It is very subtle. The name Vintage Green is appropriate as I get prominent green notes mixed with a sour orange/bergamot vibe (not very sweet at all). It is very pleasant. If they took out all the pepper and “dirty” quality that TdH has and used a cleaner, lighter vetiver, this is probably what it might smell like.
Longevity is ok on this one considering that it is a very light fragrance. I get maybe somewhere in the 3-4 hour range. However, this stuff has 0 projection. Feel free to go heavy on the trigger.
Banana Republic and their Outlet has regular 50% off sales and you can grab this for $24 USD for a 75ml bottle. You may also be able to find this at Ross for around the same price.

iv read a few reviews saying they only get 1-2 hours, i get a little better, prob 4 hours on my skin and 4-6 on clothes. Iv certainly had alot worse . As for the scent it starts of with a crazy sharp green note for me , thankfully it only last about 5 minutes and it mellows into a beautiful green fig frag. i really enjoy it alot and as a alternative to GIT/egra/tres nuit i personally liek it better .
mLenter – :
Poor longevity – Maybe 2 hours. Poor projection.
That being said, it’s a nice green, fig scent. Aspirations of Indigo by Nest. Indigo is lightyears ahead of this. But it’s cheaper than Indigo.
I think the candle of this scent is nicer than the fragrance spray.

This is a great fragrance. Not really floral green. I get a little bit of Dylan Blue with the fig and musk, just a little. It’s sweet, but not overly so…well worth the money. Looking forward to trying the other BR Icon scents.

This is a fantastic fragrance. I have 27 bottles in my collection, so im not super experienced. But this is the first bottle that i bought a double of. I found the big bottle at ross for $24. It only projects for an hour and lasts about 2 hours on my skin. Which is slightly a bummer. But i enjoy the scent so much that i just bought an extra atomizer specifically for 78 green.

I think this is a top notch scent – stack it against anything and it will still be a worthy rival. It’s sweet and uplifting – I don’t necessarily think it’s a “green” scent – in the sense of dense foliage and vegetation – but who cares. It smells fantastic.
kanabis777 – :
Not a completely linear scent because as time progresses, you will experience a smooth more apperant green offering that is natural and relaxing!
Not a loud scent but this one doesn’t need to be in order to sustain it’s calming nature!
I love the green tea note and the fig will compliment it with a touch of sweetness.
Date night worthy
Workplace worthy
I treat this fragrance like aromatherapy and it will enhance your mood with a light of positivity

Hyped to the max. Before the hype train this fragrance went for under $35. Now it’s going for $250 on eBay. Over price and over hyped.

Of the 5 releases in the Banana Republic Icon collection in 2017, Vintage Green was the only bottle I felt inclined to purchase, despite the collection in general being quite pleasant and a good value.
Its name is a bit misleading, “green” being included and the year (to which it is an homage) being 1978. It’s not a powerhouse scent of yore, but rather, an invigorating, agreeable, and effectively-priced freshie. Mainly a mix of bergamot, musk, vetiver, cedar, and fig, Vintage Green hints a lot of the right spots, with a mix of citrus, florals, woods, and even a hint of sweetness from the fig that foster a balanced offering that’s really a great match for daytime warm weather.
Despite an EDP concentration, Vintage Green does not boast projection or longevity that’s beyond what I would expect for its price point ($48 for 75ml retail, sometimes reduced 40-50%). It’s still a great deal for a fragrance that can be had for under $30 but it’d not one I would wear with the expectation it’ll be more than a skin scent for more than 6 hours or will outlast extreme heat. Still, it’s a nice option that I welcome in my collection, and it reminds me that I need to retry the other original other four, and I believe there’s a new entry to the line, as well.
Overall, a highly-recommended try.

This is a wonderful fresh green fragrance similar to Creed’s Original Vetiver or Mugler Cologne but with added notes of green tea and fig, and with the scent of leaves instead of grass. In fact I also smell something reminiscent of neroli in the opening as well as the late drydown as in the other two fragrances; this is probably a combination of the mandarin orange and jasmine. Mostly however it basically smells of green leaves. It is a beautifully calming green fragrance altogether, and the opening has a very pleasant green bergamot accord as well. On the drydown I get more of the fig note, so it becomes sweeter overall, but the green leaves accord is still dominant. The fig note in this is not as dominant as in a fig-based fragrance like for example Atelier Cologne’s Figuer Ardent (though this one smells very similar to Banana Republic Vintage Green) or Acqua di Parma’s Fico di Amalfi, but it is still definitely there – and I happen to really like the fig note in fragrances. The fragrance is totally unisex but the sweet fig drydown does make it lean a bit feminine for a bit of its duration. Sillage is moderate but on the stronger side while longevity is incredibly strong at over 12 hours! Overall, the Banana Republic Icon collection presents some really great fragrances that are in my opinion niche-quality at designer prices. This one is the best in the collection in my opinion, followed by Banana Republic’s Vetiver Linen. I really love this fragrance as it smells so natural and relaxing (especially with the great fig note) and has amazing longevity on my skin, so I’m giving it a perfect score.
5/5

I spotted a couple of 75 ml bottles of this at Ross this week for $19.99 each. They also had a 100 ml of BR Modern. Great finds if you’re in the U.S. and you like prowling discount stores as much as I do 😉

Fantastic fragrance and last a very long time on my body as my body heat is warmer than that of regular people. All fragrances sit well on my skin which I am very grateful for. People go crazy for this bottle as it is no longer available in most places.
muaddibar – :
Excellent scent…! As others mentioned, it’s soapy and green. The opening is like someone took BR Classic and added a greener note. It dries down quite nicely..if somewhat linear. A great fragrance for a spring or summer weekend. Good longevity. This is very unisex so may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

This one was decent but only a notch above ok in my book. It did however warrant a “like” !
This opens up very bright, citrusy, green and soapy and stays pretty linear but as the scent dries down it does get slightly more sweet, mellow and green. I did like this but for some reason it didn’t really blow me away and I may wear this on occasion in the warmer months but I don’t see this being a staple in my collection. When I crave a really bright, green aromatic scent I think I’ll stick with Calvin Kleins Truth as it’s a little better suited for my personal taste. Vintage Green is very well blended and I can see a lot of people (Men and women liking this!)
Also when I first smelled this I was quickly reminded of 3 scents I already own and those scents are Elizabeth Arden Green Tea,Mugler Cologne and even very slightly it smells like a Grey Vetiver from Tom Ford.
Performance was very surprising as usually these types of scents don’t last but it lasted me 6-10 hours but with that said this didn’t project very much but was still detectable up close.
Overall rating—6.75 out of 10! It is a nice scent but because I have similar scents in my collection and some of those scents are cheaper it does lose some points for uniqueness and value.

Wow, I can’t believe it! This smells like a wonderful clone of Chanel edition blanche. To top it off, this one lasts for ever. I put it on at 4 pm and it’s now 10pm and it still projects off my wrist. Guys this is truly an unknown gem. Check it out. Regards

As other reviewers have mentioned this scent is very green and to me is more of a day spring fragrance. Upon first impression I smelled the bergamot and green leaves notes and oddly enough, it also smelled like cucumbers to me. This reminded me of a more spa like version of Creed’s Irish Tweed. I checked out this fragrance because I had heard about the similarities between this fragrance and Irish Tweed. It is a very fresh scent that is Unisex, it projects decently and longevity seems to be doing well. I would recommend this fragrance if you like a very green fragrance, and as a plus its not very expensive.

**My 2nd Review of the Banana Republic Icon Collection**
Vintage Green:
– simply put, to my nose, this has vibes of Creed’s Original Vetiver, Mugler Cologne and Tom Ford’s Neroli Portifino – you could even add a splash of Grey Vetiver in there
– I make these comparisons because Vintage Green is in the same ballpark as these scents – scents that have that fresh, green, almost Irish Spring soap vibe to them
But there is a DIFFERENCE that pushes this more towards Neroli Portifino’s corner of that ballpark:
1. The sweetness of the fig note
2. The green tea note
These 2 features push this away from being that professional, “wear to the office” Irish Spring/Vetiver scent. I wore this to the office today and whenever I caught a waft of it, I realized it comes across as sweet (almost feminine instead of unisex) and thus is too playful/casual for work.
You can wear this anywhere but formal/work situations. Leather Reserve, also from the same collection, is more work appropriate but this actually projects and lasts longer than Leather Reserve.
Stay tuned for my next review on the Icon Collection…

I absolutely love this scent. It’s soft, green, bright, clean, fresh, and natural smelling. It also lasts a pretty long while. I was surprised by the quality, given that it is Banana Republic. But it really does perform like an EDP for a fresh fragrance. I think it’s completely unisex and a great casual scent. Nothing really for the night.
Rodion – :
The fig and citrus in this makes it incredibly similar to Hermes Jardin en Mediterranee, but it also has a little bit of the Jardin sur Nils as well due to the greenness. More affordable than Hermes to be sure, I can’t speak to comparative lasting power, though Hermes does not impress in that sense either. But suffice it to say, a wonderful summer scent and to me, the best of the new BR line.

I picked up the icon collection sample set, this is the first one I tested. Strikingly similar to Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver EDT, but greener. Very grassy smell to it. I like it. Pretty good longevity. Definitely a spring day scent! #mrford
