Description
4711 Acqua Colonia in cooperation with Maurer & Wirtz has presented a new line of colognes for men and women. The fragrances will win you over with their natural ingredients and they promise unique, fresh and sensual aromas. The collection includes the following fragrances: Lemon & Ginger, Lavender & Thyme, Royal Riesling, Vetyver & Bergamot, Melissa & Verbena. They will be available on the market from March 2009.
4711 Acqua Colonia Lemon & Ginger reflects scents and shine of summer days, with alleys of Sicilian lemon. Lemon is combined with ginger and it announces simulative and vitalizing scents of a sunny day in Sicily.
All five fragrances are available in luxurious, relief retro flacons of 170ml eau de cologne and spray. Outer carton and the flacon itself are created to have the characteristic style of old editions with a modern twist. Price of this edition is about 39,50 euro.

this was one horrific experience, kati77 is totally right!

Strong toilet freshener!!!!!!! Lemon, lemon and lemon, then slightly ginger. Can not stand it, sorry.

I loved the Lavender & Thyme from this line and had to try many of the others. I do agree with some other reviewers that this has a lack of staying power. I also agree with Lana148 that this fragrance does resemble Lemon Pledge in an undeniable way, and so I think I would likely layer it with another fragrance. It layers beautifully with the grapefruit one from this line, I think, and the lime and nutmeg.

Like the rest of the 4711 Acqua Colonia line, this one does what it says on the bottle – it gives you lemon and ginger. Like the other fragrances, Lemon & Ginger is a linear fragrance – what you smell on your first spritz is exactly what you’ll smell hours later. That scent is a pleasant, sweet lemon with a hint of ginger.
I love lemon notes and ginger notes, so thought I’d love this one. However, the ginger note is more of a candied ginger rather than the powdery ginger I expected. That makes it a little too sweet for my nose, but still a very pleasant fragrance.
The only negative about this fragrance is the longevity. I’m lucky if I get an hour out of it, and with negligible sillage – this is a skin scent on me. However, that’s a problem I face with all of 4711’s fragrances, so not a big deal. At this price point (I paid around USD 15), you could bathe in the stuff and not feel the pinch (figuratively, not literally). It’s also available in a gift box with a matching shower gel, so you could also bathe in it literally, if you so wish.

This one is really sharp, but at the same time i also get a sweetness with it. The lemon is more proeminent than the ginger, but it is the ginger who gives this fragrance it´s special touch. It smells expensiver than it is and i think you can wear it at day or night.
The projection is ok for me, it sits close to the skin what is good for this type of scent. i would not like it to fill a room because it can really get agressive on the nostrils. Longevity, like with the other fragrances of the line is ridiculous. you have to reaply it every 15 minutes. They should really work on this at 4711. Even an eau de cologne should last longer than this.
If you enjoy this one, try Yellow Diamond by Versace and Saharienne by YSL. They´re both heavy citrus like this one, but with a flowery touch.
Note:7/10

It looks like the overwhelming majority of people who try this either really enjoy it or recognize it’s a good fragrance even if they might not like it. And for good reason. Lemon and Ginger is another fine scent in 4711’s Acqua Colonia line.
Like everyone else has noted, it’s quite zesty and refreshing and is a perfect fit for summer. This is definitely one of the better scents in this fragrance line.

On my skin I get a slightly soapy lemon fragrance. Not sweet or juicy, and no ginger. Not quite lemon dish detergent, but leaning heavily in that direction. It works just fine for a daytime scent when the weather is hot and humid. Fresh, clean, bright, and light. Worth the discounted price I paid but I don’t think I’d pay full price for it.

Oh, this is such a happy, bright, juicy lemon with a tiny bit of ginger. Simple and delightful! I love it…,
but silly lemon PLEDGE ruined it for me. I can’t stop associating this wonderful scent with a furniture polish:(
forumzorroz – :
On me, the lemon is fresh and juicy and does not last very long. I am left with the faintest hint of spicy ginger, very close to the skin. The same happens when I spray on clothes I thought I was looking for a great lemon scent, and maybe I still am, but oh boy do I really want more ginger scents! They work well with me.
Юля1000 – :
Starts of very true to the lemon.Fresh.
A little lemon pie comes along to play but
the ginger is really shy.
It all just dissapeared within a couple of hours…

On my skin this one smells softer and sweeter than the original 4711 which I find more masculine. This smells like lemon candy and I don’t get much ginger.
digdryday – :
A bright, clean lemon; as the dry-down unfolds, there is an undercurrent of a very discreet spice…can;t really make it out. The lemony note persists, and it is a great heat-wave fragrance. Long-lasting for a cologne, too (4 hours in, I can still smell it quite clearly.)

Paid S$17.50 for this which is around US$15. Originally I thought it wasn’t available in Singapore but hey I managed to find it at a local obscure perfume store!
Opens up like a stuffing of sour lemon candies. Very refreshing, suited basically for a hot humid day. Then as it dries down a half hour later, there is a muted lemon scent that almost reminds me of a lemon scented detergent we have here called Mama Lemon. The ginger note isn’t prominent here unlike Bvlgari’s BLV. Rather, it lends a mild touch of warmth to this scent.
I initially thought it smelt like my L’Occitane’s Verbena but when sprayed side by side, L’Occitane’s woodier and its lemony note lasts longer. However, 4711 is dirt cheap compared to L’Occitane (I paid $37 for .6 oz bottle!!) and you can always happily respray it. It comes in a bottle where the cap can be removed so you can easily decant and bring it along.
And this honestly don’t smell like the original 4711 until the dry down where I felt there was indeed some similarities with the original except the original was more complex, powdery and medicinal. Maybe I’m just delusional.
Verdict: great, affordable citrusy fragrance. Wouldn’t hurt to try.
Longevity: (edited) 3-5 hours.
Sillage: Moderate for 30 minutes. Soft thereafter.

Smelled like a laundry detergent on me. It’s clean and bright, but really smelled more like product scent than perfume. Might be appropriate only seasonally or geographically.

During a heatwave in Brisbane – indispensible!!!!!

I currently live in South East Asia, and during humid, hot afternoon (and sometimes, night) I just don’t feel like wearing something heavy. This scent is IT! I rotate this with Clarins Eau Dynamisante and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. Being the cheapest of all (about US$27 for 170ml), it is actually the longest lasting with amazing, amazing sillage, I can actually smell it on clothes for days. The lemon & ginger is the best of the line and is so refreshing, it makes me feel and smell like I’ve just showered even when I’m rather sweaty.

I tried this one last week with the orange and the rhubarb ones and I have to say I was very surprised, they’re all a lot nicer and softer than I first thought. But in a few hours, the lemon and the orange ones had the same drydown, the old lady soap smell, Which I can’t truly say I really like.

@srimati: In Germany in Kaufhaus and Karstadt stores.
For people who like a “cheap version” of the Aqua Allegoria scents, this might be an option. Since I’m not a lemon fan, this one is not for me.
lexa89rus – :
Where can you get these?
bidjovec – :
I tested 5 colognes of this new collection and they’re simply delicious! Lemon and Ginger, as COSMICSCENTS said, smells like a lemon candy. Perfect for after shower, very invigorating. But…yes, the lasting power is terribly poor. 5 minutes and gone!
Nitawacelaw – :
I deffinitly want to buy one from these line. Dont know wich one to choose. This one seems nice. and about the staying power. its a colonge for refreshment, not a perfume

YUMMY!!! IT SMELLS LIKE LEMON CANDY, CITRUSY WITH A HINT OF SUGAR. IT DOESN’T LAS VERY LONG ON THE SKIN THOUGH:/
