An alchemy of rich and tenacious accords celebrate the essence of cultural style and freedom.”

I really enjoy this perfume, it’s a rose fragrance not really for rose fans. This is for people who like the harsh, opening stinging the nose with opulent saffron but rapidly becoming a darker shade, full of incense and sandalwood. The rose grows gently in the background and the whole thing settles to something not dissimilar to Penhaligon’s Levanthium, a really spicy rose affair. I love the stuff but it’s not got the performance or complex power of levanthium, nor does it have the rose sweetness, it’s like a subdued version but very nice nonetheless.

1970 is one of my all-time faves, I am completely addicted so I was very shocked when I walked into Next this weekend and tried their ‘Amber Gold’ for women. A little bit less incense, a little bit sweeter (and maybe for some a little bit more wearable) and supposedly orange blossom instead of rose but to me – although my nose isn’t that great – 8.5 out of 10 similar.

I cannot imagine a scent more irresistible than this! I guess 1970 is exactly what I’ve been craving to inhale. After applying it for the first time tonight, I sense that I’ll soon be asking my own arm for her hand in marriage, so that I may enjoy these notes forever, and be a stone fox.

The opening of this perfume assaulted my nose, I felt as if I just walked into a nail bar,Acetone like wafts dominated for the first 5 mins or so, whether this was a very green, tart patchouli I am unsure but I know I disliked it and I do enjoy Tom Ford’s White Patchouli, right down to a skanky, earthy patch scent. Then a gentle rose pushes her way through a very faint saffron aroma that sits as a pleasant skin scent. Would I rebuy at £75.00 for 50mls? No, I can think of much nicer scents to spend that amount of money on, Really expected to love this but sadly a,” Meh” for me.

1970 for women? Hold up one second before you start spreading that rumor…Life with rose is a beautiful thing. It doesn’t matter if it’s Taif, Turkish, May etc..It’s just something about it that puts you in that La Jolla, California mood(or maybe it’s just me). What is 1970? It’s a straightforward non-complicated primaveral fragrance destined to garner some buzz…It’s a windseeker…it’s a snake charmer with delicacies akin to a flute…it’s a powdery rose concoction…it’s a wafer…it’s a quasi-incense teaser…it’s a hiding place to sheath yourself from all the iniquities of the world…This is one of the few perfumes that commands respect as a silent swooner and does a great job convincing you that big time projection is not always necessary. Rated E for everyone.

Just beautiful. I get a hint of Black Jade by Lubin in the opening & from the rose but this is muskier and a little sweeter, soft, spicy and incredibly gorgeous, a love at first sniff, that keeps growing. A blind buy worth every penny
