Description

White Soul Gold & Diamonds is the new creation by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, created for the house of Ted Lapidus. The new fragrance arrives on the market in 2013 and is characteristic for its airy composition full of floral scents. It adds on the fragrance White Soul from 2010 by creating a special line in the same flacon shape. White Soul is an oriental-floral fragrance with colorful spices and sweet fruit on a base of precious and warm resins, while its successor shines with a citrusy-floral glow and offers a memorable, intoxicating, soft and warm trail.

Top notes of White Soul Gold & Diamonds provide luminous accords of mandarin and neroli, leading to the sensual floral heart composed of sambac jasmine and orange blossom. The base is warm, soft and cuddly, created of vanilla-orchid, amber and heliotrope. The aim of this edition is to leave an impression, be memorable and to offer the perfect balance of softness and sensuality.

The fragrance arrives as 100 ml eau de perfume, in the bottle shaped like White Soul, but colored in golden shades and crowned with a white stopper. 2013 edition.

I’ve had my eye on this for a while. Today I gave in and bought it. If you enjoy Alien EDT and Alien essence absolue you may find, like me, that this is a glorious mix of the 2. The drydown is a heavenly powdery affair just like Absolue’s but the difference is the Heliotrope that peeks through ever so slightly. Longevity on me is insane at over 10 hours! Even though I have a few Aliens, this is just different enough to justify owning it and besides I think I might get more wear out of this stunner. If you are an alien lover, Do yourself a favour and grab it. You won’t be sorry I promise. Besides at the low price you would be silly not to ;o)

I added this one to my wishlist almost a month ago and since I couldn’t stop dreaming about it and it’s not available in most perfume shops,I went back and bought it
About bottle and packaging,I like this golden metal box which reminds me Jean Paul gaultier’s perfumes,it’s bottle is simple also unique but can’t say I like it very much.I prefer being able to see how much is left in my bottle and I find simple glass bottles more elegant but all in all I believe it can make a good gift
This time I was able to detect jasmine from the first second, not as dominant as in alien but still it’s pretty well-pronaunced.it’s jasmine is grounded by sweet and creamy notes,amber,orchid-vanilla and heliotrope.it feels like a modern, almost delicious jasmine, feels like a jasmine flavored whipped cream with a dash of soft almondy powder.jasmine isn’t hot or dirty here unlike alien and it lacks sharp, green, animalic or classic-floral feeling that jasmine usually has and I believe this is the reason I like this fragrance a lot as a none jasmine lover.I also like alien essence absolue but unfortunately I rarely crave it maybe because it feels a lot drier thanks to woody notes or too heavy for usual wearing but this one,I adore it’s soft creamyness and can use it alot more and not only in winters.when I smell deeply I can detect orange flower too.all in all it’s very pleasant and it can be pretty versatile
I was very satisfied with Longevity and sillage in first test.now that I was able to fullwear it I’m even more pleased with it’s strength.it’s lovely to find perfumes which stay soft while being potent
    Highly recommended
    ❤❤❤❤❤

Tried this without checking it’s notes and I was surprised in a good way.I didn’t expect this 37$ perfume to develop such nicely on my skin and go through several stages, smell expensive and have such a great Longevity and sillage
I was also surprised by original white soul and this one, while being totally different,is as good
When first sprayed I could smell something like a dominant benzoin note blended with orange but after couple of minutes jasmine becomes queen of this fragrance
I’m not a hardcore jasmine fan but I enjoy it when it’s done beautifully and it shines here.I agree that it’s ambery jasmine reminds alien but it’s more like a love child of alien essence absolue and alien edt.I dislike alien edp because I find it dirty, linear and overwhelming but I love white soul gold & diamonds so they can’t be that much similar
I can also detect a noticeable dose of heliotrope and orchid and I’m glad about it since I Love these flowers and their velvety powdery quality
Drydown appears to be very delicious on my skin.a mixture of super pretty jasmine and orange flower
,so creamy that it resembles white whipped cream with a floral gene, sweet and a tad spicy amber,my beloved heliotrope and lots of creamy vanilla,I know there’s no vanilla here but I can smell lots of it in drydown.this combination of notes, produces a very soft and creamy but still potent, warm and delicious, sensual scent that I find very pleasant, high quality, soothing and rich.great job of kurkdjian
I only sprayed it once on back of my hand and it stayed there for more than 10 hours
I believe it’s not appropriate for hot days but it’s good in mild to cool temp
    Gonna buy this beauty ASAP

This is basically a Jasmine Amber scent on me. I would have liked to have gotten a bit more of the orange out of this, instead, I get an almost woodsy scent. Overall though, it is gorgeous. It is heavy, yet powdery.
I certainly do not think this should have been released as a flanker to the White Soul. It is an entirely different scent, bearing no resemblance to the first. I am very surprised with how well this blind buy worked out. Thank goodness, because I purchased four bottles of the stuff, only because I had searched for over a year to find it.
Edit 8/2/16…….. when this dries down, I get an intense creamy vanilla scent. Not sure if it is from the heliotrope or orchid, but all I get is vanilla. No amber, no floral.

This one is somewhere inbetween Alien Essence Absolue and regular Alien (much closer to Essence Absolue imo)…but replace the characteristic ‘minty’ vibe of the Aliens with juicy, sweet orange! It’s more ‘user-friendly’, more sparkling and easier to wear, but the sillage/longevity department is just as impressive as the Aliens, perfect for perfume-eating skin-types. I actually prefer White Soul Gold Diamonds to Alien Essence Absolue. But I wouldn’t replace purple Alien with it, the jasmine in Alien is more concentrated, complex and layered, that’s what die-hard jasmine fans prefer…this one does have slightly more jasmine than Essence Absolu though. It’s just as sophisticated, and smells pricier than it is.
The way this scent opens though, you’d never guess that it would evolve to Alien’s younger sister cousin. It opens thick, sweet, sparkling and juicy like many modern designer gourmands. It takes 15 minutes for the ‘Alien’ to start coming through.
If you find that toothpaste-minty vibe in the Aliens offputting, but want something very similar otherwise, go for this baby. If you want a budget friendly version of Alien Essence Absolue , this is fantastic. But if you want a thick, heady jasmine upfront and center, stick to purple Alien!

I have a sample of this perfume and in my opinion its very similar to Alien. Same balsamic note, amber, jasmine. I was hoping I can smell the orchid or heliotrope notes, but none. My skin consumed the faint notes and exposed the amber and balsamic as usual. But I find it too soft for my liking. Perhaps because I already think Alien is perfect. So something similar doesn’t work for me, when it cannot win against my skin. Too bad… I will finish my sample in the hope that I can smell it better.

It’s like sparkling grape vanilla soda to me. I love grape soda so I really like this. The sillage is enormous – it really filled up a room (use with caution) and it’s very long lasting. It’s a gem.
Update: the drydown is much more powdery than the initial spray, quite a changer to me, it’s no longer sparkling grape vanilla soda – becoming a lot more mature.

This to me smells feel like a mix between Alien by Thierry Muglier and Lady Million by Paco Rabanne as it is creamy yet sparking and long lasting…the sillage can be knockout thus it may be best suited for cooler months and still in smaller doses…I am so pleased with this hidden gem that I almost miss out on. My new heady fragrance, every women should have 1 for days you want to draw all eyes on you with your scent, in a good way I mean.

It reminds me a lot of Burberry London, there is definitively a little bit of patchouli in the background. Just like CozyCat wrote: some Flowerbomb or La vie est Belle added to it. This is something I need to keep for cooler weather because it’s rather strong.
This perfume is really very elegant. It should be in a nice glass bottle instead of this deodorant-like spray can, it would be appreciated more if it looked better. What were they thinking of when they came up with this bottle?
Longevity is very good, even more so if sprayed on clothes, sillage is more than moderate .

I bought it purely based on reviews that it smells like Alien, which I love.
It is a pleasant smell, not as strong as Alien…I think this fragrance is suitable for someone who likes softer/creamy scents.
Still pleased with my blind purchase and will use it for work.

Many compared this to Mugler’s Alien and Alien Essence Absolue. I have not tried Essence Absolue but know I cannot wear ANGEL, which smells of bug spray on me.
I’m low on Thierry Mugler Alien and thought I’d try White Soul Gold & Diamonds EDO based on the reviews here. I’m well pleased with this blind-buy.
My untrained nose finds it to be at least 15% sweeter than Alien and maybe not as complex in its layers. Alien however has GREAT days on my skin and then just so-so days on my skin.
I will have to see how G&D peforms from day to day. For now I will say that it is truly lovely fragrance for colder days and I would happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys wearing Alien or a fragrance with similar notes. The sillage is WOW!
EDIT: The sweetness subsides within about 20-30 min. Allround I would choose this over Alien any day. My 10 year old is in awe. She way prefers it to Mugler’s Alien too. I tested both on her skin (not nearly as dry and fleeting as mine when it comes to fragrances.)
SECOND EDIT: I wore this two days in a row this past week. The first day it was Alien. The 2nd day it was annoying me. I’ve decided it is not as complex or expensive smelling as Alien. It’s not as warm. The patchouli becomes a bit cloying. Staying power varies but is extended if also applied to clothing. I suspect the juice is light pink in colour so be cautious with clothing. I think I’ll keep this for autumn and Alien for winter.

This is good stuff. It definitely did remind me of Alien, but I can’t stand Alien (at all!) and I am enjoying this. The best way I can describe it is: imagine Alien’s heady jasmine, but without the bugspray/moth-ball/aspartame/minty vibe, warm it up with amber, squeeze in some sweet mandarin orange, then add a few drops of La Vie Est Belle or Flowerbomb into it for added body, and finally, mix in the ‘opulent’, golden vibe of Dior’s J’adore. It also reminds me Roberto Cavalli EDP, but feels more sophisticated. Something about this scent definitely makes me think of gold jewelry, I thought of this even before I knew the name of this perfume, the SA just came over to spray it on my arm, and I walked away, but only to come back an hour later to inquire about the perfume he had spritzed on me. Very sensuous, very ‘casual glamour’, diva-esque sort of fragrance that is rich enough for special occasions or formal events..it makes me think of stylish women in designer bodycon dresses and gold jewelry, stomping around the city in stilettos. I think this is a very good scent that is reminiscent of other perfumes, not original or unique at all, but great in quality and a beautiful head-turner…I’m sure it would be very popular and well-received if only it were marketed better. It would be a safe choice to gift to people who love strong fragrances and any of the modern, mainstream florientals. Not for those who desire more unique or distinctive fragrances. Sillage is fantastic, bigger than Dior Addict (which I have on my other arm), beating it to a pulp even….and longevity is very good, 10 hours on me and it’s still there, faint but detectable, I imagine it would be a monster on clothing.

I just got it, and this is definitely a nice oriental, warm, creamy in the drydown also…
It isn’t similar to Alien in my opinion, or only for a few seconds.I detect the heliotrope, it is interesting, perfect for winter, feminine, smooth…
I own both and I don’t think they really are that comparable in the long run…Alien being a jasmine bomb, whereas the White Soul l has less of a floral vibe really, it has a bit of a metallic edge. Interesting…
The Lapidus has a warm woodsy edge too, definitely nice creation by Kurkdjian , nice oriental, , but not something I got real excited about!?

I agree with anna.glowacka, it does remind me of Alien. Not that I ever was a fan of it, I blind bought this one to try something sweet for the coming winter months. It has an enormous silage and great longevity, wouldn’t advise anyone wearing this for the office or at least not to reapply it there. I did just that the other day and one of my colleagues asked me what was that sickly sweet horrible thing that I just sprayed! She sits in a different room..
However if I spray it at home and wait for a bit before dressing, it seems not to have such a negative impact on others. The scent dries down into a pleasant sweet creamy scent on my skin, but can be clogging if over applied or sprayed directly onto clothes.
Not one of my favourites, will see how it works in a colder weather.

Sample review, or well… more of a decant review, lol. Thanks Anna!
To me, this has nothing to do with Alien, nor Alien Essence Absolu.
However it is a very pleasant scent!
Opens up as a fruity/floral and dries down to a sweet & creamy floral on my skin.

I’ve just received my bottle. Before i opened it i could smell the scent coming from the packaging. Yes!!! It’s similar to Alien, i barely ever say that two scents are similar but in this case i can’t say anything else. It opens with juicy orange and jasmine, that makes it sweeter than its older brother. But as it dries down i can barely see the difference. Jasmine here is cold and with artificial undertone but it’s still very pleasant. It lacks the woodiness and that makes Gold & Diamonds unique. I really like the scent. I was not expecting such a quality scent (it stayed unchanged on my skin even after the shower) for such a little money.

In my opinion, it has more in common with Alien Essence Absolue. White flowers with lots of amber, heliotrope and some vainilla.
It’s a great fragrance, in the same style of Alien Essence Absolue but a little lighter. It has good sillage and great longevity.
A winner for Ted Lapidus from the great nose of Francis Kurkdjian.

It is Alien’s better twin. Smells exactly like Alien, lasting power is more than 10 hours and sillage is enormous. I find Alien too synthetic sometimes. In this frag all I can smell is creamy woody jasmine. Also, the price is twice cheaper. Definitely a keeper. Great job Lapidus.
