Where to start…first, Chantecaille Kalimantan is one of the sexiest perfumes I have ever put my nose on, and a fragrance that every strong, confident, beautiful woman should own. I’m a dude and one whiff of this elixir puts me in the mood. But I digress…LOL!
I am also a huge fan of vetiver fragrance and, although I feel this leans heavily masculine when used in perfumery, there are some perfumes that work equally well for both. So I was eager to try my samples of Chantecaille Vetyver I brought home with me given my love of Chantecaille and vetiver. What’s not to love?
I like it…okay, I like it a lot, but I don’t quite love it for some reason. Vetyver is a very nice, sleek, soft, chic take on vetiver that, surprisingly, is well-suited for les femmes, but it could also be used by men who prefer the lighter, airy, vetiver scents with citrus and soft wood…with a bit of a chickly aura. While it’s a pass for me, I am hoping to smell this one on the ladies and, perhaps, I’ll love this soft, earthly vertiver fragrance when matched with the right woman. I’ll update my review accordingly.
I recently tried another vetiver fragrance which, to me, was a smooth-as-silk vetiver fragrance that is completely unisex and equally suited for men and all the gorgeous ladies out there. It was fresh, rich, opulent, slightly-dry, lightly-smokey, not-too-green, not-too-rooty, not-too-bright, not-too-dark, it’s just right type of a scent. In other words, it manages to capture that Goldilocks range and is simply just a brilliant vetiver fragrance. So perhaps I’ll try this fragrance again in a few weeks to see if my opinion has changed.
Performance is just okay in that Vetyver lasts 4-5 hours and projects moderately-soft on my skin. I do with this scent projected just a tad better. Again, a solid like for me…just didn’t wow! me the three times I’ve sampled it.

Wearing to gym class which starts EARLY I’ve to get up
like 6am to train old people. And this is AMAZING SPOT
ON! Definitely a Quintessential a MORNING scent easy
to wear UNIQUE yet polite enough so that it doesn’t at all
offend old people. Grown up but not mature. Youthful. It’d
be a signature only that it’s unwearable for evening hours.
BTW it’s late fall and I’ve had to spray throughout the day

HG fragrance. Every time I’m in a store that carries this I liberally spray and then ask for a sample. Someday I will cave and buy a full bottle. Beautiful and unusual. Fresh and earthy. Wish this could be my every day. Chantecaille develops some amazing perfumes.
Edit: purchased this beauty and it is AMAZING.

Today found a tester of this that I had forgotten about.
Put just a little dab on my throat several hours ago and can still getting the most lovely fragrance when I move or touch my neck.
Making me feel elegant even though I’m wearing scruffy housework clothes.
The bergamot and vetyver notes are coming through very strong on my skin with some gentle musk and sandalwood notes rounding off.
    Going on my wish list.

I love vetiver!! It is an amazingly gorgeous thing! I always love it, no matter what. And I adore it in this gorgeous perfume!! Vetyver Chantecaille is deevine! Truly divine! It’s softer than a lot of vetiver perfumes, and it’s simply wonderful!!!
And the bottle is so elegant! The perfume and the bottle both. Elegant and ladylike, with a very gentle soft heart. It is radiant. I love it!!!

I recently purchased the roll-on version of Chantecaille Vetyver.
I LOVE the fragrance and had to own it!
However, regretfully, the fragrance is not long lasting on my skin past an hour. I’m so disappointed. My question to the community: Can I turn this lemon into lemonade by adding the balance of my roll-on to an unscented cream and make Vetyver a body cream? If so, does anyone have a suggestion on how best to do this and with what unscented product? Please help!

You had me at Hepburn. Tailored suits, heels high enough to look any man in the eye, sharp wit, self-possessed, athletic, outdoorsy, and that joyously loony, sarcastic laugh of hers. Hahahahaha! I’m smiling all over. Like her, this fragrance defies confining notions of gender, standing beautifully on its “own two hands.” It would smell heavenly on anyone.
The regular bottle is lovely, and the travel size roller is also attractive and comes with a nifty green pouch, offering an economical way to take it for a spin. I find I can wear it nearly year round, with winter nights being the least likely time I would reach for it. Sillage is moderate, and longevity is 6-8 hours.
For me, this is an energizing scent that conjures a wild beach or river’s edge with tall waving grasses and cool, living waters. The soft citruses work together with the earthy vetyver to almost give the impression of planting lemongrass in the garden, where you get the lemony oils from the leaves but can sense the roots and the fresh soil at the same time. The pepper, nutmeg, and sandalwood refine this to a deliberate fragrance, while the overall effect is a beautiful holiday in a lush outdoor setting. It makes me feel like I’ve stepped into some classic movie where for some inexplicable reason everyone is rich and giddy, sipping champagne, and taking midnight swims in a chilly pool. Now Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart are fighting over me. “My feet are made of clay, made of clay! Gooodniiiight little man!”

I normally find vetivers too harsh but this is perfectly balanced and I look forward to wearing it each time I spray it on. The amount of citrus is perfect, does not dominate and the vetiver is softened for a woman, although I could definitely see men wearing this and enjoying it, too. On further wearings I am finding the pepper assertive and the nutmeg as well. They add a little more edge to the vetiver and more depth and a lovely development to the scent. The musk softens everything and makes the citrus blend softer and more feminine. I find this to be a rather unique vetiver and definitely one of my favorites.
I’ve also realized why I love this fragrance so much- it reminds me of the ultimate comfort scent, a glowing peat fire hissing softly on the grate while you drink Earl Grey tea (with its lovely bergamot scent) sitting in front of the fire. Aaah. Ireland on a chilly day, lovely green smells outside and a smoky soft peat fire inside. Perfection!!

Vetyver Chantecaille for women is a wonderful vetiver for those that find most a bit edgy. Softened up with some nutmeg at the top which, unlike Guerlain’s version (which I love), places it at the base. But it’s the musk and sandalwood in the base that reigns it in.
The bottle strikes the right notes of uelegance with etched glass and a proper size crystal top. Tres chic!
It may say for women but I bet a number of confident men will have no qualms wearing this. Best for Spring/ Summer wear.
Sillage is a nod above average with longevity better than middling.
    A sexy buy!
