So far, the best VS EDT I’ve experienced ever!
As expected from frags I perceive as well-balanced, my review may appear full of contradictions, so bear with me xxx
I’ve been strolling in VS airport shop, searching for a purse perfume spray. The only ones avail were displayed near the cash register and I wasn’t impressed with the rather lousy selection lol.
As soon as I tried Very Sexy Now sample, I became smitten with that clean opening… And bought what happened to be the very last bottle.
See, I didn’t know that frag was supposed to convey a beachy vibe.
As crazy as it sounds, I likened that lovely opening to recently washed and sun-dried cotton, complemented by a sensual backdrop.
Today, I still find the opening and the dry-down (when it dwindles into a skin-scent, hours later) fresh and clean, close to aldehydic quality. Fear not, there’s no laundry detergent note though ^^^
Whereas that suntan oil analogy never popped into my mind.
For sure, compared to the literal coconut milk from Comptoir Sud Pacifique Coco Extreme, Very Sexy Now may feel like sunscreen! But to a limited extent only.
There’s a coconut husk touch that lends a woody creaminess, seamlessly blended with prickly pear or jackfruit – both fruits profiles sound quasi similar to me.
Now, I’m seriously wondering whether that hot sand note is the main player that ties everything together!
Because that creamy texture and tropical fruitiness are never cloying or bubble-gum sweet.
The backbone is so sensual and rich, reminiscent of a sticky rice dessert – yet not edible.
In short: VSN is neither laundry detergent clean, suntan oil cliché, gooey creamy, nor fruity gourmand.
Again, thanks to thorough blending, boundaries are respected, in the most delicate manner.
My favorite coconut-based scent, when I feel like wearing something a lil bit complex than straight-forward coconut.
EDIT: I’ve just discovered that Korloff Gold dry down is very similar to Very Sexy Now 2016 (and better value!).
    Both are gorgeous summer scents!
Check my review on Korloff Gold, you’ll find more details on similarities and distinctions between those two.

Nice and summery, smells like coconut, pineapples, and a little flowery. Reminds me of sun and beach. Great for summer! Lasts fairly long too!

LOVE Tom Ford Soleil Blanc EDP (but way too expensive). And many people have voted that it is also similar to Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess.
NOW, back to THIS fragrance. Not sure how similar this one is, compared to the Bronze Goddess but I did order a 3.4 oz bottle, the 2016 version, over this Holidays. If it turns out having the same range of similar notes with other fragrances (Tom Ford and Estée Lauder), GREAT, as this will be a much better deal in price for me.
HOWEVER, just for my curiosity: since when “sand” is considered a “note” in fragrance!?!?!? I heard of some weird made-up, so-called notes as “light”, or “air”. And now “sand”? :))
Latest update: two thumbs…WAY DOWN from me for THIS fragrance. When I sniffed it from the spray nozzle, I smelled a sweet and yummy coconut scent. BUT when I sprayed it on my skin, ALL I could smell was a very toxic, “chemical” smell that after many times re-testing the fragrance, I could definitely confirm that it sort of smelled like “raw beef fat” on my skin, SO gross :(( Don’t know why it did what it did on my skin and I am NOT knowledgable enough to detect which ingredient that might give the fragrance that bad scent on me. Could it be because of the monoi oil base???
I found the second bottle at a low price (brand new, sealed in box) and was willing to do an experiment to see what if I got a bad bottle from the first purchase. The result was the same from BOTH bottles. They gave me the same impression: the WORST artificial, bad “after-taste” coconut fragrance that I have ever tested on my skin.

    * These are my personal experiences/thoughts with this fragrance. Yours/others may differ. *
    Initial – coconut + fruit + sand
    Drydown – sand + coconut + vanilla + musk
    Duration – 12-13 hours
    Projection – moderate
Experiences – Lovely coconut that gives a beachy vibe without coming across like a gross suntan lotion scent.
Quick Thoughts – beach-in-a-bottle, coconut, flirty

    @Stellagirl
Absolutely, I’m here to help. 🙂 Glad my review helped you out. And yes, the one that I was referring to in my review was the Bronze Goddess 2014 edition. I carefully read the reviews for all of the bronze goddesses and thought it over for a week or two before finally being swayed by the reviews on the 2014 edition. I got mine on Ebay, still sealed in box.
Smells great, but as I said…I easily choose this over that one and reach for it much more often. Bronze Goddess is an amazing scent to wear to the actual beach…that’s how much it smells like your skin after you’ve put on tanning oil and laid out in the sun for a few hours. Not really the type of scent to wear on a date, or to a club, or to the movies or anything. But yeah, give that one a go and let me know how you like it!

Thank you for your thorough review of Very Sexy Now 2016. I’m a huge fan and have been looking for something similar. I’m interested in Bronze Goddess but am a bit confused by all of the variations of the fragrance. May I ask which version of Bronze Goddess you are referring to in your review? I would like to find the one that most closely matches the smell of suntan lotion! Thank you 🙂

    Beautiful smell.
This smells ALMOST identical to Bath & Body Works Waikiki Coconut fragrance. I have both and you can barely tell them apart.
It’s a beachy, coconutty concoction that is a sure-fire reminder of summer and beautiful get-aways.
Bronze Goddess I also recently received and this does not smell the same. Bronze Goddess smells exactly like tanning oil that has dried onto sun drenched skin.
This one smells more like a juicy coconut and the breezy outdoors and sand at the beach. They are both certainly in the summery “vein” or “category” but they do not smell the same. The caramel note in Bronze Goddess also contributes to the huge difference here.
Anyway…I personally would actually choose this fragrance over Bronze Goddess easily.
This is such a well-done coconut fragrance.
    Scent Itself – 9/10
Projection – Pretty soft. Only projects 3 feet or so for maybe…2 hours and then sits close to the skin however…
Longevity – The longevity is about 8 hours on my skin but lasts 24-36 hours on clothes.
    Overall Rating – 9/10
Beautifully done VS! Looking forward to the 2017 edition! 😀

I have been searching for my own idea of the perfect coconut scent, reminiscent of an 80’s suntan oil whose name I can’t recall. This turns out to be exactly what I wanted! This is my absolute favourite coconut Fragrance so far. It reminds me of a tropical beach vacation, lying on a white sandy beach, slathered with suntan oil, sipping Pina Coladas and soaking up the sun’s rays. (Like we did in the fearless 80’s) My only issue is the longevity.
Luckily I happened to purchase VS ‘Coconut Sunset’ fragrance/body mist at the same time – coconut promo, I couldn’t resist 😉 .When I tried these 2 layered it solved the longevity problem for me. I now get around 5-6 hours of coconut heaven. The bottle is exquisite! My search is finally over. If you’re a fearless suntan oil lover please try this, you won’t be disappointed.

(This review is a comparison of the 2014 vs 2016 version)
Very Sexy Now 2016 smells so cozy, like warm island sands under a hot tropical sun. This is a gorgeous and subtle coconut scent that reminds me of the beautiful coasts of Hawaii. 2016’s opening is a bit heavy on the alcohol but it dissipates within seconds to be replaced by an inviting scent of white sands and salty sea air. A very unique fragrance that is decadent like buttered popcorn, and just like buttered popcorn the fragrance can be a bit too “rich” and cloying if over sprayed. The dry down has hints of lotus which gives VSN a very aquatic and fresh undertone; this perfume has the spirit of a hot California summer with sandals in one hand and a bottle of suntan lotion in the other.
Overall both perfumes (2016 and 2014) are well done, they are weak in performance and the longevity is not great (even the EDP is skin soft) but I think these fragrances work so well because they aren’t heavy hitters, the coconut and sands would become too synthetic and messy otherwise.
If I would have to pick between the two I would certainly choose VSN 2014; it’s white florals, beach, and suntan lotion all in one bottle. It’s never cloying despite my obsessive spraying, can be worn day or night and is perfect whether you are having lunch with girlfriends or lazing around the house. In my opinion these are great fragrances by Victoria’s Secret, and both should be considered if you’re longing for the essence of summer.

This perfume smells weird! No, not like G.
It smells like a combo of coconut with sunscreen! I had ‘Very Sexy now 2015’ and worse than this, but both have that sunscreen smell in common. YUCK.
I GUESS this one isn’t as bad as Very sexy 2015. I would say this ‘sunscreen smell’ is a little more bearable. I still wouldn’t recommend either

This scent is my favorite coconut beach scent! It lasts forever on my skin, simple notes with such lasting power. I feel like i’m on the beach with my feet in the sand and the the waves keep slightly washing onto the shore. I love scents that tell a story.

Very Sexy Now 2016 by Victoria Secret smells mostly of lotus flower with a sun-baked coconut undertone and salty sea notes. It is very beachy! Oddly enough I was expecting something sweeter, but this is a nice-and-easy everyday summer scent.

This is a very tropical, beachy scent with prominent note of coconut and hints of fruity floral. If you are into the likes of Bronze Goddess et al…..you will like this. Sillage was moderate but quickly turns into a skin scent. I bought 2 travel sprays(.27oz) at the last semi annual sale but wished I had gotten the 3.4 oz instead. A fun summer scent for sure.

I love this scent so much! I think that this is honestly one of the best VS perfumes that they have made in a long time lol. I really like how I smell the coconut but it doesn’t smell like that really cheap sweet coconut scent that is so prevanent now in a lot of perfumes that contain that note. This scent smells very summery (if that’s even a word) but grown up at the same time. I really recommend this scent and I feel like this one should be permanent.

  15. :

Actually quite a well done VS scent
Smells just like coconut syrup and coconut water. And theres also a bit of a dirty note in there.. like you’ve just had sex in the sand lol
And the sillage was also quite impressive for a seemingly light fragrance.
Edit: ended up buying this baby, it’s going to be perfect for this coming summer.

It’s a smooth “suntan coconut”. Unlike other fragrances with a main note of coconut, it does not choke a person or turn sickeningly sweet. This is a huge plus. That’s the fine line between a good coconut fragrance and a bad one. Like others said, sillage is just right, so long as you don’t use a heavy hand. Longevity is pretty great, too. I’m glad for that — seems like VS nowadays is a hit-or-miss. I’m wary of new VS.
I am a coconut fanatic, but the thing I like the most in this scent is the “sand” aspect. It’s unreal how a fragrance can capture the smell of hot sand at the beach. This is not something you come across every day. I have no clue what kind of notes make a “sand” accord — it smells like melting butter. Perhaps this note/accord was created specially in a lab. Regardless, it definitely works.
I grew up with a large natural lake two blocks down the street. This fragrance creates an image of my mother rubbing sunblock on me and my brother, and us lying our towels down in the tan sand. The heavy heat is rising from the sparkling sand as I crunch my toes down into it.
I definitely prefer this over Very Sexy Now 2014 (due to chemistry, gardenia and the other florals didn’t work for me).
EDIT: This scent works SO well with my chemistry. My man loves it, too, and boy, is he picky. Besides this new one — out of my entire, never-ending collection — he’s only liked two (and one of them he gave me as a gift because he liked the smell, lol). Very Sexy Now is truly hypnotic. The best way I can describe it is melted butter mixed with smooth coconut, and light florals lingering background. The more I used the small atomizer, and the more air got inside, the stronger and better the scent became. Sillage and longevity are extremely impressive. I now have two large bottles… and I think I need more.
I do love most of their usual offerings of bright, crisp, fruity-florals, but this is a nice change. Best scent in a long time for VS. Good quality.

I have the EDP. I didn’t think I’d like a VS perfume, but this is really, really lovely! I normally don’t like summer perfumes with coconut because the coconut ends up smelling very artificial and sickly-sweet. On me, VSN’s initial blast is “pina colada”, which segues into a light, natural-smelling coconut. I don’t get the sand and lotus notes but that’s fine. It definitely says “beach” and “summer” to me. It’s not overpowering and stays closer to the skin. This is a plus, since I work with people who aren’t perfume wearers. I will say that even in extreme heat, this doesn’t turn sour or sweaty. I have dry skin, so on me, this lasts for 2-3 hours on my arms and longer on my clothes and cleavage. I am OK with respraying if I feel the need to.

My first impression was “oh, it smells like PINK Sun Kissed blended with fruits”. Interestingly, the more time passed, the more it smelled like Womanity Eau pour Elles by Thierry Mugler. Definitely didn’t expect this!
P.S. I’m talking about the fragrance mist, not the perfume.

I have found that this perfume has excellent longevity. I usually apply 2 spritz to my hair 2 to my neck and chest and one on my wrist.

How is the longevity of the EDP?
I see above there are a few ‘poor’ votes, which correlates which some reviews posted about the body mist. I’m not sure if people are voting for the body mist or the EDP. I’m under the impression the scale is supposed to be for the strongest form available, so it can be compared to the niche parfums in the database. As many of us know, body mists don’t usually (and aren’t meant to) have good longevity.

A nice scent version of suntan lotion – Coconut, like a dry coconut… 🙂
I bought the body mist but will return it as it lasts maybe 15 minutes on me.

I bought this in a 4 Pak. It had the VS original, 2014, 2015 & 2016. I kept the 2016 one. This is heaven on earth! Perfect mix of coconut, floral, beachy scent. The body spray is so so on projection & village. But I found that using the new VS Coconut Sunset (coconut & pink Jasmine) lotion first, then the VS Very Sexy 2016 fragrance mist holds up like a dream & I’ve gotten so many compliments on that combo. Kudos to VS for their new approach to mixing & creating new scents.

Just ordered a bottle since they were sold out of the smaller bottles in the store. Very beachy and coco nutty. It does remind me ALOT of Harajuku Lovers “G” , which I used to love. , and can’t find anywhere. There’s a new BBW fragrance called Honolulu Sun which I didn’t see in the database and is also close to this. I love coconut in a perfume, but it has to be done right, and this is.

I just saw this yesterday, and sprayed the crap out of myself. It’s really good, but not overly strong. It’s VERY reminiscent of the white bottle, 2014, Very Sexy Now. In fact, at my VS, they had some of the 2014 bottles on the same display as this 2016 version, which I thought was weird, as I thought each year was a limited edition? They are very similar unless you do a side by side test.
I loved the 2014 version, so of course I love this new scent also. I hated last years version of Very Sexy now. I also just might have to pick up another bottle of the 2014 version while it’s still available, but probably I’ll buy the latest version first. The bottle is gorgeous too. One of their prettiest bottles.

Perfect beachy scent that can be splashed on generously! The sand accord is definitely there. No heady chemicals or sharp alcohol beginning to it, just hot sand and coconut water. It makes my homebody self feel the need to leave the house and spend all day at the beach which will make it well worth the price.

This one looks interesting. I had bought a sampler pack of I think 10 VS perfumes, to my nose they were heavy alcohol and they all had this similar base I couldn’t get past. I’ll use the words cheap and/or too young for my 40 year old blood. My one and only VS perfume I own and love is seduction black orchid no.1……… Can anyone tell me if this new one by any chance stands out as different amongst the rest of the VS perfumes? The notes sound delicious to me.

I was looking for the right coconut lotus fragrance forever. Such a beauty. has a good sillage, in my opinion bottle is a lot of fun. I used to like some of the fragrances from VS, but did not buy anything before this one for the last 4 years. I am very happy! Sweet, delicious, enticing, not macaroons sweet, just delicate sweet and so gourmand fragrance!

To me, finding a coconut scent is extremely hard without it being too sweet or offending to people. Sometimes coconut can become extremely syrupy also. I smelled this on the VS employee who was helping me. IT SMELLS AMAZING!!! It smells like a mix of shea butter, coconut, lotus flower, and pink sands. It smells sweet when you first spray it and then mellows down to a straight coconut smell. I don’t smell too much of the lotus; I just smell the coconut and the sand. A perfect summer scent perfect for day and night!

I just got this perfume today. I really like this one. It reminds me a little of Waikiki Beach Coconut by Bath & Body Works, and is also similar to other coconut Fantasies that Victoria’s Secret has done in the past. You can smell the sand, and Coconut mixing together. This is the perfect scent for the beach. I will be doing a full review on Youtube sometime soon.
