Realistic pipe tobacco smell with a faint sub-sweet floral/slightly boozy cherry vibe. But at the end you have simple realistic pipe tobacco. Beautiful, I love it! One of their best scents imo.
    Interesting layering combo

Wow, I am honestly really surprised with this fragrance. I recently purchased a few different Demeter fragrances because of how novel they were, and the price was pretty decent. So far of the 4 different ones I purchased, Pipe Tobacco stands out in a big way.
With my testing of the first three Demeter fragrances I purchased and tried, I noticed they all seemed to have a trend. With the initial opening spray, they did in fact smell quite a bit like their name (ie Mushroom smells exactly like a mushroom would smell), but fairly quickly they dried down to scents that were more in-line with wearable-fragrances. Whether that be sweet, woody, floral etc. Mushroom stopped smelling 100% like a mushroom and started smelling like a designer-style fragrance as it dries down.
Now with Pipe Tobacco, my experience was MUCH different than the other three I purchased. As it retains that pipe-tobacco scent all the way through, and it does develop in interesting ways as it dries down. Initial spray is 100% a sweet pipe tobacco, absolutely picture perfect smell of cracking open a freshly mixed bag and taking in a big whiff, it is sticky with sweet resins and woody tobacco. As it dries down, it morphs into a shockingly pleasant woody-vanillic-tobacco scent with a touch of spices. The vanilla in this might even be natural vanilla, as it has a surprising depth and quality to it (this juice is even slightly darker in color and not clear like my other Demeter fragrances).
As shocking as this may sound, I find that Pipe Tobacco by Demeter has a striking similarity to Coco Blanc from House of Matriarch (which is a VERY expensive all-natural niche house). The scents aren’t identical, but the woody-vanilla vibe is quite familiar between the two of them. I tested both out on each arm tonight and I am amazed at how close they are in so many ways. It is a VERY unique style of smell, which aside from the sample of Coco Blanc I have, no other fragrance in my absurd collection smells like Demeter’s Pipe Tobacco.
Now what time of year does this remind me of when I smell it? Christmas and the Winter season 100%. At one point I could even picture gingerbread cookies and spiced drinks in a warm cozy house during Christmas time as I smelled this. Quite impressive I must say, especially for a fragrance house that has so many fragrances and is not an expensive brand.

Very cool! I don’t smoke. But I love the smell. Very truly and exciting!!! I wish the lasting power was better.

I bought Demeter Pipe Tobacco because I love Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and wanted to find an affordable alternative to a very expensive fragrance. I found that mixing 65-70% Eau des Baux with 30-35% Demeter Pipe Tobacco delivered a very close representation 95%+ of TFTV. This was a great fragrance for accomplishing my task. Bravo Demeter!

This is more than just ‘inspired by’ or ‘reminiscent of’ tobacco, it IS tobacco. A great deal of skill has gone into creating something that smells exactly like unlit tobacco. I understand the comparisons to Tobacco Vanille or Tabac but this is really just the essence of tobacco right here. One thing I will say though is that this scent is more for layering than wearing as a fragrance on it’s own.

    Wonderfully authentic tobacco…
This is my first fragrance from the Demeter range. I was impressed upon first sniffing it. Immediately I though of Tom Ford – Tobacco Vanille. This reminded me of the honeyed tobacco scent of that one.
I find this fragrance incredibly warm, sensual and authentic. It is a syrupy sweet tobacco which you can imagine has just been lit in a pipe. It does develop and the dryer aspects interchange with the initial “wetness” of the tobacco leaves. This is flavoured tobacco for sure. I find it incredibly intriguing and am happy that I have this in my collection. I really think you can’t go wrong with this one. Exceedingly good value for money, especially when compared to a Tom Ford – Private Blend fragrance.

The opening was a little off-putting; it has a sickly sweet raisin–tart dry fruity–smell, which mellows and pairs great with its surprisingly authentic tobacco. It smells like actual…well, pipe tobacco, similar to my favorite Tabac Aurea (not as good of course), none of that cheap cigarette smell or the vaguely smokey nonsense others call “tobacco note.”

Stellar pouch pipe tobacco fragrance. If you find challenging as a skin scent, longevity on clothing is extraordinary.

Starts off with a nice citrus note that evaporates real quick, followed up by a sweet tobacco, very close to unburnt pipe tobacco. Longevity on skin is 3-4hrs and medium sillage. On the clothes it lasts all day long. 6-8 sprays (3-4 on the clothes) needed.
Very simple and linear but very amazing scent. UNISEX. A must have for tobacco lovers.
Edit: Today I sampled it side by side with Odori Tobacco, 90% similar. I still like this one better.

I just got this and I really like it, but not alone-not that it’s bad alone–just too basic- but it smells great with anything cedar- i like it with outspoken

Demeter has several tobacco fragrances. These include “pipe tobacco”, “this is not a pipe”, “whiskey and tobacco”, and humidor. There maybe others. I have tried the first two, “pipe tobacco” and “this is not a pipe”. They are both beautiful simple linear fragrances. If you are looking for a pure realistic tobacco leaf scent, then try Demeter. “Pipe tobacco” is sweet but not overwhelming. I tried Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille, too sweet for my taste. “Pipe tobacco” smells like tobacco from my Grandfather’s old tobacco pouch. The only difference is he used to keep a slice of apple in there to preserve the moisture. “This is not a pipe” does smell like the pipe. It is not an ash/smoke scent. It is still tobacco leaf but not as sweet and a bit woody. Both are intense in the opening, then soften and remain a single linear fragrance throught out. I have noticed that both smell very different on my skin compared to a paper or test strip. On the test strip “pipe tobacco” smells like alcohol and then fades to nothing in minutes. “This is not a pipe” smells like alcohol and pine. Both last on my skin for 4+ hours, but wear close to the skin after the first hour. It would be hard to apply too much. I used eight sprays once just to see how long it would last. It still settled close to my skin after about 2 hours. In short I really love both of these and if you are looking for true pure tobacco they are worth trying.

Smells strangely like raisins to me… too sweet for my liking. Makes me feel sick and slightly headachey. this wasn’t what i was looking for when i imagined tobacco… wish there was a burnt quality to it… not something I’d spray on myself.

I have the 30 ml and the 100 ml sizes, but they smell very different. The 30 ml has more cinnamon and sandalwood notes overlaid on the tobacco. The 100 ml is straight up tobacco, similar to TF Tobacco Vanille but a bit less nicotinic.

i have many fond memories that involve the smell of pipe tobacco. and this ain’t it. or, rather, this is more the smell of the ashtray that the used pipe tobacco gets dumped into.

I do not know where to start with this! I’ve been obsessed with tobacco scents for a year now. I’ve got Banana Republic’s Black Walnut, SSS’s Tabac Aurea, D&G’s The One, M&W’s Tabac EDC (and shower gel) and recently tested Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. I’ve had Versace’s The Dreamer too! Hell I even use a tobacco shower gel now (for Kings&Queens Tsar Peter)!! My Dad used to frequently smoke a pipe, so I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about.
Demeter’s Pipe Tobacco just frickin’ floored me!! This is it guys&gals. My quest ends here. Pure Pipe Tobacco…just like my memories of Dad. I cannot fathom how these guys nailed it so accurately. I’m not getting much cherry or vanilla but this IS pipe tobacco, on point! It is a one note linear frag but exactly the smell I had in mind. So pleased!! But there is a major Achilles’ heel here….its quite weak! Projection is poor, sillage almost non-existent and it stays extremely close to the skin.I think I’m just getting 1-3 hours of obvious scent on my skin…thats it! But the next morning, when my wife cuddled upto me in bed, she got the scent on my neck and said it smelt amazing. Thank God I got the 120ml bottle! I’m willing to forgive because this was a blind buy and exactly the smell I had in mind.
p.s- I ordered this from Fragrance X and it cost me £25 (including postage). It reached me at home in London, UK in exactly 7 days.Impressed! Viva Demeter! I honestly think if SSS’s Tabac Aurea toned down the sandalwood, it would be my no.1 tobacco fragrance. But alas…Demeter has conquered. TF’s Tobacco Vanille just smells like liquorice and danish butter cookies to me. No way is it worth the price tag.
