    Venusia..spot-on review!!
Oh, this is good stuff. Subtle, not overpowering at all. A delicate sweetness, a very subtle nod to the citrus scent, and also subtle white floral. I am not picking up the woodiness nor the amber. The marigold lends a fresh, sunny type of scent, as does the citrus note.
A comforting, relaxing scent. Sort of a “mom” scent. Yes, I dislike categorizing perfumes, but..sometimes something just makes you (general you, not specifically you) think ‘young gal’ or ‘mature woman’ or ‘mom’ scent, and this to me is a ‘mom’ type of scent. Relaxing, comforting and lovely. Subtly sweet and lightly floral. The citrus lends a slightly clean scent. I can’t stop sniffing my arm that I sprayed this on…LOVE!!!

This must be a fee‘s scent. Gentle, yet obvious, sparkling aroma, yet tender and fine, simple but intriguiing, fresh without being cold. Quiet and colourful like a marigold flower itself. Really a work of nature’s art! Love it!

Despite the name this fragrance has nothing in common with the original Amarige. As I was expecting a flanker of Amarige I don’t like the Extravagance so much. To me the marigold smells similar to herbs used in the kitchen. I’ll give it another try in a while.

What is this? It’s so slippery, can’t put my finger on it. Never encountered such an enigmatic, unexplainable scent.
Can’t yet decide whether I love it or hate it. It starts weird and bitter, like a drop of Campari and then it’s ever changing.
    Fascinating chemistry.
    Longevity: 5/10
    Sillage: 5/10
    Unicity: 10+

Sprayed this on at around 3pm. It was citrusy in a boring sharp way. I was disappointed.
Around 8pm… I started sniffing the air going ‘oh my gosh, what smells so good??’ and eventually realized it was my own arm!!! I’m in two minds about this now. The opening is nothing I would care to smell like, but the dry down (I mean – 5 hours is a long time to wait to smell good) is potentially worth the wait. I guess if an affordable enough bottle comes my way I will go there and spray it on long before leaving the house 🙂

If I were to compare it to the original, it is still Extravagance but it’s juicier, less sharp, fuitier, slightly softer, more elaborate… BETTER!!!

When I made an order online for this by it’s name i would have expected a smell that is more refined instead it is sharp, first spray smells like alcohool and after it settles down to a fresh lemon peel kid of smell and remains this way. It is a simple exquisite smell and somehow the smell has a tone of fresh paint or something similar to it, it smells interesting.it smells fresh ,juicy sweet and it’s smell made me think of the taste a bitter seed of a fruit would have smelt.i like it but some days this can be to sharp and heavy even if it smells beautiful, it is poignant. What i like about Givenchy’s perfumes is that they are like a sparklyng soda full of acidity, joyful and freshly energetic- this one works like a tonic to the senses- like a tangerine bitter tonic.I would wear it in summer.

Eccentric yet elegant scent, vegetal, fresh and sweet.
Pure white floral with a touch of jungle to it.
Someone mentioned Cerruti 1881 — the undertones are indeed similar, but Extravagance is much fresher, more spicy-vegetal than musky 1881.
It smells young and independent, a postmodern attempt to recreate the individuality/homogenity of the 90’s.
I think this scent is far more relevant now than it was in 2007.

This is an almost unisex scent for my sence, it sounds like a more elegant version of (dissapointing for me) ‘eau the vert’ by Bulgari ; I consider it as a so light and elegant green fresh one, but unfortunately you are just trying to find out its longevity and sillage when you apply, while ι have an essence of it only the first 2-3 minutes.. after that period the scent seems to almost dissapear and getting involved to your skin, or even gone.. First feel is providing a real discreet character of clean, fresh and green essence that I personally can’t really smell it on my skin after about 20 mins, even if i oversprayed.. 🙁 All in all longevity and sillage are poor for my skin but i feel it is a good mix.
Compliment getter for sure, although may sound invisible for some users (like me). A ‘mythique’ fav for sure!

I came across Extravagance d’Amarige a few years ago and after that I simply couldn’t forget it. It’s got some artistic vibe in it, and what I see when I’m wearing this fragrance is a green garden full of yellow and orange flowers on a sunny day, a white long lace dress and bare feet. First of all, it’s important to say EdA is not a regular perfume. It’s more like an essence, something close to nature. I can imagine this scent being created with pure floral and herbal oils and captured in the bottle. At first it’s a bit sharp, the opening is very fresh and reminds me of the smell of when you cut the flowers, herbs and other things that grow in your garden. Tangerine and marigold are then put in a jar of water, which becomes warm because of the sun (that is, your skin). That’s when I feel some herbal note, even though it’s not one of ingredients, but the orange blossom – oh, it’s there too and adds this crispy yet juicy tone to the whole blend. At the end you start noticing that the whole picture wouldn’t be the same without something woody that fills the air of a slightly heated garden. The base it beautiful and natural – I don’t find anything synthetic about this perfume, and I love that it’s so pure. I absolutely love it and finally had a chance to get my own bottle. It’s the scent that speaks about creativity and passion to me. It’s also one of a few my husband complemented, and he is more of a one-perfume-for-ever kind of guy and doesn’t always enjoy my scent experiments. He said it smells beautiful and this is the best quick sum up for this fragrance I could give too. It’s one of a kind and quite unforgettable too, to be honest.
    – this review is for the newest version of the scent with a white-gold label and baige box (I would really love to own the pink one, though!).
@Luna Blu it’s a bit herbal, but more like a fresh green and orange flowers. Maybe my review is going to help you make the decision. Personally I love it! And it doesn’t remind me of Cerutti at all. Cerutti is more sweet and creamy.

I want yo know if it’s similar in someway to Cerruti 1881 femme…I don’t like Cerruti on my skin..but I’m thinking to blind buy this Givenchy…I want something for summer but special and that last, and not the normal acquatic thing.
    I love citrus…I don’t like herbal smell.

Glorious! Tangerine simply GLOWS in this refreshing, warm, citric fragrance. Grapefruit turns to kitty pee on my skin and strong lemon just reminds me of furniture polish but tangerine, oh my goodness! I’d never imagined a citrus could smell so wonderful.
But make no mistake, this is no body splash citrus. No indeed. Marigold contributes a bit of a bitter bite and the orange blossom and jasmine add a natural, floral sweetness. Could this be a gourmand fruity floral?
I have no experience with the original Extravagance d’Amarige so I cannot compare but I can say that Les Parfums Mythiques version is delicious. Sweet but not candy sweet and floral but not simply floral. I do sense the depth of amber and woody notes but truly, this is ALL about the tangerine. Yum.
Light enough for warm & hot weather daytime wear but complex enough for nighttime, too. Longevity is 6-8 hours and sillage sufficient to get the wearer noticed. Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

An interesting fragrance & one that has taught me just how important it is to test on your skin – don’t rely on a tester strip!! On the tester strip, this smelt glorious…almost melon-like with a heady jasmine note that was really enticing. On my skin, however, the citrus is much more prominent from the beginning, then it morphs into a soapy jasmine with just a tinge of sharpness from the citrus, that comes & goes on the dry down. I find it endlessly fascinating how different fragrances perform on different skins, temperatures, etc.
    ***edited to add***
Interestingly, I tried this layered with Pure Honey by Kim Kardashian…& it removed the soapy note altogether. Now I get a gloriously warm citrus note. The almost melon-fragrance I was detecting on the tester strip is back. The jasmine has been dialled back a bit but I’m really liking the resulting fruity floral fragrance. Pure Honey just gives a lovely warm, sweet background to Extravagence. No soap; no sharpness. Definitely a good layering contender to see what else can be teased out of this.

It’s the perfect blend of fresh greens, flowers and citrus (Tangerine). I’m fascinated by this one. It’s just beautiful and makes me look forward to wearing this more in the warmer months.

I use to own a vintage extravagance d’amarige, it was wonderful just not me, it was citrusy but it was somewhat moody and tame with more wood and undertone as well, more complex.
I bought this version on a whim when the a price was marked too low to pass up a givenchy, i found this absolutely delightful and joyous, the same feeling miss dior cherie invokes in me, neither composition projects a lot of complexity or thrilling notes. Upon first sniff i thought this was a mouthwatering grapefruit, with more discernment, the tangerine notes and and Marigold can be separated, the newer formulation was a bit sweeter than the former there s not much to describe to be honest, except it was the happiest and most uplifting scent ive comed across, longevity was good as well. A summer must.

O iubesc!!

Interesting thoughts/ feelings a perfumer can bring on mind. I feel like an artist when wearing Les Parfums Mythiques Extravagance. I have weared this now for two days and have a total artist feel. Only Beret and brush is missing atm. 😉

I’m not a big fan of greens, but I find Les Parfums Mythiques – Extravagance d’Amarige really great.
It’s green without getting too bitter or tart or sour.
A gentle, slightly floral kind of green.
It reminds me in character of my favourite for spring: Pur Desir de Mimosa by Yves Rocher.
I’ve smelled the original long time ago. It was more complex and more demanding. This version is softer and easier to wear.
Staying power of over 5 hours on my skin and not too big sillage makes it a good candidate for my spring scent. If only I could meet it again…

Reformulated, sadly. It is more broad specter and probably will attract more fans then the original one, due to better wear-ability. The heart of old Extravagance disappeared, leaving us with a more woodsy, slightly prim composition. I was straining my nose to sniff out the old marigold goodness, but it`s been mercilessly split into atoms.
If one would forget the name and imagine that it`s a completely new scent, all kinds of possibilities to wear it open up. The dry down notes are very classy, a herbaceous mist with a milky dew accord.

I used to love Givenchy Extravagance d’Amarige back in 90’s, and remember recieving a lot of positive compliments on it. I would say it’s a spicy-green-citrusy scent. The wild strawberry note gently comes through from green-floral base. Lovely summer fragrance. I liked it more than the original Amarige.
Extravagance d’Amarige is a discontinued fragrance, and I was thrilled about the relaunch of Les Parfums Mythiques – Extravagance d’Amarige
I purchased it without testing, but to my dissapontment it’s not the same. It lacks of a depth, and staying power of the original . This rather smells like a nic,e cool, slightly flowery lemon sorbet on my skin.
Maybe it is that my body chemistry has changed, or I just remember the original one more complex and yet sexy.
Anyway Iam wearing it, and this is a fresh, uplifting scent for hot and humid summer days.Need to be reapplied quite often though

It’s so green and fresh, but the original Extravagance d’Amarige better. It isn’t long lasting. I like tangerine and jasmine, but in this perfume not too determining.
