My sons bought me a bottle for my birthday, I had tried a sample and really liked it. I just find it odd that when I wore the sample I smelled mostly vanilla, but when I wore it for the first time from my new bottle a got a lot of rose. I can pick up some pink pepper and I gather the benzoin, vanilla and a little nutmeg.I read another reviewer say it changes a little everytime you wear it, I think the same thing. It’s such a beautiful scent, I love it!

I think the big thing people want to know is: What is the difference between the original La Nuit Tresor and LNT a la Folie? (At least I did). To my nose, the simple difference comes down to this: chocolate vs. vanilla. Let me ‘splain.
First of all, these are the notes that the two frags share: Pear & bergamot up top, rose in the middle (albeit “different” roses), patchouli, vanilla and some tonka at the bottom. This must be the LNT DNA because upon first spray of LNT-ALF I get a blast of familiarity of the former.
But then while LNT is more fruity and buttery, almost chocolate–to me this is from the praline-caramel-coffee-licorice combo (and what a decadent combo that is!)–ALF is, at it’s heart, a true vanilla. I’m talking buttercream frosting white birthday cake vanilla. This is from the bourbon vanilla-tonka bean-benzoin explosion. At some point in the day, at least by hour 4 of wear, all previous notes seem to dissipate on me and this is just vanilla cupcake (reminds me a LOT of Laura Mercier Eau Gourmand Vanille).
    I love it. YUM.
If you LOVE vanilla, and you love La Nuit Tresor, you should definitely own this. I love that a la Folie is very long lasting vanilla on me, which is pretty rare. By bedtime last night I could still smell it, and I sprayed conservatively in the morning.
I’m not sure at this point which version I like better, but I’m definitely happy that I have both.

I have been a Lancome fan for years and years and love the LVEB line but the La Nuit line has been a big miss for me. I didn’t like the EDP, EDT or Caresse versions so I was hesitant to try this but read the notes and it sounded like it might be good. Well I ordered it from Lancome.com and looove it! Finally a GOOD La Nuit flanker! I love sweet candy fruitier gourmands and this is sweet, a little fruity and very vanilla with some woody undertones that make it oriental. Great for Autumn and Winter!

this is the only flanker by this line i love and finally posess and enjoy.
the initial nuit tresor perfume was imediate love and signature for a long time for me, and one of the the very few perfumes i bought 2 times in my long life.
this one, is the only one that doesn’t slip over to be a la vie est belle flanker.
it is sweet and seductive, intoxicating and comforting at the same time. great silage and longevity. not the nuclear longevity bomb the perfume, is.. (my hair brush smells of it weeks after just one use..).
i m not getting the fruit at all, but i don’t really care about them.

Close your eyes and imagine simultaneously biting into a fluffy marshmallow, a red licorice whip, a couple of sweet tart candies and a handful of sugared violet petals. Breathe out this sweet, lightly floral, dusty cloud and then bottle it up with vanilla powder, shake well and release. Voila! You have La Nuit Tresor a la Folie!
This scent is powdery, lightly floral and sweet, but ever so slightly tart, and laced with vanilla. It very much reminds me of crushed carnival confections, with a potpourri of sweet scents mingling in a playful and soft bouquet. This is not syrupy and not heavy.
Where La Nuit Tresor is a nighttime perfume, this is more of a daytime scent. I’d classify this as a changeable fragrance where the notes take turns vying for your attention–definitely not a single note perfume. Pleasant, but less preferred to La Nuit for me.
Edit: Today I am getting the carnation note strongly. It’s peppery and ambery but the powdery sweetness of vanilla keeps this from become bitter. Such an ever changing perfume!

I love this entire line of fragrances. Tresor la nuit and Tresor la nuit a la folie are completely different but envoke the same feeling. Sensuality. A la folie is a warm vanilla satin sheet. The texture is silky and being caressed by a warm autumn breeze at sunset, the sky is orange and red. Intoxicating berry vanilla spice. This Fragrance is self-esteem in a bottle, you know your a sexy woman wearing this.

I wanted another rose-based flanker of Tresor, but Lancome decided to go in a completely different direction. All I smell is only Tonka Bean combined with vanilla.
    Not my cup of tea.

I’ve been donning myself in this elixir over the past few days, and I have to be honest, it’s surprisingly disappointing to me.
Don’t get me wrong, this is Lancome and it smells luxe – however it is just straight forward Vanilla from start to finish and I was hoping for more – it is incredibly linear.
What my nose can pick out is a deep, rich vanilla enhanced by incredibly smooth benzoin, with some unidentified and intertwined notes. If you’re a vanilla lover, there’s NO chance that you won’t like it.
Always gorgeous, can be ever so slightly cloying, large sillage and beastly longevity – overall it gets a 7/10 from me 🙂
EDIT: I do have to add, the more I wear this, the farther I fall for it. Personally, fragrance is a very special thing. I have quite a few in my collection and almost every single one of them is associated with a positive memory or feeling.
I’ve recently separated from my partner (RIP Prada Candy Florale) and it’s given a new meaning to this perfume.
To me, this smells of strength and courage. Of hope and reassurance. I feel that Lancome, the masters that they are, have created something beyond beautiful. And honestly, I hope to read more of people and their stories.

    @honeybee
I’m in Ontario (Ottawa), and as far as I know, it’s not available in Canada yet. I ordered mine from News Parfums in France – shipping was super fast and the whole thing was very reasonably priced. It was a blind buy for me of course, and I’m SO glad I pulled the trigger.
If you’re in Ottawa, you’re always welcome to have a sniff 🙂

I really want to buy this SO bad! Just wondering if anyone who lives in Ontario, Canada has seen this around in the stores? I’ve tried calling every store I could think of, and no one has even heard of this new one yet. *mind boggling in itself* It came out early 2018 & we’re almost going into June soon. I need this one in my life! I already own La Nuit Tresor Caresse and I love it, so gorgeous.

Thanks to Genny17 for mentioning this was available at News Parfums in France. Because of her, I’m now the very proud owner of this exquisite, vanillary slice of heaven.
La Nuit Tresor a la Folie is a very rich, very smooth, very velvety, vanilla forward potion that will have your nose buried in your wrist all day. I’m really not going to pretend I can pick out various notes, but what I do smell is a very rich, sweetened vanilla. But fear not, this isn’t your average vanilla! It smells expensive, luxurious, and so, so delicious. I do actually smell a bit of rose (a flower I have, of course, smelled before), and while they aren’t the same, I keep finding this rather similar to Black Opium in a way. There’s no coffee in A la Folie, but they’re both a dark vanilla type scent. Although fragrance is so personal, I’d reckon this is a safe blind buy for vanilla lovers. I can’t see how you wouldn’t love this!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Lancôme fragrances – they always project well, are incredibly long lasting, and smell amazing! A la Folie is no exception. I continually get wafts of this beauty throughout the day, and I can still easily smell this on my skin the next day.
So glad I’ve added this stunner to my collection. I’ve got a date with my husband this coming Friday, and I’ll be cloaking myself in this sweet, magic elixir.
Edited: the more I wear this, the more I love it. So rich, so vanilla, so luxe. Just divine.
Ps – I put Black Opium on one wrist today, and a la Folie on the other, and they really aren’t similar. Just the ‘vibe,’ If you will.

Today I decided to leave slightly earlier from work to go to my local perfumery to buy a fragrance. I had a list prepared and Chanel No 5 was at the top. I do own Eau Première and I was now ready to add the ‘real one’ to my collection. While the lady was wrapping my 100 ml bottle of no 5 I headed for the men’s section to buy a fragrance for my boyfriend too. I decided to go for the Aqua di Gìo Profumo. Just after I paid, the SA and I started talking perfume. We headed for the Dior section and I smelled a few more perfumes. My eye fell on the La Nuit Trèsor à la Folie and I asked her to smell it. I was completely taken by the delicious, beautiful, warm and soft scent! I do own the regular La Nuit Trèsor and I do love it, mainly wear it at home and/or before going to bed. I love it, but it’s slightly cloying to me, at times. This one… I,ve fallen in love. To explain: I,ve an extensive collection of over 150 bottles, both niche and designer. I love this one, because it makes me feel pretty, sexy and woman and.. sophisticated. It’s not fair; I know I need to test this for a longer period. But this is my first impression; I love it and I changed the no 5 (not to be compared) for this one.. no 5 will follow in the near future. Perhaps after I’ve finished my Eau Première.

I tested it and I think it is the good one , but not very special . Scent is changing all the time , from sweet note in the beginning to more fruity , vine vanilla dry down . Not really what I was looking for , actually . For younger audition , possible . I am more fan of older school Lancome , my favorite is still Magie Noire parfum of the brand . Any suggestions I can find some like this , please .
I think that E . Lauder Muse Nuit shares some of notes of old Magie …

When I opened the sealed box, without opening the bottle cap yet for my first test spray, I instantly caught a “whiff” of a distinguished smell that intensified my excitement and my expectation for this gem: something very “Lancôme”, superior, and immediately attracted my curious attention.
It was a LOVE at first sight and LOVE at first sniff for me!
It is truly a precious gem from the La Nuit Trésor line, up to a perfection level. While my heart beat with joy and extreme pleasure, I already started to wonder: would Lancôme be able to create something even better than La Nuit à la Folie in the future? This one simply is just stunning, one of the fragrances that helps defining and presenting Lancôme house, in the world of modern fragrances!
Opening up is one of the most beautiful and inviting, warm and silky “spicy vanilla combination” that I have never sniffed before, in a PERFECT ratio to my taste. It must be from the tonka bean (or pepper, as if there was actually a kind of spicy bean out there that also smelled like vanilla) :)) Red currant, pepper, rose, and pear…brought a spicy, creamy, buttery sweetness to the composition, the signature “sweetness” DNA that has defined La Nuit Trésor line (the sweetness that is dimensionally rich in DEPTH, and should NOT be determined as a “sweetness” from JUST “sugar”. It is different and more complicated than that primitive understanding). And the rest of the notes was adding the final polishing touch to this ruby.
My skin was just happily marinated in this juice. Sillage is heavy and longevity is over 12 hours, impressive as it should be.
La Nuit Trésor à la Folie should not be taken lightly. It is like a seductress lady that cannot be taken for granted. I love my precious stone very much and will savor it for special occasions.

Out of all the Tresor flankers, this is definitely the best one. I gave my Nuit Tresor away since I have the A la folie flanker. The vanilla and tonka bean notes do last forever on me and makes this a sweeter and cosier version than la nuit Tresor which has too much berry vibe for me that I ended getting bored of it…
Regarding availability in US market, you can buy it on Lancôme USA website.

i’m in love!! This one i prefer to the original. There is this one sweet note which follows you through many hours, it is so comforting and sensual at the same time.
it does remind me of Lancome Hypnose senses!! But much louder.

I collect Tresor/La Nuit Tresor/Midnight Rose flankers and this is the latest addition to my collection. I really like it! I’d describe it as a cross between Tresor L’Absolu and Angel Muse EdT. It’s not as heavy as La Nuit Tresor EdP (which is my signature and go-to for nights out) and not as sweet or light as La Nuit Tresor EdT and the Caresse edition respectively.
It’s delicious and I’d recommend trying it if you like any of the perfumes I’ve compared it to. It was a very satisfactory blind buy for me. Suitable for all year round except very warm weather I’d say, as it’s quite heady.

I sampled it when in a store and then wen to buy myself turkish delight candies and by the time I got home I didn’t know if I would rather snack those candies or chew my own hand. It smelled really delicious.
I get mainly vanilla mixed with tonka beans so well it gives my nose impression of something chocolatey. Surprisingly I can’t really detect rose note, but I notice small signs of nutmeg and pink pepper far far away. Everything is drowning in sweet and velvety vanilla pillow.
Fall/winter suitable sweet, heavy gourmand. Haven’t tested any other Tresor yet, but looks like I should.
    To me 8/10.

Well, this is my first review of a fragrance that I don’t own -yet.
I have been faithfully testing this scent at my local department store for a couple of weeks and putting it on my “want” list and … taking it away from it … and putting it back. ;-D
I absolutely love the drydown of this scent. The vanilla is simply stunning! To the point that I keep sniffing the sleeve of my coat that has got the drydown stuck on it from my diligent testing.
What I’m a little afraid of, is the initial burst of the fragrance. The bergamot (as well as the pepper) is a bit too much for me. I never got the original Tresor La Nuit to work for me, because of the bergamot-patchouli combo, that overtook all the other (gourmand) notes of the scent on my skin.
I own the EDT version of the scent as well, but it has been a bit of a “meh…”-scent, not bad, but somehow the fruits get cloying instead of sweet on me.
I would say if you haven’t found your personal Tresor La Nuit variation yet, do test this one. And don’t judge the scent by the first fifteen minutes, this one is far from linear, let the scent develop a while.
Personally, I think this is the best La Nuit scent for me. (And yes, it’s back on my “want” -list ;-))

  27. :

    4 out of 5

It’s okay. There’s too much peony for me. It’s so much vanilla and then powdery rose and strong sharp peony. Peony is a note I dislike in large amounts as I find it smells sharp and sweet and almost dusty. I know it’s often used in perfumery with other florals to create the illusion of bouquet of mixed flowers. Often when people say a perfume smells like “old lady” the culprit is a rose and peony combo. However, while I do think this perfume has a “mature” quality to it, I don’t think most people will exclaim “old lady”. The vanilla is the star of the show here and it’s an attention hog. Vanilla and more vanilla. The florals are very noticeable though as I asked friend to smell and they said things such as “Very floral and sweet.” “Vanilla and mix of flowers I can’t pin down” and as far as occasion goes “To the mall with girlfriends.”, “Having late lunch with the girls.” and “Pretty, but not sexy.”
The base does become a bit more balsamic, but so many other fragrance do balsamic rose much better. This is a pass for me. I still find Tresor Eau de Parfum Lumineuse the most beautiful of the Tresor flankers and the only La Nuit version I can wear is the La Nuit Tresor L’Eau de Toilette. The La Nuit Tresor Caresse version I found dusty, oppressive and overly mature and while this one is quite a bit more wearable, I sense more of Caresse in this than I smell the first La Nuit Tresor. If you loved the Caresse flanker you may enjoy this one as well. If you prefer the first La Nuit, I’m not so sure you would. The sparkle of fruit is all but gone here. It’s more mature and less sexpot.

Tried this today and it´s vanilla, vanilla, vanilla and a little rose on my skin. Sweet, powdery and cloying. I miss some sort of darker base to make it interesting because for me it could just as easily be named Vanilla and have a lower price tag and a different manufacturer. The bottle is cute but hard to handle for small hands 🙂

    Uniqueness – 7/10
    Longevity – 7/10
    Sillage – 7/10
Value for money – 7/10 (for me 10/10!)
    Love it!!
Tested this fragrance several times on both skin and clothes. Every time it lasted about 5-6h and had moderate sillage.
Opens with strong cotton candy scent and red flowers.
    Then becomes sweet rose+peony.
In the drydown – beautiful vanilla and benzoin.
This is a delightful add-on to the La Nuit Tresor line. Very balsamic and floral, genuinely rosey.
    Smells very natural and expensive.

Lancome will always be Lancome. Some of their creations like La vie est belle EDP or La nuit tresor EDP will always rock the market and our olfaction almost everywhere! From the streets, to the supermarket or nights out.
To be extremely honest, I was very excited to try the new EDP A la folie edition. It looks very promising but…to me it’s very simple compared to the other editions. Yes I can smell a nice result of so many well combined notes. Yes I can detect the original’s aphrodisiac touch and actually in a less synthetic way. Yes I understand it represents the explosion of love (a la folie = to madness) but there are many cons always according to my nose and personal opinion. These are:
-In the very first spray, if I couldn’t detect the original’s unique gourmandise touch, you could easily fool me and tell me this is a new Armani code version! It has the exact same ‘woody vibe’ and character, but due to other Lancome notes and touches it gains it’s own style.
-For me, A la folie EDP could be for fun the EDT edition of the original since they are very similar with the newest version being way more soft, versatile, easy to year for every single occasion without turning heads or disturb people around you saying ‘Hey! I am here’.
-Sillage is like normal, it feels like it lasts more on clothes than on skin and lasting power is ok. You can wear it and enjoy it as much as you want compared to the other editions like the original or EDP Caresse that could ‘kill’ you and the people around you if you spray more than two times.
All in all, simple is the best word I can use to discribe it without meaning anything bad. The original is a bomb, the EDP Caresse is a maturer and less used one version that I love, the EDT a vanillic mess (again with the original’s touch) and now A la folie EDP comes to bring a nice balance in a way you can use it everytime, with no fear of over doing or disturbing anyone. If you’re a fan of Lancome and La nuit tresor line, I can’t promise that you’ll die for when you smell it, but I can promise that you will smell something different and good enough!

why oh why didn’t they use a lighter vanilla 🙁
I was so pleased with this one, percfect with all I love : light-fruit and powdery, woody and incense, almost took it… but while looking at other perfumes for a while (30 min) all i could smell o n my skin was vanilla! jeez!
maybe on clothes… but i want a perfume that hold on both.
    i recommand you try it.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Ohhh right. It’s Bourbon vanilla. Of course. It is ok for comfort seeking gourmand lovers,it doesn’t share the fizziness or the headache risk of La Nuit.
It is more tamed, very close to a hot plate of vanilla corn starch cream. I am not a gourmand lover myself but I should say that this was longlasting and got compliments minutes after I left the store.
Still. I would go for the original Tresor. Then La Nuit. And this would be my last, safe kind of option.

  35. :

I like being a pessimist. I´m always either right or pleasantly surprised. I had low expectations – but I was wrong. La Nuit Trésor à la Folie is a well-blended & balanced composition of sweet vanilla, warm resins & amber, aromatic spices, fresh roses & powdery peonies. I would call it an oriental fragrance in European style – spicy, balsamic, resinous, sweet – but not too heavy/too sweet. This fragrance knows how to highlight the night with its mysterious charm. Try it.

A WINNER! This is absolutely DREAMY!This smells like vanilla ice creamon on top of a childrens Birthday Cake….and yet still has a bit of elegance. I do not need the new Chanel Mademoiselle Intense (or care). I have this beauty and it doesnt only seduce my senses but my man also!
Fantastique ! Thank you Lancome <3

Sweet in a mature way! I like it. It’s slightly syrupy at first buy the vanilla and tonka bean notes create a nice base in the later hours. I really enjoy it and I have to say the colors in the bottle are beautiful to look at.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

All I smell is a beautiful, yummy vanilla, similar to the one from Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle, mixed with tonka bean.
Unfortunately tonka does not like me 🙁 on me it smell like old tires.
It seems like it’s close to the skin fragrance, with silage medium to none.
Maybe Lancome added so much tonka so it doesn’t smell like Hypnotic Poison lol

  43. :

    5 out of 5

My nose must be broken too…I feel like à la folie is better and more original than the classic la nuit trésor; which is very sweet like la vie est belle.
A la folie is a rose with a little bit of vanilla, patchouli and I also smell a lot of balsamic notes.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

This one is very nice. It opens with a burst of red currant and soon after, i get a very intensive, boozy vanilla with lots of tonka beans. Some time later, i can notice the patchouli, but it is soft, a bit spicy and green, not the stinky kind. At this stage, it also gets a bit powdery. I also noticed something a bit luminious, but i don’t know exactly what it was. Jasmine, maybe? Overall, it smells very red and seductive. I am happy they took the litchi out of this version. This is the only one from the line that doesn’t smell syrupy.
This one is a sensual, rich and elegant perfume for people who like heavy gourmands.
Sillage is strong and i think longevity is too. I sprayed it 4 hours ago, but in the meantime i showered and i still can smell it.
P.S: the bottle is to die for. Beautiful like a jewel!

  45. :

    5 out of 5

My nose must be broken. The perfume pyramid presents an array of notes, just like in La nuit tresor, for a quite complex and deep smelling flanker that in no way contains only:
    •rose essence
    •bourbon vanilla
    •patchouli essence
as the official site of Lancome states.
Nevertheless, I don’t fully agree with the intensity of the notes shown up there. A la folie is definitely not as sweet as presented, at least in my opinion. In fact I thought it would be another gourmand as its sister, but here comes the surprise with a modernized balsamic perfume.
It has a soft rosey opening with fruity balmy nuances here and there. The fruit is really non-descript and the lytchee that prevails in the original, still makes an appearance here. The rose does get heavier and the final drydown consists of woods and incense.
More sour than sweet, so woody, very incensey-not the orthodox variety, that I can confirm-, heady and bit powdery. More original than La nuit tresor? Sure. And as heavy. A wintery nightime scent that die hard fans of La nuit tresor will need. Well blended and long lasting.
    Sensual, adult-appropriate.

Beautiful choice of colors for the bottle, juice and box. When the first La Nuit came out I wanted it right away because I love the shape of the bottle, but after smelling it It didn’t convince me enough so I never purchased. Now with this one I doubt it will dissapoint.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

Can I cry now? They stole my ‘favorite’ bottle and I use this word because by wearing Caresse EDP edition I met the one I fell in love, so thinking of buying it again or wait till La Folie will appear on the market?
La nuit tresor EDP is simply a winner but too many people wear it in a way I hate smelling it. The exact same thing is happening with LVEB-EDP. I wanted something new, something fresh that will finally make me be a different and stronger person, so let’s see. My only worries are about houses removing/reformulating their masterpieces but Lancome looks like loyal to it’s customers.
I will update soon with a full review.
