Fraicheur Muskissime and L’Eau du Gantier are very similar, both smell like L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Mûre & Musc used to smell like when Jean Laporte owned the brand in the 1970s and ’80s.
What I like in MPG fragrances is that…
    1. They smell very “natural” (except Eau de Camélia Chinois which smells of a luxurious fabric softener).
    2. Because they aren’t overly complicated compositions you really can train your nose to detect every single ingredient.
Fraicheur Muskissime starts of with bitter citrus, where as L’Eau du Gantier is “rounder” contains sort of a sweeter/warmer citrus note. Otherwise to my nose both have the same heart and base. Sandalwood is very present in the base. It makes everything last longer (when sprayed on clothes in lingers for days an days) and accentuates the powdery musk base.
FM for hot summer days and LDG year long
For me the ultimate and less “girly” Mûre et Musc, but you have to love sandalwood.

MPG EAU DU GANTIER is really an omni- or universal scent, suitable for women or men. Actually I was wondering why they selected this name, given that the composition is a simple, straightforward lemon cologne-type frag. Shouldn’t “eau du gantier” have leather or something else racy in it?
EAU DU GANTIER is not at all floral, nor is it sweet, as the red berries might lead one to believe from just glancing at the notes. I find EAU DU GANTIER to be entirely natural and slightly grassy, which makes sense since the lemon note is verbena, not lemon or lemon oil. This is a very likeable composition, but nothing really new.
By process of induction it is becoming clear to me that citrus scents tend to have a pretty standard structure with only minor variations. EAU DU GANTIER is certainly a nice citrus scent. My only disappointment is with the longevity, which is rather poor, but that seems more the rule than an exception with these sorts of compositions.

Oh, I really like this one. Sweet but tart, fresh and yet a bit soapy. Unusal. I think it could work for men also. Love the verbena – I appreciate a lemony fragrance that isn’t heavy with herb notes or gourmand sugary. Though it’s right on the edge of being furniture polish lemony so depending on your body chemistry, it might not work for all. Definately worth at least trying if you’re in the market for a citrus based fragrance.
