This is another lovely inexpensive scent from Dana.
Smells like it costs much more than it did. I am glad
Dana makes quality scents and a value price. I hope they stay around a long time to come.

It starts with a very medicinal smell but turns later to a very sophisticated and expensive scent, a great surprise for me as it was a blind buy, I even got complimented by my husband.

By the time I had put the cap back on the bottle and shelved it the scent had all but disappeared.
What I did catch smelt nice.
Save your money for something that lasts.

I received this in a generous giveaway a little while ago. At first spray, there’s a medicinal almost like scented acetone that I really didn’t expect or like. Once it’s dry it becomes a very weak skin scent with a touch of tea, wood, and bergamot that only lasts about 30 minutes on my skin.

Big disappointment! No longevity at all! 15 min on my skin. Black lace, lovely name and i expected much of it. But…It should not be Dana’s item. I can’t even spray it as air refresher. i got rid of the nozzel and see what’s left after alcohol volatilized. i got the very small amount perfume oil and i dropped it on my skin and pillow sheet. Much better! i’m glad that i did not throw it away. Finally i brought out the best of it.

This has some lovely warm top notes. It reminds me of something from the 90’s. Not sure what. It has almost zero staying power but at $5,00 a bottle I keep one at the office for those days when I forgot to apply perfume. I also like applying this before bedtime. Use it as a linen spray too.

love the name, even the bottle is pretty. the plastic sprayer tube is black inside the clear glass bottle. (i think it is the same bottle used in another one of their scents from around the same time).
this smells like my mom’s purse. i have no other real way to describe it, and it’s specific to my mom i guess.
but it is kinda like the smell of freshly sharpened cosmetic pencils (eyeliners, lipliners), and faintly of floral-scented dusting powder.
i like the scent, but there’s no way this is an EDT!
i can’t stand being near people who use too many schpritzes of a scent. ONE SPRAY is plenty, folks. Two, max.
this one, though? you can happily spray yourself with abandon.
if i ever use more than one spray of a perfume, it is because i’m staying home and just want to enjoy the scent – i wouldn’t leave the house with that much fragrance on!
i happily schpritzed myself four times with this yesterday, and by the time i had walked out of the fume-cloud surrounding me, the scent had nearly disappeared. kinda like how it might be if you had worn a nice scent *yesterday* and just the faintest bit had lingered.
anyway. smells nice, but badly named, and extremely weak.

I didn’t care for it.This is a scent that I couldn’t pick out any of the notes. It smelled cheap.

Totally does not match its name — this wears on me as a lemony cologne. It’s very light, more for keeping in the fridge & spritzing oneself to cool down on a hot day. Pleasant and refreshing, but not particularly original.

Black Lace by Dana is a very subtle smell that doesn’t particularly remind me of any one note. I usually like things a bit stronger, but as a skin scent Black Lace works for me, that is men just as well as women. I am stumped describing it. Tea? A bit. Rose? A whisper. Sandalwood? Maybe a bit. Candlewax? A bit. The note list as given by Fragrantica (presumably taken from a Dana note list) is completely ridiculous. Not only do they make up fantasy notes (cyclamen, tea petals, black lilac) but even with generous interpretation few of their notes have anything to do with the actual scent. Grrr.
You could probably take a bath in Black Lace and then jump on an elevator and not induce anyone to get off on the next available floor. And if you don’t bathe in it, most people won’t be able to smell it at all. But hey, it is cheap so spray away until you like the residue…
Black Lace seems almost futuristic to me – there is a trend in high end perfumery to make subtle scents, probably driven by the “perfume free” movement (which in my opinion is fairly crackpot, but hey I am a perfume lover). And here Dana is again, making a dirt cheap skin scent that is quite distinctive in an Emperor’s New Clothes kind of a way. Unfortunately the end point of this trend would be alcohol with no scent added at all. You could put it on to make yourself feel good without risking offense to those out there with such delicate sensibilities. Hey, now there’s a marketing idea. Don’t tell anyone. I will call it Invisible Lace. Or Molecule 0.

Dana Black Lace is a wonderful name that doesn’t live up at all it. Try as many times as I could, I just could not discern any specific notes from Black Lace. I was hoping for the tea and bergamot to announce itself since they are the two top notes, but neither could be heard. Not even a powdery rose could be appreciated, which I could live with. No woods, which I found strange, since woods comprise the majority of the bottom. Just bland, stale water. Bland, stale water that you can’t really smell. Perhaps this was a bad batch, but after a number of tries on this new bottle, I gave up and sent it to a new home.

This is interesting…I wonder if its the inspiration behind AVON’s Be Tempting range?? As very similiar in look! (pink bottle, black lace) Very “Moulin Rouge”

Is it a blind buy if I check reviews here before purchasing? No review was so negative that I figured I couldn’t live without the wasted four dollars it was going to cost me. I sprayed it in the car two big squirts. VERY faint…yes…tea, weak but not bad! I sprayed two full squirts on my wrist. This would be worth BIG bucks if it had staying power! It’s almost instantly a skin scent and as lovely as Lovely by SJP, very similar I find. This is ideal for those public places that you shouldn’t wear perfume. You could spray this in an elevator and not offend anyone. It sure is a pretty scent, I just wish someone would be able to smell it on me! For a few bucks, why not try it yourself? I may use this up in one single day just sitting home watching a good movie lol.

This smelled very synthetic at the beginning and faded away to almost nothing within a few minutes. The drydown has a not-too-bad mix of notes and is better than the first spray, but the plasticky note persists throughout and ruins an otherwise OK fragrance.

this one is really not my thing. i find it very harsh. i wish i could smell all the beautful notes described, especially the berries, lilac and tea. unfortunately it just stays kind of a too sharp and synthetic mix. i agree its kind of plastic smelling too. its very blah. i gave it away.

A linear, slightly powdery floral – most prominent are violet, rose and water flowers.
    No fruits or woody base.
You’ve smelled it many times in your deo.

i honestly donno what to think about this one – its interesting and ordinary at the same time, which is really weird. it has a certain fine touch of lace, makes u sniff and has a lot of a deo at the same time… unfortunately it vanishes pretty fast, leaving just a delicate hint of itself- which u find only if u burry ur face into it.
wouldnt buy it again – it is cheap, it smells good, but it is cheap.
