I dread the day my bottle of Sicily is empty! I cannot stand the injustice of its discontinuation – it’s a bloody masterpiece of a fragrance. Imagine if they discontinued No5 just ten years into its life? Sicily was a modern classic.
So I just bought a 100ml bottle of Zara for Her for £30.99 on eBay, arriving in a few days. Logic suggests that in Zara the frangipani would take the place of the banana. My only other experience of frangipani is in Kate Moss Lilabelle, a hyper girly fragrance. I’ve been watching the reviews since someone first suggested the similarity to Sicily, and my goodness, you guys, please don’t be wrong, let this be a dupe!
Will update when my bottle arrives and I can do a side by side comparison!
    UPDATE
Arrived this morning, opened up the weighty bottle and – Sicily? Is that you?? Why are you wearing pink?
Oh my god it’s 99% a clone! The missing 1% is a speck of warmth and weight – an aspect of heavy cream and banana.
It’s the expensive aldehydes of Sicily that Zara doesn’t have. I’ve heard speculation on other forums that it was these aldehydes and new EU rulings which may have done Sicily in.
I’m really very impressed with the longevity Zara has in spite of being an EDT. Sits close to the skin, can’t wait to see if it blossoms under AC in summer as Sicily does.
Sicily was my first true love, while Zara isn’t as rich or powerful, she’s a forever love <3
NOW PLEASE. DO NOT DISCONTINUE HER.

Is this available in the UK or does it have a different name? I can’t find it anywhere online.

Now I’m really puzzled: how can Zara smell like Sicily since the second has no frangipani nor gardenia as middle notes??? Sicily is one of my all times favourites because it’s a methaphor that encopases the sicilian spirit so well(to me). I haven’t tried Zara yet but this doesn’s make sense to me…Is it because of the aldehydes that are similar in both? However, I can feel the softest hint of frangipani from a mile because I don’t like it in perfumes, so I really don’t see how Zara can come close to S. Frangipani is a smell that just doesn’t lift higher in my mind than basic cosmetics like soap or body cream. And the bottle, rosy transparent can’t have much to do with the idea of Sicily either. I’m really intriqued now to try Zara! Will get back to you with my review.

This one is very similar to Sicily, but warmer and creamier. I can also notice some vanilla here.

l think this perfume is a good one for everyday use. l like this soapy smell ,is clean and comfort and must have for people who loves soapy scents . l read the reviews and l think the dry down is very similar with sicily because both are very soapy but in the opening they are very different. Personally l don’t care if this one is not the perfect copy of Sicily because is good in her own. Here in Greece the price in Zara shops is only 10 or 15 euro for 100 ml and for everyday use it worth.(every perfume there costs from 5 euro ,10 euro only 3-4 have 15 euro) . So why not? personally l like Zara perfumes more than some celebrity because they doesn’t have that plastic cheap smell for the price they are. Good longevity and sillage for that price is another thing l like in this perfume.

Thanks all of you that discover the similitudes about “zara for her” and “sicily”. I was in loved about sicily but now i´m a “zara for her”´s fan. They are the same but not in the Price. That kind of things make me think about the really price of perfumes. In that case, is obvius: ¡So much for Dolce!

I first “met” Sicily last summer when it was already discontinued, and I tried to find it, but only found for so much money I decided to give up and be happy with my few drops. And then I read the reviews of Zara for Her, decided to give it a try – and boy, was I happy. Zara for Her is the same as the wonderful Sicily, aside from some slight differences in the drydown. Also Zara is unbelievably cheaper.
And the biggest pro this one has compared to Sicily: Zara is still in production 🙂 hope they continue to sell it.

If you miss your beloved Sicily from D&G then grab it!!!! In the first moments there are some differences but after a few minutes they are identical!!!!! Clean, a little bit sharp soapy with a lot of sunshine…..

Scent of innocence and purity, created for delicate, romantic women. Modern, pleasant and unobtrusive flavor fits wearing summer daylight day. It may be a nice conclusion of the romantic image, fit and a business suit. Sounding muted, quiet notes he goes for young girls and women of flowering. The harmonious combination of flavors and light rose flower leaves smell of elegance and gentility on your wrists.

Much better than Sicily – which didnt work for me. Zara’s is longer lasting – holds better on my skin and is sweeter.

If you liked Sicily your gonna sure as hell like this. If you loved Sicily your gonna be one happy lady! Complete dupe although I find it a little sweeter and longevity not as good. Great price too. Definitely a great blind buy for Sicily fans. I want to start a petition to bring back Sicily!!!

I guess it was the frangipany & gardenia which gave me headach though the fragrance itself was so nice & clean. I’m not familiar with sicily though so I can’t compare.

Why oh Why did they discontinue Sicily.
If this Zara perfume really is a dead ringer for Sicily, I need to stock up. First I need to visit a store to see if its still there. I hope it is…..
I need to smell a Sicily-esque fragrance again!!

I sprayed this one while I was at the pay desk in zara shop, i didnt noticed what its name was , left the shop just remembering the light pink bottle of it. After a few hours later, I arrived my home, but this scent was incredibly smelling. It is little bit hot and sweet , but absolutely very clean , very creamy , soft and feminine. And beside of the beautiness of the scent, its price is a bonus, i bought a 100 ml bottle for 35.$.

Amazing! this is a dead on dupe of the late Sicily by DG! I sprayed yesterday this one in Zara shop and compared it with Sicily when I got back home. It is 95% the same. Which, for me, is a good news, cause I just loved Sicily and sadly it is no longer available. If you love Sicily, give this one a try, it’s more affordable than chasing leftovers of Sicily on Ebay.
