This was my first ever perfume.. I had just finished college and the professional spirit made me choose this. You can never get bored with this. Its not an addictive scent.. but very classy indeed. It has a dominance of a woman with grace of a lady. Lovely.

You can not blame Zara for reproducing industry twitches, but Black Amber is well something that for me is a design flaw that goes from the mass fragrance to the exclusive perfumery / niche, which is to develop a name and concept that conflict with aroma itself.
If you do not go after notes or information about Black Amber you anticipate an oriental dense amber perfume, noturne, with full amount of those materials that give a smell so sweet as dry and rough to a perfume base. The reality is far from it, an idea that seems closer to a ambergris than an amber chord and an execution that would be more appropriate to a gray amber or white one.
Taking these conceptual inconsistencies, Black Amber seems close to something very interesting for a perfume of a fast fashion but that was certainly softened / adapted to target an audience of broad tastes. You realize that there is a certain oiliness and a very subtle Animalic hint that is an interesting ambergris abstraction. What runs on top of that, however, does not come out of the usual. We have a citrus and sweet fruity output, but not overly sweet, followed by a delicate and light floral accord. The base is what dominates much of the scent, creating a musky scent with those ambergris nuances that are the most interesting aspect of the fragrance itself. A more striking white floral and a more defined citrus would have made this a fantastic idea. The way it was run, however, is only good and expected for a perfume in its price range.

This was one of the first amber perfumes i smelt and i didn’t really enjoy it at first.
But after i smelt sexy amber by michael kors, which was very powdery and medicinal, i appreciated this more.
I came back to it and smelt it again, sprayed it on my body, and was pleased with the dry down. Its fresh and pretty and i think its perfect for a summer night.

It’s not a perfume you would want at the first sniff. I bought this on an impulse buy after seeing the review and without ever sniffing it before. I bought the packaged black amber – femme in one for a very cheap price. At first it came out a little too strong for my taste, but after couple of usage it grew on me and i come to love this perfume, i even spritz some before bedtime.

I’ve actually found this more wearable than DG the One which I tend to dislike. Black Amber is slightly fruity fresh and it smells like the bubblegum kind of sweet. It’s not an oriental, but a perfect generic, unclassified, day&night time frag which suits for every occassion. For the price, it’s very good. I got a 2X100 ml in a box (namely Black Amber and Femme) for 14 Euros.
I think I’ll get every dupe by Zara. If you are looking for something better than a body spray and saving to splurge on niche rather than certain popular mainstream frags but still wanna have them, I recommend the same and can say that Zara did a very good job.
Edit: Yes, time for me to say goodbye to this scent has come 🙂 I’ve recently made some expensive purchases and it will adorn another woman’s vanity now. I like its simple, all-black, square, full-bodied and heavy bottle btw; (different nowadays from the picture shown above).

I got this in a swap as i’ve had good experiences with Zara fragrances so far and I don’t think I own any with tangerine as a note.
The tangerine is definitely there but it’s beautiful as it’s so perfectly blended with the amber and tiare. I can’t stop sniffing my arm, there’s just something about it that’s perfect.

I am in love with this fragance!. I bought it yesterday and have been wearing for 2 days now, and I cant just stop smelling myself. Is very rich, sweet, and special. Is not long lasting but for that price I dont mind to apply it 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and night. Last night I could smell it while I was sleeping.
I regret I didnt get the 100ml bottle, I bought the 30ml one. I am seriously thinking in getting the big one. As it says in the box is a “special edition” and I am scared I wont be able to find it anymore.

Oh yes as it’s been said this is very much like The One ~
Since I don’t care for The One I don’t care for this ,
but if you like The One this will be for you .
I can say in the beginning for me it was much sweeter and not so similar but 30 minutes later wow so much a like .

Impressive perfume created by a high street brand. Yes I heard it many times most of their perfumes are duplicates of the more famous brands but I personally can’t deny the rich quality of this scent and the fact that this lasts for more than 7 hours on my skin alone imagine on my clothes! For only 6 pounds (this is on discount today)I got myself a real treat♡ 2 sprays go a long way for me. If you like oriental, intoxicating, and romantic perfume try this one you won’t regret. X

This is a very unique and feminine scent. A very oriental, moderately sweet scent which smells kind of fruity when it settles. Lots of amber but definitely not overwhelming.
The packaging looks really classy despite the price being so afforable. Surprisingly long-lasting for me though I tend to spray a little more. But for this price, spray as much as you want. 😛
Will definitely repurchase this. I think Zara is really stepping up their game with this. Try it the next time you are there. This is the first Zara perfume that really impresses me.

I like this one a lot! It is indeed similar to The one, and L’eau The one, as many already mentioned here. It is softer than The one and longevity is not so good (about 2-3 hour on my skin; but then, L’eau The one has similar longevity, too) and maybe just less complex as well. Sillage is minimal and I like that in my perfumes, too. I like The one, but that one is a bit too loud for my personality, and Black Amber works just very well. I find some similarities to the drydown of Roberto Cavalli Nero Assolutto as well, most likely because of vanilla.
It is really very very affordable and the bottle is simple, nice and elegant. I love amber and vanilla there. It is quite sweet but not in a cloying way.
I find it quite linear, or rather to say it goes quickly for top notes to heart notes to drydown. It is not very complicated but rather simple fragrance but I find it easy to wear, maybe just because of that. My others sometimes make me tired at the end of the day, while this one is just soft and nice. It may not be very original or special. I believe that those who tested very many fragrances may find it not interesting enough.
I’d say it is quite versatile, lightly applied suitable for days at work, with a heavier hand – for nights out (with option for respraying after 2 hours). It is sweet and cozy enough for wearing on lazy Sunday mornings at home, as well as for Saturday lunches with girlfriends and safe for work. Budget friendly.
Edit. As for comparisson with The One. I now own and familliar well with both. I think Black Amber may be a substitute if you are not so well familliar with The One. They open very similar, and definitely similar scents. If you are familliar well with The One, Black Amber can not replace it. I do smell very much likeness in the opening, but the scents evolve differently later. Black Amber has very short longevity on me, and is much weaker. It doesn’t has this richness, roundness and depth of The One. It is much less sweet too.

Very sweet… but not heavy… It reminds me of The One! But so much cheaper!!!

Ripe juicy tangerines and passionfruit mix perfectly with a beautiful base of amber and vanilla. This is a sweet juicy oriental. My favorite. I love that there are no spices in this, just velvety smooth creamy orangy sweetness. This is one of the few perfumes that I can smell each individual note perfectly. I feel this is quite a unique scent and very versatile.

Belongs to the family of Oriental flavors. Rich, ripe, moderately sweet unique, complex and very versatile flavor. At the end of the composition are the basic chords of sweet vanilla and amber.

This is actually a very good “neutral” fragrance, when you want to smell good but not interesting. It’s not good to smell interesting all the time. However, it does create a nice transition to a richer fragrance you might want to put on in the evening. I bought it about a month ago and I have used up a fourth of the bottle. I think that the particular spray tip just sprays too much perfume in one spray, it really can be more efficient. Overlall, this is a 7 out of 10.

Zara Black Amber is oriental-fruity (I know there isn’t such classification) perfume and I like that. It’s very pleasent and it’s really similar to D&G The One. I can feel every single note in it – from the beginning – juicy tangerine, which was later mixed with seductive passion fruit and delicate scent of tiare flower. And finaly vanilla and amber are bewitching trail of this wonderful aroma.
Not bad longevity and sillage for the EDT.
    Very good perfume from ZARA!

quite ok one, not as sweet as many others using amber and this makes this one more suitable for a more serious or mature users, quite unisex at the same time, bottle is very nice too

I’d expected something heavy, smoky amber, and got something different:-) The first few seconds reminds me of the sophisticated ambery dust in Prada L’Eau d’Ambré, but after a while it becomes a fruity (not too fruity-bless God!)flowery perfume. Nice, not overdone, but not unique.
