Description

Yves Saint Laurent launches a new men’s fragrance for Generation Y (those who were born in the 1980s and 1990s). The fragrance is named Y and is capturing the spirit of youth with the goal of offering a millennial generation something different.

“Y, the new masculine fragrance by Yves Saint Laurent. Inspired by the iconic Yves Saint Laurent white t-shirt and black jacket, this Eau De Toilette represents a balance between freshness and strength. Like a crisp white t-shirt, notes of bergamot, sage and ginger offer a sharp juicy freshness to challenge convention and exceed all expectations. At its base, soft notes of balsam fir, cedarwood and marine ambergris embody the subtle power of a tailored black jacket that is refined, chic and surprisingly powerful. An authentic and bold creation; masculinity re-defined. Everything starts with a Why. #THATSY”

Top notes: white aldehydes, bergamot, ginger
Heart: sage, geranium absolute, violet leaf
Base: ambergris, incense, fir balsam, cedar, musk

Hip-hop musician Loyle Carner, sculptor David Alexander Flin and artificial intelligence researcher Alexandre Robicquet were selected as the faces of the advertising campaign.

The fragrance is available as a 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Yves Saint Laurent Y was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion.

basically, a light, salty, slightly sweet, less-herbal men’s fougere cologne palatable for the modern mainstream man

The opening of Y is extremely pleasant, and there is a great harmony/evolution going on, until the base notes are exposed. At this stage, all the magic ends abruptly thanks to an overload of Ambrox. :/ When will perfumers learn than this material needs to be “dressed up” when used alone in such proportions! If you choose not to, you are a LAZY perfumer! As simple as that. Ambrox doesn’t smell like ambergris Monsieur Ropion, is almost harsh and obnoxious by itself. It is the smell used in cheap laundry detergents for Christ’s sake! Mega potent molecules such as Ambrox need to be “dressed up”. This is a technique that most contemporary perfumers don’t choose to use, because it makes their job more complicated, and also can make the composition more costly to produce. But again, if you “adorn” the ambrox with -for example- ambery sweet, balsamic, and velvety ingredients, such as ambreine Biolandes, Tahitian vanilla absolute, cassie absolute, anis alcohol and anis aldehyde, irones, etc., you’ll get far much better results than if you use Ambrox alone, specially if used in huge amounts in the formula. Unfortunately the overdosing of Ambrox has become a trend, turning what could have been a decent fragrance into a laundry detergent bomb! Sauvage, Invictus, Aventus, and so many others, all have fantastic openings, but end up smelling like cheap laundry detergent. A good perfume is supposed to smell great at all stages, not only in the beginning. The base notes are as important, why not to design them with more care? I truly don’t understand what perfumery has become, and I cannot even imagine where its heading.

Nothing new here. The girl in the perfumery said she thinks it’s a nice perfume. Meh.

Despite what others are saying on this page for Y, I absolutely love this fragrence! It’s so modern but classical at the same time. I think a future classic has been made by YSL! It has a good, long-lasting scent which isn’t too overpowering but is noticeable. It lasts fairly long as well but does not get unbearable; if anything, it’s nice and subtle. Good for travelling as it will last. Can’t wait to try the parfum too!

So… I got this fragrance as a gift.
    And I’m thankful for it.
Because I would’ve never paid for it.
    It’s a very generic fragrance…
DO NOT BUY THIS OUTRIGHT IF YOU HAVE “Invictus By Paco Rabanne, Wanted By Azzaro, Legend Spirit By Montblanc & Hawas By Rasas”.
It’s very similar to those fragrances.
If you need or want another similar scent, but you want it from the house of YSL. Then be my guess, it’s your money.
This frag is not a powerhouse.
    It’s not unique.
    It’s not long lasting.
Its scent trail needs much help.
But to fix any of those issues, just carry a travel atomizer & reapply as needed.
    Hope I helped someone.
P.S. I know some of you, who bought this out right will try to justify this thing. Because you spend about $100 – $200(retail) on this frag.
I used six sprays…both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest, and front of my shirt.
Will I buy this again? No.
What’s the strength of this? EDT.
Does this fragrance enter BEAST MODE, good, just okay or weak sauce at best? Just okay.
Can you use it as a unisex scent? Yes(Women can wear this frag with no issues).
Am I willing to trade this fragrance? Yes.
Should You Skip It, Sample It First or Blind Buy It? Skip it: If you have any freshie/bubblegum scent. You’ve got this thing. E.g…Invictus By Paco Rabanne, Wanted By Azzaro, Legend Spirit By Montblanc & Hawas By Rasasi.
Is it the old, new formulation? New.
What’s its availability; in production, limited edition or discontinued? In production.

This fragrance has made me flip flop so much, first love then hate now LOVE!
I think to be perfectly frank, if this came out maybe 5 years ago it would’ve been a huge hit; YSL really dropped the ball and got to the party super late and so it’s up against literally a Dozen fragrances all doing the same thing.
This one though now I’m sure I like it and although it isn’t a compliment getter it is just super safe, it’s insanely easy to wear and it’s something that suitable for any and every man and it’s highly versatile.
To me this is actually a great release by YSL, it’s just their timing was down right awful and it took ppl like me (although I did like it first time I worn it) a lil more time to like it because there are so many compliment getting panty dropping advertised fragrances atm.
So no hyperbole here, I don’t get compliments with this, but i don’t get complaints either; I don’t have trouble wearing this frag or (now that i think about it) i don’t really see any situation this scent wouldn’t be appropriate tbh.
This scent has something going for it that I like because I feel like it molds to what I’m wearing, like I know some frags are advertised as leather jacket white-t but I really do think / feel like this fragrance is a chameleon (in a good way! a very good way) but it doesn’t wear you like some frags can, you wear it and it goes where you go.
Performance is solid too (8 hrs easy)
Sillage / Projection, that opening pineapple scent I actually really enjoy that synthetic (imaginary)pineapple opening and I look forward to spraying this and the dry down i just keep smelling this note that reminds me of AdG a lot so it’s pleasant to me and lasts for a long time and leaves a decent trail but nothing too crazy (i have big ass bottle of sauvage if i wanna do that)
compliments you may get a few but prolly not many
i flip flop so hard here but right now i really appreciate the scent a lil more especially in a work environment or school environment.
scent: 8.5/10, straight up it is a great scent
price: holy crap i’m already seeing where i can buy the biggest bottle at because it’s so cheap since nobody wants it lol
I will put a disclaimer though because I did go from like to hate to like, this scent may need a lot of wearings to really enjoy; even if you like it at first i’d say you may not like it always, this thing can be a hit one day and next day you want to return it (literally know 2 ppl that returned this after falling in love with it)

Got this for my birthday. Smells sweet with the usual YSL DNA vibe. Very good projection and longevity. Lasts me all day.

Some kind of unholy union between Sauvage and Invictus. It’s too sweet for me to enjoy. I prefer Bleu de Chanel EDP on a man if a man is going to wear this category of scent.
Sure, it’s not as horrifying and loud as Sauvage; sure, it’s not as bubblegum as Invictus, but it’s still bad. The bad in-between stage of these two scents.

  10. :

Pretty Good fragrance with average performance. It has an invictus vibe to it but it’s smoother and not as sharp.
Good fragrance but personally I don’t think it’s worth the high price, mainly because of the weak performance

I adore this fragrance, stop reading and go to a store and try on skin. Very metro, incredibly pleasant and even sexy, I m glad I stoped believing in others reviews long time ago. One loves what ones loves, and this one for me is borderline perfection territory. Heavy on the cedar, molecule one all over.

YSL sold out to Proctor & Gamble, or could’ve been Johnson & Johnson…but you get the idea. Y is a perfect example of that.

I reviewed this already and had to delete it to come back and admit I was wrong. Or to be more specific: I gave this one a second chance and changed my mind.
The opening is citrussy and aldehydic combo bomb. It’s there, it’s slightly sour, fresh straight to your face, no compromises. The citrussy vibe takes all over the place so it won’t let much of other notes shine.
After a while you get nice ambroxan mixed with some gentle musk. It sits close to skin, it doesn’t shout anymore. It’s just there as your close companion making sure you are safe regarding fragrance. At the drydown I get quite nice woody notes and a little bit of apple and pineapple which makes it slightly sweet, but still keeping it very refreshing.
In a way it reminds me a bit of Kenzo L’Eau Par – I guess it’s the musk combined with mint.
It’s not like you have never smelled this before, it’s not gonna win any award for an absolute uniqueness, but it’s solid and pleasant, extremely versatile, safe and kind of mature fragrance.
Actually I won a bottle of it and I decided to keep it and wear it. Find it easily unisex and uplifting for summer.
    To me 7/10.

This is another frag that I really really enjoy. That gets a lot of hate. I actually wasn’t gonna blind but it because of the reviews. Three times I went to the frag store to smell frags see what ones I liked. All three girls all different. Said they loved the Y! All three times I had smelled a bunch of frags. Then smelled the Y. And thought it’s nice but no love. I ended up buying it later online just because I liked the bottle and just how much it was liked by the employees. I would classify this as an aquatic. I also love invictus.. and Chrome pure. Both I would also classify as aquatics. K but Y is nothing like those two. As with invictus it’s has hints of citrus, n sweet with an watery, salty/musky ness and is a beast. Chrome pure is watery peppery and slightly soapy is also a beast With YSL Y I find it’s not as loud. But that’s okay sometimes especially when In more confined spaces with people loud fragrances can be slightly obnoxious. Y is not a loud frag but is not a slouch either.i love the smell of this it’s sweeter watery fresh. With a bit of insense in the base. I don’t get a spicy vibe at all it’s more sweet and fresh an and creamy smoky vibe.

Normally I don’t bother to write bad reviews, but I like to read them as much as I enjoy the good ones. We want balance and honesty on here right?
I tested this today on the back of my hand and was really disappointed.
YSL produced some of my all time favourite fragrances and so I expected more from this.
I wasn’t expecting to be blown away…but I certainly didn’t expect this to smell so cheap and boring (especially when I saw the price of the bottle!)
I’ve scanned some of the reviews below and am surprised so many people like this. It smells just like something I’ve experienced before in my life, can’t nail down exactly what but it’s something average and cheap from my teen years, that’s for certain.
I love citrus, I love YSL but I definitely don’t love this!
I let it breathe for nearly two hours before scrubbing it off.
This is on a level with novelty fragrances to me..just yuck 🙁

Alright, so with Ysl Y, this cologne is very linear. It’s nothing special. I liked it but I wasn’t impressed. I liked other fragrances and decided to go with others instead of this one. Now the thing with this one is. If you’re going to buy YSL Y, you may as well get L’Homme Ultime, you’ll get a better quality, better Sillage and performances ultime I believe is the better choice, they are similar and carry similar notes, both can be worn during the same season but I think ultime will get your more compliments if you’re going for that. I think both are great, but I don’t think YSL Y is really worth the money.

  19. :

    5 out of 5

I think this could be considered a unisex fragrance- I’ve sprayed it on myself (I’m a woman) and to me, it has a light, fresh and fruity sweetness that drys down into a soft, laundry-clean scent. It’s got a preppy, chino shorts and a white button-down shirt vibe – not very feminine, but not downright manly either. Don’t be thrown off by the baby blue color! Try it ladies!

  20. :

    5 out of 5

Just like that sinthetic bug spray sauvage, this one is also generic, boring frag on the level of some Adidas or Playboy fragrance with longevity and performance… not worth the money…

Got a 100ml tester for £25 no lid and for that price I quite enjoy it as I love cheap fragrances, it doesn’t smell cheap but it’s nice. Also the edp is now out (typical black bottle version), surprise surprise YSL make a flanker

  23. :

    5 out of 5

Sorry, to me this smells like soap thats been left out in the sun for awhile like a shirt that had too much soap residue still mixed with body odor in summer. In the air its less harsh and smells clean and sweet. Surprisingly lasts quite long on my skin compared to other YSL fragrances, 8-10 hr skin scent. As said by others it smells very generic release, go with Prada Lhomme or any other clean fragrance.
    Scent : 7/10

    Value : 7/10

    5 out of 5

Call me crazy, but this has really grown on me especially in the summer heat! I’m not much for picking out individual notes and I’m no connoisseur of freshies, but it smells “airy-aquatic” and white-floral “fruity-sweet” to me. Its own coloration and marketing succeed in establishing that clean “blue” vibe. The shirt I associate with this smell is more formal; a professionally cleaned/pressed men’s dress shirt (light blue or white of course). On the other hand I do still agree with their vision of a white t-shirt, because this does smell perfect to wear casually. I received this as a generous gift, and it performs admirably; lasting 12hrs on skin with at least moderate projection for a few hours. Smells great and lasts even longer on clothing. This perfume exists within a very competitive genre of fragrance. It’s too pricey to blind buy, but I would consider smelling it, if possible, before deciding on your next versatile fresh modern men’s scent. I haven’t received any compliments with it just yet, but I would be lying if I denied periodically smelling my shirt throughout the workday for my own pleasure lol
    Dominique Ropion ain’t no slouch

I really like this one. I tend to alternate between the use of this and Bleu de Chanel as it’s lighter and even more versatile. It’s like, to my opinion, Bleu de Chanel had a baby brother; young and naive but with potential.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t get the hate for this either, and this has more character then invictus, probably because of the balsam and the incense ? It is also surprisingly long lasting as i can still smell it on me after a day of work and a 20 minute workout. I agree it’s no Creed Aventus or By Kilian but it smells fresh, clean and well appreciated by the people around you. If you are like me who don’t care for fragrances that has to smell like a fart from the gods then give this a shot, you might end up liking it like i do.

This smells very good. Amazing almost. It has that YSL DNA, that smootheness, elegancy, but youtfull. This is basically YSL take on Invictus Aqua, just done by YSL. Same thing like Armani Acqua di Dio Absolu is Invictus Aqua done by Armani. Nothing groundgreaking. A sweet, fresh airy summery mass pleaser that can be worn by anyone. A mature gentleman on vaccation or a teenager by the sea. Nothing offensive in it, nothin piercing that will annoy either you or others no matter even if you overspray in hot weather.
Its light but lasts a long time. 8 hours without a problem and it will be in the air when you more and as your body warms up. Notes are blended so well that I cant say this one and that one jumps out the most. It feels like a complete composition with right amount of all the ingreediants mashed together to make one whole frag with pleasent smell.
This will get you compliments. Period. Very versitile because even in colder weather, it has that smooth and pleasent fruity, not overly sweet vibe but just enough to allure you, invite you and make others notice you. Then, its fresh enough to be worn in dead of summer. Where Armani Absolu can be worn casual and formal, this and Invictus Aqua are strictly casual. That luxurious vibe could even replace weak Lhomme, especially ecause this lasts and Lhomme doesnt. But it cant replace La Nuit, even in its current formulation. To this day, La Nuit stays the best frag YSL has rrleased. But this is really not far behing. Will get you compliments and you will enjoy this frag. Do NOT listen to bashing. Try it out for yourself and then decide. I dismissed it too right away without trying. But trust me, this smells amazing. Yes its similar to others. Yes its nothing new. But it works and its damn pleasent.

One thing about YSL fragrances is they almost always smell good, no matter which one it is, they release good smelling scents. This one included. It smells good, there’s no denying that. I was in the store before I bought this, asking my wife to smell different fragrances, everything from expensive niche fragrances like Creed and Tom Ford to Prada, to stuff like this…. and when she smelled this she said “mmmmmm yes!” So it doesn’t matter how many people hate on the fragrance, the bottom line is it smells good and people like it.

So much hate for this fragrance! From a woman’s perspective, I find this quite a refreshing, inoffensive scent for a male marketed fragrance, although not groundbreaking. When my husband wears this, the scent smells so fresh, crisp and clean and doesn’t overpower like other fragrances. The citrus and woody compositions are blended beautifully with the spicy ginger strengthening those notes. Longevity not that great but sillage is moderate. Great everyday scent that won’t induce headaches in closed spaces like an office. My husband uses this to take a break from his usual, more stronger scents (Creed Aventus, Dior Sauvage, YSL La Nuit De L’homme) when he wants a more lighter, fresher smell. This works well on my husband’s skin but it’s different for everyone.

It is springtime here in Vancouver, Canada. The sun is finally coming out on a consistent basis with temperatures approximately in the 20c/68f range. I dug through my collection, looking at fragrances that would be appropriate for the warm and sunny weather I am experiencing. I sniffed old favourites I haven’t smelled in months – Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne, Guerlain L’Ideal Homme Cologne, Prada Luna Rosse Eau Sport – all very nice fragrances I intend on wearing this Spring and Early Summer. The one other scent I kept sniffing, however, was a scent that I bought during the winter and have yet to wear: YSL Y.
No doubt there are many haters of this fragrance. YSL has set certain standards in terms of creativity and more groundbreaking scents (despite all the YSL L’Homme flankers), and ‘Y’ isn’t particularly daring. Having said that, to my nose, it’s a very easy to wear, clean and fresh scent. This is the kind of scent you can wear dressed up or even dressed down and it will smell appropriate on a sunny and warm day.
3 adjectives to describe YSL Y: Fresh, clean, attractive.
This scent is pretty simple despite the number of notes listed. It’s really a scent that has beautiful fresh top notes, the violet in this scent is somewhat prominent and I love the soft musk base. It is ‘safe’, but sometimes there’s nothing wrong with that.
If you’re looking for a simple, fresh, clean and alluring scent – give this scent a try.

2 light decant sprays over 12 hours ago…getting solid wafts of the ambergris/musky/woody notes in the drydown. Solid projection of a blend that turns more masculine at this stage…deserving of a fair shake as it’s very likable, performing well, and certainly versatile. For a non-collector who has sampled a great deal, yes, it’s a bit safe but in a very nice way…and really, how many scents released today are groundbreaking and hyper-unique??? Few at best…this might make the stringent buy list, as at worst, it’s shaping up to be a very nice “dumb” reach scent.

I would describe Y as this: fruity and bright, yet a bit cloying and discordantly heavy. You know that feeling you get after eating way too many sweets and find yourself yearning for a shot of insulin? I get a bit of that from just a couple sprays of this.
To my nose, it seems like Y started out as a typical young aquatic that wanted to be something more; but it struggled to make up its mind whether it wanted to go sweet or green or dark – so it did a little of each. And while on the balance it’s not really offensive in any concrete way, it almost seems like someone combined the dregs from a few commercially successful fragrances and mashed them all together, proclaiming it to be something new and special. It really is neither. If anything, it’s a rather feckless glom on the tired and overdone Bleu de Chanel schtick – only about 5 years too late. What a disappointment from a once great house.
I normally don’t mind the heft of a good incense and/or musk base, but for this one, I think they conspire to foil its true potential – as a crowd pleasing if formulaic commercial success. For me, this is barely a like – more of a neutral, really. Might eventually come to be an unlike. Can’t really recommend Y – either for the price or considering some of the fantastic alternatives out there.

@cameroncaleb12: yes, olfactory fatigue is real.
I have armaf niche platinum EDP, it’s a beast. On the first day, i can still smell it for the whole night without respraying. But after a week, i feel like i can no longer smell it after 3 hours.

Dont see the hate for this at all. How unique can you be in this segment… very few are and when they are, they are often imitated until is isnt something you find unique anymore. While this isnt groundbreaking it is perfect for the summer.. very fresh, fizzy, tarty in a citric way type scent. For the youthful/playful spirited.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

This is a generic, and boring release, that will likely have a lot of appeal to its intended target General Y fellas. Excellent grab and go, starter cologne for young fellas to get their noses on.
    Overall: 5/10

  42. :

    5 out of 5

    Salty – woody – fruity
    Color impression: pale gray
Day after day the fragrances are becoming more and more nonsensical. A touching ad campaign and a well-know company name co-work to give meaning to a meaningless, characterless frequency. Just another brick in the wall, Y, is a sea-washed driftwood and laundry freshness of musky citruses, and sells ridiculously priced. Boring yet mass-pleasing.
    ★★

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve been gifted this…upon first smell it gave me powerful fruit notes. Now, upon application – and I’ve been wearing this for the last three hours now – I can smell aldehydes, apple, pineapple, violet leaves some faint vetiver and sage.
As as scent by itself, it is not bad…not the greatest though. This is an easy to wear, friendly, inoffensive, warm climate scent…you wont wow people with it, but you wont stink.
Now, if I tried this fragrance not knowing that YSL created it, I’d have definitely said that this is a Hugo or probably Calvin Klein or some other flanker from Paco Rabanne’s Invictus…but YSL? No.
Also a little bit overpriced, in my opinion.
The description above includes that “this perfume is inspired by the iconic Yves Saint Laurent white t-shirt and black jacket”. I disagree. This is more towards the bright green/bright yellow t-shirt, no jackets because it is too hot for such.
I’d recommend this for the summer or the office…and if it were made by Hugo and sold for half the price.

@richmilton: I didn’t claim that all women’s fragrances are alike, only that there is a trend toward fruitchouli scents being released and heavily marketed toward women (I consider La Vie Est Belle to have kickstarted that trend). Naturally, if a woman has 300 plus bottles of perfume in her collection then she should have those that smell different and there are many categories of scents out there, but what is being marketed and ‘hyped’ right now are the (sometimes overly sweet) fruity/patchouli scents, in my opinion. I am a woman who enjoys fresh, clean, simple scents, but when I go into a store like Ulta, I don’t find those type of fragrances on the women’s side, simple as that. So I drift to the men’s section in the hopes of finding something more appealing and I tried Y. It didn’t end up enjoyable to me on my skin, but on others, I’m sure it’s a good, fresh fragrance.

This one i really like. It has a L’homme vibe but has violet leafs and aldehydes to change a little bit. Very nice classy scent. Good for the office. Say what you want but it’s a nice one. I think people are hating this because it’s a new YSL fragrance that its not changing the game. But who cares since its a good one? I prefer L’homme or La nuit, but after those 2, the other flakers are just meh. This has a beautiful bottle and has a good scent that its appealing for young crowd but still not bubblegumy like Eros, Utra Male, Popeye, or One Million. This probably gonna grow on me. For now it’s a 7/10

The Y stands for – why did you release this?

It’s different. It reminds me of washing detergent. So I guess spray it on you and you’ll feel washed and clean. Careful on your clothes, it’s quite an oily fragrance, well the decant I have certainly is. It’s a pass from me.

I don’t have my sample of Ultime anymore but wow, my first impression was that Y is ridiculously close to Ultime. I’ll have to smell Ultime again but this just seems like a duplicate of it.

This is one of the worst men’s releases I have ever smelled , and it is only a little bit worse than weil pour homme.
I get some fleeting begamont, yellow floral, then a candied ginger smell. That candied ginger that is a little aromatic and citric is the duration of the fragrance.
This could have been a good aromatic citrus scent in concept, but the quality is not only not acceptable, but is poor here. Maybe it seems this way because of how it is blended.
Not only does that, but this fragrance has 3 to 5 hours longevity , but it has poor projection and silage.
1 out of 5 and not suggested by me. This house really has some hits and some misses.
    Update
If you enjoy a aldyhiidic , citric, aromatic then you should try Eau d`Hadrien Annick Goutal for women and men.
It is a much better quality and much better version, I do not know who was before who, but the resemblances are clear to my nose.

I like this scent, it’s very classy work by YSL. Fresh, aromatic, aldegidic, day aroma.

I really enjoy the first 5-10 minutes of this. It’s genuinely interesting and exciting. When is the last time you smelled aldehydes in a modern Mens release? But it gets mediocre and pretty bland in a hurry. 5 out of 10 after the promising opening. In the same league as something like Mr Burberry. Both are big mainstream releases by master perfumers that fail to be full bottle worthy.

@DarlingNikki my wife has over 300 perfumes all marketed to woman, and only a few are fruitious, and all but a few smell completely different. So your claim all woman perfumes are alike is incorrect. She refuses to wear a man’s cologne but that’s just her feminity is important to her.
As for Yves Saint Laurent Yves, it’s a masculine fresh scent. Not all that unique but definitely a very nice versatile cologne for guys of any age and any profession.

I have just tried it at Macy’s. Don’t listen to others, especially, somebody has discovered that some company used fragrantica as a dirty marketing weapon. Just take your girlfriend, or go by yourself to a store to try it. I myself really love it. Its more wearable than Sauvage, but I like both of them.

As a woman who is growing increasingly tired of the ubiquitous frutchouli fragrances that are aimed squarely at women these days, I find myself gravitating more to what is traditionally thought of as masculine fragrances. I was curious about Y and, holding no expectations for it since I am not invested emotionally in YSL as a brand, I sprayed it on a clean cotton wipe and then gently dabbed on the back of my hand. On the cotton wipe, it is drying down into a pleasantly fresh fruit-tinged scent; on my skin, though, I am getting a heavy dose of aldehydes that nearly make me cough mixing with some undertone that smells metallic. Have to say that this is disappointing on my skin, but it smells so good on the cotton wipe that I’m willing to try it on my pulse points to see if body heat will bring out what I’m smelling on the cotton pad.
EDIT: In the far, far dry down, I get the mass-appealing ‘freshie’ scent mixed with fruit (pineapple) that I was getting on the cotton pad. The initial phase of this fragrance, though, is not quite pleasant on my skin and I get two distinct notes: aldehydes (quite loud for nearly thirty minutes) and ambergris (which I’m assuming is giving off that metallic undertone that I smell so strongly in a scent like Sauvage which features an overload of ambroxon). I imagine that this smells quite nice on a man’s skin, but for me, as a woman, it’s just a bit too loud (in the beginning) and that metallic tone is not to my taste.

So close to Kouros Silver that I’m shocked how many love this but hate K.Silver. just goes to show how the mind works mysteriously. For Example I can wear a fragrance one day and my wife says wow what are you wearing and I reply Aventus but now everytime I wear Aventus she says she hates it. Some people. that’s all nothing else. just some people.

Safe but good. Not Invictus, maybe Acqua di Gio Profumo. IMO not schoolboy frag. Soon I will buy a full bottle.

Alright, after me bashing this fragrance on two separate reviews (not really bashing, but just not being very nice in my review). I have finally started wearing this more often to assess it’s qualities, and I have to finally (and somewhat reluctantly) admit that I was a bit too harsh in saying that this was awful. At first I thought it smelled like nothing special, and upon first smelling it….it does have a very “familiar” feel to it, but as
