Description

The collection of perfumes by Diana Vreeland adds the ninth edition, Vivaciously Bold which arrives on the market in early February 2016. The collection by Diana Vreeland was initiated by Diana’s grandson, Alexandar Vreeland, in 2014, when he also published a book dedicated to Diana, called “Diana Vreeland Memos”. Life, style and extravagance of the famous columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar Diana Vreeland (1903 – 1989) are reflected in each of her creations which celebrate her character and with each fragrance reveal a part of her personality.

Flacon of the new perfume Vivaciously Bold was created in color of peridot gem and embellished with dark blue tassel around the neck. Perfumer Carlos Benaim makes the elegant vetiver note very luxurious by blending it carefully with selected ingredients. Top notes are provided with a bald cocktail of citruses: grapefruit, lemon and bergamot, which are spiced up with pepper chord to add a bitter and cold spicy twist. Unexpected freshness originates from the heart from soft textures of sambac jasmine and strong notes of petitgrain. Vetiver appears in the base of the fragrance, supported with patchouli and embraced by seductive and sensual musk.
Fragrance Vivaciously Bold is available as a 100ml Eau de Parfum.

What IS it with these Diana Vreeland scents? They’re beautiful, no doubt, but also have this strange sourness to them that make them slightly prohibitive. I love Full Gallop and Devastatingly Chic and they both have this. It’s so bizarre. This one seems to be that sourness in full body. Both lovely and offputting. Strange, no doubt.

This is all citrus to me and very little of anything else. The jasmine, pepper and musk are non existent to my nose. As one can imagine, vetiver and grapefruit creates a brisk effect. One can find this uber fresh or kind of bracing. I just don’t find this pretty, interesting or refreshing enough. Instead its a little flat to me. In the dry down, the vetiver comes through and it’s somewhat similar to TF Gray Vetiver. However, I suggest the old staples like Eau de Campagne, Muglar Cologne, or O de Lancome over this one.
