Description

Vice Versa was launched 1999 as a limited edition fragrance, followed by the make-up collection of the same name (as it was the case with In Love Again the previous year). It is created in cooperation with perfumer Karine Dubreuil, bringing the composition of rich colors, fresh, fruity and floral, represented in the following shades: red, orange and pink. The fragrance plays with opposites; it is sweet and savory, simple and sophisticated.

Top notes are Chinese mandarin, cherry tomato and raspberry. The heart flourishes with bluebell, tuberose, peony, orange blossom, freesia and Indian jasmine emphasizing the femininity of the composition, together with fruity aromas of blueberry, peach and melon. Florentine iris, amber, musk, vanilla and cedar are in the finish.

Available as 100 ml EDT.

The design is so lovely queen of spades and hearts is that what inspired the lid design?? Well the fragrance has the potential to be a sparkling , powder , fresh, green fragrance but it doesn’t get there. It really doesn’t!!
For me I absolutely have to keep the bottle and fill it with an oriental floral.. I am not a fan of the perfume itself because it’s too woodsy and irritating.
This scent can be worn by anyone..
just for me I need it to smell like Chloe love story or Chanel xox mademoiselle… truth .

Chapeau.
    Profumo 9/10
    Sillage 9/10
    Longevità 9/10

Fragrance & Fruit Or Vice Versa
As a hardcore fan of Yves Saint Laurent, I enjoy putting on many of his fragrances past and present. Vice Versa is a delicious fruity white floral fragrance that I can put on in spring and summer, when it’s aroma is richer. Cocktail lunches, shopping trips, errand runs, this perfume always does its job. It’s perfumy and pretty strong, sort of like Giorgio Beverly Hills, but not in a bad way. It lets you know it’s there. And what is there? Sweet fruity scents of mandarin, raspberry and blueberry. A giant tomato is there too but it’s the perfume version of tomato so don’t think for one moment that you’ll smell like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen cooking with tomatoes. The flowers are lovely: jasmine, freesia, tuberose, African Orange Flower, peony. They each make their cameo but I mostly detected tuberose bellflower, jasmine and peony. A melon is mingling wit the flowers. This fragrance seems to be true to it’s moniker. Fruits or flowers or vice versa because you get plenty of both in beautiful fragrant harmony. The base is vanilla, sweet vanilla but like in today’s gourmand vanilla. Amber and iris. Loved it. Has great sillage, projection and lasts all day. I gave one of two bottle sway to my Russian friend who loves fruity florals. This is a gorgeous feminine perfume and will satisfy your desires for vintages and for real perfume. Buy this online and get this stuff. It’s great.

Very strong dusty tomato with raspberry and blueberry after-math. It is unique and no comparison for some abovementioned. Too bad, it’s discontinued. On the other hand- I have it in my huge collection, so may be it is not to bad.

I still have one kept safely in its BOX, which I use it in very Special occasions. It was one of my favourite perfumes ever – a perfume that I fell in love with and I never “forgave” YSL for stop selling it. It is a sweet perfume with a unique in my opinion smell. I wish I could find a similar smell like this again….

All I can say is that I hope YSL will bring it back!
I miss it so badly! Sigh.

Oh my god, I just saw this photo of Vice Versa and remembered that I had a bottle of it years ago! I never did finish it and I may still have it around somewhere (I’l have to rummage around to see if I can find it!). So, if it is discontinued and anyone’s looking for it then feel free to contact me and I’ll see if I can locate my bottle of it!

This limited edition was another diversion to the gourmand tend of YSL. I was only pernitted a sample once years ago. This one was beautiful as it was strange. Of all gourmands, this held the most floral notes. I am talking those rich and redolent YSL florals. It was avant garde, even for YSL.
In the midst of the citrus notes and flowers is a lot of fruit. Neroli harmonizes well here with the sunny character. There is a strange green note that must be the tomato leaves. Its surprising. I didnt get the tomato note, yet I am sure its there amid all the vegetation. Its refreshing and mature.
There was nothing heavy about it and it was a perfect summer edition. It reminded me of Atlantis. It has passed into legend as well…

When I bought it in London in 2000, I was told it was limited edition. Private collectors might be the few people still with a bottle. Good luck!

This was quite a distictive fragrance, I used to quite like it and remember it was quite dominantly orange scented- think I mainly loved it for it’s bottle though.

First off, I hold YSL in very high regard. However, there are $1 hairsprays that smell better this. From the second I put it it on all I wanted was for it to end. Seriously, dreadfully bad.

    So good.
    So short-lived.
    So impossible to find.
    Vice/Versa.
    It was girly/womanly,
sparkling like a miracle/approachable like an orange trees garden,
    for daywear/nightwear.
    Alice in wonderland indeed.

i was ecpecting something very heavy and lil retro but it is not anything like this.It is too light ,or at least too light for my nose which is used to havier smells. It is perfect for summer, non offensive smell.

This brings some memories,my older sister had this when i was a little girl and i loved the bottle because of the heart shape.I liked the smell back then, but i dont really remember exactly how it smelled. It was kinda floral and soft.Maybe also like some perfumes from the 80`s..

i really loved this one because of its classy and spicy smell; it has indeed a hint of tomato leaf, but still a very agreeable perfume. too bad it can’t be found anymore!:(
