Description

In Fall 2017, Diptyque presents its new, enhanced Vetyverio Eau De Parfum version. Both editions are developed by perfumer Olivier Pescheux.

“In the eau de parfum, vetiver from Haiti takes centre stage. Used in an overdose, it reveals itself in a pure state, without artifice, drawing its elegant, smoky nature from this volcanic rock with a fiery temperament.”

Top notes: grapefruit, mandarin
Heart: Turkish rose
Base: Haitian vetiver, patchouli

It is available as a 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

It smells pure vetiver with touch of woody notes and fresh, uplifting citrues opening. If you vetiver lover, you must try Vetyverio. Amazing!

Smells very damn good and smooth for a Vetiver. Terre D Hermes’ New Eau Intense Vetiver is way more masculine if thats what you looking for

Just went to the Dyptique Boutique. Picked up Philosykos. Got a sample of this. I love Encre Noir type vetiver scents and this one smelled good at first. But it dried down into a floral powder that I couldn’t wait to scrub off. It’s too feminine for me. Too sweet. Too powdery. I think I may like it on a woman. But it’s not for me.

The EDP version is very good, I much prefer it to the EDT which I thought was okay, but not particularly unique or FB worthy. This one is grassy and dry and earthy and deep, with the citrus and rose balancing it out to make it a bit more unisex. It’s elegant and versatile. I’m very glad they did an EDP. Nicely done Diptyque, one of my favorite vetivers!

Been sitting on a decant of this I got in trade for months. Finally sprayed myself yesterday and man was I blindsided!! This has to be the best vetiver I’ve ever smelled in my life. All this time I was sitting on a secret gem & didn’t even know it! All day I couldn’t stop getting whiffs off my hand. I couldn’t stop smelling myself… Oh so heavenly!! The rose compliments this composition in a way I couldn’t describe if I tried. It’s a perfect blend of Rose, vetiver, Mandarin, patchouli & grapefruit. So smooth & refreshing that I couldn’t help but think, Tom Ford grey what? For the first time in my life, after wearing this for an hour, I immediately bought a full bottle cause this will always be a staple in my collection. On my skin this lasted the entire day into the next morning. Projection is a good 4 feet for about 6 hours then it sits closer to the skin but the scent just doesn’t go away until you wash it off. Well worth a full bottle purchase & if you like vetiver frags, GET YOUR NOSE ON THIS ONE ASAP!!

This fragrance is much more “masculine” than I thought. I tested it on my wrist before purchasing it and I really liked it as I’m a fan or citrus scents. Everything was citrusy soft and pleasant. But I wore it yesterday and it surprised me as a “disaster” 🙁
It opened VERY VERY sharp with the STRONGEST grapefruit note that I have ever sniffed in my life, and it stayed “grapefruit-y” the whole time thru out the dry down to the end. I vaguely detected any woodsy note in it. It did NOT develop at all on me. TOO strong of a fragrance for a female, I think. My whole family sneezed right after they each caught a whiff of it and I only sprayed 2 medium sprays (the way I usually wear my perfume). Thank god, it did not turn into “weed” or “pot” smell on me (as I read in some of the reviews in here 🙂 ).
I had to retake a shower to wash it off. The next morning, the grapefruit scent was STILL faintly there on me. So there you go, if you are a fan of this fragrance, enjoy it as it lasts VERY WELL 🙂
Can’t believe that this fragrance is demoted quickly from being loved down to being disliked by me 🙁
I would recommend the Jo Malone Verbenas of Provence Cologne (being discontinued for awhile now), instead of this one to any female who likes citrusy notes. That one is strong too and has more layers of citrus and complex than this Vetyverio. That one did develop nicely on me. I like citrus notes but rather enjoy more of other notes as in a citrus combination, NOT just citrus alone. So I would not buy that Jo Malone Verbenas either, even though it DOES smell nice.
The one that I currently and truly love which also offers beautiful citrus note, actually is the Bergamote 22 EDP by Le Labo. Now that one is a masterpiece.

Wore it on one arm the whole day on Friday… Pleasantly warm vetiver plus sth… i wondered what it was… Grey Vetiver? No! Encre Noir? No! What then…?
after a while it hit me: Vetiver Oriental by Serge Lutens! They both have a dark chocolate hidden amidst the green woods! Veeeeeeery masculine i think…

I love the Diptyque philosophy of taking one note and blending it with an olfactory curve ball — something quite unexpected that takes the original note in another direction. While some of Diptyque’s fragrances are quite literal and linear — Eau de Lierre, for example — some of their fragrances like Vetyverio EDP embody the philosophy of the olfactory surprise.
In Vetyverio EDP, the vetiver is balanced and rounded out by the rose note. The vetiver is softened, made more gender neutral. The resulting fragrance comes out familiar but new, bold but sweet, fresh but also dark.
It is quite long lasting and has moderate projection. I think it is more appropriate for cooler weather. I like how the fragrance evolves throughout the day.
I wouldn’t describe it as a citrus fragrance though. It is more woodsy and aromatic, with a very beautiful and balanced hint of rose.

I love Diptyque but this is god-awful on me! I was at the store to smell the Diptyques and since I like a majority of them, I just sprayed the parfum all over my shirt and arm. I immediately regretted it. I thought it smelled like someone smoking pot! I went to where my daughter was standing, and when she smelled me she said “Oh mom, get away from me.” She also told me people in the mall were going to think I’m a cool mom for smoking pot, and then asked me if I was going to burn my clothes when we got home.
It never did calm down or turn into something else on me, and I happen to love the smell of Vetiver but this should win an award for one of the worst perfumes ever.

This does not have a straight-forward opening for a vetiver scent, and it’s not something I like. I also think the grapefruit is a little overdone here, at least for me, and makes this more suitable for a man than a woman. I want the Vetiver to be the star … I want more wood … but the grapefruit is present right into the drydown … it’s just too overwhelming, almost verging on headache inducing. Sycomore edp is still the best Vetiver fragrance I’ve personally tried.
    Longevity 12+ hours.

The typical common masculine labelled fragrance “chypre” with that oakmoss, geranium, vetiver, & sour grapefruit.
    Nothing new, and nothing interesting.

This one has knocked me right out of my vetiver rut. Ever since the Sycomore change from EDT to EDP (and the bastardization that my beloved Sycomore went through), I’ve been searching for a vetiver that moves me. I’ve gone through so many, no need to list them. I finally gave up and turned my attention to fall oriental scents.
As Calvini points out, the floral mid notes really propel this. I do get the rose, and immediately made me think of the spirit of Sycomore.
The vetiver note itself is impeccable and the citrus opening is somehow so much more vibrant, unique, and downright exciting, especially compared to some of the vetiver-citrus staples that I’ve grown bored of (i.e. Grey Vetiver).
I cannot emphasize how fantastic the rose note supports this composition. Don’t get me wrong, this is by no means a rose scent AT ALL, and people not familiar with vetiver scents may not pick the rose up at all; after all, the vetiver packs a punch.
Not as good as Sycomore, but I’d have no hesitation saying this is my second favorite vetiver scent. Easily a love for me.

    My new favourite Diptyque fragrance.
It is much more woody than the EDT which is brighter and more sparkly with its notes of grapefruit and apricot.
The EDP is intense and smoky which is a little bit too masculine for me at first. Its at its best after 30 or so minutes. . I sprayed it on my arms 5 hours ago and although it is much softer I cannot stop smelling it! In love. Will buy tomorrow.

To me it was very cypress-y, immediately reminded me of Encre Noire, but more watery/stemmy; then a sweet floracy emerges (didn’t register as “rose” until I saw it), which finally sets it apart, but still not as good as Sycomore.

I just tried 3 samples from Dyptique Tam Dao, Eau Duelle, and Vetyverio.
I thought this would be my least favorite, but it is the best of those 3.
I have Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, which has a vetiver and grapefruit combo, but this was more unusual. I like the floral touch, it is not a distinct rose, just a nuance, that adds a soft touch making this lean slightly feminine, whereas Grey Vetiver is masculine. My girlfriend likes grapefruit fragrances, I think she will love this for herself as she loves TF Grey Vetiver on guys.
After the opening it become less unique.
I just purchased Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal which I like better than this, it’s a vetiver, violet leaf, with plum and fruity citrus, not to sweet and very unique for an easy going vetiver.

Starts with very strong quality vetiver (earthy, woody, rooty). The scent smells very classic and cozy and if you have experienced purist vetiver confections before (VE, Givenchy) you know how mouthwatering a fresh raw vetiver note can be. Abstract it is not at least not in its beginning however the scent unlike other renditions of this divine note seems to get more and more transparent as the time progresses becoming more affable and suave revealing notes of soft rose and patchouli. Nothing over the top, still vetiver reigns this kingdom however the surprise is there and if you are patient the drydown of this perfume will leave you with something at once classy and friendly. All good things to those who wait.

If you like rooty, herbal, medicinal, ginseng-like vetiver with a substantial backbone(ex. Encre Noire and Sycomore), do give this one a try.

This new edp concentration is fantastic! I prefer it over the eau de toilette. Starts with fresh, green, citrusy and a bit harsh vetiver which I love. Then it follows a wooden path and becomes quiet for a while to suddenly enchant you with a warm, cozy and sophisticated base composed of rose, patchouli and vetiver. Hats off for this new concoction, Diptyque!

I really love this version! It is a modern, floral, woodsy vetiver that is blended beautifully with a juicy citrus that has just a brilliant hint of bitterness on the finish. The type that keeps you going back to the wrist. If you’ve ever chewed on a rose petal, you know the bitter I mean. This may sound strange, but it plays great on the skin.
